Grilled cheese - feta pesto tomato, added chicken
    Alexandria L.

Beautiful day for an outdoor lunch. We got guest beers. but also ordered food - the crab dip was night and light and the mozz triangles were filling. Also ordered a salmon belly sandwich, yum, and grilled cheese pesto and tomato with feta, added chicken. The feta was a little much but as leftovers it was almost better? Great place to kick off the weather & work the food off walking the piers!

We stopped by Lucky Hare Brewing Bar and Grill in Watkins Glen (they also have a location in Hector) for lunch last Friday after a hike at Watkins Glen State Park. Right at the base of Seneca Lake, they have beautiful views of the lake (especially from their outside seating). The atmosphere is comfortable and casual, and the service was great. We enjoyed our beers (they had plenty to choose from), and the food menu is great. Unfortunately, they were out of a few things on the menu (the first beer I ordered and the salmon belly BLT), but we really enjoyed the shrimp burger (shrimp patty with lettuce, tomato, sliced avocado, and Thai chili guava jam on a brioche bun) and some wontons filled with cheese, chicken, spinach, and artichoke (I can't find them on their online menu, so can't remember what they were called). I really appreciated that they had some traditional brewery pub dishes with some less expected, fun (and seafood) dishes as well! With plenty of parking by the restaurant, this spot was a great choice for our lunch in Watkins Glen.

Food was fine, service was slow. But the main reason of one star is the use of generative AI. The menu and posters around the place are obvious AI. You'd think a place selling a cheeseburger for $18 would be able to afford a graphic designer. Good to know this business doesn't support artists or the environment.

Underrated bar and grill on Seneca Lake in Watkins Glen. The only negative I can think of is the marina obstructing view of the lake, but that's nitpicking. Glad I didn't check Yelp first because it might have scared me off. We didn't try any of their craft brews, but I was thrilled to see a lavender lemon drop on the cocktail menu. Very tasty. Pricy but on par with similar drinks elsewhere. My son and I enjoyed our shrimp. My husband liked his BBQ wings. The fries were great with garlic aioli. Service is excellent. Indoor and outdoor seating. Great place.

We stopped by for dinner on. Friday night looking for a beautiful view. The Lucky Hare has one of the best views in town, and it's probably the lowest prices you can get for dinner on the lakefront. Friday they had live music inside, which was super loud. The band was great, but we chose outside for the view and because the volume was more manageable. Our server was funny and very attentive. We ordered mozzarella triangles to start. They were delicious- crispy breading and yummy cheese. I got the black bean burger, which was large, fresh, and delicious. My friend got the cod sandwich, which he said was "okay". The fries were great, but the onion rings were much better. As someone else mentioned, the prices were a little high. The black bean burger with fries was $16. It was worth it to us for the view. They're open late, too, so if you're looking for live music until late on the weekends this is the place to go.

We came here on a whim after our planned spot ended up being closed, and we are so glad we did. We had Sunday brunch here after a weekend in town touring the wineries so we were in the mood for something hearty to coat our bellies. Everything was lovely, staff was friendly, brunch options were plentiful, there was something for everyone. Their French toast special was divine. The view out their patio is beautiful, and they are steps away from the iconic Seneca lake sign. Highly recommend!

Such a perfect weather day on Seneca Lake. The weather was perfect and we stopped for a small tasting of their pumpkin beer and lunch. We had their sliders and pork butt fries. The beer was good as well as their food. Will definitely be back.

We visited Lucky Hare for lunch after a local at a nearby winery recommended it as a good spot near Watkins Glen with great views. The lake views were indeed beautiful, and there was plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. What we didn't realize was that the Sunday brunch menu was the only option available. Since we had already eaten breakfast, the limited brunch offerings made it difficult to find something we were in the mood for. Most of us went with the House Burger by default. It was fine, but not especially memorable. The kids' menu offered chicken tenders and fries. The highlight of our visit was the service. Our server was friendly, and attentive, and made us feel welcome throughout our meal. She was flexible with us in allowing substitutions for the kids and made sure we had enough space for 12 people in our party.

