My frustration comes from the ladies at the desk services, I called on 05/20/24 around 6:30 pm for a haircut. The person who took my appointment and my card information was having a hard time with the system but informed me the app was set for sat 05/25/24 at 9am! Now I go in there and no app under my name how is it no one knows??! I'm frustrated at this point because now someone has my card information and only thing they could say was that's understandable. Dani is a miracle worker!!! I had my hair absolutely botched at Steller Hair in NE Minneapolis a few weeks ago and I was really desperate to find someone who could correct a horribly bleached & toned balayage by the end of the week... I found Dani on Instagram and saw that she had a lot of experience fixing other people's messes with a reverse balayage technique. I took a leap of faith and decided to ask for her help. I was able to get in to her 3 days after my botch-job and she created a blend of colors that was IDENTICAL to my natural root color, hand painted it over the bleach, and blended it through my old highlights... Beware, this salon lists very reasonable prices but the add on charges are outrageous. I went in for a root color touch up, a few highlights and a haircut. I saw a level 1 stylist. The base for the highlights and cut was $144.00. No problem there. However in addition I was charged $28 for gloss (which did nothing) and a 2nd color was $45.00! I paid $217.00 without a tip. The stylist was very nice, but the cut and color were average at best. I know this salon prices by the level of stylist. But these add-ons bring their pricing up way too much. My regular stylist is on maternity leave and she never charges like this. And she's very experienced and from a downtown New York salon. read more

Terrible customer service. disrespectful cancellation policy. They will charge $70 from your card without any notice or call if you miss an appointment. Otherwise they will call you 10 times if need anything from you but keeping salience while charging you card. Absolutely no respect to customer. Greedy people. strange business management. All our family and 2 our friends will not come to this place any more. They left 6 customers go humiliated. $200 for my hair coloration I gonna spend in other salon. I love this salon. This is the place to go if you want to feel pampered and beautiful. My hair has never looked or felt better. I use the products suggested by Heather and I'll never go back to anything else. Also my haircut always turns out great. I think it is worth it to spend a little more to get great results and service. You can also ask for a level 1 stylist and spend a little less. I'm sure they will also provide a great haircut since Spark has very high quality standards. read more

Brooke is hands down one of the best hairstylists I've been to. She actually cares about you as a person and takes the time to talk over every little detail about the cut you're wanting. I dyed my naturally blonde hair black and have been trying to transition back to a natural blonde for the last year. I had a couple recent hair colors and cuts that I was less than happy with. After doing my research, I booked an appointment with Heather. I went in feeling very nervous because my hair was pretty much orange/yellow and I wasn't sure how anyone could fix it. Heather really listened to my hair concerns and goals, reviewed my hair history with me, and was easy to talk to. She came up with a plan for a color correction and cut and communicated very clearly with me about the entire process. I left with shorter blonde locks that I LOVE. My hair looks so much more natural. I couldn't be any happier with the experience. The salon was beautiful, clean, and every person who I spoke to was friendly and kind. I even got a great hand massage from a very sweet trainee while my hair was processing. And Heather gave me an amazing head massage during my rinse!! I have only gone a handful of times but have been so happy every time. They always do what they can to help get what you want and explain to you what they think will get you there. They are willing to do things they wouldn't have to for example I wanted to donate my hair and they don't do that but my stylist was happy to section my hair off and cut it like needed to donate and sent me home with it in a bag so I could send it in. I highly recommend trying to get Chloe I've gone to her every time I've been there and always left happy! read more

