Spatola's is a great pizza placed. Our family is really enjoying having a quality pizza place in that location. The previous place was awful and we were hesitant to try something new, but we are glad we did. We have had the sicilian pizza and the traditional pizza. So far my favorite is the traditional. I love the sauce and the cheese is not too greasy, even with the pepperoni I thought the sicilian crust was a little too chewy and it is cut different every time we get it, but it's still really good. Favorite sicilian will always be Rocco's. Another huge bonus for us is that they offer gluten free pizza. My kids are gluten sensitive and LOVE this pizza. I wish they offered a large sized gluten free pizza. read more

Tonight service was atrocious, and management attitude unforgivable. Extended wait for simple dishes, some coming after all others finished. Reduced to begging at the counter for 50 min old order. No apologies or even recognition of poor service. Food has typically been good. Lost a whole family's business over poor treatment of customers. Spatola's is really really on point. Their food is consistent, fast, flavorful and always with a smile. This is our go-to take out pizza-type place, but everything on the menu is wonderful. From the ACTUALLY grilled chicken for salads, to the Trenton pizza (my favorite) to the penne alla vodka, you just can't go wrong. read more

The pizza was good but the customer service was lacking. I ordered a pizza and garlic bread. When I showed up to pick it up, they told me that they accidentally gave my order to the person in front of me. I knew he was lying because I saw the person in front of me leave and she didn't have a large pizza and garlic bread. I called his bluff and said, "I'll just take what she ordered then." He ignored me and walked away. They made me a fresh pie and garlic bread which took FOREVER. People were coming in and picking up large pizzas. Why couldn't they give me a pie that someone else ordered after me? No discount was offered for their mistake. I also never received an apology. This was our first time trying out Spatola's and we are definitely impressed. The cheese pizza was just about perfect. We also tried the Trenton special, thinking it would be like a fresh margherita but it was more like a regular cheese with extra tomato sauce, garlic, and olive oil. The result was mushy with too-thin crust, but it was still good. I would definitely recommend it. It's worth the extra buck or two over crappy chain pizza like Papa Johns. read more

Such a great family-run restaurant! We absolutely love the Trenton & Brooklyn style pizzas, and the Buffalo Chicken Calzone is amazing. Another favorite is the Cheese Steak Pizza. The square pizza crust is light and crisp, and the sauce is perfectly seasoned...never bitter or salty. We have yet to try something we didn't find fresh & delicious. Such a welcoming and friendly place...we look forward to going week after week. In addition to the delicious food, the staff works with us to keep my daughter with food allergies safe. Incredibly disappointed My husband and I have 4 Spatola coupons that we bought from Downingtown East lacrosse. The coupon says "FREE sandwich with purchase of any sandwich, French fry and soda." We called and said we had this coupon and ordered two chicken cheesesteaks which were listed as sandwiches on the menu. When my husband picked up, the MANAGER said that there was a misprint and coupon was for small sandwiches. There are no small sandwiches on the menu. He refused to honor the coupon. My husband offered to pay the difference in price between small and regular and the manager refused. TERRIBLE. Will not be back. read more

This location was formerly Joey's Pizza. The restaurant reopened about a month ago as Spatola's Pizza. Much better pizza! I recently tried their "Veggie" pizza. The crust was nice & crispy, notable considering this was a veggie pizza. Loaded with toppings, and delicious. Haven't tried anything else yet, but just this one style pizza will have me returning. read more

