Great food, service and hospitality. All of our meals were delicious and fresh. We had fried Mullet but all plates coming out of the kitchen looked great. The small team made us feel welcome and comfortable. Definitely should stop in if you need a great lunch traveling on I-10 in the Florida panhandle. It's worth the small detour!!! read more

Genuine down home yummy cooking at very reasonable prices. A historical gem in its original community with such hospitality. I had the best time listening to community lore from one of the locals while Coe went out his way to prep my meal. If i lived here I'd have a hard time to keep from hanging out there every day! You will be surprised by the overwhelming warm welcome when you enter the front door. Service impeccable! Easy to give 20% gratuity! The place is small ... five tables and bar seats ... only open 11AM-2PM ... the call ahead and takeaway orders are non-stop. The menu filled with variety. Super friendly from the kitchen to the counter. We all had double bacon cheeseburgers all the way. I love that all the way included grilled onions because they add so much to a burger. The home fries were tasty and they serve grapico which is the superior grape soda. 3 people with huge meals and the total was $36. I couldn't have asked for a better burger or experience. read more

We had been to the caverns and afterwards I checked on Yelp to see what restaurants where close by. I found Spears Cafe. The Cafe is in a small town and the restaurant itself at one time was a house. There is a small parking lot close by. I was surprised to see a line and when we were there people just kept coming in to get orders. We were eating inside so the owner had us set at the table by the door. The restaurant doesn't have much inside seating. We chatted with the customers and they all had been coming to Spears for years. It does take sometime to get your order. She did tell us that when she sat us. She also gave us a marker to sign our names on the wall. Lots of people had signed before us. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and home fries. The cheeseburger was very good and so were the fries. The tomato was fresh and so was the lettuce. I enjoyed this meal much more because of the owners and the customers. After we eat the restaurant had slowed down so we were able to talk with the owners. They are a wonderful couple and it was nice to chat with them. Most people had called in their orders . Lots of people were on their lunch time. If your close by give Spears a try. read more

I'm always very skeptical when a restaurant has less than 20 reviews. At the time of writing this review, this place only has 10 write ups with the oldest being from 2015. So I was a little reluctant about trying this place for that reason and because reviews that had been written seemed too good. I'm working in town and when I asked about this place, locals either said they'd never heard of it or they raved about it. So curious, I followed my phone map to this place...which took me to an old neighborhood area. The area looks run down and the address appeared to be a house. The door had a hanging sign that said closed but a lit sign in the window that said open. I drove off. A few days later, a coworker said she ate there and gave me the lowdown and said her burger was excellent! OK, so I went back again a few weeks later. My coworker told me there are a few dirt parking spots across the street. On this attempt, the lot was full and a car stopped right in the street and the driver ran in to pick up her order. I ended up parking on an adjacent street. Now it's fairly small inside with just a few tables. I think it's actually an old garage section of a house that has been converted. There's a small kitchen section next to seating area. On my visit, the place was packed. I ended up sitting on a high stool at the kitchen window because there was no open seats left at any of the tables. For staff, it was just one server and the cook...again, this place is tiny. She was extremely busy between handling all the phone orders, cashing out seated customers, and to-go & order pick ups. The cook was equally busy! The inside decor is reflective of the outside looks and the neighborhood. But when it comes to their burgers, they blow the roof off. Yeah, they're that good! It was by far one of the best burgers I've had in a very long time. I got my burger with their house crinkle cut fries. But there are other fries options and even a baked potato if that's more to your liking. Drinks come in cans out of a frig cooler. By the time I was leaving, the crowd thinned out significantly...apparently, I went in during the lunch rush. In speaking with the server, she told me that next door was another business and on the other side of that was a new parking lot with a more parking spaces. Unfortunately, I don't see where a big rig, RV, or bus could park...on the street would severely block traffic. An RV or bus might be able to use the new parking lot to turn around but I don't there is any turn around options for a big rig (w/trailer). For me, this is one of those rare places that I highly recommend...that's if you want a good hamburger. But again, don't judge this place by it's looks. They're not greasy and the fry is light and buttery. Fresh fried okra (not those disgusting frozen ones) and cheese grits with homemade rolls that are deceptively good along with a side of perfectly sweet tea (and all the refills you could want!) round out a delicious and satisfying meal for a darn good price made by really good people. It's a small neighborhood place -- like maybe a dozen seats -- but everything I've had out of the Spears kitchen is fantastic. The cheeseburger is not for the faint of heart; it' a tremendous sandwich that could easily serve two. And the pork chop will make you want to slap your mama. read more

Best burgers anywhere, including Five Guys. While some people may be put off by the location of Spears, it has the best burgers and home fries in the tristate area. The owners are very nice people and the food is delicious. You won't get your food in a hurry because it is not cooked ahead of time. I eat inside whenever I want a great burger.
