Very unfortunate experience for my husband. I'm grateful that I did not have the same experience when we visited this Spavia. Due to the nature of what happened at Spavia in Strongsville, Ohio, my husband does not wish to revisit the details and asked that I write this review on his behalf. At first, the owners/managers of this establishment seemed genuinely concerned. They even asked that he send his experience to them in writing, since he was too upset to express it in person at the time. We were hopeful and did so--almost a month ago--but to date, we've received no reply from them. Regarding, his experience. We had hoped to write an updated, more positive review based on their stated desire to "make it right." Sadly, we cannot. Below is the review sent to the owners/managers about a month ago. Please read on and judge for yourselves. My husband and I had our first visit to Spavia last month in Dublin, Ohio, where he received an outstanding salt stone massage. Since we live in Cleveland, he was looking forward to having a similar experience at the Spavia in Strongsville. Unfortunately, this visit was the complete opposite -- truly awful for him. Based on his provider, Ashley's reviews, it's clear his experience with her, wasn't due to her lack of skill or knowledge, but rather her lack of enthusiasm and unwillingness to perform the service with care. Making his 60 minutes session grueling and very uncomfortable. Far below Spavia's standards. From an excessively long and overly oily scalp effleurage "rub." It could hardly be called a scalp "massage." To the poor use of the stones, it was absolutely apparent that Ashley performed the "whole" service begrudgingly. After spending over $200, including tip, my husband left feeling stressed instead of relaxed. Maybe she was having an off day, but for an establishment like Spavia -- especially at this price point -- the service was totally uncomfortable & unacceptable. To say the least. I'm writing this review on his behalf, as it was such a disappointing and demeaning experience that he prefers not to relive it. To their credit, the managers immediately expressed concern and offered to "make things right." Since he was unable to explain his level of disappointment at that time, the managers advised him to write this review. Which we sincerely appreciate. Based on prior reviews I bought a facial and a massage gift certificate for my wife. I thjought when you buy a gift certificate that says "one hour massage" or "50 minute facial" that is what you get. After her visit was over the staff told her the price had gone up so she will have to make up the difference. The gift certificate does not indicate a "dollar value". It indicates a service. No such luck. A decent 1st visit was ruined by lack of management finesse. No ladies from my family will be going there anytime soon. read more

