The lounge was alluring with tranquil music, oversized seating, and blankets, should you need covering. There's a women's and men's retreat for you to relax or unwind while you wait for your appointment to start. My treatment was rejuvenating...relaxing, calming, and almost hypnotizing. Haven, my esthetician, worked miracles on my face. I was more than pleased. After my facial, my skin felt moisturized, refreshed, and totally chill. We came here for a couples massage recently. The facility is super nice and relaxing, including a little zen lounge area with dim lights and a fake fireplace for men and women (separately). They give you a locker to place your belongings, have you change into a thick plush robe, and then you hang out in the lounge until your appointment -- so make sure you come early so there's no rush. The massage itself was wonderful and specifically geared toward exactly what I had asked for. They allow you to choose the music that's playing in the room, whether the masseuse makes conversation, what scent oils they use, etc etc. It's all very personalized and feels luxurious. I used to frequent this spa for facials years ago, so I was excited to bring my boyfriend here for a couple's massage on Saturday. First off, they texted me two days in advance and asked to move our appointment. Annoying but not a big deal, I agreed. But what was annoying was that I didn't know if this was a bot or person via text (a person, I found out) and I find it unprofessional to not get called. Plus, I did not receive any emails or texts confirming that my appointment had been moved. It's just simple appointment/bookkeeping etiquette. I can see from other reviews this is a recurring problem. Don't book appointments if you can't, or hire staff that doesn't call out apparently all the time. No one told us to arrive ay any specific time, or say to come early for paperwork. SO when we walked in at 3:52 for our 4 pm, the receptionist said we didn't have time for paperwork and to go back. I like their locker system and changing rooms where you can put on a big robe and sandals- except almost every locker had a broken lock. In both the women's and the mens room. And the poor front desk girl was trying to man the desk, the phone, and had to keep running back to unlock people's lockers that wouldn't work. If you have paperwork and a nice little pre-lounge area to relax in, tell us to come early. We had a female and male masseuse and here is where things really fell apart. We (my boyfriend and I) are each getting a 60 minute massage. You would expect consistency in that experience. But no. Things I got that my boyfriend didn't: Warm towels on my back, and each foot, a foot massage on both feet, a scalp massage, AND before we got in to the beds she asked me about problem areas, and pressure levels. He got NONE of that. His masseuse did not ask him about pressure, areas of concerns, injuries, nothing. I don't know if maybe that would have been covered on the paperwork we didn't get to do, but I still got asked. And his feet were just totally skipped!! Meanwhile mine got rubbed down with hot towels! Overall, my massage was average at best. She wasted so much time sort of just poking around my head for the "scalp massage", and there was just a lack of flow and ease. She was loud moving around, the massage felt disjointed as she moved from one area to another, and I don't think she really worked at the areas I specifically pointed out. Plus, when trying to check out, it took 10 minutes because the front desk worker had to keep running to the back to help people open lockers (which also required people in robes to step into the lobby to get her, which is uncomfortable for them). Received a gift card for Spavia on Burnet for my birthday and decided to get a few wax services and an 80 minute massage. Due to the reviews about mix-ups with scheduling, I called to make sure everything was confirmed and Amy from the front desk was amazing. Very polite, patient and helpful. When I arrived, I was immediately greeted and shown to the ladies area where there is a dressing room, shower, restroom and locker for each guest. I was provided with a very comfortable robe and sandals which I changed in to and then went to the waiting area. They have multiple hot tea options, water and warm lavender neck pillows. The whole vibe was very calm and relaxing and facilities clean. My esthetician, Shannon, made me feel comfortable during my face, brow and brazilian wax. She took her time and was very attentive. TLDR: I waited over 2 hours for an appointment, was given at least 4 different excuse and in the end, was told they couldn't fit me in at all. I was charged for the appointment and had to reschedule for a different day. -- I booked a couples massage for my husband's birthday. We came in early, waited for the front desk to serve other couples, and then once checked in waited another 30 minutes only for the front desk to tell us that they had a 'no show' and wouldn't be able to do a couple's massage, but needed to do it back-to-back. So I'd have to wait another hour, and then my husband would need to wait an hour after me. After some back and forth with the front desk, she said -- oh actually the masseuse had the wrong time and we have someone coming in 20 minutes. With that, after another 40 minute wait, I asked the front desk, what the deal was and she said she'd get back to me. After another 20 minutes and a whole set of 5 ADDITIONAL people coming in, and who all got pulled back by their masseuse, the front desk, said that the masseuse who came in, actually, got claimed by class pass and so she couldn't fit me in at ALL during the day. Honestly, it was such a mess and the excuses changed every time I went to visit the front desk that I feel like I was being lied to and taking the hit for the mess of scheduling that was happening up front. I spent over two hours waiting for NOTHING, no service, anything! and she couldn't even offer me a refund because I bought a package off of Groupon. We drove from South Austin which was