I highly recommend if you are not already treating yourself to the occasional massage to do so now and at Milk & Honey! Prior to your massage you are given some time to enter the locker room and leave your belongings in your locker and change into your robe. You have access to the showers, toiletries and hair styling tools. Once you step out of the locker room you enter a dim lit lounge where they have light snacks and the most delicious tea while you wait to be called for your appointment. I decided to go with a lengthy 120 minute Ultimate Massage with Katie since it had been quite a while since I've had one. This included a full-body brushing (you get to keep the brush afterwards), your choice of Signature, Deep Tissue or Sports massage and a warm oil scalp & neck massage. Prior to your visit you fill out a survey to decipher how you would like your massage to focus on. I prefer a firmer massage, but not too intense that it's not enjoyable. Katie was understanding of what I wanted and also receptive to how tense some of my muscles were and adjusted as the massage proceeded. I appreciated how she answered any questions I had during the massage and checked on me periodically to make sure everything was to my liking. The massage was fabulous. Just keep in mind that the oil scalp and neck massage while it feels amazing is going to leave your hair super oily. Be prepared to shower and rinse your hair several times. After my appointment I relaxed in the lounge for a bit and then utilized the showers to rinse out the oil in my hair. You are welcome to stay as long as you like. Going into this, we were genuinely excited. This was for a bachelorette party, and we had been looking forward to relaxing and celebrating together. Unfortunately, the experience with Milk + Honey was incredibly disappointing from the start. The booking service that coordinated our appointments made an error with our timing. By the time we arrived, the Milk + Honey staff said they couldn't accommodate us. While I understand scheduling constraints, what was frustrating was the complete lack of effort to help. There were no alternative solutions offered, no attempt to adjust services, and the response we received felt dismissive, essentially "well, you didn't make it on time," despite the situation being out of our control. As a result, 2 out of our group of 6 had to leave without services, and we were still charged a no-show fee, which is 50% of the service cost. To their credit, the booking company acknowledged their mistake and worked to make it right. They helped us rebook at 50% off and added complimentary services, which we appreciated. However, because of the no-show fee, we essentially still ended up paying full price overall. The issues didn't stop there. At checkout, we added a 20% gratuity, but it was calculated on the full service price plus the added treatments, not the discounted rate we were actually paying. This resulted in what effectively felt like closer to a 50% gratuity. Again, this is less about tipping itself and more about transparency and principle. To make matters worse, we were not given a receipt at checkout and had to call afterward to request an itemized breakdown just to understand what we were charged. Overall, the experience felt disorganized and, more importantly, like our best interests were not a priority at any point. I'm a teacher and went here for the signature escape package and was so excited to have a me day and relax before school starts, but had a hard time relaxing. My massage I needed was firm and didn't get a lot of for my body to truly feel it. The guy was supper sweet but would be less firm as I continued getting my massage. My facial was amazing, the lady I got was supper sweet. Once I got to my mani/pedi the girl, who shared she had a couple months that had started there, just felt very rushed and the energy she gave was as if she didn't want to be there or had somewhere to be. She ended up disrupting the point of my day, which was to slow down. Worst of all my mani didn't even last a week. There's a quiet waiting area stocked with snacks like nuts and dried fruit, plus hot teas. You can relax there before and after your appointment, which is a really nice touch. I booked a 60-minute massage, and my therapist was great--very considerate, asked about any areas to avoid or focus on, and adjusted accordingly. I told her my quads were my biggest concern after the race, and she really worked through the tension. She even pointed out that my shoulders and right quad were tighter than my left, which was interesting since I actually felt more pain on the left side. I've been coming to this spa for brow/lip waxes , pedis, and occasional manis for ten years and love it! It doesn't have any of the smells of typical nail salons. Everything is very natural and healthy and they also have different wax types which makes waxing less painful. I've been going to Milk and Honey for years, but they have really gone down in quality and I will no longer book services here. I went in for a sports massage and the massage I got was barely a Swedish massage. It was probably the worst massage I've ever had. I think they just don't have the adequately trained staff. My therapist was nice enough, but she truly just did not understand what a sports massage was. It was a complete waste of time and a significant expense and I couldn't wait to get off the table and get out of there. They also have changed up their amenities for the worse -- for example - their new spa shoes are so cheap. They are impossible to walk in and they actually hurt (they cut into your feet) and are super flimsy where you feel like you're going to slip out of them with every step. also, nobody actually asked me how my service was. I would have preferred to have given feedback directly to them rather than on a public forum, but, nobody asked me. which, to me is further indication of a lack of quality -- probably also how they are not training for their people. I had booked a blowout here for a special occasion, it would be my very first time into milk and honey and I was genuinely excited. I had mentioned I was bringing in two small clip in extensions for the side of my head to add some hair by my face. I was very clear that these were two small clips. After booking I emailed to confirm cost and then at that time they let me know the "installation" of them would be an additional $100. I'm glad I asked because I wasn't told this the 2 times we spoke on the phone, texted or emailed. The blowout itself is $80 so a $100 up charge was a little ridiculous. It seemed silly and disheartening as they are very small and take me maybe 30 seconds to clip in. As this is my first impression, I was pretty disappointed and decided to cancel. I was gifted a gift certificate to milk & honey and was excited to try for my first time! First off, they validate parking in nearby garages, which is much appreciated since parking downtown can be a hassle. I tried two services with my gift card: * Pedicure: I do not recommend getting a pedicure here, it was not worth it. I did a regular pedicure which was $100 of my gift card. It was the most expensive pedicure I've had and I didn't get half of the services you'd expect at a typical salon. No exfoliation of the bottom of my feet, just hid dry areas with slathered on lotion/oil. Also no use of cuticle scissors to trim where it was clearly needed. I asked for cuticle scissors to be used in a particular spot and the technician used a nail file instead... which didn't do anything.. The technician also used a nail buffer directly on my cuticle, which caused a cut, and then I couldn't place my foot in the water for the duration of the service, which was a bummer. The polish job itself was okay, not overly bad, but again just not worth $100. I'm pretty sure the nail color I selected was not used either... the bottle was low on color and the technician left and returned with a color that was similar, but definitely not what I selected. I would have rather been told, I would have selected something else. * Massage: Massages are not usually my thing, but being in my third trimester, weeks away from delivering, I gave a prenatal massage a try. And wow, was it worth it! I should have done two prenatal massages and avoided the pedicure altogether. Everything from arrival to check out was perfect, all of the comfort and self-care I was looking to indulge in. I wish I wouldn't have waited until so late in my third trimester to treat myself to a massage. All in all, an average experience. I would never go back for a pedicure, but for a massage? I know I have split ends and my hair is not the healthiest but I have been trying to grow out my hair for years and each time I go to a salon they chop it all offf because "it is unhealthy." Kara probably wanted to chop it off but instead she honored my wants and ensured to keep the length while trimming the ends of my hair. I will definitely be going back with her for all my haircuts and I trust her with my hair more than anyone in Austin. Extremely Disappointed with Color Service at Milk + Honey Downtown Austin I'm writing this review with deep disappointment after a very unfortunate experience at Milk + Honey Downtown Austin. I was excited to book with Leah, who had great reviews and was described as an expert in blonding. I have a natural red tint to my hair, which I made very clear to Leah during our consultation. I specifically told her that if my hair couldn't lift to blonde, I didn't want to proceed with the color. She confidently reassured me, "We will get you blonde." Fast forward to the end of the service--I was shocked to see my hair was brown. Not blonde, not even a hint of the brightness I was hoping for. Nothing like my reference photo. I had a pit in my stomach, but out of sheer embarrassment and disbelief, I paid and left. What made this worse was the outrageous $400 price tag. For context, I typically pay around $250 for partial highlights. I walked out feeling devastated. Within two weeks, the color faded even further into a dull brownish-red. I finally called on day 16 hoping to resolve the issue. The general manager Alex who told me their policy only allows for adjustments within 14 days--so I was two days too late. She also informed me that Leah told her I said "I don't know how my hair got red," which is absurd. Red is my natural tone and I emphasized that multiple times. Disappointing to see the stylist wasn't honest about what was discussed. The manager, Alex, repeatedly pointed to their two-week policy and even implied the color could've changed because of something I did--like swimming or other unknown factors--which felt like an attempt to shift the blame. I also provided Alex with the reference photo I had shown Leah, and it looked nothing like the final result. They offered me a $50 credit toward a future service, but frankly, I have no desire to return after being charged $400 for such a poor result and a lack of accountability. If you're looking to go blonde and want a stylist who truly understands how to work with natural red tones--this is not the place. Leah is not a blond expert if she can't hide the red tones. I had high expectations based on the reviews, but this was one of the most disappointing salon experiences I've ever had. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere--at least somewhere that stands behind their work. This point system is probably a dangerous motivator to get me to spend more money here. But hey, all the facials, massages, hair services have all been worth it. You know what else is worth it? The dressing and waiting rooms. The robes and sandals provided make me feel like I'm in a Jennifer Lopez rom-com and the ambiance of the waiting room is heaven on earth. Giving 1 star, because I was coming in here with excitement for my birthday celebration couple massage and left leaving without 3 items of sentimental value that my mother gave me. I would recommend leaving anything of value at home when coming in, so you won't have to face the same thing. My boyfriend gifted me a couple massage for my birthday. We arrived at 12/9. My boyfriend's back pain went away which was fantastic! I felt glowing and my senses were open. The areas I request special attention to were not really much better, so I felt a tad disappointed. I left the salon and realized that I left jewelry my mother gave me which holds sentimental value, 2 necklaces and a bracelet. When we called the salon it couldn't be found which means that it is reported "LOST" from 5:30pm to 8:30pm 12/9. I came back today to see if I could find them this morning 12/10 because I knew exactly where I left them, in the locker on the lower left side, but hey were not there.
