I originally reached out because my female cat was in heat and I wanted to prevent any accidental mating (especially since my cats are siblings!). At first, I did run into a small communication issue and had to wait a bit for a response. But after following up, Marilyn called me directly, cleared everything up, and got my appointment scheduled quickly. She was super helpful and made me feel reassured throughout the process. One thing I really appreciated was how affordable their additional services were. Along with getting both of my cats spayed/neutered, I was able to add rabies vaccines, their first FVRCP shots, plus flea meds and dewormer all for about $310 total for both cats. Considering a nearby vet quoted me around $500 for just my female cat alone... such big difference! The day of the appointment was smooth and well-organized. I arrived around 6:45 AM, the mobile clinic showed up just before 7, and my pets were checked in by 7:30 AM. The process was quick and straightforward, which I really appreciated since I was anxious because I didn't really know what to expect. For pickup, I was given a window between 10 AM-2 PM and told I'd get a text. I reached out to several TNR services and Spay4LA was the fastest and easiest one to set up with. Everywhere else I contacted either didn't get back to me or had a 2-3 month waitlist. Process was easy. You contact them via email, and then set up appointments through a phone call or text. They are a mobile clinic with different days in different cities/location and you pick the time/location that is convenient for you. They provide instructions on the process, including when to trap/feed/cage information. On the day of, you arrive at around 7:15-7:30 and check in takes about 45 minutes. Come back later in the day to pick up your TNR. For feral cats, my pickup time was around 2-3pm. My feral kitty was quite spunky after the surgery and is actively running around again :) They mostly do low-cost pet (cat/dog) spay/neuter and vet services and do a little TNR as well. read more

Little known fact - every resident of the City of LA can get a voucher for a discount on spaying or neutering your cat or dog. The problem is in the implementation - almost NO vet will take the voucher. So there are programs like Spay-4-LA, which could be a great thing. But the devil is in the details. It's still fairly pricey -- I think I paid like around $185 for my tiny puppy with the voucher. You send an email and then communicate mostly by text. That's generally fine for me, but some important details were left out. For instance, I didn't realize this was a MOBILE operation. The instructions I received were to go to the PetCo in Culver City, send a text message and wait. So I did that. And I waited. And I waited. And I texted again. After an hour sitting in my car, I got out and walked around, only to see this giant mobile Spay-4-LA truck in the back of the parking lot, where I couldn't have seen it from where I was parked. People were already lined up as they apparently seemed to know what to do - and I had no idea. Eventually, after my little magician dog managed to get out of his harness and take off running towards the very busy road, I was too upset and exhausted to continue this messy process so I just requested a full refund. I'm too busy and efficient for a system like this. The appointment setters seem to be really on it, but leave out super important details (look for the TRUCK!) and the on site folks won't respond to messages. Another mentioned their thoroughness and efficiency, it was easy to set up the appointment and they gave through instructions with multiple messages about the day of the surgery and the night before, but I was surprised when I paid a $50 deposit and then they said it was another $150 at the appointment. Overall, it wasn't cheap! But the employees were all very nice, professional, efficient .. my cat is 6 days post surgery and he'd recovery was mostly easy .. except I would say, I gave my cat the medication and she was out of it it may be good to suggest a half dose?? I'm not sure... I also got charged for other things but my cat got her vaccines which she didn't have. The entire service was a little less than $300. read more

God I wish I read the reviews before I took my baby here. Cheese, my 1 year old cat, was spayed in a truck in Huntington park on Saturday. First of all, there's a line for check-in, at 7:15am, that takes about 30min-an hour. After, they let you know to come back "from 12:30-3:30" and that they'll text me. I live an hour away, so I stayed in the area and hoped I would get a text sooner than later. They texted me at 3:15... after I texted them for an update. When I got there, the lady was super nice but tried to hand me the wrong cat. She quickly fixed it and apologized and explained the healing process and gave me only two pain pills. The tattoo marking is way too wide and open, I can't believe they went in that deep. it's supposed to tell people she's been spayed, not be an open wound. The actual incision site was sutured in a way that made it look like a draw string back- sewn super weird and looked easily rippable. Because of this I was super careful, did everything they said; didn't let her move for 2-3 hours when she got home, watched her relentlessly to make sure she wasn't jumping or climbing, never removed her e-collar, gave her the measly two pills for pain both mornings after, etc. Mind you, I paid over $200 for all of her services. 