Every time we pass a Mark the Mover truck we look at each other and say "we have to write that review!" So, a month late here it is. We used Mark the Mover last month to move about few miles across Atlanta and the experience was amazing from start to finish. My husband called and Paul got everything scheduled and made sure we were prepared for the move. My husband was going to be out of town for the move but Paul reassured him that his guys were the epitome of professional and even gave us his personal number in case things weren't going well. A few days before the move he called to make sure we were packed and offered to send over some packers if we weren't finished (much cheaper than the moving crew per hour). He wanted to make sure we got the most out of the lift and load guys when they arrived. We were able to get everything boxed but really appreciated the call. On the day of the move the team called before our scheduled start time to confirm the addresses, size of the move, and confirm any extra supplies they needed. They arrived on time, got parked, and got to work. The elevator in our building was broken (excellent timing-if we had moved two days earlier or a day later it would have been running) but the guys didn't complain. They took such care with all of our stuff, wrapping couches, chairs and mattresses to prevent damage, labeling things for an efficient move in, and being extra careful going around corners to avoid scratching the walls. It was so appreciated! They were kind to the dog and each on individually checked in with me asking "how is the move going" at least once during the 4+ hour move. When we got to the new house they were FLYING boxes got tucked in the correct rooms quickly, everything. Was unloaded with care, anything I had forgotten to label they checked in about so I wouldn't have any upstairs boxes stranded downstairs after they left. To top it all off they even moved some heavy work out equipment in the garage 8 inches over when I realized it was too close to the wall. All off this in the Atlanta heat, afternoon traffic, and with me asking "what should I do" through out the day. The answer was always "sit down and relax-we've got this". I've had such negative experiences with moving companies in the past (under quoting, breaking full pieces of furniture after dropping it or packing poorly in the truck, and "lost" boxes) I was so nervous before we started but I couldn't have dreamed up a lower stress experience. Mark the Mover had been recommended to us by friends. Setting up the appointment time went smoothly, and the movers arrived on time and were pleasant and professional. They moved us from a house to a storage unit. Unfortunately, we were unable to observe all the items as they came off the truck and were placed in the storage unit, because now, they're only offering to pay $50 for a handmade desk they broke but didn't tell us about. The desk was placed too far back in the storage unit for us to see it until we were able to move out of the unit, at which point we discovered it broken. They continue to deny any liability for this damage for a litany of reasons that, while they might hold up in court, are inaccurate and disappointingly dishonest. I would not recommend using Mark the Mover unless 1) you are able to watch (or even better, take video of) the movers carrying each and every one of your things from origin to truck, and from truck to destination, or 2) you can do 1) *and also* afford to pay for full-value insurance protection instead of the basic released-value option. 1st: Very expensive. Very, very expensive. It was much more expensive with them to move 1 mile with a lot fewer items compared to moving from 5 States away with a lot more furniture (6 months ago). 2nd: They over wrap and box things. For example, each tupperware lid (made of plastic) was wrapped with 3 sheets of paper and boxed. Plastic doesn't break. But, they do charge for the paper and boxes. 3rd: In spite of the super high cost, they still damage things. It is inevitable in any move. A chest drawer broken. Scratched wooden furniture. I won't file for reimbursement because everyone knows how that goes - more trouble than it's worth. 4th: Yes, as reported by others, they do charge for their travel time to your location. Yes, they do charge for their time to get their own boxes and supplies from their own warehouse. The price just keeps adding up and up and up. My Advice: Find someone cheaper. You'll likely be just as happy with the move plus you'll have money left in your wallet. read more

The basic information is sent in an email and they have paper documents that the movers bring on the day of the move, when they are already there and you can't do anything about it. "Industry standard" fees are just an excuse to charge more than appropriate. read more

