damn here I am again making yet another review after I was called about my review. I was sent a new invoice after speaking with the manager about one of the employees who lead me to make the first review. I was told and sent an invoice of 11 dollars and the rest would be waived on their behalf. Today I look and see that I was charged 54 dollars anyways And no receipt was sent. This storage facility sells nothing but dreams and bad customer service. I will definitely be taking my stuff out and move it to a more professional storage space. This is insane and unacceptable. Do not use this place. They purposefully try to make you default on your bill using tactics like adding fees after the fact and not fully disclosing the amount to be paid. They the staff tried to give out tge contents of my unit even after i paid the balance and get this she said she doesnt need to unlock my unit because shes a manager she can do what she want. I reserved and rented a U-Haul van from this location two weeks ago. When I picked up the van, I did not sign anything nor was I given a paper copy of the contract. I used the location before and the place was extremely busy, so I didn't think much of it when the employee told me that he had emailed the contract. Unfortunately, I didn't do my due diligence in checking the email because when I got the final invoice, it included charges for 3 days of SafeMove ($45). I never elected this option. I disputed the charge and awaited a response from the business. Not only did they NOT respond to my dispute, they tacked on a late charge ($30) and repeatedly tried to charge my credit card for $75. Fortunately, I was able to call the 1-800 number for U-Haul and customer service was able to retrieve my original reservation and see that I in fact, DID NOT elect SafeMove and agreed to remove the $75 charge. I'll continue to use U-Haul but I'll NEVER use this location again!! read more

Don't let any negative reviews deceive you at this storage facility.. I walked in unannounced and rented a space easier than eating apple pie .. the facility was clean. The bathrooms were good. Most of all the staff was efficient and friendly.. everyone I worked with including Teesha, Anthony and Xavier.. making an already stressful move less stressful. Kudos to the team here. How do you give negative stars? Stay away from this location. Drive to one that is staffed with people who are competent and do their job. To say the customer service here was poor would be kind. The first truck assigned to me smelled like a homeless person was dwelling in it. The second one had someone's clothing on the dashboard. The third truck which I felt forced to take because I needed to get a job done smelled and was not cleaned. The representative stated the 26' trucks are parked in an unmonitored area and are easily accessed by the homeless. When I returned the vehicle to the location, I got into a small fender bender with another Uhaul vehicle. The staff did not bother to check on me or the other driver, nor did the answer any questions when asked for assistance with reporting the accident. A less than satisfactory way to handle business. Uhaul should seriously consider not using this location / business to represent their company unless they would like to continue to allow their vehicles to be susceptible to homeless people and to have staff that does not uphold the reputation of the brand well. read more

hello i have my business things in storage which I do shows at least twice a month my only income i rent here because upon renting here I was told they have 24 hours surveillance which made me feel comfortable because my shows are usually early morning so I would come in and load up between 6 am -6:30 because they insured me of safety there 24 hour surveillance I should be good not only did I find out the camera DoNot Work .... and then when I got there to load up the door did not work i continually tried and the doors was not opening around 7:20 am another customer came up and the door did not work for them but as I put my code in she pulled on the door only then was we able to get in I also call the number over 10 times I really needed to do this show which I had to pay for of course I did not make the show even after the many calls made I went home later that day I went back up there I spoke to Al he stated that he did not know what happened but he call Jason after he attempted to pull up the camera footage Al is sooooo rude he tried to blame me saying if I would have push 3 it would have called his phone seriously 3 was not a option then Jason said he would try looking and would call me later and I got a call Sunday morning on my way to church he said they don't no what happened i explained to him the money I paid and the money that was lost he said send over invoice I did the next morning he replied it take 7/10 days for refund he send it over to corporate and that's where check will come from on the 10th day I emailed and and thursday of last week I emailed so now they stop responding so I went to corporate spoke to mr Solly he said send over all emails and he would give me a call in morning that brings me to today the morning he was to call he did not call I called him at noon he said he would give someone a call and call me back today of course the call did not come I called him twice no answer I m very disappointed I paid 500 to enter show I usually make 2000/2500 per show. so please research before storing there the surveillance is never working and then customer service and no care for customer and doors i do not know what be the problem I was told multiple times the doors are not working... and you all can follow me because i have more to post . read more

They evicted me even though my bill was paid because my dog got locked in the elevator... no warning. No asking if she was a service dog( she is ). Furthermore they said I was there after hours. It was 10:05 when I first tried to leave. The emergency number that was posted didn't work so I dialed 911. The operator was able to get hold of the district manager named Stevie who got in touch with the property manager to let me in the building. It was about 11 pm by the time that happened. Stevie is a very rude and heartless woman . Avoid this place like the plague. They have a lot of avail units right now. Prob because of the attitudes of the staff. Boooo read more

