Great option if you need to pick up some Asian groceries as this place offers so many options, food and non food, mainly Chinese although they also carry other Asian products such as Japanese, Korean, and many more. We went there yesterday, just 4 days before the upcoming Chinese new year on the 20th of Jan 2023, so naturally they had many Chinese new year's item - candied dried fruits, cookies, etc. But mostly I liked the variety of spices and sauces they had. I also found many great selections of deserts such as Mochi (Japanese rice cakes), ice cream, and even boba drink mix plus the tapioca balls. Oh and keep in mind they also had a section, not huge, for hot foods where you could get Chinese BBQ pork. The supermarket was pretty tidy and it was pretty convenient to shop at this store. The line for customers to pay was a little blurry and unclear, but other than that my experience here was pretty good. read more

They have a little butcher area in the back and Omg the roast duck and the crispy pork are so good! I'll definitely be back!! It's also got a pretty good selection of other Asian grocery items, but is not as big as some of the other stores. read more

I have been shopping here on and off since the 90's. It used to be a bit darker and sparser on the inside, but the owners have brightened it up somewhat since then. They have a good variety of rice noodles (dry or refrigerated type), various prepared frozen dumplings/scallion cakes/steamed buns/chashu buns and some dim sum items....and frozen boba tea drink mix + frozen milk tea boba treats on a stick (all from Taiwan). Taste is yummy! They also have the best Chinese BBQ pork...which tastes awesome in a bao bun with radish sprouts! Good place to look for hard-to-find Asian veggies & ingredients. Happy eating! This Asian/Chinese provision store has a lot going for it. Well stocked, relatively clean, freezer section large and well maintained. A small but interesting fresh fruit collection, fresh quality vegetables, lots of interesting and good quality refrigerated and dry goods. Meat of variable quality, select carefully. Recommended for fruit, vegetables, fresh noodles, dry goods, and friendly atmosphere. A fun place to shop. read more

So, I LOVE this shop. From the Pekin ducks hanging in the back to the live blue crabs sitting in a box by the front door. Evergreen has authentic Asian groceries! They have a section for fruits, veggies, and greens. They have the CHEAPEST live lobster in town and tons of interesting seafood. If you go in you simply MUST head to the back and get some ready made food. They will chop up a Pekin duck for you and shove it in a box. Good luck trying to get home without sneaking a bite. Asian grocery store on the Southfield/Detroit border that you would never find unless you were specifically looking for it. Great authentic Chinese groceries- many more Chinese specific brand names than the Meijer aisle. Fresh seafood and the BBQ Pork, Roast Pork and Duck are on point, though a little higher priced than the places in Madison Heights. Also lots of frozen dim sum options- obviously not the most "authentic" since dim sum would be best fresh, but if you want to satisfy a craving and steam them yourself, this is a great option. Pro tip: they carry multiple brands and types of Shirataki Noodles for you low-carb noodle seekers out there. Some tofu, some no-tofu. You will have to try them all to see which one is your favorite, but they are all right around $2.00 a package which is right around what you'd find at Kroger or Meijer. read more

I have been coming here since calculators were the fastest way to calculate the total. The place looks slightly run down with red roof and yellow walls. They have THE BEST bbq pork and roasted pig and duck. My parents say that it is made better than the restaurants in China, that is how you know it is good stuff. We also make it a tradition to buy fresh crab during the holidays. As a child, I used to play with the live blue crab at the front of the store. I'm not sure the real name of this place, om the door as well is Oriental Grocers & in Chinese Da Lai. Full of good Chinese veggies like bitter Gourd,Bok Choy , Myriads of cuttle fish balls, Squid, meatablls all perfect for our weekly "hot pot" & the reason we went here the super spicy Sichaun soup base ofr hot pot. Also some grerat thin Onion pancakes which are perfect for Chinese "Burittos" A bit of a dingy pace & awfully close to the fleshpots of 8 mile, is that a Pro or con?? Ok, by now you have realized that Michigan is not the unlimited bastion of Asian cuisine, if you are from either of the coasts, BUT what we got is good! Come here for a well stock Chinese grocery store with a wide range of fresh vegetables (yau choy, gai lan, yung choy), dungeness crabs, lobsters, catfish, tilapia AND CHA SIU!! You know those roasted ducks and pig you see hanging in the windows of Chinatowns? They have that here. Makes me so happy to have a place to get all my (South) Chinese good in one place (and I have since I was a child. Its much cleaner than I remember - also under new ownership since then). Great place to pick up other Asian goods. Not so much Korean and Japanese, but other good things can be picked up here like tocino, banh mi ingredients, halo halo, Vietnamese coffee filter and Taiwanese tuna floss. On a Good Friday afternoon, I talked to a Liberian couple splurging for crab and a Latino family joking with the fish guy as they ordered their catfish, squid and shrimp for their Easter soup. I have been going to this small, well-stocked market for two decades. I know it as Oriental Groceries on Lahser. I've moved further north and have yet to find anything comparable, so getting there is a planned event. They have live lobsters, a fish counter in the back and have a wide choice of soy sauce (so do some research before going to know what you want). My staples are rice flour, Tamari (surprisingly Kikkoman's seemed the most prominent Tamari during my recent 2020 visit), lemongrass, ginger, fortune cookies. I get disappointed when they are out of lemongrass. Nevertheless, this is my go-to for Asian ingredients. read more

I LOVE this place!!! I've been living across the street from this store for almost 5 years now and shop there frequently...At first I wasn't sure what I would ever buy from there (being African American and having never shopped at an Asian grocery store before) but I quickly found out that they have LOTS of fresh and delicious things I already liked and stuff I tried and have become family favorites...My kids LOVE Raman noodles, they used to eat the little top Raman noodle packs from the regular grocery store...They won't touch them anymore since I started buying them different flavors from this store...I make real meals with just the different regular noodles from here and they love it...They have the biggest freshest shrimp and crab and I love the veggie spring rolls they offer in the freezer section! We've tried so many sweets and treats from here and my husband loves almost every I decide to bring home! I've recommend this store so much to family members and friends just looking to try something different and I'll continue to do so! It's also the biggest plus that the staff is ALWAYS nice and helpful! read more

The roast duck & pork are going in my arsenal of foods to buy to get back rubs. M.i.s.t.e.r. Loved it and kept asking, you got this where? I wish I would've gotten to enjoy the leftovers that had my eyeballs drooling but I got the flu that same night and couldn't taste anything. So I am hauling hide back in a week or two and loading up. I was pleased that they also had many fish options like red snapper at reasonable rates and head on shelled shrimp I use in my creole bbq shrimp. Simply an excellent Chinese grocery, one of the best in the area, rivaled, in my mind, only by Hua Xing in Ypsilanti and the new place (as of this writing) in Troy. Simply a good grocery with a lot of stuff: good fish and meet, unusual cuts, great Chinese veggies, including several different kinds of "Chinese broccoli," and stuff that's harder to find in the world of tea, herbs, sauces, etc. Also, they have cold pork buns and other pastries for heating up at home, as well as, get this, several types of frozen Chinese dumplings and meatballs. It's at 8 and Lahser, but on Lahser, just north, behind an auto shop. Do make it a visit. The only drawback far as I can see: no booze (probably no liquor license). read more