Gibson answered all of our questions on the front-end, our move crew was FANTASTIC, and Robert handled our claim quickly when we noticed one small accident that happened in transit. Mack and the team that moved us were hilarious but professional. Very thorough. Smiled through it all, even in the 90+ degree heat. They even took special care to protect our floors and make sure they didn't ding any walls. I had a house, and am moving (well, moved!) to an apartment, while I extend my search for a condo. I was SUPER NERVOUS about all my furniture - I have a lot of brand new Ethan Allen stuff, including my pride and joy, my white silk area rug and white upholstered bed. That's $10k in two pieces of furniture. I got the extra insurance, as none of my stuff is cheap (except the IKEA TV stand, but they treated that with as much care as the pricey stuff). I've hired movers before who have RUINED expensive stuff. (I had a $5k armoire that went to charity after Two Men...ahem...bounced it up a 5 story walk-up on a dolly.) Not these guys!!!! Calvin (team lead) personally took charge of the aforementioned bed, and his team were super fast, efficient, and careful. They didn't call it done until I had personally approved all furniture in its proper place ("oh, could we move that back maybe two inches, please?") and we did the final walk-through verifying NO DAMAGE. Hints if you hire the crew: 1. Buy your packing supplies from them at their warehouse. Boxes for my 2 bedroom were about $105. They also rent you a flat-screen TV bag (my TV is 55 inches) and get the BOXES, not the bags, for your mattresses. My guys brought the latter items on the truck, and packed the TV and mattresses for me. Super helpful if you're trying to fit all those packing materials into a Honda Civic. 2. Be ready. I was ready. This helped a bunch. 3. Read your contract. I made sure to get the extra insurance, just in case, because of this - piece of mind, you know? 4. Calvin and team = awesome NO DAMAGE. I called Mark the Mover along with 2 other top-rated Yelp movers. The experience started with the initial phone call. Breanna asked me to go through a detailed list of furniture, square footage and even went on to my Zillow listing to look at each room. She told me I needed 2 trucks and 5 guys. I thought there's no way I needed 2 trucks. The other two companies only asked me square footage and gave me much lower quotes, with only 1 truck. Guess how many trucks I needed. Breanna was spot on. So yeah, you may not get the cheapest quote from MTM, but it will be more detailed and probably closer to reality. The first thing foreman Charly said when he walked into the house on moving day was "You can relax now, I got this." He absolutely had it all under control. His crew worked as a team and so efficiently. My new neighbors even commented how fast they got us in. Not once did I see them standing around; they hustled during the entire move. A couple of days ago, I was on the Milton Parkway close to noon. Traffic was heavy and a Mark the Mover truck rode my bumper with mere inches between us. I was not going too slow. I rapidly pumped my breaks to get my tail lights to flash, in hopes he would get off my tail. He seemed to get the hint. I was flowing with traffic and I could not run into the the guy in front of me to make their Volvo truck happy. He got in another lane (driving a tad fast) and as he moved, the closed in load (furniture??) was swerving. I thought to myself that he may be a great packer. He may show up on time. But there is NO way I would let such a cavalier driver transport my goods. I don't like to write a bad review on anyone, but this company needs to give its drivers a wake up call. read more

We used these guys for a second time today. They again did an Excellent job moving several heavy pieces of bedroom furniture from our foyer up the front stairs to the bedrooms. The project also included moving our old furniture downstairs to the garage for charity pick up, moving a few pieces from our bonus room down to the basement, & an armoire from the basement to the garage. I would be very cautious before using Mark the Mover. I made the costly mistake of not getting a written estimate and I was charged over $4,000 for a two bedroom condo to be moved into storage. Since they billed me for 11 1/2 hours to pack & load a two bedroom condo (with no appliances and no sofas), this mistake will end up costing me thousands of dollars. Needless to say, my recent move has been a terrible experience. Now I'm being told it will be another $800 to simply release my things from storage and stack them at the edge of their loading dock for me to pick up. Don't let this happen to you. To top it all off, today they rescinded the offer of a $250 credit they offered me yesterday because I let Yelp users know of my horrible experience. Needless to say, I will be filing a formal complaint with the GA Dept of Public Safety based on the actions of Mark the Mover. I now understand why movers have such stellar business reputations! Mark the Mover was hired by my flooring contractor. The move was fine - including a baby grand piano. However, I was not here when they returned my furniture back. They brought some furniture through the patio doors rather than using the stairs. They apparently bumped something into my Italian pottery patio table, knocking it askew on its base and taking a 2 inch chip out of the side. When I finally got them to come out to inspect the damage, they insisted it was not them. They claimed my yard service probably did it, even though the table top weighs 70 pounds and a mere bump with a leaf blower would not have done that kind of damage. (No tree branch either - the chip is on the side and the table was knocked in the direction of the chip.) The assessor made me feel like a criminal. I finally told him to just leave and I'd get it fixed myself. Rotten customer service - if you use them, just hope you don't need anything more from them. read more