3 days later, the tattoo and incision spot looked a little strange so I texted the emergency number and they shrugged it off and told me to update them in a couple days. It's now been 3 days and the tattoo site is the worst- red, discharge, still looks new. The incision site looks like it has some discharge too. I texted them and their remedial action was to tell me to come in again TOMORROW at 8:45am sharp at a location an hour and a half away from me. Told me it would only take 5-10 minutes. I decided to go to my vet tomorrow, something I should've done in the first place. I've seen some people have a great experience with Spay4La & I'm sure that's true, & I'm happy for that. However, I'd like to provide some warnings so that hopefully others can avoid the experience I had. I found 9 stray cats in our neighborhood & my husband & I absolutely fell in love with one friendly fella in particular. His needs are extensive - neuter, vaccine, microchip, flea treatment, plus he has bleeding rashes & is underweight & dehydrated despite our giving him water every day (he's down the street from us so we have to bring water to him but can't leave it out). We wanted to take him in & adopt him but can't afford to pay the usual $300 to $500 it takes to neuter a cat at a regular veterinary clinic, along with how much the other medical costs are...and the food, litter, & all the supplies...So we hoped to have some help from Spay4La. We live in LA county & according to their website, our area is covered & serviced by them. I called more than 5 times & left multiple messages over the course of a week with Spay4La via the phone number on their website. I also filled out their online form. Nowhere on their website was an email listed as an available form of contact. I never heard back. Finally, we found their instagram page, which had a recent post within the past 24 hours. We thought it was odd that they could take the time to post on social media but couldn't find the time to answer the phone or call back the voice messages they received. So we expressed this in a comment on their post & also privately messaged them explaining our situation & asking for help. At the same time, we noticed a post that said "please schedule an appointment by emailing us at spay4laclinics@gmail.com". We did so. No reply. I ended up finding another email address (I can't remember where, but probably on their social media). This email address is the ONLY way to reach them!! spay4laad2@gmail.com I emailed this address & finally got a reply within the same day. I explained that I called, filled out the form, & emailed the spay4laclinics email. They said "We have flyers with our email - spay4laad2@gmail.com and we let clients know as well. That email you messaged is on our bus and it says it's used for zelle donations." I clarified that I had never seen a flier or their bus & only had access to their website, which had outdated & limited information. This clarification of mine was ignored. I was then told that our area wasn't covered after all & we would have to pay $135 to neuter. I was also given a list of other possible resources. I contacted all of them & some of them didn't actually offer discount resources but quoted the full veterinary prices of $300 or more, one of them said that they've repeatedly asked Spay4La to be removed from the contact list, & others also didn't cover our area. I finally did a good ol' google search & found Pets for Patriots. We are a veteran household so we qualify - if you are a veteran in the same situation, this is your answer!! Pets for Patriots is incredible!! Funnily enough, we first contacted Spay4La a month ago. I just got an email a couple days ago saying "Please call me regarding the cats you are helping. We have a free wellness event tomorrow. We would like to invite you and your cats." So much for not covering my area! We emailed back to say that we didn't need their services anymore. We arrived a few minutes before we were told to - texted the number we were there, we were told to wait until prompted to go in- went to pay $5, had all questions answered, brought cat to mobile, they checked her in, then were instructed with time frame pickup. While the range of time we were told we would be given didn't match what we were told in person, we didn't mind especially after only paying $5. We picked up our Toast with medication (she was heavily sedated) and it was so sad to see how drugged she was - surgery went well. Took her hours to be "normal-ish" and eat. I took my cat to their mobile services years ago(maybe 12 years ago) to get neutered and was very happy with everything...took another cat of mine to another veterinarian place to get neutered and he came back with a respiratory infection...so I feel like Spay4La might be better in general. I brought my kitten Zora to them this morning, and felt like Spay4la was very organized, clean, kind and efficient. There was about 12 other people in line with me at 7am. The check in process was about an hour and I'm picking her up at 12 noon. The cost for her spay is $5, I don't think they take credit cards or apple pay etc...so have cash ready. Also, I had to call to make the appointment via phone as the form I filled out online did not get me a call back in the 24-48 hours(or even a week). I recommend just calling and making the appointment by phone as the online form didn't seem to be very efficient. They do not provide "post op" Elizabethan cones or pain medication, so you might want to invest in a cone off of Amazon and maybe get some pet pain otc meds as well ahead of time. read more

