I have used Spartan Movers for two different moves and they were efficient and professional both times. I moved across town during a snow storm and they completed the full move in less than three hours. I was worried about the weather delaying the move, but they were super prepared and performed the move faster than I anticipated. My recent move from Malden to Quincy took about 4 hours and the team was very pleasant to work with from start to finish. We had a great experience with this company. Three movers arrived right on the dot with a truck after calling to let us know they were arriving. In 20 minutes the entire apartment was loaded. Even my furniture that was wobbly made it. They made a pitstop to pick something up, and again that took all of 15 minutes. The unloading took a bit over an hour because of our own situation. They were super professional and there were no hidden fees, but I also had all the packing tape and all of my stuff packed, so there was no reason to have weird stuff tacked on. read more

We used Spartan movers for a local move. And they were simply amazing! We were stressed out before the move but they made the entire process easy and pleasurable. They sent us 3 movers and they were all quick and efficient. We moved into a home on the 2nd and 3rd floor home with no stairs, and chose to pack most of the home ourselves, asking them to do just the large mirrors, TV, etc. The crew of three was super quick and helpful. We had some fragile and valuable items that we chose to take in our car, and the crew still loaded and unloaded these items from our car. They were friendly, polite, and accommodating, of our ad hoc requests. For example, they helped us dismantle some Ikea cupboards before loading them. They also let us use their wardrobe boxes at no charge. They asked us where to keep each piece if furniture and didn't complain when we changed our mind a few times :) Thank you Leandro and crew! read more

I'm giving such a low score because a one bedroom apartment took three guys 10 hours! The team was pretty small about 5 feet tall all three of them. I paid for movers that we're going to be able to get the job done I was quoted three hours. I tried to talk to their boss and let them know there's no way of 750 foot Apartment could possibly take 10 hours it took less than two to unload. When I got my quote let them know I had stairs and elevator at the new place. And they still quoted me for three hours. Be very careful. They were very nice and kind and respectful but $1300 was more than I could possibly afford to give. I don't have a job and I feel like I totally got robbed. Leo and the 2 men that worked with him were professional and very nice. They wrapped all of the furniture and took great care with our belongings. I read the contract and knew they charged for the furniture wrapping supplies. I am grateful that they had the material and took the time to do it. Their prices were very reasonable and cost less than 2 other companies that I had considered using. They moved a house full of furniture and boxes to our new apartment and were done by 2:30. I had a WONDERFUL experience this past weekend with Spartan Movers. Leandro, Pedro and Carlos were awesome, fast, and super friendly. They made my 4 story walk-up seem easy. They showed up earlier than anticipated, and finished earlier than anticipated! The rates were competitive as I shopped around, and I am glad I went with Spartan. The communication was great from start to finish with this company. David in the office was also very communicative. When the movers showed up Leandro went over the paperwork with me, and we did a walk through of my apartment. Before they wrapped anything with their own supplies, they asked me if it was okay, and explained any extra charges before doing so. They were careful with my items, and they really made our life very easy during a stressful situation. All 3 movers listened to me when I played traffic cop with the boxes, and were extremely professional the entire time. I will be recommending their services to any friends who need help with moving. I hired these movers expecting a seamless move after reading past reviews. I recieved a qoute for an hourly rate. They sent me 3 guys which 2 of them were barely 5 feet tall and in their 50s. The third guy who was in his 20s and the strongest strayed in the truck most of the day. I have used many moving companies and know the last move time for a 2 bedroom apartment was 5 hours. As I am writing this review they are in their 9th hour. It rook them a total.of 10 hours. The only reason for a third star is because some charges were reversed and the movers were very polite despite their performance. read more

Did pretty great work, took slightly more time than expected, but did a great job. Arrived at 8 and got job done by 12:30, the travel time should have been 30 mins, but it took them 1hr but they've deducted 15 mins for the break they took on the way. Great job altogether. read more

They slapped extra charges for a few packing materials even though none of this was mentioned in their initial quote. It is understood that the movers will be moving your furniture without you needing to buy packing material to wrap furniture but they charged for whatever tape and cardboard they used to protect and move that furniture as well. Again none of this extra cost was mentioned anywhere. Secondly, out of 3 people there was just the one senior person who was working efficiently, the other two were kids who were skinny boys, inexperienced and worked slowly. Wouldn't recommend Spartan as there are better movers out there. read more

