Dawn and her other 2 amazing workers were so nice and worked super well with me. I adopted one of their puppies and the experience was just amazing. they truly care about their animals and they give you so much to go home with.

Dawn was so incredible. I was looking for a small young dog and so many rescues didn't have them. If they did, so many people were vying for them. I found Dawn on Yelp. She had two up for adoration. My sister and friend went over there to meet one, the other got adopted. She let us stay as long as we needed to get to know him. She did no hard sells which I really appreciated because I had just lost my dog and was nervous about getting another one. I loved the puppy she had and paid for him that same day. She is more reasonable than other rescues. She even held on to him for a few days and arranged to get him neutered (including in the cost along with a rabies shot). She was honest and kind. She even arranged for me to connect with the person that had returned him (due to that person getting 2 from her and realizing it was too much for this retired couple). I am so grateful I found this rescue! My dog is doing great. Please check her rescue out. Oh and the other thing I appreciated was, I didn't have to fill out a 4 page adoption application. She asked important and relevant questions. I'm so appreciative of having found her!

Thank you Dawn for our precious baby Rocky. We saw Rocky on a website. Contacted Dawn and were able to adopt him. He is a three month old Pomeranian full of spunk and energy so healthy and so loving we can't thank you enough for this beautiful addition to our family.

Dawn and all the assistants in the office were so helpful in getting me to see our potential new baby and we adopted her on the spot. They gave me enough info to make an informed decision and a voucher to get her fixed once we spent time together. 6 days later my dog and the new baby have formed a playful bond. Thank you Fur Baby Rescue. We gladly paid the $feea to support dawn and their work in south central.

11.22.2020 I'm well pleased with this place, I saw an adoptable your Chi mix pup and sent Dawn a text, she responded as soon as she could and set up an appointment to interview and and allow the dog to see if he wanted to come home with me (an important step many neglect) , I was lucky and happy that he chose me and after discussing my house & yard, the care necessary to give any animal (again, many have no idea) I was allowed to adopt my little pup and he's quite happy to have a permanent home . My pup came in very good health, all I needs do is take him for the rabies shot, I'm trying to get him in this week . -Nate

I rescued the smartest, adorable border collie/husky mix rescue from Dawn this October. She was super responsive and overall it was a fast process. I got to meet prior, ask questions, get approvals from apartment, etc. her assistants well very nice and helpful too. He was struggling with his stool (!) before I took him home, and Dawn, feeling her way through vs seeking vet counsel, diagnosed via text with me as it continued, and I felt we wasted weeks where he could have been actually helping him. When I brought him in to an actual Vet, he tested positive for two parasites, one low and one high. He is currently being treated for coccidia and then we will test again in two weeks. I understand anything can happen with rescue pups as they have been through a lot, but one exam / test would have saved a lot of time and money. The high price point includes what other foundations include, standard three rounds of shots, and a voucher for fixing with a partner hospital. It should have included a vet visit (as these dogs might be infected with something without proper diagnosis. someone else commented below that her recent boxer rescue at the place also tested positive for coccidia, same October timeline.) Other than this, he is a happy healthy pup. I would recommend working with a rescue that has a way for you to get medical care/support/ approval should they need. Overall, it could just be bad luck that 1/3 pups are sick. It's been an additional $500+ to treat on top of the rescue fee.

IMPORTANT NOTES FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE ADOPTING: Make sure to fully get the neutering prices squared out or declined their neutering/spaying coupon and have that money be subtracted from your adoption fee. The rescue and vet that they partnered with are doing some shady pricing and is adding on extra fee for an already expensive $600 adoption fee. Our Story: We adopted a mixed breed puppy for $600, which is extremely pricy considering you can get some pure breed for a little bit more from a reputable breeder. The only thing good is that this price covers his 3 rounds of vaccine and neutering procedure. In their document that they provide, they said that for Spaying/Neutering, they only cover the procedure, and that the post procedure products, which are the cone, pain med, and antibiotic, should only be about $85. When we brought our puppy to the vet and have the procedure done, they initially charged us ~$300 with the voucher included. After arguing with them regarding the price and showing them the Fur Baby document, they reduced it to $163. When looking at the bill, there were a few additional charges that are not the "post-procedure" products. When we confront them about it, they told us that Dawn is aware of the charges, and we should took it up to her instead. When we messaged Dawn about it, she totally dismissed our ask of refunding the ~$78 of extra charge that was incurred for the neutering procedure, saying that it's "between the vet and us" and claiming that we asked for the extra procedures. We did not ask for these and these were added in during the neutering process, so this should fall under the "neutering" portion that they covered. After pointing this out, Dawn just ghosted me and stopped responding. Another thing that was super shady about this is that in the rescue documentation, they said that we can ask for rabies vaccine during the neutering procedure, and that it'd cost $10. When I call and make an appointment with the vet, they told me that it'd be $15 and the price has increased since then. Sure, no problem. We're doing this for convenience, so the extra $5 isn't a big deal. After the neuter and we went to pay the bill, they told me that the vaccine was $20 and that the price has increased. This was only three weeks after I made the appointment. We argued with them and told them that $15 was the price they said on the phone, and they folded instantly. If you're gonna scam, at least get your prices straight. A vet near us is still doing $10 rabies vaccine. Attached is my vet receipt. Green are the pain med, antibiotic, and cone that we're supposed to pay out of pocket. Yellow are the extra charges during the neutering procedure (this is the one I'm asking refund for). Now that I look at it again, one of the charges literally said "rescue" on there lol. The last one is the $15 vaccine that we had to argue the price for.

