One day while considering having our backyard project completed, we were visited by Lonnie, a representative for Specialty Builders Inc. Upon hubby saying we were interested in working with his company, we were visited late that same day by project manager Omer (aka David.) Upon entering our home, Omer (David) was friendly, professional, and clearly explained the building process to us. After walking around our backyard space and taking measurements, we requested have a walkway built from our driveway to the backyard using stone pavers, gravel and plants for our sloped backyard, and something to be done with our spacious side backyard. We appreciated that Omer (David) shared our excitement about our backyard project and was very responsive regarding any questions or concerns we had regarding our backyard project and responded promptly to our text messages. We were excited and surprised when construction began the next day and were impressed by how quickly the construction team took care of weeds which plagued hubby for months. Whenever told Omer (David) In times that Omer (David) was unavailable, he sent his assistant Moses to physically come and provide status updates on our backyard project. After a full week of work by Omer's construction team, our backyard project has been completed and we are elated over the final result. We would definitely work with Omer (David) and Moses again in the future and would also recommend Speciality Builders Inc to anyone looking to beautify their backyard space. read more

If I could give them a 0 star review I could. I live in a new community in Banning, Ca. My wife and I were approached by a gentleman named Ron representing the company. He walked us through the process and everything involved to have my backyard done. The quote came out to roughly $23,000 for basic pavers and turf. While it seemed pricey they assured us everything that has to be filed to the HOA would be handled by them. My HOA required all new construction homes to have their backyards completed within a year of purchase and they assured me that they would handle the procedural processes to have all work approved and filed with the HOA. This took place in November of 2024, now in February of 2026 I am being held to a violation for no notice of completion by my HOA and must attend a hearing for not giving notice of completion. They are not even aware of the work that was done. Ron's partner (I think the name is Tyler) was the one that I provided all the necessary documents to. They alleged that they had a partnership as a preferred contractor with my HOA and everything would be done smoothly. Clearly this was at least incompetence or at worst dishonest business practices taking advantage of young new homeowners who had just started a family. They also assured me that the first three months of payments would be covered and that I would receive a check for it and I never did, when asked by me following up I was ghosted. Additionally the work was not up to the "high standards" they stated. When I was called by the office to give my approval upon completion I pointed out several items that caught my attention and was told by them that I have to say yes because it is easier for them to fix any issues through the warranty process, they were upset about my call as well and prompted an in person visit by them. We are both two full time professionals with a two year old so the issues fell on the back burner because we were just happy to have a landscaped backyard for our son to play in and celebrate his 1st birthday the next month rather than dirt. The main reason we chose this company was because they assured us they would remove the barriers of the HOA by handling it themselves, we feel cheated and lied to and has left us in a terrible position. If we had known that they were not preferred partners with our HOA we would have never done any work with them. Which why I am sure they brought it up in the first place. 10/10 would never work with this company again if I won't have to and would never recommend it to anyone else as they are clearly not fans of honest business practices. read more