Jessie did a wonderful job with my facial and massage, I highly recommend her. However, I was extremely disappointed to be told upon checkout that the gift certificate my son purchased and gave me for Mother's Day would not be honored for the full value. Due to a death in our family and health reasons I wasn't able to go for several months. My son asked for a gift card when he went in to purchase it and they told him they didn't have cards, and just to print off the receipt when he got home. He was never told the total value would decline, or expire over time. I wasn't told either when I made the appointment and gave the gift receipt information. For this reason I will not be back. From the beginning of calling to check availability to the end of walking out the door, it has been an amazing g experience at this Spa. My boyfriend and I were only in town a few days and luckily Spavia was able to accommodate us. We had the couples 80 minute Swedish Massage, and the experience started before our appointment. They emailed us a questionnaire to get our preferences in pressure, music, drinks and lotion. Very thorough and that added to the comfort and soothing. From the moment you walk in, you feel relaxed as the atmosphere is very calming. We were taken back separately into the Men's and Women's retreat rooms. Both were stocked with water and tea as well as warming neck pads which were scented with essential oil. Each room has its own shower, lockers, restroom and charging room. After changing into a robe and slippers that were provided, you walk out into a common retreat room. Afterwards, our massage therapists met us and escorted us into our private couples massage room and got preferences confirmed on pressure and asked us if there are any trouble areas that we wanted focus on. They exited the room, we disrobed and climbed onto the massage tables. The tables were hydraulic and very soft, dark sheets and blankets and the tables was warmed. It was honestly bliss climbing into that warm bed during this cold winter day! Once the massage started it was just amazing. My tec Sarah, had fluid movements like water with perfect pressure. Her technique and skill was phenomenal and she reminded me of my favorite massage tech back home. She did a wonderful job focusing on my problem areas and I felt very relaxed and soothed when she was done. Afterwards I sat and relaxed some water in the retreat room with my boyfriend, took my shower and took my leave. Exceptional service! I have never had a disappointing experience at Spavia Strongsville. I have been a client for several years now and the services have always been consistent. Mallory provides the most amazing facials. She is professional, skilled, and so very kind. I always leave feeling beautiful. Ashley is an incredibly talented massage therapist. She always asks if there are specific areas that need attention and truly listens to what you tell her. We planned a surprise for my mother and the receptionist confirmed they would not email her with confirmations of the appointment. They did end up emailing her and she was questioning what it was all about, which kind of ruined the surprise. The spa offered to call or email her and tell her they made a mistake, which we said was fine, but at this point it was very confusing for my mom. When we got there, the retreat room did not have enough heated neck towels in it for the four of us. The bathroom was out of hand towels too, we found them on our own. I said I wanted a medium strength massage and i got a very light strength massage. Another member of our party also asaid the massage was too light. During my massage the music stopped about ten minutes before the massage was over, that was weird. Also, I don't know how they timed anything because I was the last one from our party to start my massage and the very first one done. They offered tea and water at the end of my massage and I asked for tea. I got an ice cold cup of water, and then she made me get tea myself. I broke my compact mirror in the dressing room and told the receptionist right away. She said she would sweep it up and then continued to work and didn't get up to see (this is where people walk barefoot sometimes), so it should have had immediate attention. When we went to check out, they said we could pay for my mom dividing her bill onto our three credit cards. Then she said the system would not let her do it and we should "duke it out ourselves". I'd would not recommend Spavia to anyone. I'd rate it lower except that could accommodate all four of us when other spas could not read more

Absolutely Amazing I have only been to a spa a few times and always left feeling "What's so special about a spa?" But my experience at Spavia was completely different. I had a VitalCFacial which also included a hand and arm massage. It was so relaxing, plus my skin felt great even the next day. My esthetician was Sierra and I would definitely recommend her. In fact, all of the staff that I met were very nice. For some people, going to the spa is a monthly occurrence, but for me it is a special treat. This place is PHENOMENAL! I had such a great experience. I was gifted a massage for Valentine's Day via Groupon and was nervous that I might not be treated the same as recurring or full-price customers. Boy, was I wrong! When I arrived, I was greeted by a happy hostess who escorted me to the Women's Retreat area. She showed me where I could get water, tea, as well as heated neck wraps while waiting for my masseuse. She also showed me how to set the code for my locker and where to change into my complimentary bathrobe and sandals. (I used to be a regular at Massage Envy where you change clothes in the massage room and put your clothes in a bin, so I thought this was a nice touch). I was even given a complimentary box of chocolate in honor of Mother's Day. She was extremely courteous and helpful and explained that I could relax in the Women's Retreat area where the masseuse would greet me. After helping myself to a heated neck wrap, Tristina (sp?) came out to greet me. She, too, had a great attitude which just radiates out of her. She then proceeded to work her magic on me and gave me one of the best full body massages I have had to date! I really can't say enough great things about this place! The best experience ever at a spa. The staff was so friendly the second you walk in, guiding me to the retreat area where you change into a complimentary bathrobe and sandals. I sat with a heated neck towel and relaxed until I was taken back. I got an essential signature facial and it was amazing. I found this place on Groupon. I was in town from Los Angeles, CA vising my family for my brothers wedding. I wanted to get a massage for my mom because she has been helping so much with my brothers wedding she was exhausted and mother's day was that Sunday . I ended up buying 3 Groupon deals for 60 minute deep tissue massages. I got one for my mom for mother's day, one for my younger brother since he helped so much with the wedding and one for me. We all went together on 5/12 Saturday at 11:30am. We had separate rooms of course and I wish i knew the names of the massage therapists there. They were incredible. My girl was perfect spent so much time on my back with the right amount of pressure . I am sensitive and massages hurt I usually get sore the next day. She was gentle and if I wanted more pressure on a spot I would just tell her and she was great. The beds were heated which was amazing! The music was so relaxing I even drifted briefly. She worked on my whole body, Back, arms, neck, shoulders, hands, feet, legs, thighs. I would definitely go back and recommend this place to others. I tipped each worker $10 each and wish i had more to give it was so good. It was right next to my mom's house so it was close by and my mom loved it! Thanks again :) read more