We opted to drive the truck ourselves to save money, and Mark the Mover wrapped and packed everything. We had a crazy move in December. There was a little hiccup with the MTM team. I reached out to the owner John Warren and we had a great conversation and he stepped up and did more than I asked. We moved back in September and I meant to post a review then. This is the second moving company we've used, and the experiences were night and day. Mark the mover was more expensive than most other quotes I received, but because they had 4 (instead of 3) guys on the job and because they were SO fast and efficient it saved us so much money! Plus nothing was broken in the move, probably due to their wrapping all of our furniture in multiple layers of padding and saran wrap. They also took the time to add felt pads to the bottom of all of our furniture in the new place. It took Mark the Mover about 3 hours to move our 2 bedroom apartment about 20 minutes away, including having to deal with the elevator in the apartment building. I have moved with Mark the Mover twice. The first time it was great. The guys showed up on time and were quick and efficient. I recommended them to a friend and he used them too and had the same results. The second time was a huge disappointment. I was moving into a condo so I had a set time for the elevator reservation. The time the movers were supposed to arrive came and went. I called the office and they told me they had accidentally sent my crew to another job. So I had to wait an hour for a new crew. The elevator reservation started before we even got the first thing on the truck. I was lucky no one else had reserved the elevator that day so I could shift the time back. If that wouldn't have been the case I would not have been able to move that day. The movers showed up and they were very nice. They packed up the truck and set off for the condo. I gave them a map showing them where the loading dock was and the address of the new place. I get there in 10 minutes and waited at the loading dock for them. An hour passed before they showed up. I have no clue what they were doing for that hour. They barely got everything in before my reservation time was up. They only charged me for 30 minutes of their lost time other than that no concession for my frustration and aggravation. I won't be using them again. read more

Okay, so it's been just over a year since I've used this moving company, so I can't vouch for their current level of service. But I definitely plan to use them again when we move in a few months! I found Mark the Mover on Kudzu and they had good ratings. I needed to get a bunch of heavy furniture from my grandparents' three-story condo into my new apartment. Boyfriend Mark was still in Arizona, so he couldn't help with the heavy lifting. So I found another Mark to move me! It wasn't cheating, I swear. I called up Mark the Mover, got a quote and then called a few other places to compare prices. Mark's had the second-best quote and I had a better feeling about them, overall...gotta listen to that intuition! The 4 movers showed up on the later side of the hour-long arrival time frame I had been given. At first glance, I wasn't sure I had made the best choice. One guy looked like he was around 50. None of them were very big or sturdy. But they came in, I showed them what all needed to be moved, and man...those guys got to work! In less than an hour, they had moved two large dressers, two arm chairs, a TV and TV stand, kitchen table and chairs, a vanity with a large mirror (which they carefully unscrewed and wrapped), a VERY heavy sofa bed, some end tables, an armoire, etc. We headed over to my place, I showed them which rooms corresponded to the labels I had stuck on all the furniture, and in even less time they had unloaded everything, put it all exactly where I wanted it, reassembled the vanity, put the cushions back on the couch and armchairs, and... here's the best part- by the time the movers were finished, it was a little over two hours...maybe 2 hours and 15 minutes. But they only charged me for 2 hours flat, whereas most places round up to the next half-hour or hour! When the movers left I just stood there looking around in amazement. Everything was where it should be. Easiest move ever. Nothing was broken or scratched. These guys went above and beyond!! **Note- I was going to go with three movers instead of four, but Mark the Mover employee Paul advised that I take the pricier quote for 4 movers, because they could move everything faster with the extra person and save me more money in the long run. Total cost of the move: $300. Cost of getting the move done in 2 hours and not having my friends and family hate me for roping them in to spending half a day moving all that stuff: Priceless. read more