This is a review after 1 year of completion of the pavers that were installed in my backyard (when the warranty expires ) I would say that in all honesty, the pavers were initially gorgeous, wildly more expensive than other places, but gorgeous. So you'd figure they would last a decent amount of time given the price, right??? Nope! One year later and my kids are rolling on their bikes on them like a mini roller coaster! It's full of waves bumps and is terribly uneven. I've tried to capture it in the pictures attached. There's weeds and grass growing through the cracks. I don't know if this is natural settling, but every contractor I've spoken to has said "they shouldn't be doing that if the foundation was prepped properly". Every contractor I've had come look at my backyard has commented on the poor workmanship of the pavers. You can notice the hills and waves in them immediately at first glance. I've tried contacting my salesperson Caroline, but I am not getting any kind of response. I guess since the warranty is up and they have been paid, they are no longer interested in standing by the quality of their product. So just be aware that you may also be paying for something very beautiful, but very expensive, that will only look great for a year. I wanted to epoxy my two-car garage, but this company turned out to be a complete scam. From the start, something felt off. The first guy who came to give me an estimate kept asking about my wife,if I was married, if she would be there during the appointment. Then he handed the phone to his "supervisor," who also asked the same thing. I realized later why: they didn't want me to have the option to say, "I need to talk to my wife" before making a decision. They wanted both of us there so they could pressure us on the spot. When the actual quote came in, it was outrageous. They wanted as much to paint my garage floor as another company quoted to build my entire backyard. As expected, they pushed hard to start right away,even offering to call a storage company for my classic car while they were standing in my garage. I told them no, repeatedly, until they finally left. But that wasn't the end. Within days, I started getting 20 calls a day from another "company" offering epoxy work,and asking the same questions about my wife. I eventually figured out it was the same people using a different company name to get back in the door. After a week of harassment, I told the "new" company to come over,just so I could send them right back. Sure enough, it was the exact same people from the first time. I warned them that if they kept harassing me, I'd waste their time by booking fake appointments, and I'd go to the police. Please be careful with these people. It's all one big family operation, they use multiple company names, and they're aggressive about getting into your home and pressuring you to sign. read more

Customer service is the worst they don't listen to you and I truly believe they don't care what you want they just want to up sale you things you don't want. The one time I inquired about a job the rep didn't listen to me and when I told him I don't want anything else just the one item done he called me rude and he would not work with me. I was the bad guy for him not listening to what I wanted. I wish he kept his word and they never returned. However. Have had several representatives knock on the door even though I have "NO SOLICITOR" signs posted. To many choices out there to work with, why choose this horrible company. NEVER!!!! read more

We came across this company by a sales person walking around door to door. We did need work done in our backyard so we were happy to get an estimate on the work. A bit pricey, but overall my husband and I agreed to get the work done. Our estimate was done my Omer (David) who was a very pushy salesman and a bit rude. Called me a "cold" woman. This was the first red flag. The work on our yard was to be done 2 weeks after we signed the paperwork since we were leaving on vacation. My dog sitter calls me 2 days later saying that there's piles of gravel and dirty at my front driveway. We never agreed to have this dropped off at my home 2 weeks early to inconvenience myself and my neighbors. We did not even get to enjoy our vacation as I was worried that my neighbors would call the city and get us fined. Thankfully the work was done the weekend that we arrived home. The job was well done but the workers broke 2 sprinklers in my front yard when placing drain pipes. David was notified that these sprinklers needing fixing and we have been left on read with no call backs from either him or their customer service department in over 3 weeks. The yard workers did not speak English and were drinking ON THE JOB. proof was captured by my ring cameras. I do not recommend. Please find a legit company with good customer service. UPDATE: Nema their customer service rep reached out to us and swiftly got our sprinkler fixed. A really nice guy. These people entered my family's front yard by negligently opening the front gate despite the 2 barking dogs behind it. One of the dogs is still missing and they have still not gotten an apology or anything from them. The salesmen didn't even leave a note or make any effort to inform us or stop the dogs from leaving. He just left his mess like a child and we would have no idea if not for our neighbors Ring catching him. How incompetent do you have to be to not think "Maybe I shouldn't try to enter the area with 2 animals not wanting me to be there". I wouldn't trust these guys for any decision, let alone a building one. read more