Fall 2019 Adoption Pros. No crazy application process or waiting period. Not too outrageous adoption fee, inclusive of shots, neuter/spay. And, most importantly, because of this place, I have the BESt dog. Ever. Cons. Dogs go fast. Sometimes hard to reach anyone. Don't rely on their estimates of size or breed. I was told my puppy was a Cairn Terrier/Pug mix who'd be no more than 25 lbs. I did Embark and turned out my little guy was a German Shepard mix coming in at a healthy 40lbs. But, you can't fault them for this stuff because you never know with strays and abandoned pups. Before going, I read reviews about this place possibly being discriminatory and the puppies being sick, which made me worried. But, I can guarantee that neither of things happened for my adoption. I'm Asian and I did not feel in any way discriminated by Dawn or any of her staff. It was a very pleasant adoption experience for me. BTW: My buddy had a brother (Everest). If you're have him, give me a shout so maybe we can unite the brothers. :)

After my senior pug passing away, Dawn at Fur Baby Rescue helped me adopt a sweet pug baby, and slowly my broken heart is healing. I would definitely recommend Fur Baby Rescue!

    Our Peanut!
    Ann C.

When we first saw Peanut on adopt-a-pet website, we knew need we needed to meet her. When Dawn brought her to us, we knew she was going to be our fur baby! Dawn was so sweet and we could tell how much she cared for the pets under her care! We are so happy to bring Peanut home and give her a forever home!

On our way home from Fur Baby

My boyfriend and I adopted Mr Pockets (formally Gizmo). Easy application process, easy payment transfer and the cost came with all shots administered by Fur Baby & a voucher for the neutering/rabies/microchip from a nearby vet. Love that our puppy was well socialized with other puppies and cats. Couldn't have asked for a better dog! We've had him for 2 months and he's so healthy and happy. Thank you Fur Baby, especially Dawn!!

I adopted my puppy in Dec of 2022, she was 2 months old and was visibly sad but I just thought it was a new environment (didn't think much of it) on our way home she had a cough so I took her to the vet for care right away. She was diagnosed with kennel cough but gradually turned into pneumonia a week later, we did a PCR test to find out she had bordetella and distemper disease. Fast forward two and half months later, we fought for her life to be saved and did everything we could but her body shut down. My sweet little Angel past away at 1:30am from seizures from distemper disease. All in all I was sold a sick puppy from the start, I was given a refund for her but I can't get back the money I spent to save her nor the heartache I've endured. I lost my sweet girl. I would stay away from this place if you were to adopt a puppy/dog. Save yourself the heartache. Sadie this is for you.

She acknowledged it was a good question, and advised me to go back to the Receiving desk, have a conversation with them, and see if there were any options. I went back to receiving as the elder suggested, but unfortunately I was met by a rude middle aged women who certainly did not want to have a conversation. I confirmed, and just asked if there were other options besides spaying and releasing the cat (as the elder had advised me to do). She was incredibly condescending! She absolutely spoke down to me, as if I did not understand that cats *can* be free roaming. That's common knowledge - but in this neighborhood we have tons of coyotes. I've see so many stray cats go missing overnight only to find furry coyote poop along the street soon after. Disgusting behavior from a person working where literal animal's lives at stake. Julia told me that Oliver was not there that day and that they hadn't heard back from his foster family, so they assumed he'd been adopted and to email them so they could keep an eye out for a dog/pup that was good with cats (as Oliver was). Now, I understand that this org is run by volunteers, most if not all are, and that there isn't always time to respond immediately. But if you're not returning phone calls and you're not responding to emails AT ALL even several days later, then there's a problem. How are these dogs to find good homes if potential adopters can't even get a response? And I would expect a rescue organization to have better follow-up and love for the dogs they place/foster than to just assume that they've been adopted after not hearing back from those watching over them. My husband and I ended up adopting a one-year old shelter dog from a wonderful woman named Stacy. Working alone, she saves dogs from shelters, places them with friends and then finds good homes for them. She managed to respond to my emails and calls the same day and she's just one person. Not a good experience at all.

