They did a great job. We had well over 100 packed boxes, including furniture and fragile items. We moved from the city to Gwinnett. Cost: -They charge $150 an hour for 4 guys and a large truck. Our move from the city to Gwinnett took about 6-7 hrs. We paid about $1200 for our move. -They automatically charge 1 hour for transportation to and from their headquarters, so that will be added to the moving hours and does not include their actual drive time of your items to the new move-in location. This is pretty standard. (TIP: Make sure to avoid those places that want to know your inventory or the weight of your boxes. They pull bait and switch tactics and no one on earth knows their inventory or the weight of their items, so I specifically sought out a service with a flat hourly rate). -Overall, spending money on professional movers will be some of the best money that you will ever spend. Imagine the cost if you injure your back or the weeks of time versus hours that it will take to do this on your own or with your friends. -Make sure to budget for tipping your movers at least $20 each. These guys bust their butts more than anyone. Also, keep bottled water and snacks handy for them and make sure to bring toilet paper to the new location since they will need to use the restroom. Pros: -Our point of contact Jeff was super responsive and professional. -The guys that showed up got the job down and we tipped them all. They didn't slack off at all. -We have hardwood floors in the new place and we didn't want scratches. These guys are definite pros and they automatically wrap furniture, lay cardboard down on floors, and listen when you mark certain boxes and fragile. They knew what to do and we didn't feel the need at all to get involved in their process. -There were no broken items and not one scratch on the hardwoods or any smudges on the walls! That is impressive. Cons: -The only minor con that I observed is that the movers stopped to fill up for gas on our dime, once they were in transit with our items. Since we already paid for an hour of travel time, I expected their truck to be prefilled and ready to go before they showed up at our door. I called Buckhead Movers yesterday to get a quote for my move next month. I left a message for Jeff around 4ish and he called me back a little after 5pm. Jeff is very professional and thorough! He took the time to explain everything in detail to me and then went over it again when I had questions. He broke down the pricing, the driving and everything needed to make the appointment. He said I sounded pretty young based on my voice and gave me some advice about the move. It felt like I was speaking with my Dad, which is a really good thing for me! He went over the benefits of hiring them, such as performing routine background checks on all their employees, their employees are full-time - not contracted and they've been in business for 30 years. I didn't end up booking the appointment because a group of friends and family volunteered to help us move. But if I didn't have friends to help, I would totally book them today! read more

There were so many 5 star reviews I decided to go with Buckhead movers even though they are not the cheapest. I'm not convinced I made the best choice. The sales person Jeff was extremely professional and great to work with. I called 4 different movers and I ended up choosing Buckhead movers because he gives you the impression that they are absolute experts. First I want to mention that they also are part of Bull Dog movers, which I did not know until I received a phone call from Bull Dog movers confirming they are on their way but then they explained they are the same as Buckhead movers. So about the movers, I had 4 guys at the recommendation of Jeff. I was moving out a 2 Bedroom apartment but I moved most of my small stuff since I was moving 5 miles away. What was left for the movers to move was: 2 mattresses and 2 bedframes 1 sectional couch 1 dining table 1 desk 1 coffee table 2 dressers 3 night stands 4 dining room chairs 1 media console 1 sofa table 10 boxes already packed The estimate quote was I needed to pay for 4 hours (1 hour for transportation and 3 hours of actually moving). For the above items it took over 4 hours. The movers were actually really nice guys, but maybe too nice. 2 of them kept talking to me, which to not be rude I would talk back. But not too much, I'm not much a of chatter anyway. The other too were not chatty, but they were the doer's while the other 2 chatters seemed to be the leaders. The 2 non chatty don't do much unless told by the chatty's. I was moving the little stuff from my apartment to my car back and forth and back and forth and you know what I mean if you've ever moved out a building apartment. Anyway I felt like I was moving more that the movers. I would see them in the hallway just waiting, I don't know for what but I can definitely