This location is absolutely HORRIBLE! The clerks at the desk are lazy and don't want to do their jobs. The staff looks like they just got out of a halfway house. I went to return some unopened items that I didn't need for my move. I returned them inside of 1 week. They lied to me and told me that "all sales are final" which I know for a fact is not true. I've been a customer at that location for many years (since they first opened). I am no longer a customer so maybe they got their wish and won't have to deal with me anymore. Double and triple booking people. "This happens all the time" was the response. Why bother allowing people to "reserve" vehicles if there won't be anything available to actually rent. People plan moving and it's a pretty involved process. The time waste is the worst part. read more

Made a reservation for a vehicle, showed up, no vehicles available. They have 10 trucks in the parking lot and not a single one is "available?" Then when I asked for help finding a replacement they told me to call 1800 U-Haul with no remorse whatsoever. Worst service, if I can even call it that. read more

How many times is the elevator going to be broken??? Supposed availability to go to your storage unit 24 hours a day - however - if elevator is broken and office is not open too bad for you. Surprisingly impressed with how easy renting moving trucks was here! I've rented trucks from other Uhaul locations and Penske trucks too but my experience has been by far the best. Which, who needs any added stress when you're moving, right? I think what made the difference here is that the people behind the counter are READY to help. They know what to do and immediately as I walk through the door they are ready to help. They were friendly and so helpful with getting me all the things I need for an easy breezy move. Remember 5th Room Storage? Okay, that's the business that originally had my stuff. And I was TOTALLY waiting to write them a review until I got an email stating that they were going out of business and giving me options for alternative locations where they'd gladly transfer my stuff. 14th Street Self Storage was one of the options. So, I requested 5th Room Storage - a business that'd pick up your boxed stuff for free as part of their services(!!!) - to transfer my stuff here at 14th Street Self Storage. That was in 2012. Since vacating my climate-controlled unit this weekend, I visited my little 5x5 three times total. My unit was always clean (if you know what I mean, for those of you who know about living in hot-n-humid climates). My lock was never tampered with. The communication between me and the answering service, office staff, or manager(s) was always clear whether it was via email or by phone. The rates were pretty fair too. But I think what I liked most about this place was that their storage access hours, 6am - 10pm, didn't leave you feeling dependent on their office being open for you to check-in on or get your stuff. So while I'm happy with the storage unit I have now here in NYC, I'll really miss 14 Street Self Storage. I never expected to need their services for six years. But that's life, and this place never got in the way of me living mine (which I did in about 10 different cities outside of Georgia, and about half of them were outside of the US), and that's what you want from a self storage business. So a million thanks to 14 Street Self Storage. I seriously don't know what I would've done without you all. Take care!!! read more

Not the most polite staff at this location. I went in to return some boxes that I bought online but picked up at another store (since I moved but didn't use them). The manager seemed super annoyed that I didn't just go away when he said I needed my original receipt. Since it was online, I was able to take a moment to find it on my phone. He then seemed pretty annoyed that the receipt wasn't for his location. When one moves and wants to return unused boxes, don't they normally return them to a different UHaul location? Maybe not, but I just loaded mine into the moving truck on top of the ones I actually used for packing. It turns out that the manager was already disgruntled with UHaul and was planning to end their relationship. I discovered this when I returned from my car with the boxes and asked where he would like me to put them. He stated something to the effect of "well, I don't really want them at all" and continued to tell me how it was no longer fun to work with UHaul. Thanks, dude. I really want to receive attitude because you still have a relationship with UHaul but don't want it. (Not.) His colleague was also openly snippy with him, which made me uncomfortable. There just seems to be a general attitude problem at the location. I plan to go elsewhere for future moving and storage needs. read more

This is a very badly managed enterprise with terrible customer service and repeated compromised security. Our property was vandalized while being stored at The Space Shop on 14th Street due to their negligence in allowing their security gate to be left open repeatedly and while never once informing their tenants, including us, of the compromised situations. Throughout their attitude was pathetic and their leadership never once stepped in, communicated with us, or followed up in any way whatsoever, despite our repeated attempts to speak to them. With all the storage locations popping up, I cannot believe they are still in business. read more

I'm not sure about the storage experience here, but if you need to rent a U-Haul this is your place. They're open 7 days a week and have an entire fleet on their lot. The employees here are really friendly (if not a little flirty, but I could just be flattering myself) and made renting a truck completely hassle free. I didn't even have one reserved and I was able to walk right up and get one. I'm sure they'd prefer for you to visit their website, so encourage you to do so for an even quicker transaction. They even have a dropbox where you can leave you keys in case you bring your truck back afterhours. Again, if you need to rent a moving truck this is your place. They make it sooo easy! I definitely regret not also coming here for a storage unit since my experience at Public Storage has been so awful. read more