already the longest drive to get to Spavia. Had my first experience here a few months ago because I was really struggling with a lot of neck and shoulder pain that I needed worked out. I will say to start that they have a very nice environment for a day spa with lounges for both men and women for relaxing while your waiting. There are nice, well-kept amenities in the locker rooms and lounge. However, the thing I really came for was pretty underwhelming. The massage was for the full time, which I appreciated since a lot of places will sometimes cut the massage short in the time you are checking in and out. I don't feel like she hit the right places that I needed and some parts of the massage were just plain painful. I actually felt a lot worse the few days following the massage than I did before I went to get it which sucked. I'm sure many people have had good experiences here and it works well for some, but it really didn't do it for me. I purchased a 60-minute couples massage on Groupon as a birthday gift for my fiancé. The Groupon instructed me to call Spavia to book the appointment. I left messages on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday with no response. At this point, I was getting concerned. After searching online, I found the corporate website and submitted a "contact us" request. Within 30 minutes, I finally received a call back--likely because corporate intervened. A week or two later, on the day of our appointment, we arrived at Spavia. We were greeted promptly, but as the front desk attendant escorted us to the men's and women's relaxation/changing rooms, she rushed through the instructions, making them difficult to understand. It didn't feel very professional. After about 15 minutes, we were taken to the massage room. Our appointment was scheduled from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. I noticed it was 1:08 PM when I lay on the table, so I expected the massage to end around 2:08 PM since we were on time--actually a bit early--for our appointment. The massage itself was decent, but nothing extraordinary. When the masseuses finished, I checked the time and saw that it was only 1:50 PM. I was disappointed that we didn't receive the full 60 minutes we paid for. After the massage, the masseuse offered us water or hot tea. I requested hot tea and even specified which type I wanted. However, when we left the room, she handed me water instead. Already frustrated, I didn't bother asking for the tea again. As we left, my fiancé and I discussed our experiences, and he mentioned that he received multiple hot towels during his massage. I didn't receive any, and I would have appreciated them. I love massages and decided to treat myself to a Groupon experience. I settled on Spavia because it was a great deal and it was relatively in my area. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the friendly receptionist who was super sweet. I filled out some paper work and then she took me on a tour of the facility and got me a locker set up with robe and slippers. The waiting area and locker room are both very clean and nicely decorated. There are lockers for you to keep your stuff safe. The waiting lounge is dark and has heated towels as well as tea and essential oils. I had a minute or so to hang in the waiting area before my masseuse Bree came and got me. If I had more time that day I probably would have stuck around enjoyed the room but I had to leave after my appointment. So the masseuse came and got me and brought me to the room. She explained how I would need to position myself for the massage to begin and then she left me to get situated. She returned a few minutes later, knocked and entered the room and then started the massage. The music was nice and relaxing that played throughout. Bree was great about explaining certain movements to me and always made sure to check in that I wasn't uncomfortable or that she wasn't hurting me. She helped me get so many knots out and helped to break down some of the tension I have from weight lifting. The hour flew by like it always does but I left feeling so much lighter and relaxed. I think this place can be a good experience depending on the staff the day on your visit. I came here not too long again and my experience wasn't great. So I'll say that the owner is pretty good about responding if you have concerns. I just want to share my experience with you so maybe you know what to expect. I had Jen as my receptionist of the day and before I even came into the office, she contacted me 3 TIMES on moving my schedule up. One time, I was driving and told her that I couldn't talk and she continued to talk about wanting me to move up. I'm busy, I can't move my schedule. And honestly, I don't owe her an explanation. No means no. I think she was just trying to get off early. She is probably nice in general but lack a lot of self awareness. Also very pushy with tipping. If you are pushy, then I won't do it. It's very tacky to solicit tips. Customers will tip if they like the overall service, when you keep on asking about it- it makes us very uncomfortable. I think if you have the right staff on the right day, it probably won't be bad because the other receptionist, Lauren was very sweet. The lashes were fabulous -- very well done and long lasting. In both my initial application and fill, the technicians took their time and were very cheerful and sweet. One even noted my birthday was coming up on my intake form and wished me a happy birthday as I left. The facial was pretty good, but I think I might have had a newer technician. She dropped some items, forgot certain procedures and her extractions were painful and a bit overzealous. But I think she was trying her best -- could have been an off day. After she forgot to remove the warm towels from my feet (and then came into the room unannounced as I was getting up from the table), she immediately removed the upcharge for the foot treatment. I was confused about which items are upcharges. I will have to investigate further before I return. But overall, I love the concept.
