Unfortunately, I left really, really disappointed (did I say really?) & sad they took away the Candles & Cocktails experience! That's what made them unique and an actual "Speakeasy Candle" company. Kind words of advice to the owner: Since you have your liquor license now, please hire an in house bartender to keep making the 4 signature candle drinks. That's what made the whole experience! It would also be great if it were more than an hour. $50 just to make a candle and have a 1 glass of bubbly isn't worth it. Speakeasy Candle Co. offers a variety of scented plant-based, wood-wick candles inspired by cocktails. A few sizes are available for purchase, or you can pour your own candle with a selection of scents. They are located at the UnCommons in Southwest Las Vegas across from the Durango Casino. There is a workshop with cocktails included and a workshop with no cocktails included. They also recently posted on their Instagram that they are or have opened a walk-in and pour option. I believe we paid $85/person for the cocktail workshop, but there is also a $65/person option with no cocktail included. Parking garages are available and if you park for 2 hours or less, parking is free. There is modern/trendy decor inside and the workshop room opens through a hidden door, on theme! The room is dimly lit and beautifully decorated. You'll be provided with safety goggles and an apron. Make sure to plan ahead so you and your group or partner can sit together. Seating is reserved. Staff is friendly and helpful. Instructions are easy to follow and you get to test your sense of smell along the way. You leave your candle to cool and then pick it up on the date discussed in class. They will send you a reminder text just in case you forget. Overall, it was a fun experience! We did this as part of our Alphabet Date plan for letter C. Need a unique date night idea or fun girls outing? This is definitely the spot if so! Speakeasy Candle Co. is located just south of I-215 & east off of Durango. There's a lot of road construction (lane closures) out that way right now, so it's not easy getting into the little shopping area without fearlessly cutting off oncoming traffic. I'm not super familiar with this area of town, so I'm not sure if (you're coming from 215 or from the north) to take another exit and then approach the side street heading north?? The parking situation is also a tad annoying, as the garage has a max of 2 hours free--and it'll likely take more than 2 hours to make a candle (at a leisurely pace)--and on-street parking is not free and/or is limited to 30 minutes. It would be much more preferable to me if as part of the class (and standard cost) parking slips could get validated for free parking. Once you get to the shop, you'll definitely appreciate its aesthetics along with the friendly staff! There's candles galore, and the organized layout of them promotes a feeling of serenity. Then, there's this one wall that seems a tad...odd...towards the right side of the shop. And this wall is indeed odd...because it's secretly a door that opens to a cozy-sized room with tables and barstools, cocktail bar, photo/selfie wall (love!), and shelves of candle-making supplies!!! If you're like me and have never made a candle before, you'll really appreciate how the shop proprietor, Alisha, and her husband have structured the classes. They walk you through the entire process, step-by-step, in a manner that keeps you engaged and entertained. It was so fun being able to learn various aspects of candle-making, sipping champagne, and eventually pouring our candles! What were less-than-stellar aspects of my experience are, first, that the candle scent options were relatively limited and without opportunity to branch outside of the predefined options, and also that there weren't very many container colors to choose from. However, this may have simply been due to the size of our group--so, I don't consider these two things to be of much consequence. (Important Note: You have to wait to bring your candle home since the wax has to cool; so, this is probably not the activity for you if you're not a local or if you're not able to remain in Las Vegas for a few extra days and/or return to the store to pick up your candle.) All things considered, this is still an incredible Black, woman-owned business!!! On their website just pouring candles is $45 and then cocktails and pour is $65 what we didn't know is that drinks were not included in the $65 we paid. So what is the extra $20 for if not for cocktails?? We definitely came in there thinking we'd at least get 1 free cocktail since we paid extra but that was not the case. The store front is super low key, welcoming and cozy! You can smell their various candles which are neatly tucked under glass containers to preserve their scents. The owner was incredibly helpful in helping me discover which ones I liked best. I opted for a trio of the smaller size to burn and see which one I liked best. Admittedly it was hard to decide and I know I'll be ordering more. I also purchased a full size for a family member that is local to the area. I learned that you can bring the glass back and get a 50% off a refill. After talking with the owner for a while, she reveal the hidden space tucked carefully in the back where they offer candle pouring and cocktail workshops in a speakeasy-like setting. Following the theme of "speakeasy" the candle scents are cocktail inspired. You'll find scents like Hemingway Daiquiri, Old Fashioned, and Rose. Located in the UnCommons plaza off of Durango and 215, Speakeasy Candle is an awesome shop that not only offers terrific soy candles, but also candle-making workshops. I had the pleasure of taking one of the classes