We have ordered from Spatolas many many times over their years in our neighborhood. The previous reviews with regard to online ordering, delays and food quality are for the most part correct. It is my hope that the owners will read and fix these problems. This could be a great local spot if they were motivated to improve these key things. Great service can forgive an off night if your pizza is soggy. Unfortunately there is much needed room for improvement at the service level too. Our last three orders have resulted in extreme delays and what I will call pizza soup. Each time, I arrived only to see what appeared to be my order just going in the oven upon my arrival. Ok, they're a little behind, again, I tell myself but this will surely result in a very fresh, hot, crispy crust pizza and I wait. After all I have already paid online anyway. I have a very short drive home, as I said they are in my neighborhood. Sadly the pizza was basically liquified. When you pick up a slice the entire middle folds down and the toppings and sauce slide right off. This was not a one off. The past three times we ordered this happened. Knife and fork was a must. This is all really just too bad and totally avoidable. Is it that the crust is too thin or they are heavy handed with the sauce, or maybe the oven is not hot enough. I don't know. What the pizza does have going for it is taste. The sauce is great and the toppings are fresh. You can take a piece out the next day and put it in the oven and its perfection. Downingtown is a good pizza desert, at least at this end of town. Spatolas has many excellent offerings and is so convenient, so I want them to stay in business. Pizza is no doubt a staple item and if they don't get it right I fear they will go out of business. That would be truly sad for a local business that used to produce a really great product. read more

Listen, this place has the best bang for your buck if you're looking for a good Italian meal. The chicken parm was 9 bucks and change and it came pasta, salad, and bread. Don't order from Spatola's. A few weeks back, we ordered a cheesesteak pizza (said it 3 times the pizza not a sandwich) and I had a friend pick up the order. When she brought it over, I realized that they gave us a steak, not a cheesesteak pizza. Not only was it the wrong order, but it didn't even have cheese on it. It was the equivalent of eating a cafeteria steak sandwich. I spoke to a manager and he said he couldn't refund the money, but said he would credit our account. When I got there, they didn't have my order and the guy behind the counter tried multiple ways to make it seem like I'm the one who screwed up. No apology. They just let me walk out, without my pizza. No offer to make one up quickly or anything. I went to Whole Foods and got a pizza in 15 minutes. The service was very bad but the pizza was good. Placed an order for delivery at 5:30pm. (For one large pie) an hour later, nobody has shown up... I call... they said they messed up and had the order as a pickup not delivery. 30 minutes later.... still nobody shows up. I call again...owner gets on phone... no apology ... no offer for a free pie or anything to make up for the mixup ...nothing... she just said she's going to call the driver. 10 minutes later the pizza finally arrives. No call back from anyone to apologize. If you at least offered something for your mistake... that would have at least been good business and I would post a better review. Really bad service. Okay, so let me start out with a little bit of a history lesson for everybody. This place I know of quite well because the original "parent" shop is in Doylestown PA and they decided to open a another branch out here in Chester County. My family and I have lived out here for fifteen years and when we heard this place was coming, I was excited! This place is really good, every chance I can I try to eat here which is pretty rare for me personally because I work in Thorndale so getting here is pretty difficult but I try when I can. But I'll purposely go out of my way to go here rather then go to any of the other places around my area. The food is amazing, I love their pizza and their cheesesteaks are super! The place on the inside looks amazing! Now I've seen complaints about this place with not delivering? (Honestly, unless you go to Pizza Hut or Domino's, not too many pizza places deliver anymore), so I can't really knock them for that, only thing I will scratch my head on which was said in a earlier review that there is hardly any business or at least people sitting down and eating in the place, I mean it is in a prime location with the turnpike literally a couple of miles away on one side and the bypass Lionville exit on the other side and there are a ton of cars and other businesses (Dunkin Donuts, Baskin Robins and one other that slips my mind) right across the street. But I give this place a ton of praise I highly recommend it and I hope they stay around for a long time to come! read more

We have been regular customers when we want to order out. The last several orders were wrong in some way, but we never called. Our order previous to tonight we did call, the apologized and made it right. Tonight, however, I was chastised and accused of lying, though I pointed out the very clear order on the receipt. I was told they'd do it correctly. They did not. Called them back, accused of lying. When the correct order finally arrived, we picked up the burger, it literally broke in half and fell out of the bun, which was FROZEN on the bottom. We will never again order spatolas, and our review will also go to Facebook and travel advisor. The lack of customer service tonight was deplorable. read more
