*HOT TIP!* If you're flying to Seattle, and you plan to visit the Space Needle during your trip there, make sure there's enough room in your luggage before you head to the airport! I've taken a multitude of photos of the various gifts, some of which are pretty large in size, so if there are some gifts you'd like to take back to family/friends back home, you'll have a better idea of how much to pack for your trip. After visiting the top of the Space Needle, I stopped by the SpaceBase Gift Shop to get a few gifts for myself before heading back home to SoCal. There's an elevator that will take you directly to the gift shop, which is located at the base of the Space Needle. You can actually see the gift shop from one floor above once you enter the Space Needle; however, enjoy the views and elevator rides first before you browse this gift shop! In addition to the gifts that show the Space Needle, the gift shop has a ton of generic Seattle merch that you could get at any other gift shop in Seattle: sweaters, mugs, books, hats, and even some Seattle chocolate at the register albeit Maeve. The gift shop sports a lot of merch from all Seattle sports teams: Kraken, Seahawks, Mariners, Sounders, Storm, and the defending NBA champion (sort of, no not really lol) Seattle Supersonics. Even though you're more likely to see Seahawks (congrats on the recent Super Bowl title!) than any other team elsewhere in Seattle, the gift shop had more Seattle Kraken instead, likely because the Space Needle is located so close to Climate Pledge Arena. I don't know which there were more of in this gift shop: Actual Space Needle gifts or just generic Seattle gifts, including the sports teams. However, I only wanted gifts that showed the Space Needle because if I'm going back home to prove that I did visit the Space Needle, how would a Seattle, Washington mug or a Seattle Kraken flag prove that? lol Even with generic non-Space Needle merch that could be purchased elsewhere, likely a duty-free shop at SeaTac Airport, there's still a good amount of Space Needle gifts for sale at this shop. My visit was during the fall, when it was pretty cold and cloudy in Puget Sound, so I had to pack extra, heavier clothing for my trip. This meant less space in my luggage, so I couldn't really choose the larger gifts not knowing if I'd even have room for them when I fly back home. Some of the gifts are seasonal, like for example, Space Needle Christmas ornaments. I saw a handful of them during my visit, which was back in November. Other gifts like puzzles, building blocks, books, and drinkware I can see being sold year-round. I'd be curious to see what other gifts are offered during the other holidays, like maybe an Easter bunny plushie donning a Space Needle shirt or some Space Needle artwork depicting 4th of July fireworks in the background? It took a while to decide what to get, but I settled on three gifts: Space Needle glow-in-the-dark t-shirt, mini Space Needle Figurine, and a DIY Model Kit that should take about 30 minutes to assemble. The cashier also asked if I'd like a tote bag for an additional $1.50. I asked what it looked like, and it was simply a mini Space Needle tote bag, which I gladly accepted since it was only a small fraction of the total cost. I did see some Maeve chocolate bars at the register, which confused me until I later found out Seattle Chocolate is now Maeve Chocolate. One of the concerns I had about the Space Needle figurine, which is an officially licensed Space Needle product I must add, is that the needle tip would be sharp enough to poke a hole somewhere, especially in my luggage. Luckily, the cashier quelled my fear by wrapping my figurine in paper before completing the transaction. There are a few machines in the shop that will generate collectible items related to the Space Needle or at least the City of Seattle. There's a Mold-a-matic machine that can create a small Space Needle souvenir model for only $5, and it can be done in just minutes. I didn't go through on this, but there are step-by-step instructions to guide you through this process. There's a vending machine of Seattle Medallions where you can get one for $5 each or 4 for $15, which really translates to buy 3, get 1 free. Three other penny smashing machines are prevalent in the shop to generate Space Needle souvenir coins as well. I didn't bring any coins with me on this trip; now I'm kind of regretting that lol. Overall, a good stop at this gift shop before I flew back home. Even if you're a Seattle native, I'd still recommend stopping by to see if there's a large gift that you could use at home! read more

Located on the bottom most tourist accessible floor of the Space Needle Observation Tower in Seattle, the SpaceBase Gift Shop sells all the usual wares, including quite a few models of the tower itself, made out of many different materials. I have been wanting to go to the Space Needle since watching Sleepless in Seattle when I was 12 yo. My husband booked flights to and 5-star hotel in Seattle to make this an amazing bucket list trip. I decided to stop by this gift shop while waiting for our 2 pm appt on Space Needle. We were able to find quite a few things. When it was time to check out, we noticed we had less than 10 min until we were scheduled for Space Needle, so we went to self-checkout. There were 2 open kiosks. The older East Indian woman (working at self-checkout at 1:50ish on 1/23/24) was not shy in showing her racism. There was a family ahead of us that was allowed to go through self-checkout without any questions, comments, , or harassment. As we approached self-checkout, she told us to go to another register where we could have a cashier check us out. Then, we explained we didn't want to wait in line because we were scheduled for 2 pm for the Space Needle. She then proceeded to get off her stoop, walk over, scan all of our items for us, and watch us pay. This ruined my Space Needle experience, as I was pissed after this. We spent less than 10 min in the Space Needle. I was so upset. After my tainted Space Needle experience, my husband went and requested a manager and a refund of all the merchandise as we didn't want any momentos of this racist experience. The manager apologized and offered 50% off. However, this happened on my anniversary and destroyed an experience I'd waited 30 years to have. Therefore, we instead took a full refund. I would steer clear of this gift shop unless you want to risk having your trip ruined. Many gift shops along the pier have awesome merchandise and customer service. read more

