I've visited this place a few times since I'm new to the area. During my first visit, I requested a pedicure and overlays on my nails. The woman who attended to me was quite rude and seemed unwilling to accommodate my preferences. Despite my insistence that I didn't care about the price, she kept bringing it up. This morning, I returned to get a broken nail fixed. The same technician attempted to pass me off to someone else and suggested I come back later. I offered to wait in case her appointment didn't show up. Instead of being courteous, she started speaking in her language and became rude again. If it weren't for my birthday dinner, I would have left for another salon. I insisted on getting my nail fixed, but I made it clear that I won't be returning. These ladies here today were brutal in their conversations amongst each other. They talked about every single customer in the shop including myself as if there's nothing better to converse about. Pure negativity. You can pretty much feel it the minute you walk in. Never once was there a greeting of welcoming you in or asking how you are, or anything. I get it, not everyone knows service but you don't need to speak English to show that either. The outcome of the work was basic. Neither am I picky. I just needed a fill and a pedicure. The service is great the day I got my nails done and my nails did turn out pretty! But, one of them chipped three days later, and I came back in to get it fixed, and they forced me to pay for it. I always go to same place to get my nails done, but today I decided to give another business some of my business. Bad decision. From the moment I walked in the vibe wasn't good. The usual pick a color. I grabbed a few of the color wheels and then the lady that was going to do my fill says, I can help you here. Okay, but I want to look at the colors first. When I sat down she handed me another book like color selection. Then she started having a long term conversation with the other ladies who where a few chairs down from her. I don't mind some chatting, but this was like a long lost friend type of conversation. She never asked me, how you doing today? Nada. Almost like I was interfering with her day. Next she put the acrylic layer on and then she started to file my nail. First one and she cut into my nail bed. OUCH. I just got up and left. If the owner is reading this, teach your staff to put the customer first. You can have your personal conversations when nobody's there or at least keep them to a minimum. Henry paid attention to detail and took his time on my nails. They were able to get me into an appointment right away when I had called. I had went in to just get a fill and to fix one of my nails as well as get an eye brow waxed... Nails: at first everything was perfect, I explained to him what I like and how long I want my nails. I have also explained that my nails normally last 4-6 weeks depending on the nail technician, but recently it has only been lasting for about 2 weeks before chipping or my nail completely falling off. Yes it looks beautiful for the first couple of days but before the week even ended I already had chipping on the Gel nail polish that I was told it would last longer. eyebrows.... My eyebrows were just very uneven, the lady who had sat me down to get my eyebrows waxed didn't even measure or look at evening out my eye brows. one side was shorter noticeably and the other was defiantly higher than the other. I expressed this to her that it was uneven and she said to use a pen to fill it in... :/ I do not wear make up and do not know I ended up paying about $75 including tips was way too much for just a fill and eyebrow wax. I've been coming here ever since they opened and I must say they are very hit or miss. I've had good experiences, a male who wears glasses does them amazing as well as the main manicurist (I think her name is Hannah?). I've learned that I have to be very particular with what I want, and sometimes even have to micromanage my manicure so I don't end up with cut cuticles. Sunday, March 4. Came in with my cousin who is a regular at Special Nails. This is my 2nd time and Tina did my gel nails. Although she was friendly she was a little rough and jabbed me underneath my left thumb which hurt. Then she said "good, no blood". My thumb hurt for 2 days after that. On the plus side I like that the lights that are built in to the station you sit at so that you just place your hands in there to set the gel on your nails. Maybe Emmy or Tina micht be good, or Dawn, but my provider was not very good. I received a trad manicure and the polish was slopped over my cuticles and the nail shaping was terrible - the nails were cut straight across and not rounded off. There was some shaping done but he started shaping deep into the nail fold. He did that thing with the cuticle nippers where the nippers aren't sharp enough, so they cute and pull. It could have been worse, I guess. My fingers were not bleeding and did not hurt, although the nail fold was uncomfortable. I had to file my nails after I left which caused the polish to chip prematurely. Staff and customers are nice. read more

