This company is a joke. For the last 5 months I have had a salesman at my door every 3rd week. The last set was 2 young girls who were absolutely rude. After another visit today I attempted to call the company to ask them to stop coming by. Ive tried nicely telling salesmen no, been rude, ignored them and now calling in. The scheduler i spoke with told me its their job to go door to door and they wont stop even if I ask. This company is going to harass you and bully you into hiring them and from what I can see on the reviews, they dont make up for it with service. Two very unprofessional younger gentleman came to my house as they were going door to door. They knew absolutely nothing about what they were talking about and sounded quite ignorant. They were pushing very hard to get me to schedule an estimate even after I told them I didn't have any projects in the works. They must get a commission for each estimate they get scheduled. Good companies do not need to go door to door looking for work. I would also be worried to hire a company that offers too many services. EDIT- 9/1/2022 Spoke to Matt who said he was in customer service and then when he showed up at my house is actually an architect (yet again with the lying) He asked what it would take to retract my reviews and complaint to the BBB. I mentioned for them to hold up to there end of the deal that they gave me in writing via text for my front yard to be done. He said how about a "donation" to the local elementary school/fire department. Waited over 1 week for a response and he stated that they won't do the work they promised in the front as they do not want a possible issue to happen with that as well. If this isn't PROOF to STAY AWAY I don't know that is. Specialty Builders is THE WORST company I have ever dealt with in my entire life! OMG please please STAY AWAY from them. Ben, the owner's son, is a great salesperson/politician in a sense that he promised the world and didn't deliver on any of it. We officially started our project January 25th is the first day the contractors came out to do our backyard and was told from the time they started until completion would be no more than 5 week. They JUST finished the end of the first week in July after many many obstacles. I specifically stated to NOT start unless you are able to come almost every day and complete in time allowed and yet I was lied to, similar to many others writing reviews. Ben also was supposed to show up for a follow up appt in March and after being 3 hours late is when Mike, Ben's superior, got involved. Ben ended up driving to the hospital as he was sick with covid. ben was on his way to my house SICK and thought that was OK! The contract states payment isn't due until completion and yet I was threatened multiple times by Ben's superior, Mike. They then hired this guy, Avi, who was supposedly going by to check on the status of the project. He decided to walk into my backyard without even knocking on my front door almost causing some major chaos including calling the police. He then proceeded to come by on a evening Mike knew I wouldn't be home to have Avi go by and yell at my wife asking for money, even though Ben told us they wouldn't be asking for the money. She called me crying saying she didn't feel safe in our OWN home, I called Mike who basically called us liars and almost had to call the police AGAIN. I was then told I was "picky" for wanting the workers to come back and fix the items they didn't do correct in the first place. I ended up telling them they are done even though a few things weren't done. I spent close to a total of 45-50 hours of MY TIME while I am working 10 hours a day from home dealing with Ben and Mike, along with trying to get a hold of the owner who always happened to be "out of office or unavailable". The ONLY person who was helpful was the girl who answers the phone. I even tried talking to "Danielle T" who replies to the back messages on here and she was always "unavailable" as well. I had to go back to therapy because of the madness that occurred dealing with them. It is DISGUSTING how rude, disrespectful, and heartless they all are. They kept saying that if I don't pay before there work completion I'd get sent to collections, called there bluff and they suddenly were nicer and helpful. They kept saying how they need the money so badly yet they show up in brand new Tesla's and live in Simi Valley, a very rich area. I had to spend more of my time putting together a timeline of the days they came and what they did or didn't do and pictures as they kept "promising" the world. A house 2 blocks away was also getting work done dealing the same issue and when I questioned Ben and Mike they would get mad and say none of my business. I am only writing this because it didn't sit well with me and has been bothering me since..... Last week I called to request a consultation for a new door installation. The guy who answered stated they could definitely assist me. He first asked for my name and address. He then asked me for my "Marital Status". What does my marital status have anything to do with a door installation, I said. He then asked again, not giving me a reason for the question. I then told him that was irrelevant. He told me he had one of his guys near my area that same day. I agreed. 30min prior to the appointment, the same guy called me and stated they could no longer make the appointment and will call me back the next time they will be in the area. 1. What the F*ck does my marital status have anything to do with this?!? I have NEVER been asked that question. 2. As a business, wouldn't you want to RE-schedule? I normally don't write reviews but their scheduling and timing is pretty awful. We scheduled the first time for a free estimate, they setup an appointment for Tuesday. Okay, sounds good right? 10 minutes later, they called back and said it's booked on Tuesday so we rescheduled for the following day, Wednesday. We waited past the appointed time and they called back and said the appointed personnel can't make it and "will call me back" to reschedule again. We waited 2 weeks with no call back to reschedule. I ended up calling their main line and asked about the no call back. I wanted to give them another chance with all the other positive reviews. We setup the appointment for the same day and after the appointed time past again, they called back and said the personnel is stuck in traffic and they wanted to reschedule... again. At this point, I ended up canceling it. I'm sure their work are fantastic but just trying to get an appointment for a free estimate is this awful, I can't imagine how their timing is when they actually get my business. read more
