I have no idea why I opened the door to the owner, Mark, 25 years ago when he cold-called on me one random afternoon. But I did, and as soon as he started showing me all the great items he had in his truck, I was hooked! I've been very happily buying fantastic-quality frozen food from him ever since. When my kids were younger, I bought a lot of his prepared items, like stuffed chicken breasts. But now I buy mostly fish and I love it! My top 3 are the ahi tuna, king salmon and coconut-crusted tilapia. I buy these over and over and have always loved the quality and the convenience of having a full freezer. I've been ordering from Specific Pacific for about four years now. I love to cook and I count on their high high-quality fish and meats. Every once in a while I purchase one of their ready made dinners like their wonderful stuffed chicken breasts or their crabcakes or Edamame potstickers, just in case I run out of ideas for my own cooking. Well tonight that really paid off. My son told me with one hour to spare that he was going to bring his new girlfriend home for dinner. He's 18 and a senior in high school and this was going to be a big deal. Thank goodness I had some of the Specific Pacific Shrimp Scampi in the freezer ready to gor. I quickly boiled a box of angel hair pasta,sautéed that incredible scampi and threw a simple salad together and within 30 minutes had an exquisite meal waiting for them when they arrived. The girlfriend raved about the scampi and said she couldn't wait to come back to try more of my cooking. Thank you Specific Pacific, you saved the day. Winner winner scampi dinner! Can't recommend this wonderful company highly enough. Highest quality meats, excellent premade fappetizers, dinners and desserts and super friendly service. You can't go wrong by ordering from Specific Pacific. Update: just had another dinner party, this time planned. Decided to serve Surf and Turf with my favorite Wagyu Steak and the new-to-the-collection, Ginger Salmon. Wow. I mean WOW! My friends were blown away at the Salmon glaze and tenderness. The Wagyu Steak (grass fed from Australia) is always a guaranteed win. Together, they are unbeatable. You must try! I've been a customer of Specific Pacific Foods now for a few years. I love the quality of the food and the convenience of always having something excellent in the freezer. Some of their prepared items make whipping up an excellent meal like Ginger Salmon or Rack of Lamb with of a fabulous NY Steak with very little work. I always get compliments on the quality of meats or Seafood when I serve anything to guests. And the service has always been super. I was skeptical of these guys at first... I mean in todays day and age, a random food supply truck knocking on your door is a little weird. But, we gave it a go, and I have to say, most of the food is pretty high quality. It definitely seems on par with mid-high end restaurant supply food. Everything is fresh-frozen, and if you cook, the quality is on par or above a premium grocery store. Im a bit of a food snob and an avid home cook, so I've avoided frozen products for a long time. However, now that I have a kid, having high end cuts of steak, lamb, chicken, shrimp and scallops in the freezer is a God-send. It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for. My faves: wagyu strip steaks, dry scallops, giant shrimp for shrimp cocktail, lamb racks, and....... the shrimp scampi. Im not one to use premade sauce, but the scampi is pretty fantastic. read more

Mark and Randy are an outstanding team. Randy knocked on our door one day and asked if we wanted Meat /Fish from Mark's truck. I was a little skeptical. But saw a neighbor making some purchases. So went out. and haven't looked back in 4 years. The meat and fish are beautiful, fresh, succulent ... not sure why the quality is so much better than anywhere else, but it is. We eat from our Freezer every day - casual or entertaining - and always to rave reviews. And our Puppies love the veal meatball treats they always seem to get after Mark has been around. In today's cynical world, it's hard to trust the door-to-door concept, but these guys are pros and it's worth the leap! read more

So I finally caved in and bought some chicken breasts from these guys. Totally not worth the money(works out to be almost $10. a portion...for frozen, non-organic chicken...) and also below average on taste/overall quality. The sales guys were slick and talkative but didn't know jack about their products. I did ask "where does your chicken come from?" He couldn't tell me! I decided to try it anyway, buying 8 stuffed chicken breast(4 Brie Anna & 4 of another.....so bland we didn't know what it was!). The product did NOT cook well the way the packaging instructed to! The family was not impressed at all. What did I pay for 8 frozen, poorly tasting stuffed chicken breasts? Almost $90.!!! NEVER AGAIN!! With Bristol Farms, Whole Foods, Manhattan Meats, Grow, Trader Joes and even Costco so close buy with really GOOD frozen/fresh meats....why would anyone buy this stuff?? read more