I didn't actually go in the store. While in Seattle my coworker was looking for a Seattle t shirt (that didn't have a sports team). This was the only place we could find open past 7pm to get a Seattle t shirt. He ended up getting one for his wife and one for his granddaughter, so sounds like they had a good selection. You'll pay top dollar for souvenirs here- but the selection is near endless. I didn't look at everything, I barely looked at 1/4 of the store- I was distracted by shiny objects! In my case- hand blown glass balls, brilliant colors and tons of variety! I seriously considered buying one, but I was worried about getting it home without breaking it. Instead I opted for a new hat and a patch! Check out is interesting- you line up (socially distancing) and when the cashier calls you to a register you scan your items yourself and wait for the cashier to finish the sale. In my case, I scanned and nothing happened and the cashier was busy helping the people in line after me- oh well. When he realized I was still waiting he told me to scan the items... um, I did. Scan again- nothing happens. He scans, nothing happens. I broke it. I didn't really- but it wasn't working, so he had to manually key it in. Even as a tourist, I don't like visiting cheesy souvenir store. SpaceBase Gift Shop is located at the base of Space Needle. You can get all sort of Space Needle related keepsake and merchandise with the logo of them. I ended up browsing around a little since I was waiting for my friends that insisting going up to the observation level of Space Needle. The merchandise they carries is not bad as there are more than just Space Needle related items. There is also washroom facilities inside and even a chocolate booth. Definitely not a bad if you want to kill a little time while waiting for some tourists wanting to pay to go up Space Needle! read more

Located at the bottom of the Space Needle - this is where you enter the elevator to ride up! Something unique about this shop is that they sell Starbucks Pike Place Special Reserve coffee beans. The only other place you can buy it is at the first Starbucks shop itself at Pike Place market! 90% of the gifts and souvenirs are Space Needle related. There's a section of some Washington made products and Seahawks/Mariners stuff. You'll find shirts for all ages, golf balls, toys, drinkware, space needle hats which were kinda cute, space needle children's books with a matching stuffed animal, plenty of other Seattle related books, LEGO space needle, space needle salt and pepper shakers, space needle shaped candy, jewelry, even space NOODLES! It's a big, fun store to search for a Space Needle souvenir! You literally have no choice but to walk in if you have tickets to ride to the top, so might as well look around! read more

I like this gift shop because they sell lots of Space Needled themed items as well as non-space needle themed things. I was more than surprised to find they sell some food stuffs that they serve at the restaurant up top and wines which I found to be mediocre at best but still cool that it is all so inter-related. I've been here twice, and about to go on the third time as a tourist (again .... for someone new!) and I have to say they never leave me hanging with the new types of shot glasses, picture frames and hats I can buy haha ... This review is specifically for the Space Needle Mini Building Blocks pictured below. I could not find them easily online, and assume they are made exclusively for this store. What was particularly frustrating about this product is that it was only after a couple hours of assembly (that was by turns overly repetitive and mindlessly arbitrary) that the central flaw became apparent. The three outside arms of the structure are made to connect to the base at an angle, which means they want to slip out of place. If you look closely at the box, you can even see how this design flaw is an intentional aspect of the final build. I can only see how this thing would hold together and stand up properly with glue. It says it's made for ages 7+. Well right now this 39 year old man and his 7 year old nephew are very frustrated with our lost time that has yielded only disappointment. The box also says proudly designed and distributed in the USA. The company is called Impact Photographics. Keep an eye out for that name. Avoid their products at all costs. Oh, and also, the whole system of souvenir photos at the Space Needle is a disaster. The screens in the gift shop where you're supposed to be able to get your photos are another exercise in frustration. But the Space Needle itself is super cool! read more

The short: Wasn't going to pay to go up the needle when it was half closed down so just grabbed a little something for my stop. The long: Walked over to go up the space needle and boy am I glad I didn't get my tickets ahead of time since half of the observation deck was closed for a private event. That being said since I was here I at least wanted to grab a little something since I actually took the time to get here. I wandered into the gift store and checked out all the stuff they had to offer. The place is crammed full of Christmas ornaments, coffee mugs, magnets, posters, tshirts, and just about anything you can think to stamp a picture of the space needle on. There were plenty of registers peppered throughout the shop so that you could get in and out with minimal wait. It's a nice little gift shop to grab a little something to take home from your trip to the Space Needle. What works: Facilities and plenty of knickknacks to take home from your trip to the needle. What to improve: Nothing really it is your typical gift shop at a tourist destination. read more