this past Friday night with four of my gal pals. For 2022 Christmas gifts, I gave these close friends the present of taking the workshop together for a very fun girls' night out. At a reasonable $60 per person for the workshop, we spent close to 1.5 hours learning how to make our own cocktail-themed candle. Owner Alisha, along with her husband Ruben and crew member Kiana educated us on how to be chandlers (candle-makers) for the evening, providing all the tools we needed to do so. Did I mention that bubbly is served, too? They kept our plastic champagne glasses full throughout the night; if you don't want alcohol, they have seltzer and cider! My friends and I sat together, learning and laughing, and I would highly recommend this experience for date night, gals' night, or just quality time with yourself. I will definitely be back to do it again with my husband and more friends. Even before we took the class, I have been to Speakeasy to purchase candles for our house as well as gifts. We love the whole theme of the shop and the staff is terrific. There are several sizes of candles to choose from, including cute travel sizes. This place is such a hidden little treasure! I did a pull up and pour candle workshop with my friends and had so much fun that I brought my family a second time. It was 45 dollars per person for the class and it was pretty worth it. You get to pour two six ounce candles and they smell so good! The quality of the wax and the scents is impeccable. While there I also purchased a candle from the store and it's my favorite candle right now honestly. It fills the room with scent within 2 minuets of burning! The candles we poured also do the same thing they have such strong scents it's honestly so worth the cost. Additionally, the owner and the staff working the class are so helpful. My friend and I just grabbed some lunch at Urth cafe and noticed there was a new cute candle store. Who doesn't love candles right? The concept is so cute and creative, each candle is inspired by a cocktail. We got a chance to smell all of them and they were all pretty pleasing and not overwhelming. They candles are made out of soy and looked like they had a wood wick, not sure if it applies to all or just certain scents. Love the concept of traveling tins, because sometimes when I travel, I do like to bring a candle along because hotel rooms/ bathrooms, sometime smell funky. Some candles were purchased, but we did not burn them yet. Now the best part that will have us coming back is that they offer candle making classes. The location is super secret on where the classes are held at, but if you go in and check them out, i am sure they will show you the location. My friend and I were blown away. Last weekend, I signed up and took another candle making class with my 15 year old niece this time. I find this experience unique and a fun moment to share with others. The owners Alisha & Rubin (dynamic married duo!) are incredible ambassadors of candle making. With every visit, I continue to learn about chandlery: the art & science of hand pouring candles. When you pay for the class date online, you can sign up for two class options. One class is a little cheaper where you can sip prosecco or beer throughout the class. The other class comes with a bartender making the signature cocktails. The inside of the studio is super cute and the owner, Alecia really payed attention to details when designing her space. The front room is a storefront where you can buy candles with the speakeasy logo. The back room is the class space. It has a side bar and there are 3-4 attendants that work the classes. You get to play a nose game where you are blinded to not knowing which scent is what. You first rate the four cocktails 1-4 on which is your favorite to DRINK. The drinks are: rose, Hemingway daiquiri, gin and tonic, and old fashioned. Then you get to dip scent testers into the unmarked fragrances. You smell the four different scents and rate them accordingly. They then tell you which scent pairs with what drink. You get to pick if you want to make the candle based on what you like to drink or which one is your favorite scent from the blind test. They throw in a few other scents along the way. You're called by table to pick your candle jar or two paint cans. They use wood wicks. They walk you through the process of making sure the candle wax is heated to the perfect temperature. Once you pour, voila you're done. Everyone gets to pick up their candle about a week later. I chose the rose scent. It's strong and makes my whole living room smell heavenly. I'm super happy the way it turned out. No hiccups, and you have a beautiful candle! I can't wait to go back for another class in the fall. read more

We each had our own station to work at, it was a very organized process. The place is cute. That's the only reason this place gets a one star from me. The seating is very tight and you can tell the model is to make more money rather than provide a great experience. The staff was unprofessional when carrying the hot wax over our shoulders hence the waiver. Not only that, but we followed instructions exactly as they were provided as to when to add scent to the hot wax and the two candles we made didn't smell like anything when it was time to burn them. The owner Alisha is stuck up and the rest of her staff adopts her same mentality talking to people like they are above them. To top it off, I never received the drinks that I paid for, they made me pay for drinks again when I got there. This place is definitely only out for your money and they make that very clear. Fun place to make candles! Really enjoyed this place. Did a team building night there it was awesome! Highly recommend!