I used Specific Pacific Foods a lot while my kids were young because my time was limited and I'm not a fan of fast food. I found home delivery and dinner from freezer to oven an invaluable service and I think I saved a ton of money not running out to the grocery store every other night. When my oldest girls were very young we loved the chicken & beef tornados which are chicken breasts or fillet mignon wrapped in bacon and marinated in bordelaise sauce, and the italian style chicken fingers. The chicken fingers are all white meat chicken, lightly breaded not the crap you get at fast food places. My family ate a ton of marinated tri-tip roasts and cajun chicken breasts especially because I avoided carbs. All of the food that I have tried was top quality. My family is grown and I still cannot find comparable quality at any local markets. One of the reviewers said the chicken wasn't worth the price but I have to disagree, think about what you'll pay at a restaurant for a stuffed chicken breast. Hell think about what you'd pay for a burger now days...it's insane. My youngest daughter won't even eat steak from the grocery store...maybe that's not a selling point Only the best of the best for that kid. Here's a few tips that I learned over the years: 1) Their cook times were more of a recommendation or maybe they were directions for commercial ovens but I always had to adjust the cook times. Over cook and you cook all the stuffing out of it. I like the boneless skinless chicken breasts stuffed with peppers or pesto & mozzarella and I cook them from frozen on defrost for 16 minutes then 2 minutes on high. 2) They never have enough salt for my taste so I almost always add salt to the unbreaded stuff. The holidays aren't the same without the western chateaubriand and caramel apple granny. Their website is awful, but try not to judge them by their first online impression. read more

I ordered the lamb chop loins from here. For $96 I got about 12 pieces of 2 inch thick loins. Excellent quality meat and it was delivered right to my home. If I had more money I would definitely order more but to be honest it is a little expensive for my budget - I used a get $100 for $50 groupon for this order. The guy who delivered was really nice and showed me some of their other products but didn't push me to buy or anything. I'd recommend them for somebody who has a bit more money but little time to go out and buy stuff. They also have basically pre-made meals / marinated meats that you can just cook for a quick dinner. read more

I've been purchasing the highest quality meats and seafood from Mark for several years. I typically purchase the King Salmon, Filet Mignon, Chicken Skewers, Jumbo Shrimp, Wagyu Beef Burgers, and Mini Burrito Bites. I've never been disappointed in the quality. When I host a party, Mark is the person I call for delicious and unique appetizers. Our favorites have been Mini Sweet Potato Souffle's, Parmesean Puff Wrapped asparagus, Potato Latkas, Mac N Cheese Bites, Italian Chicken Fingers. Each time my guests comment, "This is amazing! How did you make it? Where did you buy it?". I get bored sometimes making the same old thing, and Mark always has something a little different for us. My kids get so excited when they know he's coming, cause it means something extra special for them. What's my favorite thing right now? Italian Chicken Sausage. I cook it up in a pan and put it with orecchiette pasta, broccolini, a little lemon, and olive oil. I put it in a quick recently and my guests said it was absolutely the best quiche they'd ever had. Gosh, I've been buying from Specific Pacific Foods since the 90's! The food is fantastic and they stand by their product. Get the Honey Ginger Salmon if you are having company you want to impress. While it's broiling, throw some thin spaghetting in a pot of boiling water. Let the salmon blacken under the broiler. By the end you'll have a thick sauce all around the salmon that you can use to toss the noodles. Saute or steam some sugar snap peas for a side. Wow! I got so many compliments, I couldn't admit where I got the salmon. I'm admitting it now everyone!! I'm an excellent cook and the food is expensive, but sometimes you just need either a day off, a helping hand or special occasion high quality or all three. Make your own dinner for company but order the caramel apple granny for dessert with ice cream. That's me. I love to cook except for desserts. Plus, it serves 14 but... each piece is separated by parchment so you can select how many pieces to defrost! Your guests will not have had anything like this dessert. Recently I tried the pork loins. These are awesome if you're empty nesters. I'm using them with all my pork tenderloin recipes and they're fantasticly moist. Also try "the sticks." Our faves are cajun pork which I serve with cajun broccoli slaw, beef bordelais (to die for) which I serve with homemade alfredo noodles and asparagus, mesquite chicken I serve with a giant spinach salad with poppy seed dressing (and if we've been good lately, cornbread). I never buy pre-seasoned meats at the grocery store's meat counter. They choose meats in the case that are starting to look "unfresh" and to hide it, these are chosen for marinades and slathered kabobs that are paired with cheap vegetables (yes, I dated a butcher from a high end store). Plus Specific Pacific's meats are not full of preservatives like factory packaged seasoned meats. They are expecting you to either freeze or cook right away so they use just the same seasonings like you would at home. Many of Specific Pacific's items come in vacuum sealed individual portions. Last minute dinner required? Just throw these in 2 inches of water in the sink, flip them in 10 minutes and 20 minutes they're defrosted and ready to cook. I also use ONLY their Italian Sausage. I can't find any substitutes around town for their sausage - it is so superior to any other sausage. They're chicken - you cannot guess this; almost NO FAT - I hate fatty sausage; flavored to perfection - I hate too much fennel. I use them in EVERY sausage recipe I have: lasagna, gumbo, ziti, sausage sandwiches (with grill peppers, onions and Japanese eggplant on sourdough bread.) Use their stuffed chicken breast for guests. These are NOTHING like the factory stuffed breasts you see in the grocery store freezer section. These are restaurant or homemade quality and look. Defrosting these on the baking sheet the night before cooking is the key to keeping them moist and tasty. I'm not being paid to write any of this.