I found the guys to be fairly courteous and they were prompt. However that's where the professionalism ended. They were not efficient, they were very slow and my local move ended up taking over eight hours to finish. Even taking that long they did not wrap furniture that should've been wrapped and ended up damaging a couple things and scratching my glass table top. When I explained all of this to Kevin, the sales manager, nothing ever came of it. I would never recommend Mark the mover, or use them again. 3/10/16 - now that I have had a chance to unpack everything and get everything sorted out since the move, I feel that I should share a few additional comments. I actually had items go missing. I don't know if they were broken and damaged and the guys didn't have the decency to tell me or they were just thieves. Either way I'm missing items from this move. Finally. I am done moving for the REST of my life. Or so I hope. I'm a military brat and I have lived so many places and as an adult I moved around a lot for work or change of scenery. I used to joke about always having boxes ready to move in case of emergencies. So I am an experienced mover and dealt with many companies. I moved 3 times in 2014. Mark the Mover moved us into our forever home after New Year's for the fourth and final time in 365 days. Whew! The gentlemen were on time, quick and friendly. They took great care in wrapping our furniture and although it was raining they didn't complain like a company I used before called ahem ... Two men and... Although a few religious evangelists might feel otherwise, I am excited to kick off cohabitation with my fiance. I knew this would be the most stressful move thus far of my life and decided to invest in movers for the big items, mainly furniture. Mark the Mover arrived at Stop One, my apartment, within the promised 8 - 9 a.m. timeframe and immediately asked me to give them an overview of what was to be packed into their ginormous truck. The three men soon started shrink wrapping my couches and mattresses and protecting my large artwork with blankets. They had to remove a leg from my dilapidated dining table to get it through the rickety entryway. After picking up my fiance's few pieces of furniture (some of which were deposited on the sidewalk by the trashcan per their hideousness), they helped us set everything up. When problems arose, they knew what to do, such as removing a door to allow room for the washer and dryer and hauling my enormous camelback sofa through the back double doors. The job took 4.5 hours and cost about $750 with tip and insurance. (Nothing got damaged, by the way, except for a nice plastic container.) At certain points, I wondered if a couple of the men were lollygagging outside; my fiance and I agree that the process should have taken 3.5 hours or 4 hours tops. One of the movers, Andy, was completely awesome and hard-working at all seconds - which I find respectful toward my money and time. He does MMA fighting on the side under the nickname The Wolf. I snuck a peek at the trio of wolf tattoos on his arm. Aa-ooooo! (That's a wolf howl.) ...movers are totally worth it. read more

I live in Midtown in Atlanta and had to move to the Vinings/Smyrna area. I chose "Mark the Mover" exclusively on their high ratings and honestly didn't even do any price shopping around. Their reviews were that good. Now that I'm a customer, I can really see why! From start to finish, my moving job took 3 hours which was pretty fast in my opinion since I'm moving from a 2 bedroom to another 2 bedroom. I worked with Antonio and he was very accommodating and easy to work with. The moving crew leader was named Jabastian and he was also extremely friendly and easy to work with. I don't think I have a lot of expensive stuff, but I do want to protect the stuff I do have and so I price was almost a secondary concern. Trustworthiness was really the main concern and Mark The Mover really exceeded my expectations. Moving is stressful enough without having to worry about the movers and choosing Mark the Mover really put my mind at ease. I'd give my business to them again in a heartbeat.