say they were not hustling. Even unwrapping items they were so slow. Of course I had to pay more than agreed because they went over their time. This was my first time hiring movers so I really had not much to compare to other movers. But I can say I've ordered more furniture and big items which required guys to unload trucks and assemble in my home. In response to Buckhead Movers. They did me no "courtesy" by trying to settle my claim. I paid for it! Beware again. Do NOT sign off that you received your items in good condition. After 2 full days of moving in, how can anyone possibly know if their items are broken or not when they are packed in boxes, crates and wrapped in cellophane? I have no idea who the person is who responded to my review. I went above and beyond to send pictures, call and email this company to settle my claim. By the way, make sure if you do have a claim to correspond by email in case you need to sue this company. Bulldog and Buckhead Movers are now one in the same although still using two separate names on the trucks, etc. I called Buckhead Movers but the truck said Bulldog when it arrived, so I guess I will put this review on both pages. Aside from the slight name confusion, this process was a breeze! I called and was given a quote. $130/hr for 3 movers. Sounds good. I put down a $100 deposit. When I initially called, I was given a 2 hour window in which the guys would arrive. And they arrived right in the middle of that. Perfect! All 3 guys were very nice and worked very efficiently even in the terrible heat we were having. Efficient, but very careful! Not one glass broken when I unpacked in the new place. They did not lollygag for a minute. I kept trying to have them sit and drink water but they kept on moving. I did load them up on cold drinks for their drive. Did I mention it was hot?! At the end of the move, I paid exactly what I was quoted and was able to use my credit card for that and then gave a cash tip to each guy. My wife and I have used Buckhead Movers 3 times and have never had a bad experience. Their team moves quickly without sacrificing quality of work. We have never had a broken or lost items when moving with them. Most recently, my wife and I moved into our first home in Acworth, Ga from a two bedroom townhouse in Smyrna. The whole process literally took 2 1/2 hours, when you count the fact that the drive from Smyrna to Acworth is about 30 minutes the actual moving took less time. We were amazed at how quick they were and how great their team was in putting everything exactly where we wanted it! I will never, ever, Ever, EVER move without professional help again. I'm the first to admit that I'm not a rich girl, and hiring movers did make me feel a little bougie, but honest-to-god, y'all, Buckhead Movers made my stress level go from 9.1 to 2 (on a ten point scale) in no time flat. My boyfriend and I were moving from two separate apartments to one house, so I anticipated that the move was going to be tricky. Not so! There was one little hitch (turns out they couldn't fit the moving truck under the Krog Street Tunnel to get to Cabbagetown) but it was fixed quickly and the communication was smooth. Once the movers arrived, it was smooth going. If I had moved everything myself with friends, it would have taken 5 hours to do my apartment alone. With Buckhead movers, they loaded both apartments, unloaded everything where we wanted it in the new house (without any damage), and were out the door in under 3 and a half hours. I kid you not, friends, this was a major feat. All I had to do was sit back and watch (or not watch, as it happens, when they delicately moved my couch out of my apartment by handing it over the second floor balcony ((which was how it had to be, I got it in the same way))) - when I tried to help I was politely shooed away and told to relax. Yes sir, I am a fan of Buckhead Movers. It wasn't as expensive as I had anticipated hiring movers being - so I had a little cash left over. I called and set up my appointment for 4 movers at $150 an hour. I was also given a 2 hour window (between 8-10) for the movers to arrive, and they arrived at 8:15 with FIVE movers! These guys were fantastic. Everyone introduced themselves, were very respectful, and fast moving. We were finished so quickly moving from one place to another, that my only issue was not having enough cash to give each movers a bigger tip (each got a tip, but it was the cash I had planned for the 4 guys, not five). As someone who has moved 10 times in 12 years, I have experienced a wide range of moving services. I can say with confidence that Buckhead Movers is definitely one of the best! From my estimate/booking call with Jeff, to Red and his crew pulling away from our new home - it was a seamless, professional and thorough experience from start to finish. Our movers were Red and his team. They arrived on the earlier