One of the stops on our way around the lake on a Saturday afternoon. The place was packed but still found seating outside on the deck to enjoy the view. I had a pint of Peaches and Dreams, a wheat beer, while waiting for our snack to be made. My beer was delicious and the fries were on point! Would definitely stop here again on a journey around the lake.

I stopped by after a hike in at nearby Watkins Glen state park while visiting the area and enjoyed a cold beer on a hot afternoon! It's located on Seneca Lake with a beautiful view to enjoy while you're sitting outside on the back patio. The service at the bar was great and I grabbed some beers to go which were cheap! I paid $23 for one beer there and a 4 pack of beers to go with tip included so the beer cans ended up being about $4 each. That can't be beat!

Food was expensive and disappointing. Service was severely lacking. We debated whether the server had been drinking or it was her first day. When we ordered a burger, they asked how we wanted it cooked, but the patties were so thin (we suspected frozen patties) that they couldn't be cooked anything but well done. Poutine fries were not good. Someone in our party ordered chicken fingers and when we asked what dipping sauces they had, they responded with "what dipping sauce do you want?" Salads were $16 and the size of a side salad, +$3 or $4 for protein. $4 up-charge for fries with a burger. Not a lager or Pilsner to be found on their beer list. Had to ask another server for a box for leftovers and our server said "glad my coworkers are doing my job for me!" Restrooms are the size of a broom closet. Urinal flushed so hard it splashed on me. Overall, the only positive thing to say about this place was the location / view. But the food honestly felt like bowling alley food. Very disappointing as this place was recommended.

Of course, the Finger Lakes are KNOWN for wine so we're just thinking we're making reservations for a wine bar (with "speakeasy" vibes). Which that would've been totally cool with us. After continuous back and forth, changing our reservations 50 million times, adding and taking people out, we finally made it to Vinifera on a Friday night and were super apologetic since we had to make yet another change. The staff was absolutely incredible and accommodating, they made sure our party of 10 would be in the same room/table. The only "downfall" was that we'd have to share the room with another small party. Which was absolutely not a problem and we ended up being BFF'S with them by the end of the night. We met the owner Jim - the most incredible human - and he took us down to the speakeasy (which passes right through a super secretive door in the back of the main room upstairs). Side note - the main room upstairs is a vibe on it's own btw and we would've been absolutely fine and happy there. It's an actual wine store and you can purchase all kind of local wines. Be sure to ask and get all the recommendations you want. Not only did we get to enjoy an incredible time but we got a super cool VIP experience and learned the story and so much history about this place, the concept, the origin and what sparked the idea of creating it. That itself, was a treat. On to the actual speakeasy experience. When you go downstairs (through that fun super cool super secretive door) - you're instantly transported to another era, another time. It's dark, it's velvety, chandeliers, spiderwebs (the aesthetic kind, idk if there were actually any but it fit the vibe in my head), Leonardo Da Vinci, Mona Lisa, candles, curtains. There are two super cool rooms, one to the right (which is where our large party sat at) and one to the left - totally recommended for smaller groups, it's cozy, it's chill, you can interact and share with other guests too. Just by this, I'm wowed. As if this wasn't enough, the drinks were absolutely incredible. I ended up ordering some kind of a smoked drink and they happily substituted the regular old fashioned for mezcal. What a dream. Everyone was happy with their drink orders, some ordered some off the menu things and they happily made them - even though they technically only serve what's on the menu. Wine flights are also available if you're in the wine vibe. Bottom line: we loved this place SO much, we came back 2 night's later for our last night. We sat in the other room and absolutely loved and enjoyed it. I had a lavender drink and it was delish. This place is a GEM and you should absolutely check it out and support it if you're in the area. If you're not, well now you have a place I know you'll love to go to!
