Booked a standard custom facial with Barbara and Viva. Super tiny cozy little shop. Didn't realize quite how small until I got there! I prefer the downtown location I think with the mediation room with tea and ice water and calming music, so that you can relax for a moment - didn't seem like this was an option here due to the size. The main room felt very crammed when trying to go in and out there were manicures going on in the same area as the one facial room and one massage room. Just felt a bit chaotic for a spa. My facial was good, my skin felt great for a day or two following nothing too special. My only complaint is that I was charged twice, once for a peel which was not mentioned that there would be a charge for, and even an additional charge for a "misc item", still yet to be explained. Felt like I heavily overpaid for the service and don't think it was worth the price personally. And felt like there wasn't much transparency about pricing, more so like I was being sold on certain things that made the experience less than relaxing. I was given a $100 gift card in 2019 to Viva Day Spa. Then COVID hit! I finally got to use it and booked the Head Trip Package with Kari at the 35th St. location. I was able to book easily online and there are 3 locations from which to choose. I advise anyone looking to book a package to book early. It was a bit challenging to find an opening on the weekend at all the locations. I found a 4:15 on a Friday so took it. The 35th location is small and in a really busy area. It was very nice inside. Kari was awesome and I left feeling so relaxed. The Head Trip package advertised: 60 Minute Intensive Upper Body Massage Hot Herbal Steam Towel Treatment Express Reflexology for Hands & Feet (specifically for headache relief) Viva Magic Mint Scalp & Cranial Massage Served with Peppermint Tea & Chocolates I was offered a choice of 4 teas when the treatment was over but no chocolates. The package was a bit pricey: $185. If I didn't have the $100 gift card, I probably would not have visited this place but with the gift card, it was well worth the indulgence. read more

Viva has a strict 24-hour cancellation policy, which is fair enough to protect workers' time. But I wish they extended the same (or some) courtesy to their clients. I was called *10 minutes* before an appointment and told that the manicurist was ill and couldn't come to work. Perhaps the employee let the spa know she was ill 10 minutes before my appointment, but that seemed unlikely. The receptionist sounded really chill, no sense of urgency or that an emergency had come up. I told her that I was already in the car driving there of course. She said something silly like "Yes, that's why I wanted to call you as soon as possible." Um. Hardly. Where else would I be with such short notice but almost there? She said she could *try* to book me at another location but, at that point, I told her I was just going to turn my car around and go home. So much for a nice treat on the weekend! I encourage Viva to respect their clients' time. If something like this happens, please make it right, rather than directing clients, while they're driving, to go somewhere else! This review is overdue but, as I continue to look for a new salon, this inconvenience still irks me and I see that I'm not the only person who has experienced it. TLDR: Spendy, but oh so worth it due to their attention to the smallest details. I was fortunate to have the Delicious Spa package (and tip!) gifted to me, which was 2h:15m of services for $315 (not including tip), with the fantastic Sarah Kate. DETAILS: I chose 35th Street because I don't care for parking at the Domain, but next time I might try the new location in Round Rock. Their back parking lot is very tight so maybe don't bring your biggest vehicle. The receptionist said there's almost always open spaces in the lot. But if not, I think street parking also would've been available and nearby. If looking for a package, do book in advance. I called about 4 weeks prior, there were 2 openings on my preferred day. Now the small things which took my experience from good to really great: Viva has that organic, botanical smell of high end spas and hotels. They were very helpful and pleasant on the phone. They also emailed the massage intake form, to complete digitally instead of by hand, and it also meant once I arrived at the salon, it was nothing but relaxation. Their lounge is cute (pic attached), with super comfy couches and self-service cucumber water, trail mix, and mints. My package was supposed to include hot spiced chai, which wasn't offered, but that's the only negative thing I can say. Sarah started by explaining which services I would receive and in what order. My package included 8 treatments and I added 1 more, but no part of my brain was trying to remember the many things I was supposed to get and mentally checking them off. If your technician is articulating them in advance, that's reassurance nothing will be overlooked, so you can just relax and enjoy. Sarah also reviewed my intake form and answered some questions. Throughout our time, Sarah checked in often on pressure level, my body temp, the head rest angle, etc. I'm not shy about requesting adjustments, but a lot of people are timid about speaking up so her frequent check ins open the door for those folks. They provide spa wraps with snap closures, so no wrestling it over your head or fumbling with buttons, and fit is adjustable. Very cushioned rubber slides for your feet; no thin flip flops here, with that uncomfortable strap between the toes. There are also *two* robes available, one in traditional lightweight cotton waffle weave, and another in thicker velour-ish material. I started with 20-25 mins in a small, private sauna closet. Sarah stocked me up with heavily iced water, magazines, and