This place was just ok. The ice cream is made in front of you, with nitrogen, which is kinda cool but the service is very lackluster and I felt like a burden to the person making the ice cream. They barely said two words to me, never smiled or talked to me, and had earbuds in one ear so I don't know if they could really even hear me. This is not scooped ice cream, it is cream frozen with nitrogren and then toppings added. It was not cheap. I paid over 7.00 for a small dish of ice cream (with preset toppings - key lime cheesecake). The ice cream and toppings were decent but nothing to write home to mom about. I get that most minimum wage workers aren't going to be super happy but maybe pay your employees a little more to retain them and set expectations to deliver a good customer service experience. Most people don't need their arse kissed but hope for a pleasant exchange while paying for their food. Reading the reviews here, it seems like terrible service from employees is an on going issue. I'll lead with - there's plentiful ice cream flavor options, which is great! The downside is, because this is nitrogen based on how they make it, the flavors have to be mixed. That's ok - even mixed you can find some good combos. The ice cream comes out in a timely manner (assuming minimal wait from the line; we never had issues). Ice cream texture is smooth and actually really good, especially with some of the mix-ins! Decent price too. The only thing I really wonder is - how sustainable is working with nitrogen? Even with a low crowd, it seemed pretty labor intensive. Just something I had in the back of my mind coming here. The bad messed up my gfs ice cream gave her reese peanut butter cup when she asked for cookie dough and it was so busy felt too bad to ask for another. Absolutely love this place! Both the owners and the workers are so nice and welcoming. I cannot have dairy whatsoever and Sparky's offers nitrogen ice cream that is made with almond milk that you watch them make right in front of you with just about any flavour that you can ask for. It's absolutely amazing and I'm glad I can finally have a treat since I can't ever have anything.. My family loves sparky's ice cream even made with normal milk. It's great! The boba is great and you can choose what level of sweetness you want which is great. I normally hate tapioca but these were flavored and not tapioca boba which was great. Was excited to go here to end the night of my birthday. Walked in at 9:05 and they said they were closed and wouldn't serve us. When it says on their door they close at 9:30. They were still making ice cream and there was only 2 people in line, so they were just being lazy. Such a cute hidden gem in Key Largo. Found out about this place because I saw their boba tea sign and was craving some. Went inside and wow the place is so adorable. Has a mini pool table, they serve nitrogen ice cream and you can even add in CBD to it if you are 21+. Boba tea and ice cream starts at $5.99 and it is the keys so of course they do sell key lime pie! Place is family owned. They sell tshirts as well and to go cbd gummies. Went here Christmas Eve. The place was busy as hell. Everything was good but the nitrogen infused ice creams are very labor intensive and don't seem to add anything special. There was one girl working the front getting totally slammed with customers and a woman in the back who did not come out to help at all. I got nitrogen ice cream made with coconut milk because the cashier said that coconut milk was the plant based milk which produces the best texture. Otherwise, you'd get more of a slushee. I think she was right. However, the texture was still off. If you market the vegan options as maybe sorbet or sherbet, I would be more satisfied, but you cannot call this product ice cream. We came to the Key Largo to have lunch and we happened to see an ice cream place called Sparky's and wanted to try it out since it was our first time. We got there at 4pm. There were two ladies behind the counter. One lady was older and the other lady was younger. The older woman took our order for a family of four. We ordered two small Sparky's Berry treat, small cookies and cream (vanilla with Oreo since they technically don't have cookies and cream) and a coffee Oreo shake. The total came out to $32. Although this place is cute and the ice cream was tasty, I am rating this place a 4-star as the younger woman had a bit of an attitude with her colleague. She seemed annoyed at everything and saying comments like, "it's not that hard" in front of customers. Not professional. I have read other similar reviews on disgruntled employees and the owner said she would address. I hope the business owner(s) do really take the time in addressing these issues and properly training their staff as it makes the experience for any customer (new or existing) very uncomfortable. read more
