Shameful excuse for a Caesar salad. I'm not even sure how this was brought to the table; a bowl of field greens with some weird mustard-like dressing on the side. No romaine, no caesar dressing, no cheese, no croutons. When my husband sent it back the server was confused and came back with it in her hand 2 minutes later to ask us what dressing we wanted instead lol. None, there are no ingredients. Yikes. Silver Peak has a very varied menu with Seafood, American food, Mexican food: Soups, salads, sandwiches, steak, pastas, seafood dishes and various Mexican favorites. There were two of us, and we ordered tacos and chicken quesadillas to share. The tacos were excellent. Two soft tacos on corn tortillas, loaded with chicken, tomatoes, lettuce, and a cilantro crema. It came with a small bowl of guacamole and a surprisingly large salad tossed in a vinaigrette. Everything was super fresh and tasty. The chicken quesadilla was also good. Quite large and it also had cilantro crema and guacamole. Unfortunately there was a large chicken bone in it too, and a small piece of bone in a taco. There seemed to be only two waiters, but they were racing around and the service was still excellent. It's a casual place with a large bar area, and sports on several tv's. I definitely recommend this place, but have to deduct a star for chicken bones. read more

My family and I visited friends in the area and they took us to this restaurant. The ambiance was pleasant, with dark walls, dim lighting, and diner-style seating booths. However, the temperature inside was quite chilly. The pricing seemed a bit high (average around $16-$22/plate) for the quality of the food. My wife ordered the lamb burger, which she described as being good. My son enjoyed the regular burger, cooked medium well. I opted for the carne asada fries, which were cooked well and served with crispy steak fries. Unfortunately, they lacked a lot of flavor. I even requested their homemade habanero sauce, which helped slightly but wasn't particularly spicy. Despite these issues, our server was very kind and attentive. We go to the Silver Peak every time we're passing through Winnemucca. The food is so tasty and fresh! They have such a great menu selection that I find it hard to make a decision on what to order. This time we ordered the shrimp fajitas and Philly cheesesteak with fries. The fries are the best! The portions are generous. Everything was so delicious! The service was good, the atmosphere was casual and relaxing, and the place is nice and clean. Definitely give them a try! read more

If you are a Vegetarian, AVOID. I ordered off the Vegetarian section of the menu and my food was served with refried beans which had lard in them. I kindly asked the server to give me whole beans and she came back with my food, no beans but a bunch of Mexican rice and I asked if the rice was vegetarian (it's often made with chicken stock) and she said "I believe so." WTF. It is or it isn't! I ate my veggie quesadilla and left the rice. As a restaurant I highly recommend you are transparent with the ingredients in your food. read more

Tonight I took my husband out for Father's Day and we dined in. I got the steak and fries, and he got the ribeye and shrimp special. We also ordered the poutine for an appetizer and our kids' food. My steak was delicious, even though what they called a bernaise sauce seemed more like a pat of butter on top of the steak, still tasty. A wonderful flavor on the vegetable as well. The poutine was good, but not traditional with a thick gravy and the fried cheesecurds were an interesting choice. We still devoured it with a little ketchup. His steak was cooked more than he liked, he sent it back and it was fixes, but still not the medium rare he hoped for. He seemed a bit disappointed, but still ate the steak, along with my fries which were like a beer battered fry. They were crispy and good. The Service was good. We were confused if it was seat yourself or wait to be seated and the bartender let us know we could seat ourselves. The waiter was a lovely gentleman. He was nice and patient and we were deciding what to order and he checked back often. The restaurant is a decent size with a bar on one side and outdoor seating available. The establishment looked clean upon arriving. The most disappointing part was the bill. I swore the special was on the board for $21, but I must have misread it as the steak and shrimp were $31 and I'm not sure if that was a value with the thin steak and 4 shrimp. Overall, it was acceptable and I would come back in the future when looking for something a little different in town. For 3 adult meals, a kids meal, an appetizer and a coke the bill was a little over $100. Pretty standard pricing in this town. read more

Interesting little place. It used to be "Toasted Tavern ", but has apparently changed ownership. My honey and I were traveling from California to home and spent the night in Winnemucca. We were looking for a place for a good beer and a light meal. We sat at the bar (we were the only ones here) and about 5 minutes after we sat down the bar tender came over and asked what we would like to drink. I asked him what the ABV was on their double IPA was. He said he had no idea. Then my honey asked him what kind of beer their Cali squeeze blood orange was. Again, he had no idea. (It was a Hefeweizen, I googled it) He did bring us tasters of each. I ordered the Firestone Mind Haze Double IPA. My husband ordered a Sierra Nevada Hazy Little Thing IPA. The bartender asked if we'd like to order food. We ordered an appetizer, Sambal glazed chicken skewers with cucumber salad to share. When he brought it out, we had to ask for napkins and flatware. (To eat the cucumber salad). He brought us one set of flatware so I went to a table and got another set as he had disappeared. The food was good, no complaints, but my honey wanted a second beer and the bartender was no where to be found. Eventually, a young lady came and asked if we needed anything else. I'm not sure how this place stays in business. I've tried it three times with friends. All three times, food was pretty much frozen mass produced stuff that they popped into fryer, or simple items (burgers) showed up without what was listed in menu descriptions. Wait staff simply said that kitchen did their best with ingredients they had. Not even an attempt at making things right. Found the place very subpar. Nothing fresh or even well prepared. Found staff kinda on the rude or at least dismissive side. If you want this kind of food in the mucc, there are far better options. read more