Little Lions Social Club is a welcome addition to the Arts District because of its unique setting:…read morepart cat lounge, part tea room, part art studio. What a fun, therapeutic vibe! Guests can interact with cats while sipping on freshly brewed tea and relaxing in a calm, thoughtfully designed space. The café features a couple of different rooms where guests can unwind and play with the cats. There are even art supplies and adult coloring books available, which, if you haven't tried before, can be surprisingly soothing. I'm officially a fan. Add in a mix of cats with different personalities, and you have the perfect setting to unplug from the world for a bit. And best of all, if you find yourself bonding with a kitty or two, they are in need of a loving home and totally adoptable! The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the owner shared that the delicious tea they brew is sourced from his home country. Thoughtful touches, like getting to choose a teacup that resonates with you, make the experience feel even more warm and personalized. I'd definitely love to return and would opt for the longer 3-hour session as opposed to the 45 minute one next time. Because you can never have too much cat therapy!

Must-visit place for animal lovers!…read more If you love animals but can't have one, or if you only have dogs and want to spend time with cats, this is a perfect choice. I had a wonderful time with the furry babies. Pros: Incredibly Clean: The place was so nice and spotless. I wore white socks and was worried, but they stayed perfectly white the whole time. Kind Staff: The staff are very helpful and clearly love cats. Save Lives: It's heartening to see this place giving cats a chance to survive, especially in a high-kill city like Los Angeles. You can even consider adopting one! Cons: A Bit Bittersweet: Since these cats are for adoption, you might not see the same cat again once they find a forever home. It made me a little sad, but I know it's a better future for them. Note: You can buy snacks at the front to give to the lovely cats. I hope this place continues to do well and helps many more cats find a new life!

While we've made a lot of progress over the years, her skills have slipped and I really need her dialed in on her responses. While it's nobody's business, just in the past few months; we were both struck by a distracted driver while walking in the crosswalk and had the signal to proceed. I looked in every direction, but several steps into the crosswalk, an SUV did not slow down, and hit us...A week and a half ago, I was held at the ER on suicide watch. Three days ago, I was within feet of getting shot by a gun right outside of my business! I strongly considered a German Shepherd since they're also intelligent, loyal and can provide protection/barriers for those suffering from PTSD like myself. I've been suffering a lot with my clinical depression and anxiety for years, all the while, I'm a small business owner. Csilla replied to me and automatically denied my application for considering rehoming, and for "testing" if they don't make the cut. Rehoming is NOT an easy decision, I've been crying over the thought, I love my dog! I love my dog so much that I was only reaching out to close friends who my dog also loves, so I can still see here. My immediate family does not want a second dog in our household, so this was the only loving and responsible decision that I can come up with. It's neither fair for a dog that exhibits fear, stress, and anxiety to be forced into a job that only exacerbates their behavior. My mental and physical health are just as important as my dogs. This is the purpose of rehoming, I never once said that I would surrender her to a shelter or just simply disown her. Below is her response; ..."Unfortunately we're not able to approve your application. There is no guarantee that any of our dogs will work out as a service animal, and the fact that you would rehome her if that was the case, makes this an automatic decline for our rescue. It's very sad to hear that you are thinking about rehoming a dog that has been with you for 5 years. There are countless dogs in animal shelters dying every day because people consider them disposable. Your dog will be heartbroken if she has to lose her family. Her stress and anxiety will get even worse, which means many people will pass on her at the shelter and she will most likely be euthanized because of the overcrowding problem in the shelter system. We hope you will not let that happen and leave her behind to be killed. There is no reason why she can't stay with you as just a regular pet and part of the family, while you get a 2nd dog that has been proven to be a qualified service dog. It's not fair to the dogs for you to keep "testing" and rehoming them if they don't make the cut. Please work with one of the many organizations that specialize in placing service dogs. Any dog returned to a shelter (not rescue) has a much higher chance at being euthanized sooner than the ones who haven't been adopted and returned yet. Thank you, Csilla Westside German Shepherd Rescue of Los Angeles" Absolutely disgusting response; full of guilt, shame, and judgement! I will NEVER contact them again! I will leave their response on here for potential clients to read for themselves. FWIW, I decided to continue working with my dog, despite the $6k training costs! My mom also couldn't let that happen and told me that if it came down to it, she would keep her.