side of the arrival window we were quoted and immediately set to work. They were quick while still being careful. All of our furniture was wrapped and loaded into the truck. It was clear they were experienced and we didn't feel any need to supervise or guide them with our belongings. Upon arrival to our new home, they lined our hardwood floors to protect them from scratches and expertly maneuvered staircases and doorways to get everything in damage-free. I couldn't believe they completed the job as quickly as they did. We would have been more than happy with this job well-done, but Red and his team went above and beyond in two major ways: (1) When disassembling our king bed, they mentioned that we were missing washers on the screws - our last movers must have lost them and never bothered to mention it to us when they put the bed back together. Buckhead Movers gave us time to make a run to Lowes to buy the necessary parts and re-assembled our bed properly! (2) When they arrived at our new house, our baby had just gone down for his morning nap. Red and team COMPLETED THE ENTIRE MOVE WITHOUT WAKING A SLEEPING BABY. They waited until every other room was completed before I finally had to wake my son so they could move in the nursery furniture. We used Buckhead Movers and I am very impressed. After a very bad experience with Two Men and a Truck we were a bit worried about hiring movers again. Jeff and his team erased all fear. Our movers were incredibly nice, they made it to our location early and set right to work. Everything was properly wrapped and moved very carefully with no damage. Even though the team ended up being only two guys rather than three (the rate was adjusted to reflect that) they knocked the job out without complaint. After 10 years of moving ourselves, my wife and I decided to hire Buckhead Movers. This was, by far and away, the best move we have ever had. The driver called within the promised time. He had one less man than we had asked for, but he assured us of a discount which we did get. Movers showed up, introduced themselves and hit the ground running. They took more care with our house and possessions than we have ever though to do. They also moved fast! We offered water and gatorade, but they declined until the job was done. Moving the stuff into the new house was just as seemless. Protection and great care taken to not ding the house or the furniture. Moving has to be one of the worst experiences one could go through, and while not totally painless, Buckhead Movers made our move the best we've ever had. Being the poor planners that my husband and I are, I called Buckhead Movers about a week before we had to be out of our apartment and they were able to fit us in. My husband happened to have a work related trip on our move in date so I was on my own. I was pretty nervous, but the Buckhead Movers were great. They communicated with me throughout the morning they were to arrive and they came on time. They moved everything very efficiently and carefully. I expected to be annoyed at their speed since they get paid by the hour and I assumed they'd move a bit slower, but they kept a very fast pace. The three guys were all friendly as well. Moving sucks. I see others have written scathing reviews about this company and wanted to make sure my experience was shared as well. So many issues I'm not sure where to start but to keep it short and stating facts: 1. My original quote was $7K to move from GA to MD. It ended up being over $14K. Shawn never came out to our house to look at what was being moved. 2. They were 3 DAYS LATE past our scheduled delivery date which put us late going on vacation even though we still had to pay for our hotel and rearrange travel - not to mention being shorted of our family vacation. 3. You can FORGET about getting any kind of phone call from the owner or Shawn when trying to get any kind of response. Haven't heard from Shawn since the truck was delayed and never got a call from the owner despite leaving several messages. The head mover Bruce told me he called them from Arkansas when he was a day away (he was sent to CA before our move and knew he was going to be delayed) to tell them he would be there the next day and to have his truck with our belongings ready so he could leave first thing the next day. Instead he arrived to find his truck not packed and was parked behind several other moving trucks which he had to move himself and perform his own truck inspection. 4. Here is the BIG "We Got Screwed": We paid $600 for non-deductible insurance. They packed our big screen tv and when we opened it we could hear the parts inside fall to the ground. They didn't repair or replace it even though they packed it. 5. It has taken over 2 months after we submitted our claims to have any kind of answer and most of the issues we either had already fixed our selves or they denied our claim. We had our builder repair the dents in the wall and the numerous scratches they left as well as replace a wooden step they damaged because it was a brand new home and we wanted it clean. 