Passing thru, stopped for coffee. Love the vibe. Such cute decor. A feast for your eyes. Very warm and inviting. Service was good, prompt, friendly. Asked about the scones, she recommended her fave. Ordered The Babe which is a white chocolate mocha, very balanced, not too sweet but sweet enough. The scone was a good flavor but not as cakey, more like a heavy biscuit. It wasn't dry but just was missing something for me. I make amazing scones so I'm a tough customer. I did eat it all, so it wasn't bad just not a wow. Nice ambiance with good music in the background, perfect level, not overpowering. Met the owner, very sweet. Loved talking with her. She connected with all her customers, obviously she loves what she is doing. Wish we were going to be there later for the live music.

Apple cinnamon scone, iced vanilla chai

A cute, cozy coffeehouse that had a wonderful scone and delicious vanilla chai! (: We also ordered a black coffee, and even the plain coffee was wonderful. Will definitely return!

    Whimsical decor. Love!!

Loved this cute, cozy, and charming coffeeshop in downtown Quitman. It's really the poster child for cool, independently owned java spot. Vintage furniture, obscure music, non-sensical decor just nudging you to daydream and chill in one of the nooks of this quaint garret. Additionally, their coffee was wonderful. Quality beans brewed with care. And they had all of the caffeine condiments i require, soy milk, cinnamon, and raw sugar. Treat yourself next time you are passing through downtown Quitman and grab a refreshment, hot or cold. After your first visit, if you're like me, you'll want to return soon for your next escape from the mundane.

Al Capone coffee and birthday cupcake

My husband and I are from out of town and we stopped in for a breakfast and coffee. Wow! Incredible coffee, beautiful building with lots of cozy sitting options, and the friendliest service around. Today they are celebrating the 6th year and the owner went around giving everyone birthday cupcakes! We ended up staying and just hanging out at the shop for about 4 hours yesterday. Today we came back planning on working half the morning here again because this place is just amazing. Thank you Speakeasy Coffeehouse!

Pretty amazing place. Everything is to go and there's a new menu every week…read more This place popped up under sandwich shops, but I would call it a restaurant with a bakery. I had these smothered pork chops with okra and squash that came with the side of black peas, and cornbread The pork chop was super flavorful and tender. The black guy peas, not mushy at all with an incredible flavor. I really don't like it when folks overcook them and these were perfectly done but you probably my star of the show was the okra and squash so much of the okra these days is just deep fried batter with a sad little vegetable inside. These were real corn breaded magic Had to physically force myself not to turn around and go back and get one of the solid salted caramel cookies and I must admit I broke into the peanut butter one as well, they are crack A very cobbler came with the meal and it had the perfect amount of tart with a very nice crust. So often these days, most cobblers and crumbles are too sweet at restaurants. This is a pretty special spot. I was driving through Quitman because I spent about 10 summers here as a child with my grandfather , who had a little summer house out here. It's been a neat walk down memory lane and now I have the food to match.

This is true gem out in the country…read more The country is full of standard-issue mom-and-pop cafes dishing out standard coffee and food. KT'z Espresso is a mom-and-pop store but it is offering more of a refined city experience. First, the building is attractive lookng inside and out, and stands out in that regard. The inside is simple, clean, and modern looking by country standards. It is not cluttered with garage sale decor, but has a purpose in its styling. It is attractive without being random and cluttered, and has the feeling of a quality cafe in the middle of Colorado or other state that offers good coffee even out in the middle of nowhere. One item of note inside is a large wall mounted rolling ball kinetic sculpture that is fascinating to watch. This device has a chain that conveys balls to the top, and the balls roll down a series of tracks while activating various elements along the way. I had a hot latte with caramel syrup and it was very good. The sweetness was not overbearing, The underlying espresso and milk were correct in flavor and balance. My companion had a non-sweet, flavored, brewed black tea on ice that was extremly flavorful and well balanced. These drinks are not cheap. You are paying big city prices here, however the quality of the drinks and decor is very good. The service here is friendly and fast enough. Step into KT'z and step out of the country. Next time I'm in Emory, Texas, I will stop at KT'z and get coffee that no one else in the area is serving.

Though The Foundry is ultimately connected to Bethel as their nonprofit, and many Bethel members spend time there, it misses the mark of being what feels like a "Christian coffee shop". Instead feels like a coffee shop that is driven by God, which is a very important difference to make. The Foundry is welcoming to all and is a place of peace for all. Their space is quite large, with plenty of tables of all sizes in the back, bar seating, and more. There is an outside coffee garden space that is peaceful if you happen to be around during the three weeks where Texas weather is bearable. There are also a few tables in front of the shop. There's a room that always displays local artists' work. The Foundry roasts all their own beans under Porch Culture. The team behind Porch Culture seems to have a genuine care and passion for coffee roasting, which they obviously benefits from. Certain days in the shop, you can see them roasting and experimenting in the back. I, of course, had to leave with a bag of beans to take back to Austin with me. Recently, upon my trip back home, I had a vanilla latte of theirs, which was great, plus a cinnamon roll, which was delectable. They can get pretty busy on a Sunday before a Bethel service starts, but their team usually seems on top of it most times I visit and are all very friendly and talkative. I missed The Foundry. From my time in high school when I'd go to study, or through college breaks where I used it to get out of the house and work on side projects, it was a great place to hide out, and it still is as good as I remember.
