We have become regulars at Sparta's in Bothell. We visit at least once a month and for special occasions. Our family of 5 enjoys the Pizza the most. The baked Danish cheese is the best part. Service and atmosphere are always excellent. A very friendly family establishment. My only suggestion would be more sauce on the pie, but we usually order a side of red sauce for dipping and everyone is happy. read more

The place looks decent, I didn't know the red sauce has cinnamon in it....honestly makes it have an Indian food flavor and I'm not partial to it in the slightest. The waiter was some snotty teenage kid who acted like we were torturing him each time we asked him anything .....basically whenever he was prompted to do his job. Anyhow the food made me sick the entire rest of the day and them I found out that my entire party got sick from their food. im sure it's not like this every time.....but wow...... not impressed and not coming back... the thing that blew my mind was that they were apparently raising prices.....but why pay twice the price of what it's worth. A happy surprise. I tried to meet a friend at the Mexican joint across the street and it was so crowded I couldn't even park to see how long the wait was. I quickly found Sparta's and changed plans. We split a half crate of white, I got a small salad and she got a personal pizza. Though I really wish the salads had options for greens rather than ice burg, it was surprisingly good! I think it is the cheese they put on paired with the generous dressing. My friend enjoyed her personal pizza and had a few bites of my yummy salad. I'll be back when I am more hungry because the pasta entrees seem like a great deal, they come with salad and greasy, yummy looking garlic bread. Not a ton of vegetarian pasta options, but a few. The minestrone has a beef broth so that's a bummer. Definitely family friendly, they did a LOT of take out while I was there and the dining rooms wasn't too busy even during prime dinner hours. read more

I almost always use an entertainment coupon when I go here and it is a bit out of the way for me. The pizza I have had each time is absolutely fabulous. Without a coupon it may seem a little pricey but the pizzas are loaded and delicious using great ingredients; very friendly staff too. I find it hard not to consider when I'm thinking pizza even when I don't have a coupon to use. Just wish it was a bit closer to Redmond. read more

My wife and I decided to eat Italian while in the bothell area on vacation. My wife found the Bothell Sparta's Pizza & Spaghetti House on yelp with four stars so we figure we'd go try it out. The worst experience we've ever had in a restaurant and we didn't even get a chance to order or taste the food. We walked in the restaurant with our 9 year old son and we were immediately greeted by the manager Louise. My son had his i-pod in hand and was playing a game. She began speaking with our son about his shirt and advised him that he was going to have an interesting dinner learning more about his parents, since they do not allow electronic devices such as i-pods in their establishment. I then asked Louise if she was serious and she stated she was. At this time I felt that we should leave, but I did not say anything. We were then seated at our table and greeted by our waitress. I don't remember her name but it was a young blonde short haired girl. We began speaking with her and I asked her if it was true what her manger said about not having electronic devices and she also confirmed this was true that this was their policy. We gave her our drink order and at that time my son became very nervous and began to cry while still holding his i-pod thinking that he did something wrong. I tried to calm him down explaining to him that he had done nothing wrong. While waiting on our waitress to bring our drinks and take our food order Louise once again looked over at our son from a distance and told our son that she's watching him. Here we went again, after calming my son down he began uncontrollably crying. At this time the waitress arrived with our drinks and I explained to her that we were not ready to order since we were trying to calm our son down. Her exact response was "that's funny" while laughing as she walked away. I could not believe this was going on and advised my wife and son to leave and go wait in our car. At this time I was very upset and walked over to our waitress asking her for our tab for the drinks. She then told me told hold on and got the manager Louise to come talk to me. I advised them that I didn't think any of this was funny and was very unprofessional. Louise then apologized and told me she was just doing it "in jest". She then stated she was not charging me for the drinks and apologized again. Louise asked me if she could go apologize to my son and at this time, I said no. She continued to follow me to the parking lot to our vehicle. She again began speaking with our son who was still sobbing and she began apologizing to him. We then got into our car to leave and as she was walking back in the restaurant stated "this is not good". Once I arrived to our hotel I called their Lynwood location and asked the manager if they had a policy regarding electronic devices, since I honestly was still not sure if it was their policy or not. Of course they advised me that this was NOT their policy. If this was actually your policy I could understand and accept it, but it should be posted. The problem I have is not the "policy" it's the harsh scolding tone that Louise had towards our son then after she saw him upset began bribing him with ice cream. If you have small children just beware of this establishments dry sense of humor or what they believe to be funny. They are not kid friendly. Louise you should definitely not be treating children or customers the way you treated us. I'm all about joking around but you need to know when to stop especially when it involves hurting children's feelings. I'm very familiar in dealing with customers as I'm a small business owner myself. I can assure you if any of my managers did what you did, you would be looking for another job. To the owners Chuck and Linda I suggest you give your managers and employees some sensitivity training and classes in people skills if you plan on staying in business for years to come. I'm sure the food is really good after looking at all the reviews; if you don't have employees and management with good people skills it will drive your business to the ground. I attempted to reach you several times to discuss this before I left Washington, but I was told that you both were on vacation. read more