6. They dropped a king sized mattress over the balcony when they were packing the first house in GA and left a scrape down the wall, damaged a door jam, and dented the door handle below. Have never mentioned it even though I sent pictures to Bruce about an hour after they left. Despite all of these issues, I still TIPPED and FED the crews on both legs of the trip. This is our 7th house and we have NEVER had these issues with any other moving company. I am appalled at their lack of accountability. We still have not received a reimbursement check or had our damaged furniture repaired and after reading other reviews I fear this will go on for quite some time. I have pictures of all these items. I dare them to say I'm making any of this up. I will be calling the BBB to report this scummy company. Go ANYWHERE else. And if you read this and decide to take your business elsewhere, please call or email them and let them know this review is the reason you won't be using them. Truely a horrible experience. Took over 4 hours to move a one bedroom apartment. The movers were 3 hours let to start and then moved as slowly as possible throughout the process. Asked for me to round to the beginning of the hour even though the arrived at nearly 45 minutes into the hour. After finally getting everything loaded and getting to the new apartment proceeded to break a piece of furniture stop for nearly an hour to document the breakage (which I was not reimbursed for, either the time or the piece of furniture). Once they finally got back to work one of the four workers I was forced to get to make it a faster process disappeared for a half hour while the other guys finished up. Then while signing paperwork the team leader again tried to round the hour up even thought it was only 5 after. Afterwards the company refused to help in anyway with the broken furniture or the fact that the employees were incredibly slow. Also the team never hesitated throughout the process to make it clear that a tip is allowed/expected. Go with anywhere else this was a truly awful experience and should not be rewarded ever. read more

The customer service rep from Buckhead Movers was in contact with me first thing Monday morning after the move. They scheduled a repairman to come out Friday. He arrived right on time, was very helpful and had my floors repaired within 30 minutes. They look good as new. The customer service rep that called me Monday morning explained that the movers are supposed to put protective covering over hardwoods. My crew just missed that detail. I would use Buckhead Movers again but I would be sure to remind the crew to be careful to protect my floors, banister and walls. read more

Buckhead Movers was the worst moving company that I have ever hired. They arrived several hours late. They did not use padding to protect my wood floors and scratched my wood floors, they scractched my refrigertor, cracked the granite top on my dresser, did not put my bed together properly, did not attach my china cabinet to its base, broke my son's trophy, broke one of the legs on my sofa. One of guys took 3 hours to put together my twin beds. One of the guys consistantly talked on his cell phone. When I called the office to report the damage they requested that I give them $300 dollars first and they would pay any remaining balance. I would Not use this company at all! The works are nice and hussell but they do not take there time. We paid for them to package our TV and when they were unwrapping it they used a razor blade and put a nice long scratch down my plasma tv. The screen can not be replaced. Plus they put several nice size dings on the walls while moving the funiture. When I called the owner about the scratch he defaulted blame to the dsh network worker and stated his workers dont carry knifes. Well he tried to repair my Tv and could not. When he brought it back guess what his workers opened the packaging with. A KNIFE. I fell the owner is responisble for this and fails to follow through with anything he said he was going to do. The guys that showed up to move us were not uniformed, in a 1-866-u-move truck, and said they just started. I just didn't have a good experience from the very first call to Donna. I found Buckhead Movers on Kudzu. They said their number one salesman was sick and Donna would take good care of us. Wrong the movers were horrible, smoking cigarrettes and laughing the entire time. When they showed up there was no equipment on the truck. He explained everything step by step and called/text back answering all my questions. What a great company! My boyfriend spoke with Jeff who was super informative and while the rate was higher than other companies it was well worth it, he