Had to reschedule my appointment 2 different times cause the stylist of mine caught COVID twice shocker it's almost if vaccines work was never offered a discount or anything not even a simple sorry then this morning I ended up in the hospital cause of a medical emergency from my part ofc I'm not gonna have time to call and reschedule when I can hardly speak and I see an email was sent to my phone at 2:37 I finally had time to check it like around 6:45 and they charged me 52.31 on my card cause a no call no show the most dumb thing I've experienced ofc money is money however the thing that made me mad was that ofc they complain about me wasting your time and money however what about those two reschedules that I had to do? 1st visit to Spark Salon and I saw Ciara. I had color, highlights and a cut and it's the first time where I had a stylist who really listened. She explained what she thought I needed done to get the end results that I was looking for. My hair turned out better then ever! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I went here to get my hair done after quarantine and my hair was not what I wanted. My hair was blotchy and not even. My blonde turned to yellow and the colors were not even. Decided to try a new salon and boy was that a mistake... Got my hair colored - which turned out fine... Also got it cut, which was a disaster. The right and left sides were two inches off!! The stylist curled my hair so I didn't notice while at the salon... They charged me $130 for a cut and color (one of the highest I've paid - willow salon, which was awarded "best of" in MG charges me around $100 for cut/color). What they didn't tell me was the stylist I had booked with was a "new" stylist... Like any customer, I called salon and never got a call back... Then I emailed the company and still never got a response... Finally I looked up the owner on facebook (Heather). I told her the situation and she told me that the stylist I had was newer... She also told me that I could come back in for a correction haircut (mind you, this was after weeks and weeks of no responses, so I had already had my hair corrected; not to mention the fact that I DID NOT want to go back as they had screwed up my hair the first time). I told her I had already corrected my hair and asked her if she would just refund my money (for the haircut ONLY) and she said absolutely not. She continued to argue with me... Blah blah blah... The owner was less than accommodating (especially for being a brand new salon) and she definitely made my experience a terrible one. Will NOT be going back. read more

I found Spark on Yelp and I'm so glad I chose it. My friend and I had done terrible box dyes and needed fixes so we went in and made appointments for the next day. Heather, the owner worked with me to figure out what would be best for what I had done for the color and guided me in my cut. Everyone was lovely from the receptionist to Heather and the student she was teaching. She walked me through the steps and asked me when she wanted to make a change to the cut. I would recommend this salon to anyone. They are all dedicated professionals who did an amazing job. I went in for a patch up and came out looking better than I ever could have hoped. I would recommend going here over any other salon in Minneapolis. The stylists know exactly what they are doing and have always made my hair exactly what I envision. When I box died my hair awhile back I had a HORRIBLE outcome where my hair only picked up red....like fire engine red. I spent a year trying to fix it at numerous salons and countless treatments. Decided to treat myself to an blowout/style for mothers day weekend and was excited to try Spark. Unfortunately had a frustrating experience. Comments from the stylist made me feel like an inconvenience - "not going to go to the trouble of round brush till the end since we're just going to curl it anyway" Style felt stiff and since it was too much of a bother to do a proper blowout she didn't get all of the natural wave out of the top layer - looked frizzy and didn't lay smoothly. Ended up using a straightener when I got home to smooth out what I could without destroying the curls. read more

I'm not sure how i missed this gem all this time. Not only was my stylist, Emilii, on point with her skills, she's a wonderful conversationalist. I enjoyed my time in her chair. A good salon, which you will notice from my other yelp reviews, is something I've been searching for since i moved 14 years ago. When i looked around the shop, i noticed stylists happily interacting with their clients, customers happily interacting with each other and the stylists who were not helping customers were supporting the ones that were and chatting with each other. All in all, it was a great experience. Yes, but how did my hair turn out? It's been a week since I had it cut. I STILL love it! Got my hair colored few months back and was very disappointed with the outcome. Went in to get the balayage hair style and didn't turn out anything like it. After washing my hair, the stylist tried combing through my hair with a comb, I have very long hair and all he kept doing was ripping my hair out. I got feed up with it and said do you not have another kind of brush to use instead of ripping/damaging my hair. He finally found a different one, but I couldn't believe he didn't think anything of it when I myself would never brush and keep ripping/damaging my hair out like he did. Most the time when you go to a salon they treat your hair better than you would. I wouldn't recommend this place as I didn't feel they were confident in what they were doing, and the pricing is no more than if you went to a 4 or 5 star hair salon. On top of that after getting home I had hair color all over inside the top of my ear that was not washed off or even noticed. read more