My wife and I have been patronizing this place for more than 10 years. If I was reviewing only the food, I would give it 5 stars. The place is always busy and the waitstaff is friendly and efficient. If the owners would spend some money to update the place, it would be much more appealing. While they keep the place clean, it's getting a little threadbare. It can also be noisy - especially on a Friday night before a Bothell High School football game. Good family restaurant but not a place to bring a date - unless it's the 5th or 6th date. If you like salad, order the Sparta's house salad - it's inexpensive and very generous - and the freshest lettuce you're likely to find anywhere. If you're a small person, the salad just might fill you up. We usually order the medium Sparta's Special pizza. It's "Greek" style pizza - not everyone is thrilled by this style - so you are warned! The pizza is thick and chewy (the way we like it) so avoid Sparta's if you prefer thin crust. We call this our "standby" place - we visit at least once every couple of months. There is a sister Sparta's in Lynnwood on Hwy 99 - I think the cuisine is very similar. read more

I was in Bothell recently and to my good fortune I went into Sparta's Pizza around 2PM. I ordered a 10 inch pizza with 4 toppings and it was enough to feed 2 people. I have enough left over for 2 more meals. The Danish motzarella is so good and the service was really good also. read more

I was little worried based off of what seems to be equally good and not so good reviews... but we went anyways and... FANTASTIC. First off, whoever went there and said they had bad service? Where did you go? We've been to many higher end restaurants and not had service that good. Very much a team effort from the staff... anyone and everyone that passed our table looked for dishes to clear and then cleared them if need be. Our waiter was amazing. AMAZING. The woman that greeted us when we first came in was kind and checked in with us a few minutes into our wait just to let us know we weren't forgotten and would be seated soon. The pizza is fantastic, the spaghetti totally won over my spaghetti-loving son, and the tiramisu was perfection. How they could get a bad review, I don't know. We're picky. I'm not really sure why this place is rated as high as it is. It took forever for us to get our order in. Salad was okish, however it was, lettuce, a little cheese, olives and thinned out dressing, that's it. The Gyro I had was not that great at all only two thin slicked pieces of meat, and lots of lettuce to take up space I guess. We ate here last night for a quick bite. The pizza was interesting - we had ordered a pepperoni & a cheese pizza. The pepperonis were hidden beneath a thick layer of gooey cheese and the crust had a thick homemade vibe. There was also chicken parmigiana (good) and a combo pasta dish at our table.... The meat raviolis were a little dry, but good. The red sauce was unique - a little sweet and a hint of anise... Unique enough to be special, but not overpowering or weird. I don't normally trust reviews, much less write them, but I have to describe the experience we had with Sparta's in Bothell last night. We made a reservation for a large party, 25 rowdy ladies!. Not only did they show me the space, they called to confirm the number the day of the dinner. This is nice, but what I didn't expect was the special treatment we received from the entire staff. Our tables were set up and Jennifer did a spectacular job getting our orders in and out exactly as ordered and doing so with a beautiful smile and attitude. The food was great, everyone was sharing and we ended up taking a lot home. It was nice to have a business want and appreciate our business. This is our go-to girls night out spot! read more

I've been going here so since I was a little girl. The food here is amazing!!! But EVERY SINGLE FRICKING TIME that I order pasta with tomato sauce they give me meat sauce. To some this may be fine, but I don't eat meat. I don't know if it's how they write it down or the cooks don't know which pot has the tomato sauce and which has the meat sauce but it's super frustrating. Especially when we do a to go order. So because of that they get a 3 star. They either need better communication or better markings on the pot read more

