As my annual wellness exam deadline was quickly approaching, I came across this primary care…read morefacility via Zocdoc as it was conveniently located close to my workplace. I was pleased to see they had numerous openings and I was able to schedule my appointment at a time convenient with my schedule. I was greeted with courtesy and professionalism upon arrival, and the check-in process was easy and quick. The clinical medical assistant was friendly and welcoming and best of all, the doctor I ended up seeing, Dr. Mena, was exceptional! She was communicative, attentive, and an excellent listener and made my visit feel as if it were "tailor-made". Overall, my interaction with those I encountered (front desk, medical assistants, the doctor, and laboratory techs) were positive. Best of all, I later found out that this clinic is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the community with passion, compassion and integrity, all of which were evident during my scheduled visit. I would highly recommend them and their team of doctors!

Dr very nice and sweet but asks leading questions when given a sample of the brand name and a generic prescription for migraines, she asks if the brand name works? I said "yes it does" so she only documents that in the progress note and nothing about the generic that she already gave me 36 pills for prior, so THAT is why the nurse tech assumed correctly that when I called for my migraine medication refilled, she initiated a request for the brand name medication I had only 2 sample pills of prior. This then began a long insurance process unbeknownst to both myself and the Dr, however, when I asked to cancel the prior auth for the brand name and just refill my generic migraine meds, he continues to say he will "put a request in and ask the doctor for a recommendation". I explained that's what I had been advocating for & that it's been 3 weeks of back and forth phone calls while I'm working with these debilitating migraines. The office manager states that he "doesn't know what I want" and he will be discharging me with a 30-day prescription for the generic migraine meds I INITIALLY ASKED HIM FOR at the beginning of this 20-min conversation. Will try to push the prescription name brands of medications just to receive a kickback even at the expense of the patient. Shameful. I profusely THANKED him for doing the wow-so-difficult service of sending my prescription migraine medication so I can stop this pounding in my head and not have to jump through hoops because his nurse tech "didn't know" better. The patient is suffering and their lack of care and regard to save face and ego is shameful.

She evaluated him, came up with a solid plan of what he needed and we got to work. She would come to our house for his sessions, which was convenient but also productive for him being in his "safe place." She not only made great progress but left us with "homework" so we could work with him outside of therapy to accelerate his progress. Jennifer is nurturing but also firm/direct and gets results (she is great with kids). My son loved working with her. I'm happy to report is speech 100% resolved and he had no additional issues after his time with Jennifer. I highly recommend her if you need a speech therapist!

I came in as a healthy, young male for a pre-employment physical. Working in healthcare, I get physicals at least annually, among other tests and screens. She could have easily performed a cursory physical exam, asked me whether I could physically work, and signed my form. Instead, Dr. Velez provided a complete physical exam, obtained a full medical and surgical history, and screened me for a few health conditions based on my intake forms and family history. Needless to say, I was impressed with her approach this visit. Not only does she provide comprehensive care, she also knows how to build rapport. She entered the room with a friendly smile, used little medical jargon, which improves communication for many, and was very approachable. If I were to stay in Orlando, she would be my primary care physician! Velez Family Health is located in Dr. Phillips in an office building. It's not visible from the parking lot, but if you walk down the hall of the north building, you'll find this clinic on the first floor past the restrooms. I have been going to Dr. Douglas for several years now. I only need to see the doctor once a year…read morefor my regular check up but every time I have gone, I have been happy with the visit and efficiency of the office. My husband also sees Dr. Douglas (we almost never go together due to work schedules) and my husband has similar experiences. The staff here is great and the office runs efficiently. Dr. Douglas runs on time. I've never had a wait. My husband is typically a difficult stick. The phlebotomist here is awesome and always gets him on the first time. Dr. Douglas is kind and takes a real interest in you, not just as a patient but as a person. Dr. Douglas is a huge dog lover and has photos of his dogs in the exam rooms. It's a nice touch so that the office feels less sterile and more welcoming. It's also nice to get a glimpse into his hobbies/ outside interests. That way you see him not just as your doctor but as a human. Overall I highly recommend Dr. Douglas. He is a wonderful PCP. You want someone who takes the time to listen and gets to know you as a person. The location is convenient for me but even if I lived a little further away, I'd drive the extra distance for a good doctor.
