I have a few Spartina handbags and wristlets as I love the quality and designs. I especially like the regional map designs and was hoping to find one for either Charleston or SC. I've usually made my purchases at stand alone boutiques and was excited to see an actual "Spartina 449" store so I had to go in. I walked in wearing blue jeans, a T shirt, and tennis shoes. I was hoping I'd be acknowledged in some way, however I was not. I saw other women dressed up like they just came from an afternoon tea or brunch being acknowledged and assistance looking for desired merchandise. Did II somehow miss a dress code? I was in there for at least 5 minutes before I walked out. Truly disappointed in my experience. I guess you have to look like you have money in order to be helped in making a sale. Not sure if your employees are on commission or not, but they certainly lost a sale in me. I guess I'll start looking on your website or stand alone businesses that may carry your products. read more

My spartina purse handles are in terrible shape. I only use for special occasions. But the handles don't hold up. So disappointed!

I always seem to make a stop here...'cuz this store is just gorgeous, for one, and it's always nicely air conditioned. Can't say the same for some of the stores on this strip. Most of their items are a bit too preppy or beachy for me, but somehow, they manage to seduce me...and I HAVE done some damage here in the past. as another reviewer said, the bag "disintegrated" after 2 summers of light use. the faux leather on the strap and trim flaked off all over my clothing. I wrote to them about it and they did nothing, saying there was a 90 day guarantee if purchased in one of their stores or on their website and this was normal wear and tear. Pretty stuff but the staff at this store need serious lessons in customer service! My husband and I were in there yesterday afternoon -- the only customers in the store. There were two staffers and I don't think we were greeted or acknowledged even once. And it's not like we were scruffy homeless people or something. I have serval Spartina bags, wallets and totes. They are absolutely beautiful. My only complaint, the company does not stand behind the craftsmanship of their products. I have a handbag that I used maybe 5 times and the gold on the straps is cracking and peeling. It makes the bag look so cheap. I contacted customer service and spoke to Demetres. She said unfortunately they don't make replacement straps. I asked to speak to someone else who then offered me a 30% off coupon. I think that is terrible compensation for a bag that is falling apart through no fault of mine. I will post pictures and you can make your own decision if it's worth the risk of purchasing a handbag the company is not going to stand behind. I really liked this store - esp since in January they had 35-50% off everything. Timing is everything!Got RFID wallet for $47, great wrinkle free summer dress for 47 and a really nice teal dress for $56. How can you beat that? Staff are here are helpful. One drawback is the change room is the store bathroom since clothes are not their major inventory. read more

My mother and I were visiting my daughter at CofC and when in Charleston you shop! This store is so cute and somewhat reasonably priced. HOWEVER! We spent a long time in the store looking for special things. We were trying to buy something specific for my sister in law and we were send pictures to her. We bought the ones we thought she liked, ($98. 18ky gold plated beaded fringe) We left the store, walked ABOUT a block and my sister in law finically responded that she wanted the other ones so we went back to exchange- simple. (I work in sales in a jeweler store). The answer was No jewelry in final sale. UMMMM WTH we just left!!! They were almost $100! They never said that to us. What bull shit. My mom said "I will NEVER shop there again". And is a fact. Never again. read more

I really like the Spartina 449 store on King Street in Charleston. The store is great for Lowcountry themed gifts. I really like the layout and theme of the store as there is cool maps everywhere and many different types of different items. The store even has sweet tea available for shoppers that come in and the tea is very tasty and refreshing and welcome on a hot day. The staff here is very friendly and cool and adds to the overall shopping experience. I was able to find many different gifts here for some people on my shopping list for a good value. read more

I have a couple of Spartina items that people have given me as gifts, but this is the first Spartina store I've ever visited. I am so glad I decided to go in! There is a variety of gorgeous jewelry at the front, and them toward the back there are purses, wallets, and other accessories. Spartina has a beachy vibe to it that makes the environment feel really fun. If you are a jewelry and accessories lover, you should definitely check it out! Super cute. read more

Don't Buy Online!--Terrible Customer Service I visited the King Street store this Summer and fell in love with the brand, bought some jewelry and some purses. I then recently purchased an Idea Folio in the Mystic Mermaid pattern and a mermaid coin purse online for my friend's daughter who loves mermaids. I have spent hundreds of dollars there thus far. No more! When I received my folio not only did it have an overwhelming chemical smell which I had to air out for days, but the business card insert was crooked. I called customer service and was passed from person to person (Ray, then passed to Angel, then back to Ray again, the back to Kristen "the online manager", then back to Ray again). None of them appeared to be listening and each time repeated back to me the wrong information. They asked that I email a picture of the defect, which I did. The only solution they offered was for me to mail it back so that they could make an insurance claim. What? It could not have cost more than $20-30. I then asked for a supervisor and was given 3 alleged supervisors, one who was in New York, another on maternity leave, and a when I asked for who was in charge of all the alleged supervisors, I was given a "customer service support email" which would have gone to the same people I was communicating with. I am so displeased with the customer service that I will NEVER EVER shop there again, nor recommend them to my friends/family. When I told them this over the phone, they really did not seem to care. If you care about repeat customers, you should care. I will take my hard earned money somewhere else! This has been my experience and my opinion. read more

My daughter has recently started collecting Spartina's Mermaid necklaces, which I have started getting her for her birthday and Christmas presents. So when my aunt bought me a bracelet from their Savannah store for a late Christmas gift that was not a great fit, I thought I would exchange it for another necklace and pay for the difference if necessary. I was shocked when a sales associate refused to do that for me today even though my bracelet was new with tags in its original box with receipt. She said that it was not in their store's inventory even though I know my aunt bought the bracelet just weeks ago from the Savannah store on Broughton street under the same company. Sadly, I think that it is time for me to find another jewelry collection to buy my daughter with a company that values the customer more and offers better customer service. read more
