I visit every so often when I'm in town simply because of how cute it is. I was happy to see they sell some local products, like a hot sauce I previously found at the Ithaca Farmer's Market. Their book selection is also charming - I spotted a bathroom check-in book for guests to fill out, which I thought was such a fun idea. If you're visiting Ithaca and looking for local or homemade goods, Sunny Days is definitely the place to check out! :)

They have a rotating variety of sourdoughs; my personal favorite is their Sunflower loaf, but Gary's (signature original sourdough) is a close second. They also make a delightful baguette! Focaccia is amazing! They have rotating flavors (jalapeño and cheddar, kimchi, olive oil and herb, onion are just a few of their flavors), and usually have about 4 flavors at the store on any given day. Their focaccias always have a great balance of flavor and have a heavenly soft texture. Pastries are lovely as well. Flaky, buttery, and fun flavors. If I had to pick - pistachio schnecken is my favorite! Also, if you happen to be in Ithaca on a Thursday - absolutely drop by as it's their sandwich day! They have a couple of different varieties, and they always use the freshest (and often very local) ingredients.

For icecream we tasted the purple cow, peach cobbler, cookies and cream, black cherry chocolate, and the coffee heath crunch. The garlic cheddar curds were so good, I took a bag home with me! Summit cheddar had a nice nutty flavor, not too 'sharp' though. The quark was interesting... it had a rather mild flavor and interesting texture (similar to boursin). I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. I also took home a bag of the tomato basil cheese curds which I didn't like as much as the garlic ones. The tomato ones had a very subtle flavor-- too subtle. There was a line when we got there though it moves relatively quickly and is definitely worth the wait! And what a delight it was! It's a really lovely and welcoming shop with plenty of plants, books, meditation or yoga supplies, bedding, prints, and more. With a focus on eco-friendly products, the prices aren't necessarily for the budget conscious, but you can rest assured that the quality is there. The staff here are happy to help, but also let you wander the store without being overly pushy or hovering. I got into a conversation with one of them regarding some of the plants they had available - and she was quite excited to show me a new plant that she had just learned about. I ended up buying a couple plants (among other items), as I had managed to find a cebu blue pothos tucked away upstairs, as well as a white princess philodendron on display downstairs... both of which had been on my plant wishlist for a while. TL;DR. It's probably a good thing that I'm not on The Commons often, because it'd be very easy for me to spend way too much money here (especially on the bedding items, as I'm a sucker for comfy blankets and all that). That said, I'm definitely adding Home Green Home to my list of favorite Ithaca shops. Highly recommend it!