made us feel completely comfortable. We were moving our 1 bdr room worth of stuff that was stored in a 10 x 10 storage unit that took us forever, and i mean forever to move ourselves with some friendly help. After the exhausting move there, and my boyfriend being so beat and dealing with Uhaul etc. I decided that when we moved into our new apartment we were using a moving service period. Definitely the best decision I made. They meet us at the storage unit and had it unloaded within 30-40 minutes!!! it took us twice that time. When we got to the apartment they unloaded it (2nd flr apt) in just as quickly, they were super careful with all of our things, always asking exactly where we wanted everything. Did a TON of research before deciding to go with Buckhead Movers. They were a bit on the high end but I liked their reviews and thought the salesperson, Billy, was an honest person. There were quite a few bumps before, during and after the move, including getting a call on the day of the move to reschedule to the following day because they did not have enough guys. The bottom line - ran into typical issues with any large move - some guys were great, some were very slow; some damages, etc. I am giving them 4 stars because of the professional way they handled all the issues. From Billy, the salesperson, who was very professional to Sally, claims handler who was reasonable and I could tell she wanted to resolve our issues amicably. It took the owner a little longer to finalize the issues than I would've liked, but I'm satisfied with the way everything got resolved. Would recommend them. read more

Sales person was informative. We had a 4 men crew. I would say 2 of them were pretty good. One was Ok and I would not recommend the 4th person. So the move went quick and they were timely. However, they ended up breaking one of our flat screen TVs to the point where it was not useable. They cracked the screen. The 2nd TV was damaged cosmetically but works. I had paid extra for having these crated and even with that, they damaged them. The person that was in charge of crating the TVs did not even have the proper tools to crate properly! They offered 3 insurance options. I ended up selecting the most basic option, as I assumed that these guys are professionals with experience and also felt confident since i had paid extra for crating service. Little did I know that I should have moved the 2 televisions on my own somehow! After I contacted their claims department, it was a bit of a hassle to get them to pay me for the damages. The TV that got a crack in the screen was a $600 television and they ended up reimbursing me $400 for it. Overall, i would not recommend them. There were some positives, but when you end up with 2 damaged Televisions, I think the timeliness and efficiency no longer matter. read more

I think the five star reviews are misleading. The sales person was fine to deal with. There are several key factors that you should be aware of prior to choosing this company. First, make sure everything that was supposed to be moved is moved. Our move was a very short distance. We ended up sourcing additional services to move the pieces that were identified (with tape) for movement but that were left behind. Second, check all of you walls after the movers are finished. You will be rushed to say everything is okay and that the trucks are empty. We had to employ drywall and paint pros to repair damage in more than three locations in both residences. Finally, be prepared for someone to ask you if you have every used movers before. The follow up will be that "our customers usually provide meals, but that's okay..." One last item, a piece of our furniture was damaged. I said that I would have it fixed and would have been happy to have left it at that. The response from the guy that seemed to be in charge was, "good, because that would have come out of one of those guys paychecks." Updated: The business followed up after this, review. I had such high hopes after speaking with Jeff at Buckhead Movers and wow what a let down. -Jeff advised me that I would be receiving 3 movers at a rate of $135/hr plus a $75 transportation fee. I went with Buckhead movers specifically for this reason - as 2 Men & a Truck offered the same rate but for a 2 man crew. Jeff advised me that the 3 men would be arriving between 8:30-10:00am and would call me when they were leaving their location in Doraville so I could expect their arrival. I received no phone call and was advised only of their location when they called me from my front gate call box to be let in. -When they arrived there was only 2 men. They told me that the rate would only be $115 since they had something "come up" and there were only 2 of them. I e-mailed Jeff as soon as they arrived and told him that not only had I chosen them specifically for the 3 man crew but that I thought It was completely