This review is about Maria, a cashier at SpaceBase Gift shop. I did not plan to go here, but when I came down from the space needle, elevator dropped us off at the gift shop. Since I was visiting Seattle, I decided to look around a bit. I found a cute shot glass that was $4.99 and decided to buy it. I walked up to the cashier, her name was MARIA, she was helping one customer in front of me. It was really obvious that I was waiting, but MARIA continued talking to the customer in front of me for at least good 5 minutes. After the customer paid for what she bought, MARIA continue to ask where she (customer in front of me) is from, why she's in town, if she is enjoying Seattle. Then they went on and on about the super bowl game. It was really obvious they MARIA was ignoring me. After all that chitchat, it was finally my turn. NO greeting what so ever to me, MARIA quickly scanned the shot glass, told me the price, took my credit card, gave me a receipt, and she walked away from the cashier desk, and started to chat with this other employee. WOW. All she said to me during the transaction was "5.78" (whatever the price of that shot glass). Really? Most of the places that I've been to, even if I didn't wait for long time, cashiers usually said "Thanks for waiting". But that was too much expectation from MARIA i guess. I wouldn't feel like this if she at least said "Hi" or "Hello". Or maybe if she did not leave so quickly after helping me? Actually, I wouldn't even mind Maria NOT greeting me, if she was like that to person in front of me. But her attitude was completely different from how she treated the person in front of me. After all that talking with the other customer, maybe she got suddenly tired? Maybe she was being a racist??? I don't think I was ever treated this terrible. read more

Came here on Friday evening that was just after thanksgiving. Whole experience was ruined by a customer rep called Daniel (from LA). We got there at 5 mins to closing time and I asked a rep for fridge magnets. He pointed me to the other end of the store. I went there and found a rep called Daniel blocking the way. I asked him if this section had magnets, he said no, they were on the opposite side. I told him a rep had pointed me in his direction earlier. That rep waves to Daniel and Daniel says yea we have magnets here. So i get to see magnets with 4 mins remaining. I know i was late and i know i couldnt linger around. But this guy Daniel kept reminding me, "You have 4 mins left", "You have 3 mins left" "Hurry up" "Now two mins left" "We are closing soon". I cant even describe the rage building up in me. This guy works in service industry. He has to be polite, after all my ticket and other tourists' tickets pay his salary. He was acting as if I was a beggar asking for a fridge magnet. I went upto him and told him he was being extremely rude. He says "well we are closing soon". Then I asked him to call his manager. And while I was arguing with Daniel, another customer comes and asks him for fridge magnets. Daniel points them out but is polite with this guy. Daniel tells the customer "just make it quick we are closing". I told the manager I have been to the Eiffel tower in Paris and the staff over there was more courteous than this rude treatment i was receiving at home. The manager said it was because they were undergoing some construction and had to close on time. I told him I completely understood that fact, but this did not mean his employee could be rude and belligerent with me. Now i know i was late and one/two reminders would have been fine. This Daniel acted like i was stealing silver from his Grandad's collection. Unapologetic till the end. Left a sour taste in my mouth. Would never recommend shopping there, at least not physically. Order stuff from their website otherwise be prepared for some Daniel time and I dont think you will like it. read more

I skipped the ride to the top of the Space Needle in favor of the consumerism at the bottom of the Space Needle. The Wheedle (see the Stephen Cosgrove classic, "Wheedle On The Needle!") lives atop the Space Needle after all. I didn't want to disturb him (Or, prove to my adult self that he doesn't exist after all.). I digress. I bought a bag full of Seattle Chocolates, Space Needle Coffee and a bottle of Kiona Zinfandel at Space Base. Space Base will ship your gifts anywhere. Unfortunately, they will not ship wine. The Spacebase is your typical tourist shop that is overly cluttered with...well gifts. If you are going up to the observatory then there is no escaping this tourist trap. The elevator back down leads straight into the shop - sort of like all the rides at Disney Land/World. Either way, other than the lame bottle cap magnets the store offers some unique items. I mean where else can one buy a T-shirt that says "Seattle" on it? haha.. read more

Located at the bottom of the Space Needle hence the name "SpaceBase" gift shop. Basically a one-stop shop for all your Seattle souvenirs including sports apparel (Sounders FC and Seahawks). Don't expect to get a deal here but souvenirs are souvenirs and it's one of the most overpriced things in general. The shop is in a circle and one can only check out in certain areas. Inside there is also a fudge stand and a photo stand for those who went to the top. The public restrooms were also clean. read more

Grossly overpriced as you would imagine it would be. However they do have anything you can imagine with the Space needle on it so you can leave with pretty much anything branded with the icon. However do not come all the way to the space needle and not go up top you would be doing yourself a horrid disservice. read more