Came in with my boyfriend for a quick lunch. Going to get to the point. The food was not very good. Boyfriend has spaghetti with 1 meat ball. I had a taste and it was lukewarm and the meatball tasted somewhat rare. I ordered the salad and soup. The portion of the salad and soup was a portion that should pertain to the Kiddie Menu. Very little salad and even smaller portion of soup. In fact, it only took 2 spoonfuls and I was finished with the entire meal. Not a good value for what you spend versus what you get. read more

We've been to that place ones . Nice looking, cozy place but we didn't have a pleasant experience unfortunately. The waitress irritated us a lot. She was hurried us to order and her tone was not welcoming at all. Our second attempt was much worse. We came after my son's game and the same waitress told us (without saying welcome or hello) we are closing in 15 minutes with a "go away" on her face. I've never seen anything like this. Even though we told her that we will just order pizza that made her even more annoyed. She said kitchen will be close in 8 minutes! Well it's definitely not a polite way to welcome customers. She was rushing to go home. That's obvious. Didn't let us in. I am wondering how can an owner can let her/his employees treating customers like this? The owner was there when this is happening and she is to the waitress "that's ok" Well it's not ok. This is rude, unprofessional and ridiculous. I've never been treated so terrible, the manager (Louise) at the Bothell location is incredibly rude. Having absolutely NO customer service skills, I don't know how she obtains her position. It's too bad, because I like the food, but her attitude made me not want to come back. She has no respect for customers, or people in general I think! I'm not the first to write a negative review regarding service by Louise, and there is a reason for that. First off they say they use danish cheese. What is danish cheese? I have no idea and I have worked selling cheeses. Second I ordered lasagna....lasagna 99% of the time has cheese (ricotta and mazzarella) between the noodles, well not sparta's. The sauce was fishy and the garlic bread dry. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE THE FOOD HERE, which is the only reason why I gave such a HIGH rating. I work by this Sparta's, we used to frequent here quite often, then two years ago a group of my co-workers and I went here for lunch. We received such HORRIBLE customer service, that we did not return again until today. Wouldn't you know it the same waitress waited on our table as before. I'm all about giving people the benefit of doubt. Maybe she was having a bad day last time. Unfortunately that turned out to not be the case. From the moment we sat down, she just assumed we were all drinking water, "water for everyone" and turned to walk away so quickly one person had to say, "um no excuse me....". Once she returned to take our orders she wanted to start with a certain person, she was not ready to order and asked her to start on the other side of the table. To which the waitress replied "Well I'm going to start here with you and go around the table to keep everything in order". When she took my order I explained that one meal on my ticket would be to go, and then a separate to go order on another ticket, to which she got frustrated and said, "well don't you just want everything on your ticket?" LADY - If I had wanted everything on my ticket I wouldn't have asked for separate tickets. She continued taking our orders, then when it came time to bring out the salads, she had no idea which one went where, so much for keeping everything in order. Our food was brought out in a timely fashion, thank goodness, and about the time she came around to ask how our food and everyone was doing, we were ready for boxes (yes, it took that long). There was one young man who was helping her and came around and re-filled our waters, very pleasant interaction. After we asked for our boxes she began taking our plates, and returned our food dumped in a box. Two of the people in our party were fortunate enough to have been asked by the young man if they needed to go boxes. When he brought their food back, the bread was wrapped in the paper that they normally wrap their bread in and the additional food in a box, and all together in a bag (WELL DONE YOUNG MAN). We made sure to tell him that that is what customer service is about and that he deserved to be promoted. When she brought our checks around we notified her that we had $2 off discounts as part of the Sparta's VIP club, to which she said, "well next time you need to tell me because now I have to re-do all of your checks". We still don't understand why she didn't take our payment cards with her so that she could re-run the checks and charge us at the same time. She brings back our up-dated checks, takes our payments, and comes back with all of our receipts and cards on a serving tray with a pile of pens and says "Here this is the easiest way to do it since I don't know who's who after I took them". Needless to say, we will not be returning here anytime soon, and I doubt I will even order out just to avoid seeing this woman, who clearly has no business being in the service industry. No wonder it is always empty when we go in here!!! read more