I work in rescue; I have had hundreds of cats spayed and neutered. I have never seen anything like this. I took a female cat who was pregnant to Spay4LA clinic and had a disastrous outcome. I made it very clear the cat was pregnant. The day after her spay she was bleeding severely; not just a little so much that she ended up needing a blood transfusion. I contacted Spay4LA via phone and so did other fosters who work in rescue. We did not get a call back after repeated attempts. I finally texted the number and an hour later, a vet tech called me. They said I acted quickly to save this kitty's life. Then I got a call from a representative who said they who pay the vet bills. Spay4LA never offered alternative care for my pet. On Sunday, April 30th my 8 month old dachshund got neutered. It was a little interesting the process to set up the appointment. You had to call and leave a voicemail, then they text you and email addresses, which you set up the appointment through email. But then after all that, it was breeze. They emailed all the paperwork I needed to fill out. The week of they send you a form to fill it, it's best if you print it and have it ready to make the check in process faster the day of. It cost $27 for neuter and microchip. I don't live super close by so I'm glad I did it on a Sunday so traffic wasn't too bad on the 110. My dog was drowsy, but was completely back to normal the next day. The location was off Lacy St, not sure why this says BH. Really, really awesome experience. I've been actually trying to get an appointment with them for a while now, but they're so booked up with requests that it takes them months to get back to everyone. I happened to sign up for a local community event to get my kitten microchipped, and I was contacted a few days before asking if I was interested in having my cat fixed that morning instead. Yes please! I was sent very clear check-in instructions, directions, and pre-op instructions. I dropped off my pet around 7:45am and she was ready for pickup at 2pm (with 1 hour notice given). Two days of pain medication were provided, along with post-op instructions and a brief post-op report. I was also able to get my kitty microchipped and vaccinated at the same time, and she's been recovering very well. I'm really happy with my experience - everyone I talked to was very communicative answered all my questions. I will start by saying 1) I have had many pets (chinchilla, cats, birds, fish, dogs, rabbit, reptiles). 2) Most of my pets have been given to me or I paid to ensure that the people that had a pet that was being abused gave up the animal. 3) All that to say, I have also been responsible and ensured that they get medical needs met. Therefore, today I spent most of the day trying to get my two newest babies medically supported. Over the years I have taken my pets to vets, pet hospitals and organizations like this one and in all honesty although the expense is excessive some times, I have always had good service and the organizations have always been pretty good about timelines. Today was and continues to be ridiculous and the worst experience. Here is a summary of the horrible service: in their email and information sent to me they said to be here no later than 7:30 and that the intake would take up to 1 hour. I was on time, I was there until 9:30 before they took them and then told me to wait in case they had questions once they checked them. Was excused at 9:45. Before I left, the person who took my pets informed me of contrary information that was given to me: earlier they said they would text me between 12-3:30. Contrary info: be there anytime between 12-2, both cats wild be ready for pick up. I asked for clarification, because earlier I was told wait for text. This nurse reiterated the new instructions and told me for sure this was correct. I was there are 1:45...very long story short, I was still there after 5 waiting for them to be released to me. As if that was not bad enough, they were arguing with a guy who had been given the same wrong instructions and then released his dog to them and about 30 min later they called him back because they released his pet without the required surgery. I took my German Shepard mix puppy to get spayed and it's been about a week. My experience went like this. We arrived about 7 o'clock and got called in around 7:25. The people who took down our information were nice and they told us to go retrieve our dog and line up next to the mobile truck. I was met by another lady who asked me to take our dog wrapped in a blanket/ towel. She took our dog and told me to wait. I heard my dog cry from outside once the lady gave her a shot but I figured that was normal. She came back outside and told us that if we baby our 5 month old dog. Which I didn't know why I was being asked this and how it was relevant to her surgery. She answered for me and said she knows that I baby her because she cried when she got her shot. ????? Which my dog has only cried one other time when she was microchipped. She then tries to tell me if my dog cries after surgery it's my fault because I baby her ? Even though dogs whine after surgery due to anesthesia. So a few hours pass and we get the message to retrieve our dog. When we go to pick her up the same lady tells me the same thing. That my dog whining is my fault because I baby her. When we got home she was pretty out of it. It wasn't until we unwrapped her so she could use the restroom we noticed the botched shaving job they did to our dog. Good morning Marilyn. I have a complaint against your employee "Claudia". I put her name in parenthesis because we honestly do not even believe that's her real name considering the disgusting service she gave my girlfriend, me and my cat today just a few hours ago. We had set up an emergency appointment for today since February to have my cat