Five stars from start to finish. My wife and I booked a couples relaxation massage and we were extremely happy with our experience. We both filled out our preference/check in forms prior to arriving to make it a seamless process. We showed up about 20 minutes early and the hostess couldn't have been more warm and inviting. She completed our check in and gave us a quick tour of the changing rooms. Once we were in our robes, my wife and I were able to sit in leather recliners sipping water while wearing hot neck wraps. Shortly after our specialists arrived and we were guided to our private massage room. My specialist, Dom, was amazing. I requested a firm touch and it was definitely firm, bordering on deep tissue which is right up my alley. My wife's specialist Annette asked my wife about any problem areas and customized the massage to her request. We've been to many day spas and this was a first. The service and professionalism went above and beyond and we are currently considering a membership and are already looking for a day next month to return to Spavia. If you're looking for a reasonably priced massage with the highest quality of service then look no further. read more

Spavia is a very nice, clean spa. I enjoyed the ambiance and it was very relaxing. I had my lashes done. They looked okay when I left. I didn't love them, but wasn't completely dissatisfied. I understood that the hybrid lash wasn't available at Spavia yet and that I could only get as many lashes as I actually had. I should have stopped right there, because my goal was volume. I had my lashes applied on a Wednesday and by the following Monday half of them had fallen out. I spent over $200 and was left with something that looked pathetic five days later. I went in to see what they would do for me. They offered to add a couple that day but I didn't have time and I wasn't interested because I knew the result would be the same. They then said that they would give me a free fill if I came back within three days. Again...why would I do that? I asked for half of my money back and they best they could do was give me the "fuller lash" the next time for $20 less. I can't get a fuller lash because they don't do hybrid lashes! So, I booked an appointment with another company that does lashes and offered the hybrid. She had to take off what was left of the lashes from not even a week ago and told me the placement was off. Some of them were going sideways and also said she didn't think there was enough adhesive because they came off so quickly. So...although this is a nice spa, I would not recommend going there for lashes. read more

I had a very important test yesterday and I knew I would need to relax after it so I decided to book a massage. A friend had told me about Spavia and that there was a Groupon so I checked it out. $49 for an 80 minute premier massage! I couldn't pass it up. I called to schedule and they got me an appointment. I ended up having to reschedule for a week sooner and they were very nice on the phone and worked with me on the time I needed. So I get there early, and they have you fill out information on a tablet. They let you choose the music you listen to, what scent of body butter they use, and whether or not you want the massage therapist to talk with you during the service. I thought that was fantastic! The receptionist then showed me into the locker room area where I changed into a robe and sandals. I then went into their relaxation room and utilized the warm neck wraps they provide. They also have various teas to choose from. There was calming music and a diffuser in the room. It was very relaxing. Tracy came to get me to take me back for my massage. She started me face down, which I liked because I always get very congested when I am face down. I always end up leaving a massage all stuffy because of this. However, yesterday was the opposite. When I turned onto my back, I had plenty of time to breath again! Haha, it sounds silly but I really liked that. After the massage, Tracy got me a cup of water and also a sheet of paper telling me some recommendations for stretches and other things to help my problem areas. Overall it was a wonderful experience. The only "complaint" I could have was that there is a fitness place next door and you can hear some of the music playing through the walls. Oh! And I just have one suggestion- it would be even better to have foot rests in the relaxation room! Those two things did not interfere with my 5 star review.
