Claimed to have the best burgers in town but I beg to differ. They were good but not outstanding. I thought the price was a bit much for a third pound burger that didn't come with fries. The service was really good and friendly. Ambiance is what was expected for a bowling alley. Beer prices were pretty reasonable and a good selection. read more

We've only lived in Winnemucca a week, and we can already tell this is going to be one of our favorite spots to bring friends and family when they come to visit us. Our first day in town, while unloading the truck, I kept asking everyone "where can I get a good burger?" And I kept getting the same answer. "You gotta go to Spare Time!" This bowling alley features 12 lanes, which seems to be the perfect size for a town of this size. Inside, you'll walk in and see a bar with a few slot machines to your left, and the 12 lanes for bowling to your right. Straight ahead you'll walk up to the counter where you can pay for your lane and shoe rentals. Just behind that counter, is where you can order and pay for food. We went on a Friday, cosmic bowling night. Pricing was $10 per person for 2 hours of bowling. Shoe rentals are $2.50. I was surprised to see that they had my size (14) readily available. We arrived at 6:50 and were in our own lane by 7:04 with a party of 4. Shortly after 8 PM, we got an announcement for "last call" at the kitchen. I went and placed my order a double cheeseburger combo, and a pretzel. I don't remember exactly, but I think my total was around $22. I also don't have a photo of the menu (sorry) but will get one next time. The burger was truly fantastic. Took about 6 minutes to come out. I do wish it had more veggies, maybe another slice of tomato and some more lettuce. The meat, however, was seasoned well and the Pattie's appeared to be hand formed or at least freshly pressed. I will definitely be coming back for more burgers! Here's the good and the bad about the bowling aspect; GOOD: -The lights (at least on cosmic night) really set the mood here. Very upbeat and active atmosphere. -There are plenty of balls to choose from, and the area where balls are stored are labeled and organized by ball size. -They were very accommodating when we told them we had a larger party (8) and were able to get us 2 lanes. BAD: -Seating for the bowling area. We had a handicapped person in our party, and she had a little bit of a tough time getting down the steps into the bowling area (she was just observing). Once down into the area, the only 2 options for sitting were the round tables with high barstool type seats, or these very low 2 seater benches that were positioned in a way that when you sit, your head hits the counter and you can't sit all the way back. -Music (this one didn't bother me at all, but some people might not care for it). The music played on cosmic bowling night was not censored. It didn't bother me in the slightest but some people with children might find an issue with it (I know mine would haha) And that is pretty much it! We can't wait to be back and bowl regular bowling as well as try more of the menu. read more

I've heard a lot of hype from locals about how good this place is. I am terribly disappointed. Not only did they get my order wrong, probably because the music was too loud, but the fries were saltier than McDonald's. The chicken burger was bland, and their nacho cheese sauce is apparently a cold cup of Tostinos brand that contains " water, vegetable oil, maltodextrin, and modified food starch" as the first 4 ingredients...none of that is cheese. By the way, the music still wasn't loud enough to drown out the horrible high pitched beeping. read more

My 2nd time here in 2 weeks & i can confidently say this bowling alley has great tasting food. Last time I got the double mushroom & onion burger w a side salad. The side salad was fresh and good portion size. Burger was grilled just right, the onions and mushroom sautéed perfectly really took the burger to another level! This time i got the philly cheesesteak w mozzarella sticks. The steak cuts were juicy and flavorful w every bite. Mozzarella sticks were hot and cheese was flowing. All in all can say it exceeded my expectations for bowling alley food. Props! read more

We always stop at Winners Inn when passing through Winnemucca. This trip they were closed Mon Tue. Tried the Tap House. They no longer serve food but recommended the bowling alley. Wow. Great service and one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. My daughter had cheese fries. Fantastic. Bathrooms were clean and nicely designed. I look forward to going back to SPARE TIME next time we pass through Winnemucca. read more

We loved going here for lunch the food was some of the best in town, we went a couple of days ago there were 2 other tables that came in after us, we waited for 40 minutes for burgers and fries and milkshakes, the burgers now taste like frozen and dry and card board like, I don't know what's changed but the whole atmosphere is different... totally bummed!!! read more

