I went in this store to buy a winter coat for MI. The sales lady Karen was so helpful and suggested gloves and boots I might need for my trip that I had not thought of. I called my husband to meet me at the store because of all the sales going on and Karen again helped my husband get the right size for a two piece sweat outfit. Then with her help we bought a twin blow up mattress and a bunch of other things while she directed us to what we were looking for. She was an angel. So helpful, nice, and professional. went in today for some firearm cleaning materials, i was the only customer in the store and the two employees were standing at the counter chit chatting. after a while one finally came and asked if he could help me, i had already found most of what i needed except for actual cleaning solutions like bore cleaner or oil. when i asked if they had any in stock he simply replied with "oh i have no idea" and walked away. why do the guys work there if they have no idea or even want to put in effort to check. he wasn't even wearing a name tag so i didn't get his name. the only other employee Ray was helpful at the cashier. read more

Walked into the store and was not greeted by anyone... walked to the counter to purchase a knife and a Hispanic gentleman was being assisted by a store employee Omar , omar didn't acknowledge me Nor asked if I needed help. He went back to the front of the store and began greeting other customers in the way I should have been greeted, I said excuse me, can I get some help. He asked someone to man the front while he helped me when no one was there when I arrived. I asked Omar if I can see a few knives he said yes but I need to hold your identification. We walked in with pkans if getting 2 pairs of shoes each (total of 6). Everything was fine with the young skinny light skinned man. He provide every shoe correctly. I decided to change my mind and go with another shoe. Young man went home for the day then I get Omar. I ask Omar to bring me one pair. While trying on i am listening to Omar tell his colleague about his pepper spray training in details. How they had him read license plates, how he went home and washed his hair to later cause it to reburn his eyes etc. Omar saying inrather take the option of being gun tazed than pepper sprayed. In the middle of his storied i ask for two different shoes at two seperate times. Omar provided the wrong shoe not once but twice. Despite me telling him he is bring me the wrong shoes ge continued. I thought it was best to ask another employee who wasnt busy tellkng a story rather than attention to detail. It also made me wonder ad he suppose to be a cop. This proves attention to details isnt the greatest but only whT they are focused on. Another story. I asked another employee who brought me the wrong shoe as well. They Re going off of looks rather than shoe yag and name. The shoes are similar but not the same. Becsuse of the incompetence we decided not to give them our money. I asked to speak to a manager and would you figure it was the old guy who too brought me the wrong shoe. He offered me to come in the back to look for it which was him trying to be a smart ass. If i have to find my own shoe then what is the point of you working? The Best of it all, yhe cashier saud let me get you the store manager. Guess who it is? OMAR!! Now it makes perfect sense why his employees are doing the same thi g and have the same lack of attention for details. To make matters worse, Omar ask me " so your only problem is i gave you the wrong shoe?" I responded " no! My problem is what you demonstrated up this moment. Piss poor attention to details. You gave me two wrong shoes foe two different shoes, your employee did the same thing, and you didnt even pay attention after making you aware, to pay attention to details. That is my problem wirh your lack of service, and fuether incompetent because YOU are the manager displaying the same lack of details. I absolutely love this store. They have amazing one day sales and weekly coupons. I would've given it 5 stars, however the customer service is lacking at this place. Today, the cashier Aolani was straight up rude. I asked her a yes or no question and she responded with a long reply. I then said, "so, the answers no". She responded with, "that's what I said!". Went there tonight to pick up a new pair of shoes. My 4 year old needed to use the restroom. OMG - truck stop bathrooms (which are gross) are cleaner than this one. That back area needs a thorough cleaning by a professional cleaning company and their employees need to learn to scrub a bathroom. I think the only person of the 3 I saw working was Nick. One guy pretended to be very busy. But I got my new shoes and Nick helped me select a couple more items. read more

Big 5 Sporting Goods is your run of the mill sporting goods store. They have more reasonable prices then Sports Challet and Sports Authority but their selection is sometimes lacking. I mean due to the size restraint alone that Big 5's usually have they can't carry as much stuff as the other places. That is also the charm of Big 5, whereas you would have to go through 3-4 people when at the other places, at Big 5 you deal with 1-2. I think the associates are a little more inclined to take care of what you need as well. An overall thumbs up for Big 5. read more

