Spectrum put a return filter on my service line without me knowing. This means that it will interrupt the service line that it's on BECAUSE something in THAT line is causing issues for other users (this is a condo building). I had no internet, called it in and it turns out that the LINES were so old (running from the outside box to our unit), that "maintenance" put a "return filter" on my line and never called us. I called customer service for a credit and they said that they can only offer a "courtesy credit" for being such a dedicated customer. This comes from DREW on the "leadership team". When I had asked for the full credit from the dated tag, he said that he "can't work on hypotheticals" (return filter was not in the service call notes). I was given two options: 1- the courtesy credit of $25.80 or a 1-day credit for the service call. When I said "that it didn't make sense not to credit our account for the time that it was down", DREW said that "it sounds like you're declining the courtesy credit and that I [Drew] would be happy to apply the $5 one-day credit. Drew is not good at his job if the goal is actual customer support and problem solving without being a wise-guy/patronizing. 1- Terrible service 2- Terrible leadership 3- Awful customer appreciation I've been with them for 15-years, has gone from $42+-/mo to 88/mo and they gave me $25.80 on an $88/mo bill. The return filter was dated 04/12 (tagged). It wasn't in Williams notes though (the guy at the service call), so they wouldn't offer a credit for the actual down time. When he went to move in with me they told us he had been paying too much for last 20 years of over 25 because there were new deals. After 4 years of mediocre internet service I decided to change service providers. I returned the equipment to a brick and mortar location and requested that my service be canceled. Although I was hoping to be pro-rated on the bill for the time that I did not have the service, I was not counting on it. The next month, I was surprised to find that not only had I not been pro-rated a credit for paying for service that I didn't use, I had actually been charged for an additional month of service. I've never dealt with a company as shamelessly anti-customer as Spectrum. I canceled my internet service only 4 days into the billing cycle -- no contract, no obligations -- yet they're trying to charge me for an entire month. They flat-out refused to prorate anything. Worse, when I lost service multiple times in the past (including a stretch where I was down 8 days in one month), they only offered $0.80 per day as a "credit," even though the outages were completely on their end. They don't proactively issue refunds like Google Fiber or other modern providers do -- they make you chase them for pennies. I've filed a complaint with the FCC and my State Attorney General. An absolute scam. I called to cancel some services that I wasn't using and the rep I spoke to kept trying to sell me stuff instead of simply removing the services as requested. When I called to complain they only gave me roughly a half credit for the charge. Separately, when I called to cancel my service due to a move, I told them I didn't need them anymore because the person I was moving in with already had them for service. We cancelled our Spectrum (Charter) Internet on January 2, 2024 (the first day of business for 2024) after switching to Verizon. We had been with Spectrum Internet for over 14 years and for a long time, our service was fine, but it had reached the point where we were now paying $84.99 a month for internet and could not justify it with the sloppy service Spectrum (Charter) provided. We kept having outages and degraded service. We would call and complain that we were not receiving the quality of service we signed-up/paid for. Spectrum would attempt to say it was a problem with our wiring, or, the modem needed to be reset -it was none of those things. A Spectrum tech had come out several years prior and replaced our entire coaxial cable run from the telephone pole to our cable box. On February 21st, 2024, we received a bill for $84.99 for service for the month of January. I told them I am not paying the bill for a service I neither received nor used, the Spectrum Rep said 'we do not prorate, we are a subscription service, so the full amount is due.' I reached out to my State's Attorney General Consumer Protection Division and they contacted Spectrum (Charter) Internet on my behalf. This is part of the communication Spectrum (Charter) sent to my State AG's office" "...Charter's terms of service, subscribers are responsible for the full monthly charge for services offered on a monthly subscription basis. Charter bills at the start of a billing cycle for services for the entire month. This policy is also listed on customers' billing statements each month. If a subscriber maintains current services, there is no impact. If a subscriber terminates service in the middle of a billing cycle, the subscriber would not get a refund of any monthly fees paid, but that subscriber has the option of continuing to receive the service already purchased through the end of the billing cycle." When I contacted spectrum to ask about the gift card, I was told that I did not qualify for it as I did not sign up for three lines. I've barely had spectrum for a year at this current house, and already I've had to have someone come out 3 times to "fix" our internet connection issues. Ive called a multitude of times. I've gotten into a situation where management has accused me of lying about my daughters phone number and them trying to change my monthly payment from 5$ under the promo to 65$ for a changed number without being advised this would happen.