We have one bowling alley in town, and the best part is, it's really a nice and clean (!!) bowling alley and not even because it is the only one in town, or for a small town for that matter. I grew up in Winnemucca and I was on a youth team league from 3rd to 6th grade, back then, the snack bar consisted of sodas, fried goods like cheese sticks and fries, candy bars and jerky basically. My mom would reward my strikes and spares with jerky LOL. (The true way to my heart) In fact, the jerky was so good we ended up buying our own jars for home. Over the years they've changed wall paper and added games, updated the pool tables, changed around their trophy and engraving area and also the food counter. Adding more and more things. Now there is quite the menu including pizza, wings, hamburgers, steak sandwiches and fish and chips. And all of it is pretty darn good. If you've been around Winnemucca long enough you'll also know the reputation of bowling alley fries, and I'm pleased to find out they are still the same! As far as bowling, I recently came and they have the same computer systems as in Reno with nice oiled and level lanes. They do work hard on keeping this place up. I believe they have cosmic bowling on Fridays or Saturdays as well as $1 games for the summer. They have 9-pin no tap nights and tons of leagues. They are also super super big on helping the community, often holding fundraisers and donating proceeds. I know the owners, but mostly because my parents do, in a small town, you kind of know almost everyone, especially long time residents, overall, you don't feel bad coming in and spending money on food or entertainment. Ps: Recently updated their conference area to a frozen yogurt place too. Pps: The bar is known for STRONG drinks, just beware when ordering mixed drinks LOL. read more

I love eating at the bowling alley. We probably eat there a couple times a month. I love the hot wings and alot of times we just get the bucket with 30 wings. I have probably tried almost all of the food on the menu and can say I like just about all of it. I agree with another review and im disappointed that they got rid the buzztime trivia. Update: The bar in the bowling alley is nice. The drinks served are always tasty and the have some good mixed drinks that all always strong on the alcohol. They have updated much of the inside. The lanes are very nice. The have new computerized screens at each lane where you can change the preface of the games, chat with other lanes, add pictures, and play different types of bowling games. I haven't been to other bowling alleys out of town in awhile so this may be standard now, but it is nice to me. The majority of the staff is friendly and the food is always good. Much better if you eat there but we take to-go and it is still good. They have also added Pognip frozen yogurt the the back of the building. read more

Important: If you can get 8 people to play trivia, then the winner of each trivia round is entitled to a free drink. Incentives add value. I've had exemplary bowling experiences here and I'm not a big bowler. The lanes and equipment are well maintained and well used as Winnemucca has a thriving Bowling League. The bar offers an astute selection of tap beer (2 Below, Shock Top, Blue Moon, Fat Tire Amber Ale, XX Amber, Pyramid's Haywire Hefeweizen among others). Those offered change from time to time, with one or two intelligent brews rotated in for those lagging a bit in sales, which I found to be refreshing each time. The service has always been friendly. There is only one bartender so when the bar is busy and the bowling folks are also thirsty, you may discover that patience is a virtue. I appreciate the sign above the bar doors leading to the lanes that reads, "Bowl like a Champion today." Bar amenities include four (4) Flat Screen TV's for sports entertainment and trivia display, Internet-Jukebox, high-end shuffleboard, and slots.* The burgers and fries have the reputation as the best available in Winnemucca. After careful consideration and comprehensive sampling, I concur with these findings. I recommend the Chorizo Burger. The pizza here is simple and tasty. *If you are playing the slots, beer is complementary. It's important to note that the slots are not a big draw here, but they're there if you feel the urge. read more

For the last couple of times that we've been here, the food is absolutely horrible. The chicken teriyaki salad that I get is mostly the white part of the salad. It's gross and I can't eat it. There's never enough chicken, tomatoes and cheese (even when I've asked for extra). The lettuce is soggy and brown in some spots. Tonight while there, it was the same. My husband ordered a small pizza and the crust was burnt. The fries that my youngest daughter got was soggy. My oldest daughter got a grilled chicken breast sandwich and when cutting it in half, we found that it was very pink and not even hardly cooked. The sodas are either very watered down or way too much syrup. My family and I won't be returning for a long time. read more

You'd never expect to get the perfect burger from a bowling alley - at least the best one in Winnemucca. It's a great substitute for in-n-out when we can't make it in to Reno.