Congrats to Big 5 Sporting Goods!!! After all these years, Big 5 Sporting Goods is still around and managing to stay in business. The sporting goods business is tough. Just ask Sports Authority and Sports Chalet. Big 5 used to be the only sporting goods business around. And guess what?, they are still one of the only sporting goods stores that's still around today. Shoes, sporting equipment, sport accessories, and Under Armour clothing can all be found at Big 5. Big 5 has a great selection of hike pants, shoes, and shorts at almost half the cost of most retailers. Big 5 is also great for a beginner or novice of a specific sport. They have a lot of what I call "starter equipment". Are you just learning how to play golf? They have very affordable clubs and sets here. How about tennis? Yup, a bunch of starter rackets here too. They may not have the best brands in town, but they do have some of the best prices. I'm glad to see that Big 5 is still going strong. Good Luck!! read more

Definitely won't be back. I went in there looking for a pair of hiking shoes, I saw that there was a sale sign that said "$24.99" on a pair, so the manager got me a pair to try on. While I was talking with him, I even said "Wow these are great for $25." And he said yeah they have a lot of great sales going on. I look around a bit more and see a yoga mat that had an orange sale sign "$9.99." So I double check the brand and got one. I go to the cash register and the shoes rang up $30.00 and the yoga mat $20.00. I told them about the sale signs I saw and they double checked the yoga mat and tried to sell it to me for $14.99. I am positive I saw the $9.99 sign. I didn't even get the yoga mat, and just bought the shoes for $30.00. The manager said the sales must be "old." Then take them down?? 2 "old" sales that mislead one customer is pretty bad. Again, won't be back. read more

I was at the Big 5 store on Craig road a few weeks ago, the manager (I am assuming because he referred to the cashiers as his cashiers) he had gauges in his earlobes was very rude when I was paying because I was using a $10 dollar off $35 on clearance items. He said it stated on the coupon the clearance items were excluded. However I checked the coupon and it does not say clearance items are excluded. I don't know why Big 5 sends out coupons if they don't want customers to use them. I have bought many clearance shoes and clothing items which I send to my niece who is out of state, sometimes I get the wrong size and have to return them, but I always have my receipt. I have never had any problems using the coupon before I wont be back to this store. read more

Can't believe big 5 is still around after all these years. I went there to check out their snow gear in the beginning of February and I get it... It's las vegas. We're in the freaking desert but I would definitely not waste my time coming here again looking for snow items. First time visiting a Big 5 location since I moved to North Las Vegas from Seattle. Anyways, I entered the store looking for the Nike Hyper warm Hydro pull Hood for my younger brother. Before visiting any store I always find the item on the company's website and check to see if the nearest location has it in stock, so I can avoid having to purchase online. Well the 2020 W. Craig location said the item was in stock so I paid them a visit. When I asked for the item the associates there told me they didn't have it in stock anymore and explained to me that they might have shipped the items away until they would bring it back for winter. Although they said this, 1 of the 2 associates began to search for the item behind the register just to make sure they didn't have any laying around. So he looks for it and says "yeah man, looks like we don't have it" so I say thank you for checking and leave the store. As I make my way towards my car, just out of curiosity I pull out my phone, bring up the store location, search for the item and select find item location. The same location I was in still said "item in stock" so I go back in and speak to an employee who I assumed was the manager and showed him what was on my phone. He tells me the same thing and I as if he can find another location that might have it. He asked for the SKU # of the product and searched for it via the stores computer. He realizes that the very store we are standing in has 4 in stock. At this moment, another customer walks up and asks to get his foot measured so the manager helps him and tosses my problem to the associate next to him who was there listening the whole time. So she begins to look again around the register where they keep all their hyper warm gear and low and behold she finds it stacked between some nike shooting sleeves. I laugh at how the first associate that searched for it gave little to no effort in moving all the items away to search for it. I thank the associate right away and I purchase the item. If it wasn't for her effort in pulling out each item and thoroughly searching through every item, I would have waited a week for the item to ship via online purchase. I've worked In retail before and If I let a customer wait that long for an item that we had all along they would have been pretty pissed or made some rude remark. But I didn't because I've been there and it makes you feel really bad when someone berates you or insults you. Just an advice to the first associate, put some effort into searching for an item.
