Depending on where you're coming from, it might be a bit out of the way, but if you're headed to or from the CCSC, it's absolutely worth a quick stop. The shop sits at the bottom of the hill on Decatur, just north of the 215, and shares a parking lot with a gas station and a handful of other small businesses. Inside, everything is spotless and extremely well organized. The staff are incredibly friendly - they offered me a complimentary soda or water at least three times while I was browsing - and there's even a clean public restroom if you need it. If you have no clue what your doing with your guns or optics I recommend coming here first and talking to ADRIAN SALDANA who know's the ins and outs of most weapon systems and optics better than I can tie my shoes!!! I had an issue with my optic being loose on the frame and under 5 mins he figured out I was using the wrong screws, mean while assisting another customer at the same time! During the outage, I decided to hold off on acquiring a firearm. Decided I'd put one on layaway until everything went back to normal. After hearing the Brady system was back up, I made my way to the shop and filled all the paperwork out and was told "please wait until the end of the week just in case we're backlogged." The owner is often in the store himself, and is also happy to help you select whatever it is you're seeking. The gunsmiths are fantastic- they recently helped me loosen up my Banish 30 suppressor, after the extension had become stuck, and gave me tips on when to clean it (basically: not for a long, long time....but they DO offer cleaning services, which I will use, once my suppressor needs it!). I took the Spartan Arms Handgun Course with Chance Knoblauch, and I'm going to try to take his CCW course coming this December. He gave a wealth of information, was patient, let me use his equipment for the rental, and was very welcoming of novices into the gun community. I have a list of things to get and an even bigger list of questions to ask the next time I see him. If you know nothing about guns and firing guns (like me), it helps a lot to take classes not to just learn part of the gun, technique, stance, and shooting, but the more nuanced things with guns. This was my first experience, and I was told the gun community can be a bit egoic and rude to people who are not experienced/military, but I still encourage people, especially given the current climate, to get into guns and know how to use guns. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- !!!
