I honestly don't understand why this place is sitting at 3.5 stars, because if you know, you know. I've been coming here for years, and every single visit--whether it's just me or I bring guests--the service has been consistently good. No rush, no attitude, just quality. Yes, prices have gone up a bit (where haven't they?), but you absolutely get what you pay for. They actually take their time, and when you're done, your hands and feet feel brand new. That alone keeps me coming back. You can make an appointment, but walk-ins are welcome, which makes it perfect for those "I need this today" moments. The vibe is super laid back, and honestly one of my favorite parts is that I always end up chatting and meeting new people while I'm there. It feels more like a little community than just a service spot. Pro tip: Come on a Sunday or mid-week if you want smooth in-and-out service without the wait. We (bestie & I) were using the most of our day off. She dropped off her motorcycle to get serviced and I had the truck. After breakfast- it was either watch a movie (she'd take a nap) or let's get our nails done. We had breakfast a few blocks away from Sparkle and there is a nail salon at the shopping center where we ate. When we walked into that salon- we told staff we would like an acrylics (for bestie) and a gel pedi (for me). We couldn't really hear what the guy said at that salon- but- it sounded like he said they didn't have someone to do acrylics. We called Sparkle Pro and asked if they did walk ins (Yes!) and were asked what services we needed. We were told to, Come on Down! We were seated quickly. The salon isn't the bougiest of them. So, if you're not here for interior aesthetics- you're good. Plenty of spa chairs (and it looked like my remote for the chair was busted). Which it wasn't- thank goodness! Bc i really look forward to the kneading function! I typically like a gel mani & pedi serviced simultaneously. But, really needed the gel pedi more than anything. Especially with spring- I need a light, cute color. Two gel company palettes to choose from. As my feet were barely soaking- the pedi tech was prepping for the cuticle removal. I thought she was going to ignore trimming my toe nails. I typically trim them a few days prior to a nail salon visit. I'm a stickler for shorter toe nails due to wearing my work shoes and walking 11 miles/ daily. So, I inquired the tech of she was going to trim them. And a simple trim, she did. :/ This is when she handed me a pedi menu. I didn't need all the bells and whistles- since I didn't want to be the hold up- if we had to pick up bestie's motorcycle for her 2 hour ride home. I picked the basic gel pedicure service- $38. When the tech noticed one of my big toes have an ingrown nail, she handled it swiftly and carefully. And this is such a game changer, for me. And I'm sure any client. I've been to a few salons and the pedi tech doesn't attempt to remove it. And although I don't inquire about it- I don't tip as much. This tech did the same on my other foot. She even went above and beyond to give my legs a lengthy massage. More of my shins- :/ than calves... but, noted in my memory bank. We didn't really chat. Which I don't mind. Did a walk in on an early Sunday afternoon, they had someone for me immediately. I just got a mani/pedi with regular nail polish, the basics. Total came out to $50 before tip ($25 basic mani/$25 basic pedi). Even though I just kept it simple, I feel like they still pampered me and took their time with their work. Hadn't got my nails done in a while, so my cuticles needed some love and they look and feel so much better now. Even the basic pedicure was great; massage chair, quick exfoliation/massage, and they used a hot stone as well. So nice. The salon itself is a little outdated, but they are efficient and attentive. All good until it's not! I went to Sparkle Pro for years, I can't imagine how much $$ I've spent there. I took a break from nails for over a year then I went back to SP. I know everyone there of course, except for a few newbies. I found that Daniel did a good job so I started going regularly, making appointments with him. So, I would make an appointment and get there on time always and Lisa would say it's going to be 10 min. Listen, I don't mind waiting 10 min., but it was never 10 min. After 15 min. Lisa could see I was frustrated and would say, "come sit down I do your nails". I did not want Lisa to do my nails, she rushes through and I was not happy! My cuticles were not cut good and many times I never got the massage I paid for included with a gel-mani. Also, Lisa's is always distracted, answering calls and booking appointments or on a personal call during my service. She is pushy and kind of does what she wants and always expects a tip. It seems the salon has turned into a sweat shop. Walk-ins would be told yes no matter how many clients were there or had appointments. Lisa would say "we do now", meaning wait for 30 minutes, many would eventually just leave upset, even though Lisa would try to put them at a station they were fed up. Here are my recommendations to SP and Lisa- if your client has an appointment with a certain tech, honor it. Stop allowing walk-in's to get squeezed in and impeding on regular loyal clients that have appointments. Slow the heck down!! I go to the salon to get pampered and spend a lot of $$ I don't like feeling rushed and pushed around. Lisa- pay attention to what the heck you are doing your quality has been horrible. Hire a part-time receptionist to answer calls, book appointments and greet walk-ins. Also, honor your client's request and let them have the tech they requested, don't squeeze people in knowing there is an appointment on the books!!! Anyway I got fed up with the attitude, quality, lack of attention to detail and constant waiting. I found a very nice salon in Santee and they treat me kindly and are not rushing through my services. Although they are more expensive I don't mind paying extra for great service. Also, they don't talk about you right in front of your face in their language- all the techs at SP know English stop gossiping about your clients in your native tongue, I don't all the words but I get it, trust me. So disrespectful!! Bottom line is I gave a 2 star because there are a few very sweet techs there but I feel sorry for them SP works the crap out of them- very long days and I assume they make more on tips than their regular pay!! Walked in last minute and I was able to get pedicure right away. Jason did my pedicure and he did a really good job. I enjoyed the hot rock massage that came with the pedicure. I made an appointment for a second time and again my pedicure done by Jason and again, really good job. I will be back because I really like how my pedicure was done. This nail place is one of my favorites. They always do a great job. And go above and beyond what a could possibly want every time. They are pretty busy, so I always call ahead to make an appointment and am never there longer than an hour ( great service). They do designs and have a wonderful selection of colors. Lisa is amazing when it comes to designs and gets it perfect every time. Always last at least 3-4 weeks. Lets start from the beginning, I got a pedicure and she didn't even get the color right, I was trying to get my nails done, before she even put on the tips I said I wanted them almond shaped and longer, the lady did ask me what size I wanted but whatever I could've said wouldn't have mattered because she did what she wanted with the length. I asked her to change them and she acted like I killed her kids or something the look she gave me... then like 3 of the workers came up to me trying to convince me that they were nice and that it'll be extra. Extra???? are you serious you haven't even done anything yet what do you mean extra. after that the whole place were so mean to me. it was like i bombed their place or something like wtf? horrible customer service, horrible job, horrible everything. absolutely do not come here they're genuinely so terrible. read more