ridiculous that it was only $20 cheaper. I told him it was completely unprofessional that they gave me NO prior knowledge and simply SHOWED UP with 2 men when we agreed previously on the 3 man crew due to the fact that my furniture is extremely heavy and I was on the 3rd level of my apartment complex. He responded telling me he had "no idea" why the operations manager only sent 2 men and that Lori, the operations manager, would be contacting me shortly. Lori never contacted me. -I told Jeff that my current apartment complex was redoing their sidewalks and because of the recent rain it was pretty muddy out and asked if I needed to go and get some sort of tarp or something to keep the movers from tracking mud/dirt into and out of my old apartment as well as my new one. He advised me that they "do this all the time" and they have protection to lay down at both locations. NEITHER location received this treatment. -Clearly one guy was new and the other guy spent the majority of the time explaining the process to him. Needless to say the wrapping of the furniture was unacceptable and several damages took place. -By hour 3 of what was estimated as a 3 hour TOTAL move (It was 9 pieces of furniture total. NO boxes, no TVs, nothing) the movers were on the last item when a 3rd man showed up. He did absolutely nothing as the packing from location one was already nearly complete. -I was waiting outside while they finished putting the last item in the truck. I thought they would tell me they were finished and moving on to the next location, but my assumption went on the fact that they would be professional, which clearly I was wrong. They hopped in the truck and left. I assumed they had the next location address and everything was in order, since they didn't advise me they were even leaving. -I got in my car and ended up in front of them and my mother was behind following them. -I got to the new place first and they hadn't arrived. My mother called me stating they had passed the apartment, she wildly honked and flagged them to turn around, but no response. She turned around and came back to the complex. After 10 minutes I received a call that they were "lost." First of all, as a MOVING company BASED in Buckhead headed to an apartment complex IN Buckhead - how are you LOST? Secondly, at a time when EVERYONE and their 90 year old grandmother has a GPS, smartphone, etc - HOW ARE YOU LOST? THREE MEN could not figure out how to get to this apartment. I tried to guide them back but having no idea where they were, I was not much help. After OVER 20 minutes and 3 more phone calls they FINALLY show up. At this point, Lori the operations manager had not called me and we were in hour FOUR of this simple ONE bedroom apartment move. -They arrived and began unpacking but took no time before they broke my neighbor across the halls outdoor light and scuffed up 3 different walls in my apartment. -I called Lori since she clearly wasn't calling me - no answer. I called Jeff since I couldn't get a hold of Lori - no answer. -As they unpacked I saw not only did my dresser have a huge CHUNK missing out of the side but the bed frame was also missing a chunk as well as the headboard was cracked. -At hour FIVE before they were even complete I advised them they needed to leave as I could no longer afford to pay them. I had to write down the broken items as they "didn't notice." Oh. Of course. -After I nearly had an emotional MELTDOWN, I called Lori AGAIN, and finally spoke to her. I told her about the whole incident and she said she would "look into it" and call me back. A few hours later I received a call that they would take off the $75 trip fee and 30 minutes for "getting lost" - yeah, of course you are. WHY WOULD I PAY YOU TO WONDER AROUND BUCKHEAD? -Oh and don't worry about my damages, instead of paying me for them they wanted to send out some "fix it" company who left me a voicemail and didn't even tell me the company they worked for. Not a good experience. We are missing an iPad Pro and have a broken table. The claims process is not easy.

They lost marble chest top. Then said they had found and would deliver. No word for weeks then, when I called to follow up, the agreed to deliver to my office. No show, no call. When I followed up, "oops, we lost it again". Continued to chase them without success until new person (Rebecca) assigned to deal with me. She asked for a photo and dimensions, which she received. Then, I hear no more from her but learn I have now been assigned to Sherry when she e-mails to tell me that, since they can't figure out what it is worth, I need to run around and get estimates and then get back to them. I refuse to do it. They have been jerking me around for 4 months now and I have no reasonable expectation at this point that submitting estimates to them will produce anything other than either more excuses from them or more busy work for me.
