I have traveled to Marianna multiple times for work over the last couple of years and Wharf Casual Seafood is always a must visit for me when I'm in town. The restaurant serves quality creole and southern seafood options, and it feels like being transported to New Orleans for a meal. Every dish has been delicious from flakey catfish with a seasoned crisp breading, crisp briny oysters, filling Po-Boys, cheesy gooey smoked gouda grits, juicy fried green tomatoes, and savory red beans and rice. On my most recent visit I tried the Wharf Shrimp Tacos and the Seafood Gumbo. The Gumbo had a flavorful spicy broth filled with soft savory rice and meaty tender shrimp. I ordered the red beans and rice and my husband had the gumbo -- both were honestly some of the best we've ever had. Rich flavor, perfectly seasoned, and clearly made with care. We have never liked hush puppies before and these were the BEST, we are hooked! The staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly, which made the experience even better. This is a very casual counter service seafood place. The people were very friendly and helpful and nothing we requested was an issue. The food came out in good time and was piping hot and fresh. It was very tasty. The fried fish was battered well and not over battered. The hush puppies were good and the French fries were fantastic. My wife ordered blackened mahi tacos and they were very large and deli ships as well. The sides were had were good as well. Slaw, cheese grits and sweet potato fries were all good. We drove through town at lunch time and stumbled upon this place. At first I questioned our choice to stop here because it has a fast food vibe but man, I couldn't be more wrong! The lunch special consisted of fried chicken strips, blackened shrimp, hush puppies and a side (I picked sweet potato fries). Everything came out hot and cooked perfectly. The home made dips - ranch, cocktail and honey mustard drsg were amazing! My husband had the smashed potatoes which were also unique and delicious! I would absolutely come through here again. We'd ordered an extra side with a kids meal and had a waitress try to tell us she didn't get fries too even though I'd paid extra for the side and fries. I'm going to stretch things and give this 5 stars, rather than 4. I used Yelp on a trip from JAcksonville to Louisiana and stopped here for lunch. I try to stay away from fried food, so grilled mahi po boy and tacos were a nice surprise for my girlfriend and me. Too bad more Louisiana restaraunts don't do grilled :-(. The shrimp and grits sounded good too, bet that's for next time. Sides were both great, and also a very good whipped banana pudding. You could complain about the price being a "little" high, but I travel a lot and everything is expensive, it's the way the world is in 2024 :-( I would TOTALLY come back here again... Came here for lunch and it was busy! But staff was amazing and bringing out dishes like crazy. I git the fried green tomatoes, which there were a lot so made it my main meal. I got a side of deviled egg potato salad, which was really good so I wish the portion was bigger. If you decide to get a side of hush puppies - split them. So many came in one order. They were really good though. I also got a strawberry lemonade and it was so good, they use fresh strawberries and a lemon in it. If you come here often, definitely sign up for their rewards program. This place has its own gluten-free menu. I ordered a combination entree with shrimp and bacon-wrapped shrimp with corn and a salad. The shrimp was good, not overcooked, and lightly seasoned. The corn was good and the salad was seasoned. They make their own lemonade which was fantastic! There was only one cashier, but she was patient and happily answered my food inquiries. Casual is right...it's in a run-down plaza, very basic interior, and you have to order from the counter, although they do bring it to your table. The "hostess" behind the counter was less than warm and cheerful, and that combined with the lack of ambiance almost made us leave. However, they had fried oysters on the menu which I'd been craving so we stayed. I had the oysters and absolutely tasteless coleslaw. The oysters themselves were plump and juicy, but the breading was too heavy and flavorless. My husband had grilled shrimp wrapped in bacon and fries. Bacon was basically raw and shrimp, which plump, were tasteless. Prices were higher than they should be in a place like this. If it was going for a seaside hut vibe, they definitely missed it. What's not to love about the food there. You cannot go wrong. You order at the counter, get a number and they bring it to your table. I had the fried catfish basket. Only $11.99! You have your choice of having it, grilled, blacked, or crispy. It comes with one side and hush puppies. Oh my oh my! That was the best friend catfish I've ever had in my life. So good that I went back the next day and ordered it again! For sides, had the garlic green beans one day and the collard greens the next. Oh my, again, two big winners! There are many choices of sides so you'll definitely have no trouble finding some you like. The basket comes with hush puppies. Again, the best I've ever had. No exaggeration. A big shoutout to chef Eddie Ray! He makes the magic happen back in the kitchen. I loved his cooking so much I asked the staff if I could meet him. He's awesome!! Hooray for Eddie Ray!!! Chef Ramsay, eat your heart out!! There are lots of seafood and sandwich choices and they also do catering. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. This is a gem in a smaller town, going in we weren't sure if it was going to be yummy but i had hands down the best seafood boil with crab legs! The menu item was the 1/2 lb brown bag and it had potatoes, corn, shrimp, and the most yummy garlic sauce! Def recommend 10/10 read more