neutered. My girlfriend and I both had to call off today in order to get our cat Oliver fixed because he has been in heat for over a month now and gotten worse. I have been getting complaints from my landowner to get him fixed because of how loud he gets. So we were more than happy when your company approved us for the appointment today, not just because of the low price but because of how urgent this was for us. We were at the location on 3201 Lacy st as early as 6am in order to be ready for the 7:15-7:30am appointment. Everything was going good as far as the 2 ladies in the front who took our payment and information. We made sure to take the correct carrier for Oliver and brought the needed documentation as well in order to make everything run as smooth as possible. Like I mentioned, everything was going perfectly fine and normal until we met this "Claudia" who's job was to take in the cats in. When our turn came up, she greeted us very rudely off the jump. She complained about our carrier being too dirty from the outside. We explained it had been in our shed for months as we never use it since Oliver is an indoor cat. She basically scolded us about it and acted as if it was too dirty to even touch, then she said the carrier would open so she brought a zip tie although the carrier wasn't in that condition. After all this was said and done we guaranteed her the inside was clean and so was the blanket. She took Oliver alone although there was people waiting since the cart she was using held more than 1 cat. She then came back and told us the carrier was too small (which wasn't an issue to begin with, or else why would she take him) it's a quick observation but for some reason she didn't notice it when she looked right into it from the get go. She told us we needed a bigger carrier, and to figure it out if we intended to proceed. At this time another customer offered to trade his carrier with or since his was bigger. The whole time "Claudia" basically dismissed our presence so I leaned over to my girlfriend and told her plain and simple "she doesn't even care". At that moment she lost her head and told us we can leave and told the ladies in the desk to give us our money bag because according to her I have her an "attitude". I didn't realize it was illegal to speak to my girlfriend about the horrible service this woman was giving us. So at this point she started getting emotional and causing a scene saying she was "short staffed and had a lot of work", according to her everything was about her and not about anyone else or the fact that me and my girlfriend had to make sacrifices to be there to begin with. I told her how badly Oliver was in heat to which she replied to very rudely "he's a male he isn't in heat" as if we were stupid. I told her we needed to get him fixed today as that was the whole point since it was urgent. She finally said to get a bigger carrier and come back before 11. My girlfriend and I left to buy a bigger one and we came back when we had bought one. We didn't have $50-$80 to spend on one so we got the cardboard one they sell at Petco since it's what we could afford. When we arrived again, no one was outside anymore and the guy at the shelter said she was supposed to give us a number to call when we got back. She didn't bother giving it to us so we had to wait for one of the employees at the shelter to call them out. When one of the girls came out, she said this big cardboard box was still too small. Obviously at this point we exhausted all our options and time into getting nothing done. I repeatedly asked this "Claudia" what her full name was because I needed to leave a review for the horrible service she gave us. She refused to give her full name and also threw our carrier on the ground when she brought Oliver back out and didn't bother to even put the blanket back inside. I never once expected to be treated in such a poor manner at your location considering I've been there before and never received this treatment. So now we wasted a day off work just to come back empty handed. Our whole day is pretty much ruined and now we are set back all because your employee couldn't handle her job. Clearly her job is too much for her if she treats people this way. I can only imagine how she treats the pets if this line of work is too much for her for her to take out her work issues on us customers. read more

I just picked up my dog from getting neutered and he's been shaking since I picked him up over an hour ago. I requested a nail trim and I noticed blood on his paw. They couldn't even give him a nail trim when he was under anesthesia without making him bleed? Really? Then I went to take his e collar off just to see if he would do better with the inflatable cone that I have and I noticed blood on his neck/chest. The cone they put on him was so tight or stiff that it made his chest bleed. It was digging into his skin. As if his actual surgery wasn't painful enough, now he's bleeding from several parts of his body. Lastly, they made me get him vaccinated again for parvo even though he's already had 3 sets of shots for parvo recently. Because I only had copies of 2 sets of his shots they made me get him vaccinated a 4th time. Spayed my cat at the Van Nuys mobile station on 1/23. So disappointed with the pickup! They don't give you a clear ETA before you leave at 7:45am. I thought it would be later in the afternoon base on a strange interaction with a tech. They texted me at noon that I have an hour to pick up Chloe. I live 45minutes away and it's raining. After I sent a text with my ETA of 1:45pm the woman was argumentative, harassed me with 6 calls and texts, then