These guys employ the dumbest door knockers. If you give them a chance too they totally blow it. They recognize zero social cues and have no respect for your time. They don't show up on time to appointments and don't let you know they'll be late either. And they will continue to send new person after new person who will do the same thing. Where do i beginning this is my second review the last one i posted i was asked to take it down once the work they failed to do they finally got completed so there's that. This project started DECEMBER 15 and didn't get done till i wrote the 1st review and they completed the protect MARCH 5. This company's communication skills are very poor we got our work started and they told us it was gonna be done one day then no one would show up or say anything. Work finally got done besides the flowers we were promised 6 plants in total. My husband would get left on read and it took us a few weeks to even get a response only because i wrote the 1st review. the initial seller (NOAH) didn't even respond to my husband his assistant (KIM) was rude because after my husband texted her she called once and couldn't answer and used that as an excuse when they spoke on the phone again she said "i tried contacting you" mind you she only called once after not answering his text and even after that she didn't answer till the 1st review. When they finally sent someone for the flowers they sent an old man with his white poodle in the car with no idea what flowers we even asked for. He also asked if we were going to plant them we were shocked and he asked to take down the review. This old man went to Lowe's and came back with our plants when he gave back he planted our flowers and just left the dirt on top of the newly decorative rocks. We paid for turf,decorative rocks concrete and flowers. So far concrete has been the only thing they didn't mess up on for now. The Turf they use is really cheap 5 months in of washing and rinsing everyday spending water which was the whole point not to do it still has a strong urine smell that has been impossible to wash out. Highly don't recommend this company cheap work for expensive pricesl. read more

UPDATE: Ironically, after leaving this review, there was fraud made on my credit card the very same day I left this review. They did keep documents with personal information, and they refused to let me keep it. I should have just taken it forcefully. Coincidence?? Becareful. Michael and Ethan were the consultants that came into our house. Gave the impression they were nice and knowledgeable. They were not. Went to places in our house without asking. We felt very violated. When we declined their ridiculous estimate of 55k to redo our yard, they started to insult us and became personal. They are scam artists. We have had to completely redo what this company had done. They didn't use the correct sand for the pavers and it all washed away. We got the the correct sand and wow it stayed. That tells me that I was charged for material they didn't even use. All the rock they put at the side of the house fell under the fence into our neighbors yard since they did not use edging. There are a lot of sagging in the pavers which tells me they didn't use the correct base. On top of not being up front on how the financing worked. Now we are stuck with a payment that is fully front loaded with interest. It will be years until we can pay the actual amount down. Total scam on the amount for the work since it is falling apart. I am sure they will say warranty but why would I want this company on my property again. Not to mention after my first review I was harassed and stalked to remove it. Seeing all these other reviews it seems like this a recurring occurrence with this company. I wanted to update with more information so people do not fall for these tricks. Mikey and his crew did a great job. They were quick and efficient...and easy to communicate with.

I requested a quote and they were very quick with their response and able to come by my house that night. This was the first company or many I had lined up to get quotes on renovating my backyard. I can appreciate the prompt response and ability to come to my house for a quote that same day, however the positives ended there. Two people arrived to my house, David and some woman whose name I forget. They were pleasant enough and continued to tell my husband and I we would be qualified for their "program," that there was only a limited amount of funds for in each area. They didn't elaborate further on what this program was or what exactly these funds were, but I figured it was some sort of financing option. After taking some measurements they insisted on coming inside of our home to go over the quote. I really did not want them inside of my house, but they continued to insist. This was my mistake. After showing us the quote for the renovation, my husband and I thanked them and said we would be in touch within a few weeks to let them know if we wanted to move forward with their company. They asked us what our hesitation was and we were honest and told them they were one of many companies we had lined up for quotes. It must have taken another 40 minutes to get these people out of my house. They asked us what our bottom line was and continued to tell us about the "program" they had for our area. They also made up a story about adding the supplies for our project onto another order to cut costs. After telling these people I had worked all day, I was on call for the evening and could be called back to work at any time so I would like to shower and go to bed, they STILL could not get the hint to leave. My husband finally had to basically kick them out of our home. The woman stated she would follow up with us in 48 hours, and never did. I wish she would have so I could tell her personally that we would never choose them or recommend them to anyone solely based on how aggressive and pushy they were with us. I knew the company name sounded familiar so I reached out to one of our neighbors who said they ghosted him once their project was finished at his house. He made several attempts to contact them to fix problems on their project and ONLY returned his calls when he told them he was a real estate lawyer. read more