I found this saloon to be clean, air conditioned and the staff was friendly. They offer a large variety of nail polish colors as well as gel colors. I made an appt for a nail fill with gel color as well as a pedicure with gel and was very happy how they turned out and I didn't have to wait. This honestly used to be my favorite nail salon. Unfortunately over the past 2 months, my acrylic nails haven't been done very well. I leave un happy everytime. My gel polish or dip powder chips pretty much immediately. This most recent visit which was Friday, I was treated rudely and told they couldn't do an ombre on my nails. They had us wait for 2 hours, yet people who walked in with no appointments got seen before us. So I ended up just choosing gray with anaccent nail. It was rushed but they were closing within the hourat this point. So I thought I'd just let it slide. Immediately in natural lighting I could see what a horrible job that was done. But they were closing up. The following morning my gel was peeling. Here we are 3 days later. My gel is off 3 nails, my acrylic has completely chipped off the side of my nail. I cant justify returning after so many times of not being happy with my acrylic manicure. Yet the other people I go with get amazing service. I always tip well. And I know they can do a good job. But for me I wont be returning anymore. read more

I got a mani and pedi done last week here because of my friend's recommendation. It's not that they don't do a good job, it's just that the experience is SO stressful. I show up and even though I made an appointment- it's still a 20 min wait. About 10 min into my manicure, Lisa gets up and starts working on another customer. She comes back to work on mine, but all the while keeps getting up to go do something here and there- talking on her phone and most of all- she was rushing through my manicure, I definitely got the feeling like she was irritated I was there. Here's the thing- I get that your busy, but don't make your customers feel that their a nuisance. It should be a pleasurable experience to go get your nails done, you shouldn't feel like your being rushed out the door! I won't be coming back, I would rather go to a place where I am not counting the minutes to leave. read more

My toes are feeling fabulous after the pedicure I just had. Since I have to wear steel-toe boots 9 hours a day, my feet are often in pain and need some attention to ingrown nails. Yikes. But their tech did such a wonderful job making sure all of them were taken care of. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5, is because many other spas offer complementary water or drinks. Worst pedicure I've had. The lady cut me because she was rushing and the massage was horrible. I complained and they promised if I came back they would care of me. I gave them a second chance and went back, the manager said she remembered and would take care of the pedicure. I got a a manicure and pedicure and when I went to pay she denied that she said that and made me pay full price. She said if I was unhappy, I did not have to come back. I have been with the woman who does my nails (Lynn) for years now. She is so good and I would follow her nearly anywhere. She recently moved to this salon and I have been to see her 3 times. First, I like this salon waaaay better than the other one she was at, and for a few reasons... One is that the salon is very clean. You can tell right when you walk in that this isn't a hole in the wall type of place. Another great thing is that it never smells bad....they figured out some way to get that chemical nail salon smell out of the air! It's a large place with lots of people working, all of which have been very very nice. They have large TV's that are always playing interesting videos you can get lost in. The bathroom is clean and well stocked too. You can just tell that they take pride in their salon which is so great. Cost is very reasonable, location is super convenient and there is so much parking...all things I love. The woman who I follow is named Lynn, she is fantastic!! She really listens to what I want and checks in with me throughout my appointment to makes sure I am happy with her work. It's a bit of a drive for me to come out to El Cajon but I am so happy with Lynn and with Sparkle Pro, it's worth the drive! If you are looking for a new salon, this is definitely a good choice. Everyone who works there seems to have a lot of regulars and really know what they are doing so I don't think you'd be disappointed either way but I can certainly vouch that Lynn is great! read more