towels. After about 10 mins, she checked in, which was perfect because I did request another towel, so I had a pillow for the rest of my sauna time. 5 mins before the end, she brought an icy, almost frozen, peppermint hand towel, which was heavenly and really helped me through the last stretch. I also noticed she turned my sandals around, so when I exited the sauna I could just slip my feet right in. It's the little things! Also, their towels are *maroon*. I have all-white linens and bath towels at *home* because it looks so chic, but white towels at the *spa* would've made me hesitate to wipe my sweaty, made-up face so I appreciated this. After the sauna, I was given a moment of privacy and another ice cold, peppermint hand towel and a dry bath towel to cool off before lying down. Next came the dry brush exfoliation, with Sarah dividing my full body into 7 sections. After brushing each area, she got a fresh towel from the cabinet so it was steaming hot each time. During the 75-min massage, she really worked out my knots and while she was massaging my lower half, she left the hot stones on my back. I thought this was a smart way to maximize the stones, instead of just bringing them out briefly like most salons/LMTs do. Similarly, after she applied the cocoa butter gloves, she left them on my hands while massaging my lower half, to increase the hydration time. We also did the Foot Reflexology $15 add-on, foot and calf sugar scrub, followed by relaxing with the body wrap for a bit, before finishing with a scalp massage. A few times throughout, she asked me to take a deep breath so she could hit me with some aromatherapy right under my nose. I normally dislike mint, I'm more of a citrus girl, but their application was subtle and just perfect. I was sent home with chocolates and the dry brush, which is, again, a smart use of resources. They can't re-purpose those anyway, so might as well gift it to the customer as a nice bonus. I gave myself 30 mins to relax in the lounge, then my treatments lasted for 2.5 hours, so I was there for 3 hours total and it felt like half the day. This was a wonderful package because of the sauna + variety of exfoliation + total body massage + moisturizing hand treatment. It hit all the things most of my spa visits leaving me wishing for. I don't do med spa services but it's nice they offer those too. On the pricier side, but they make it worth every penny, and Sarah Kate was phenomenal. Highly recommend! read more

Viva Day Spa has become my go to spa for massages. My husband and I love getting massages, doing it as often as we can. Last week I called with two day notice. I got exceptional customer service when I called, the wonderful women who helped me book was extremely patient as I asked several questions, was a little picky with the services I chose as well as our preferences but she was able to accommodate most requests while I was able to compromise on the one that wasn't a deal breaker for my husband and myself. While I was a little timid and do not normally like male therapists, I will say I got the best massage ever from Travis. I can not wait for our next appointment. read more

My husband booked the delicious duet couples spa package at the Viva Day Spa for my birthday. At 550 dollars, my expectations were fairly high. Unfortunately, the experience was a far cry from the relaxing spa treatment that I was hoping for. My spouse and I try to book a massage at least once a month. We keep that regimine as a steady investment in our own physical wellness. That being said, we are no stranger to a variety of techniques and therapists. However, my therapist left me bruised for days after my visit. I had to ask her multiple times to adjust her pressure throughout the massage. There were several times that I asked her to skip areas because I was afraid of how much it would hurt. Her thumbs bruised the sides of my head, my chest, back, arms, etc. Now, I've been worked on by aggressive therapists before. In some cases, it's necessary to work a little harder to get a knot out. I completely understand that. But rest assured, there were no knots that needed tending to on the sides of my head. My arms did not carry unresolved tension that required that degree of force. I couldn't even tolerate her massage on my thighs because I was certain that those bruises would show. I didn't want to restrict my birthday girl weekend to a pants only attire. I appreciate a therapist that can adjust pressure. I love working out knots, but this experience just wasn't it. There is no reason for me to be tender to the touch days after my visit. I am going to leave her name out because she was sweet. I don't think she intended to cause harm, but if a client is asking repeatedly for adjustments throughout the massage, that should be a signal that something is amiss. If areas of the body are being asked to just be skipped over...that is a pretty big red flag in itself. My favorite massages? Are the ones that nearly put me to sleep. I want a massage that I can just relax and breathe through. I shouldn't have to be on hyper alert and ready to request accommodations. It was an awful experience. In addition, the package that we purchased mentioned a body wrap. Now, we have both had body wraps before, and this was NOT a body wrap. Typically, a body wrap is the process in which a mineral-rich formula or oils are applied to the body. Once applied, you are wrapped up with plastic film or mylar bandages. (Feel free to check this definition as it is easily found online) The wraps that we have had in the past have all met this criteria. However, this "wrap" was absolutely laughable. The therapist rubbed lotion on us and pulled the blanket up along with what looked like a weighted sleeping bag. There was no real "body wrap" included in this package. Personally, I don't think it's fair to misrepresent a treatment. If you don't want to offer a body wrap, then don't offer it. Ultimately, this experience was physically painful and severely overpriced for the quality of services offered. The staff is very pleasant, but a courteous demeanor is not a sufficient substitution for a genuine spa treatment. read more