When we first arrived we were greeted by a kind young gal (assuming she was under 21) who helped us decide what we should get and gave us her input. She was great! The other young gal (with a bow in her hair) looked responsible for pouring alcoholic beverages and waiting her tables. We ordered two beers, the Santa Fe chicken sandwich and the pesto tortellini. The food was decent, ranch was bland. However, we never received our beers after asking for them twice. We ate our entire meal and our sweet serve came back, visibly frustrated that we'd never received our beers after asking for them. It was clear the girl with the bow in her hair prioritized her tables and sections (we saw her tables get beer) but never getting to ours. It was offered to us AFTER we finished our meal. i just got back from there, and I ordered the impossible burger and when my order came to the table she asked who ordered the impossible burger so I said me and then I was given a different burger my table ordered. I didn't realize it until I bit down because it was covered in toppings. we then let the manager know only to be given an attitude and sarcastic comment of "do you want me to get on my knees and beg for forgiveness". then we had to bring up that I'm not going to pay for it and she responded "well, obviously". so unfortunately it will be my first and last time going there read more

I got into town tonight looking for a hotel (out of dozens) and a restaurant near it. My first hotel choice was $30 more than what it said when I first looked at it... oh, yesterday. So forget it. But it had a restaurant in front and Yelp seemed to like it when I map searched, so I went to that restaurant. (Sid's.) It's a diner. I was just at a diner. There was nothing appealing to me on the menu. I questioned my sanity and looked at Yelp again, closer to downtown where the actual hotel I ended up at was. And there came Silver Peak to the rescue. I went to the hotel, got my key, and walked right on over, and... well... I've heard Silver Peak is brand new, replacing/reopening the place that was here before. Smart move. This place is downright fabulous and far from expensive despite the upscale menu. Really, for what you can get here, a lot of it is downright worthwhile. Take the beer I tried. GB Outlaw stout, based locally (in Sparks), fantastic. $6 for the pint. Restaurant prices often have that a couple more for being a craft beer like that. Take the poutine. No, really, every single visitor here needs to order poutine for themselves. I love poutine and I love breaded cheese curds, and here they are together in harmony. The cheese curds were perfectly breaded, and there was a perfect balance of all ingredients. Fry, cheese, meat in every bite to the very end, with enough sauce for it. Can't ask for more outside of Quebec. I was so happy I decided to have more vegetables. Onion rings. I guessed right - based on the cheese curds - that these also have the right amount of breading, maybe slightly heavy but not overweighted like many places. They don't come with anything, but I asked and they were willing to give a cup of ranch to dip it in. I asked again and... I won't give anything away, but the salsa here is delicious. They say it's not spicy, but it does have a little hint of spice to it. The cup is JUST the right size for dipping onion rings - last ring took the last bit of sauce. It is amazing how they get that just right with the order. Couple all of these great things with happy friendly service with a smile, fun chats - even the neighbors let me photo their food! - and there is not a question in my mind that this is the best restaurant in town. Maybe everywhere east of Reno area. Maybe the entire state of Nevada. Worth the drive to eat here. read more

Very good!!! It was slow when we came in so I worried it wouldn't be great. The eggs on my dish were perfectly cooked to order and my kids loved the breakfast burrito, the 5 cheese grilled cheese, and some scambled eggs. Got the bill and everything was a dollar to $2 more than the menu said. Nothing listed on the menu about paying cash is cheaper. I appreciate businesses taking cash and not going cashless but you should be notified that your meal will cost more if you pay with a card. Didn't say it on the menu and the server didn't mention a word. Furthermore we were the only customers on a Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m. . This is a great place to visit. It has a nice atmosphere , welcoming staff. The menu is broad and has something for everyone. They also have a great beer and cocktail menu. We ordered ENCHILADAS SUIZAS and LOCO BURRITO ASADO because they sounded unique and oh wow! It was so good! We immediately dug in before taking picts, and ate every single bite! If you are going to have the word "bar" in your name, maybe make sure you have employees who actually know how to bartend. We sat at the bar and the young girl poured us two draft beers. Mine was about 1/2 head and my husband's was about 1/3 head. When he mentioned it to her she said, "oh yeah, two of our taps are really foamy." Hubby says, "are you going to pour me a full pint?" She sighed and took his glass back to the tap. It was clear she had no idea how to pour a draught beer. Then we got transferred to another male server. We asked for another beer and a vodka and soda. He used a different beer glass that was clearly smaller than the previous mugs. Then my drink came with about 4 cubes of ice in it. I literally could not taste any vodka and the soda water was flat. He walked away and didn't come back for us to question it. Then a different server came over and started to make drinks for other guests. Husband asked if they ran out of beer mugs since he got a different glass. She just said "I don't know" and shrugged her shoulders and continued to make her drinks. Then the male server comes back and we question him about our drinks. This condescending little twat immediately got attitude. Told us that a standard pour in a mixed drink is 1oz (it's not, it's 1.5 oz). He argued that the beer glass was a full beer. Then he grabbed a champagne glass and a minuscule wine glass and began to make a comparison with them. WTF?! When my husband asked him to pour something into the beer glass he had and compare it by pouring it into the beer mug he said "Uh I'm not going to do that." Then he very quickly removed the full sized mugs from the end of the bar and went to the kitchen. He came back with our to go food and continued to display his unprofessional attitude. The food was just mediocre but edible. Not a lot of flavor. This place needs to train their staff on customer service and how to interact with tact.