I received verification from 3 different people in two different departments over at CSLB that they do not have that rule/law or anything close to it for getting estimates. Waste of time getting a quote. I got home from work and was met by someone walking around my neighborhood, asking if we needed any quotes on projects. My neighbor and I were just discussing replacing the fence and going halves. So, I said sure. That was a mistake. Adam (Sales Rep) showed up an hour later. Nice guy! However, this company sucks! After talking with him for over 2 hours, he quoted us $16,500 for a 120 ft vinyl fence. BUT wait, there's another project he's working on a couple blocks away. So if we make a decision today, he could take $2k off, and if we finance, he could take off a little more. He didn't know that I had already researched around how much this fence should cost, which was $5K to $6K at the most. I laughed at his quote, thinking he said $6,500 at first, but then realized he said $16,500. WHICH IS RIDICULOUS! I got a feeling all they do is sub out the work, and also looking at the reviews, they probably pay for them. Adam is a great, likable guy, but no better than a used car salesman. I got two other quotes: Hemet Fence at $5,014 and T3 Fence at $5,150. WASTE OF 2 HOURS!!! read more

This company should be reported to the Better Business Bureau (not off the table as yet). After receiving a surprise solicitation call from a woman claiming to be from this company on a couple Saturdays ago, 'Mikey' showed up as scheduled on that Monday to evaluate the location of a point of breach in the roofing that permits entry of water after heavy rains as evidenced by water stains and bubbling in the ceiling paint of our second floor bedroom. He did not go up to the roof to look. He did view the suspect area for him to possibly determine evidence of same from inside our attic. I made it convenient for him to use our ladder, it being handy. After he checked the attic location in the vicinity of the chimney, he wrote up plans to have someone go onto the roof, remove X-number of roof clay tiles to create a seal around the base of the chimney then replace the moved tiles. He came up with an estimate - put it in writing on the company forms, while offering me to make the down payment and remainder of the work order cost upon completion of the project. Mikey then said I would receive a phone call from the company by Friday or Saturday to schedule the project. Nobody called me since Mikey's visit and today makes it 7 days past the Friday. Peculiar was that that Saturday, the same woman (by the sound of her voice) called soliciting their company's services asking me if I had any need for any, to which I responded asking her the status of the pending work project already in progress - to which she stated she had no idea about it. Mikey never signed the "contract", and the forms lacked any worker order number or other trackable info, aside from him leaving with the original of the carbon copy a stated. I called the company's number as provided and was given a different number to call. This I did and the person answered, "hello"...I had to ask if this was the company in quest, and she said 'it was',,,,, she said she couldn't help me with the issue but would have 'Mikey' call me. In the end, next Monday would be 2 weeks since Mikey came to the house - with follow-up BY THE COMPANY, I sent an email to the company explaining the above letting them know I believed the contract to be null and void so I said I was withdrawing from their complete lack of customer service in the matter. I made sure to say that tentative customers should not have to call and call and call the company back to find out anything. Basically, this company abandoned me as a potential customer. I stated I would be contacting another company to help me out with my leaking roof problem, I've yet to receive an email response as well. I do not wish to have anything more with this company due to this bad experience. I would recommend researching several companies before signing ANYTHING with this company. The only service they provided was lip-service. I too would give this company ZERO stars. read more

I strongly advise against using this company. Initially, Mike and Thomas seem personable but they'll say anything to close a deal. A major red flag from the start was how rushed and pressured the estimate process felt. The only reason we proceeded with the project was because of the appealing financing option, which included an offer to mail us a check to cover the first four months of the loan. However, communication has been terrible and they failed to deliver the check before the first payment due date. While the backyard was completed, there were issues that required attention. For example, the sand between the pavers wasn't properly sealed which caused a mess. When we reached out to have this corrected, Thomas became defensive, called us ungrateful, and reminded us that we had signed a contract. Although the issue was eventually fixed, the unprofessional and unnecessary handling of the situation left a bad impression. Additionally, we were promised lights for our front steps, which were never installed, and a reimbursement for HOA fees, which we never received. Attempts to escalate the issue by contacting a manager were useless; the woman just said the project manager would call us back, which never happened. Overall, I'm extremely disappointed with the lack of integrity and poor customer service from this company. read more