I had the most special spa experience today! I was finally able to utilize a gift card for several services that a friend had given to me after the loss of my son. Travis gave an amazing, relaxing, thorough prenatal massage, and he was the perfect person to ease me through some deep breaths when I got a little emotional about the whole experience. He was so gentle and kind and his sensitive nature was beyond appreciated. Bailey gave the perfect facial and hand treatment/massage (I almost fell asleep I was so relaxed!) and Alex gave a beautiful mani/pedi and was so friendly and easy to chat with. I felt beyond pampered and spoiled and the 35th street location was the perfect, intimate setting to ease back into human contact post-pandemic, ha! When I went to check out, it appeared I actually got many more services than my gift card was meant for, but the receptionists generously said it was no problem. I've been coming to Viva for nearly five years. I am so happy to be back post-vaccination! I felt safe coming back because Viva has been diligent in its cleaning protocols (and as someone who had not left my home to go to even a grocery store since March 2020, this was my top priority). The warm, calming spa is a cozy space that always feels clean and comfortable, and they've added air purifiers to go the extra mile. I've had a pedicure at Viva once that was quite good, but I'm a regular massage client. I try to get in to see Kari B. every two to three weeks. She is a superb masseuse. She's extremely professional and her goal is to ensure you receive the type of massage therapy you need at the time. She checks in with you to ensure pressure is okay, that the room temp works for you, and just in general on your comfort. She obviously cares about her work, and she meets you where you are to make sure you have an optimal experience. She has a very calming presence which lends itself perfectly to massage. I also like that Viva offers a massage package plan, which allows you to buy six massages for the price of five. Online booking is convenient, and the spa is easy to access with parking on-site. The receptionists are always friendly and pleasant. Viva offers a nice selection of skin, body, and aromatherapy products as well. We chatted about my skincare goals and she gave me advice that was covered under Viva's services, but also those that extended beyond their network. Made me feel that she was looking out for me. In times like this it's rewarding to treat myself. I took some time to do such, I got a massage, facial and my nails done and God it was so worth it! As soon as I entered the building there was a hand sanitization station, next there was 4 COVID19 question the front desk staff asked and took my temperature. I was carried back into the relaxing room (what a blessing), I was offered water or white wine ( of course I took the wine). My massage therapist Amy B. was wonderful, I was so relaxed and stress relief - I caught myself snoring a couple of times! She also massage behind my ear - I see why my pup love it! My facial with Sarah M. was to die for! I loved when she wrapped my face in a chilled cloth then used a jade roller and massage my face! My face feels like new! Last but and not least my pedicure with Rachel ! I normally see Rubey, but she was not in. My pedicure is amazing, 2 weeks later and it still looks perfect! I am so happy I have to nail person!! I am so happy I took the time out to reward myself! It was a wonderful experience and treat. The place was extremely clean- I saw the front desk cleaning that place about 4 times when I was there, once when I walked in, heading to my facial and 2 times during my nail service! This place is run like amateur hour. They have a very strict 24hr cancelation policy but then will cancel on you a few hours before your appointment! I had a massage followed by a facial booked for today and they called to let me know the massage needed to be canceled on a voicemail. When I tried to call back it took 3 attempts to actually talk to someone because it kept getting answered by what sounded like someone's pocket. When I finally reached someone she asked me to relay what the voicemail said because she wasn't sure about the details of my appointment...... what? This is not making me feel confident at all then she offers me a 30 min massage after my facial. I have seen other reviews talk about them offering a 30 min massage when they mess up appointments and I am just confused because the shortest massage time they offer is 45 so are they trying to scam people into paying the same for 15 min less? Either way there is no way I am going to get a facial and then go directly face down for a massage so I wasn't going to take it. I asked if they do anything for cancelling my apt a few hours before as I took off work and would have been charged if it was a reverse situation and it's a no and I got the over all impression they don't even care ha. This just all feels like a poorly run operation for a place that likes to think they are a luxury spa and charge some of the highest prices in town. I totally understand things happen but it's the way they handle these situations that make me lose trust. This is my second negative experience with them and scheduling that I think they last straw. Every time I have gone I have had a great experience with the actual facials and massages but how the business is run is pretty off putting and I think there are better places around town. read more