I called a number of different moving companies for a quote. Spartan got back to me right away and assured me there was no hidden fees. I moved out out of an apartment on the third floor! Regardless, the rate was very competitive, three men came to move me where most companies send two. The movers that moved me were great! Friendly, professional, more concerned about my stuff then I was. I hope I never need them again, but would strongly recommend them to everyone I know. If you need movers, just use Spartan! I'm very unsatisfied with the move and the company. The movers did the job very slow, so I end up way overcharged. I got charged more than $1000 for a 2 bedroom apartment move (no living room furniture) across town 3 miles away! I had done local moves twice before in the past 5 years. Compare to last time, I have almost the same amount of furniture. The only additions are 1 twin size bed, and one 49" TV, which I packed nicely in the original box. Also this time I might have about 5 more boxes. All my things only filled about 1/4 of the space in the truck. The last move was from a second floor apt with no elevator to a 4th floor apt with elevator. This time is from a 4th floor with elevator to a second floor with no elevator. So very comparable. Last time was a 3 person crew, same as this time. Last move took less than 3 hours, and this time it took more than 6 hours (exclude driving time)!!! I had quotes from 5 different companies before I picked Spartan Movers. All quoted about 3-4 hour job based on a detailed list of stuff I have. Because I had the experience of the previous 2 similar moves, I thought 3-4 hours is reasonable, so I picked Spartan Movers who has a very good yelp review and was available. I don't know if I happened to end up with the wrong crew or not. 2 of the 3 movers are not young and shorter than my son, who's only 5'3". The movers are nice and hard working people, but simply not competent as movers in my opinion. The movers for my last move were all big strong guys. Also when taking the furniture apart and putting them together, they did not use any power tool, so that added more time. They were probably tired from a morning move before mine, but last time was the same, it was an afternoon job too. Now comes to my problem with the company. When I see the charge at the end of the move, I pointed out the same thing as I described above, it took them too long. So the mover called someone on the phone I assume is a supervisor. When I talked to that person, he just said they charge by the hour, the movers were not sitting around, they've been working, so I should pay for those hours, they don't work for free. I said yeah, they've been working, but way slower then other people, and of course I understand each move is different, but I'd expect it to finish within a reasonable amount of time. Especially I have comparison from previous similar moves, this should be a 3 hour job, not 6! Then he just said if you think it's a 3 hour job, why are you only saying this now when it's finished? Why didn't you just ask them to stop after 3 hours and leave your things? I was shocked by this comment, who would ask a mover to stop in the middle of a move and have them dump your furniture on the side of the road?! I was very upset and tired, just paid the money. I will never use this company again! read more

We moved on the hottest day of the week in the middle of a heat wave and no grumbles or complaints. Best of all they didn't damage our stuff or the place we were moving to/from. We hired Spartan Movers for a very short notice out of state move. The owner, David, made my family's needs a priority and got us booked for a bright and early Saturday morning move. The movers showed up right on time. I was blown away by how fast they got all of our boxes loaded onto the truck. Not only were they fast, but they were professional and friendly. I moved out of 4,000 sq foot house into a rental home and then moved into a new home I purchased. That's a lot of moving a ton of stuff around. I had the same three-man team each time. Leandro, Jose, and Jesus did an amazing job with our move last weekend from Nashua NH to Westford MA. They communicated when they would arrive in the morning, packed up our stuff quickly, efficiently, and safely, and then unloaded our things in our new place just as quickly, efficiently, and safely. None of our fragile items (even mirrors!) were damaged, and they even adapted to pack up items that we had planned to transport ourselves later. Can't say enough good things about this group and their professionalism. Not communicative and pretty brusque. Sent them information, stating the times our building would allow us access to the elevator. Originally they had been fine with this but then they called to ask if we could push a bit earlier. I got the building to let us have access an hour earlier, and followed up with this information to Ashish. I hadn't heard anything back so I followed up again. He responded curtly, despite having dropped the ball and not responding to us. Moving in Boston is very time sensitive and businesses who don't respond in a timely manner and are rude when you have to follow up multiple times aren't going to get our business. We ended up booking with another moving company who handled themselves and their clients more professionally, and we're happy we did. Follow up: I received an email that accused me of lying about my experience. I followed up with email receipts that supported my story. Recommendation: if you say you care about customer feedback, following up to learn about the customer experience is the way to go, not to accuse them of lying. Had they taken that tact, I would have given more stars back. Live and learn. read more