I called special nail salon today to see if I can get a pedicure and the lady I spoke to said I can come in now. It took me less than 5 minutes to get there since I was at Safeway. When I got there they sat me down and were doing my pedicure. The lady who was doing my pedicure she seemed very rush and didn't put time at all on my toes that she didn't let the polish dry and applied the top coat and Smeared the polish. When I told her about it she and her coworker's begun talking about me in there language as if there isn't translation apps ? Like again that was her mistake , not mine. Poor customer service. I have been coming for 3 months and I really like Tina. She does a great job. Unfortunately my daughter got an Ecoli infection and was in the hospital for two weeks. I missed an appointment and by the time I made it in I needed a new full set. Tina got right on it. After I paid she reminded me to come back in two weeks. I said ok and started to leave. I was shocked that as I left the store, the woman on the front left side yelled "you lie, we not see you till next year". They put plastic bags over the bowl and add sliced lemons and flower petals into the warm water for your pedicure. However they don't really clean your nails fully. For example they will not remove hanging nails. They apply the polish very well. However when it comes to current nail fashion they are limited as to what they can do. Don't expect the current nail fashion of ombré nails or matte colored nails. Come here for something quick and basic. Also there were 2 women sitting next to me (one on each side) their service was better than mine and we all got the same pedicure package. They were given the menu to pick their pedicure package but I was NOT given the menu. I noticed they were much older than me and had coach bags. Anna wasn't there. The lady doing my manicure was nice but she couldn't understand me and she cut my natural finger nails down way too low...so low, she was scrubbing my skin with the file. She couldn't shape them properly and she was snipping at my skin and cuticles instead of clipping them neatly. She barely massaged my hands, but I still tried to work with her and be nice. The gentleman doing the pedicure barely scrubbed my feet. I asked him to do more around the areas needed, and that turned into a debate. He kept asking me if I wanted him to do more. I kept telling him yes, but he never did. Instead he kept justifying what he already did, and asking me to calm down (which really meant accept the bullshit and be quiet)! Then he asked if I want someone else to do it. I told him I don't care as long as they do it right. His response was I don't know if they'll do it right either, which changed to no one will service me. I asked who was the owner /manager. She just sat there quietly. When I tried to address her, she said No Thank you. I told her, I came here to relax and this was not relaxing at all. I could've stayed home and done a better job myself. She didn't care and said come to see Anna. They shouldn't have people working here that don't know what they're doing or are going to do a half ass job. Never going back. OMG Never again! Pure torture! I went in for a Pedi and it was so intense! It's like going to the dentist without novocaine. This girl was digging on the side of my nail bed with her cuticle tool. I finally yelled and told her to leave that toe alone! She started on the next big toe and tried to dig into that one. Even after she was finishing up she went back to that nail and wanted to start digging at it again. I had to tell her again to leave it alone!! After three months glad to get my nails done but wait my place did not reopen. Never fear looked on Yelp and took a risk. And it paid off. While I could not get in straight away I came back an hour later and was able to get the deluxe pedicure and gel manicure. After signing in and using hand sanitizer, my temp was taken and I sat in the spa chair divided by plexi glass. It's important to know that the process to checkin and be serviced was safe. I did not any point worry about that. And both staff and customers wore a mask. A moment to acknowledge Tammy who was excellent she did a through job and I was incredibly pleased with my experience. Had the most painful nail experience here yesterday. Went in for a fill on an acrylic set, and I get my nails done frequently (usually not here), I've been here maybe 2 or 3 times prior. And I have never ever had someone make all 10 of my nails/cuticles bleed in all the years of getting my nails done. My cuticles are now red, sore and irritated today, I have a few scabs forming from how hard my nails were filed down after she laid down the acrylic. The fill is also thick and uneven, after speaking up a few times about the bleeding and being unhappy with the evenness of the fill, I was so ready to get out of there. Definitely don't recommend. Today I was on a tight schedule decided to go to special nails. It was empty. The lady that was there called out someone from the back. Seem like she didn't want to work. I went in for DIP asked for DD29, a reddish pinkish orange, nice color. My nails were nowhere near that. She applied a BRIGHT ORANGE! I did bring it up twice that the color she applied was brighter/neon. She said yes but it looks nice! I'm sorry but WTF! The second time I brought it up she said "the color isn't going to be exactly like on the nail display." If I'm pointing to a color that's how o want them on my nails! Top notch nails and service . The staff is ALWAYS very welcoming and helpful and Emmy the owner is amazing. They have every color imaginable along with polish the comes in gel for nails and matching toe nail polish (never do you have to try to "come close" to match the colors again). Emmy carries rare and unique colors and finishes that I've never seen at other salons. I highly recommend having your pedicure and nail needs taken care of here...