threatened to leave my cat at the pound or in the rain or something. And all because I was 15 minutes later then they wanted. When I called her rude and didn't want additional interaction when picking up my pet, she said I could never come back. I was really excited to have found this affordable Mobil clinic, everything was going well custom service was great everyone was friendly, it's day 4 of the surgery and everything seems to have gone well , with the exception that she got a real bad rash the next day due to them shaving her belly to rough, I call them and msg them as well to ask for advice but they are in a diff location every day which makes it hard to locate them, they gave me advice on how to care for it at home , she has been very uncomfortable itching and scratching making her rash/ wound worse. I'm now worried that it might get infected. Everything else was great I just hope that they are a little more careful when it comes to shaving them, the lady over the phone told me she could have just been sensitive but looks like they shaved a little deeper then they should have . read more

Good place to go but expect one issue one of the workers were very extremely rude! I'm writing for my sister because she doesn't have Yelp. She had told me she had a bad experience today with one of the lady workers the rest of the workers my sister said was very polite & professional. It all started off the lady asked if my sister wanted her 2 dogs chipped my sister had said "can I get one of them chipped" (she only had enough for 1 dog due to money issues are tight for her. Thats the reason why she took them there for the free neutering in the first place.) the lady straight up saying "your dogs that terrified, aggressive, & scared won't last in a shelter!" With a ATTITUDE!! First off my sisters dogs are the sweetest pups & not aggressive at all. My sister suffers from anxiety & she felt attacked but my sister told her she can only get 1 dog chipped. So then the lady tells her "Oh so you only love one dog?" Questioning her on the spot in front of other people like what the hell not professional at all. My sister loves her boys very much those are her babies. So I told her it's fine get it done they do need it, I'll help her pay for the rest what ever they need of course family got each other's backs. So it's just comments that was unnecessary. Overall we are satisfied that the boys are fixed thank you but please be more professional. read more

I can't believe there aren't hundreds of 5-star Yelp reviews for this org. What a find. $10 to have your dog spayed or neutered. Anesthesia alone can cost hundreds of dollars. The vet and vet techs and the women setting up were knowledgeable and kind. They're also super organized; show up at 7am (or earlier), stand in line, wait to be called, fill out a form, pay and take your dog inside the mobile clinic where they'll make sure you didn't feed your pet after 10pm, and then leave and wait for them to call you to pick up your baby. They even pulled the baby tooth I asked them to (not pulling can cause the jaw to deform). Excellent org, excellent service. read more

My appointment was at 7:15 and I came from Orange all the way to LA and I got there early and messaged them that I was there like they said. They told me to wait until they texted me. It was 8:30 and they didn't call me so I went and asked and they said that because my dog barked because it was obvious that we didn't let her out at all and that it was abuse. She also said that if she bit them they could sue. Know that I get my dog out every day. The lady was very rude and because my sister was with me she said to wait in the car because she wasn't going to ask us again and she wasn't going to take my dog even though I had payed already. I wouldn't recommend taking your dog because there is other bad reviews about them being rude. read more

Heaven forbid you make a complaint, comment or suggestion, WARNING they will ban you for life, instead of taking the suggestions or comments or addressing them their knee jerk reaction is to ban you from every ASPCA anything, very unprofessional and I find it extremely vindictive and petty on their part. Brought 2 cats in that needed to be neutered, says first come first serve, WRONG, the doctor that came apparently showed up late, I get that there is a check in, but the the appt. was in the 7am hour and the surgery was not done until 3:30-4pm. The doctor decided that he was not going to go by the appt times he was going to do all the dogs first, some of the assistants said sorry this doctor always does this he doesn't care that your appt was first or that you showed up first per their own policy. Sorry you got this doctor the other doctors are not like this. It is also not the safest area to wait either (South LA one) - really - but you aren't allowed to ask a question or inform the organization that this happened because they will get feelings about it, take it personal and ban you for life, instead of asking the doctor why he decided to do that, when the other doctors apparently do not do that. Even if the doctor does not get started till 9am - they do not tell you it could be a 7-9 hour wait. Just be warned if you get that part. dr. and you have a cat be prepared for 7-10 hour wait. Ultimately, the pet owner who is bringing the pet in is saving a pet's life and making a commitment to that pet for their entire life, which speaks volumes and if you say 1 thing they don't like you are banned for life and they should make it easy for you to want to come back should you want to commit yourself to save another pet, not be petty about it. read more
