Sort of silly to rate a satellite branch of Brighthouse but I have to say I'm so impressed. I got a letter from brighthouse to swap out my modem due to it being outdated. I was simply dreading doing this swap because the last time I was at BH HQ it was like the DMV. I noticed the letter had other locations included. wha?? This one was the closest to me and it was located in an Aldi shopping center. I walked in at it was modern, air conditioned and had several "lines" It was dead empty too. I walked up. Showed them the letter (no need they looked it up by the serial number) and promptly received my new modem. Easy peasy. Spectrum is the worst company I've ever had to deal with! They are thieves!!! I closed my previous account and opened a new one when I moved. I THOUGHT I was making payments at the new house but apparently I was paying at the old location even though I haven't lived there in two months! I brought them my lease proving I was no longer living there and they said a transfer of funds would be put in place within 24 hours. I called 48 hours later only to find out they won't be giving my money back because they can't prove I wasn't living there even though I closed the account. Because of the discrepancy of one of their employees not closing my account I have to pay for it!! I won't be getting my money back and I'm now past due on the new location. Just signed up, so I can't comment on reliability or other issues people have mentioned. I CAN say however that their pricing structure is ridiculous. Like most ISPs, they install a router/cable modem to connect to their service. UNLIKE any other ISP, they disable the device's built-in WiFi. If you want WiFi, or any connectivity at all since phones and tablets don't have ethernet, you have to pay an ADDITIONAL monthly charge. This is for a feature that costs them $0, and which all other providers correctly consider part of basic service. Typical greedy cable company behavior, based on exclusivity agreements that give them a monopoly. I really hope Verizon or some other ISP comes in and puts them out of business. read more

The worst service I have ever used. Every month they lock me out of my online account and do not recognize my password and I have to call and have them reset it, and it is not my error because I write the password down. I've called maybe 8 times now for this same issue and they only fix it temporarily. Also, I called them when I started the service to say that I did not want cable service and that I just wanted internet. Well my apartment complex backed out of a contract with them where the cable box was included in our rent, but we never had our services activated to begin with, so when they cancelled the contract, spectrum started charging us for the cable box again. Now my bill is $200 more than it should be and I have been on the phone with 3 different representatives and a supervisor for the last 45 minutes trying to get it taken care of. On the site they offered a deal for internet and voice for at 49.98 for the 1st year and 64.98 for the 2nd. I asked the rep twice if they were honoring the deal that was on the website since it states 64.98 for 1 year on other sites. He said both time yes. When I called the next day for my service time, I went over the billing again to find that they did not honor the deal online and they did the "bait and switch". I am calling to get this corrected and even showing them on the site and they will not honor the pricing that is clearly in writing. Here it is verbatim: "Spectrum Internet® + Spectrum Voice® Unlimited - Starting at $49.98/mo for 12 mos* Bundle price is $49.98/mo. Yr 1 & $64.98/mo. Yr 2; standard rates apply after 2 years. Qualifying bundle includes Spectrum Internet with speeds up to 100 Mbps & Spectrum Voice Unlimited. The worst experience ever. I call them every other day. I switched to spectrum cause they told me they would increase my bill if I wouldn't. When I went to the location to pick up the new modem, they confirmed how much the bill would be. Guess what? The bill came out way higher. I called may be 7 times, every time they say, or they provided you the wrong info and don't connect you to the supervisor or let me transfer you to our sales department or something like that... Than they said they can't lower the bill, someone provide the wrong info but I can change the plan and get double less speed than it will be less. I gave it a try. In a month, another bill came out, the same amount of money, I called back again, and they never changed my plan. So it has been 2 month for now. I almost switched to a different company but I don't want to drive out of my way to return the device. But looks like I should. We've been customers for probably ten years or so and the service has been reasonable. We've had spells where service has been less than good and getting a solution often takes so time. In my experience, the problems we've had involved equipment/lines outside of our house. My internet speed is very good. Customer service is pretty good at wanting to help, but if you have a technical problem, it can be frustrating trying to get it solved. The price is outrageous and we're seriously considering alternatives, but getting tv and Internet service is just a crap shoot. Everyone wants to promise the world, sign you up for two years and then jack your rates after one year. No one does a great job in the cable tv space but BH is probably one of the better players all around. read more

I always thourghly read my invoice, and it's a good thing I did. The invoice said on my next bill, it would be higher, but failed to tell me what my bill would be. When I called, I was informed my bill would be $30 more! Why wouldn't they tell me this on the invoice. I asked were there any deals or specials or maybe something for good customers. Nothing. Do not get any service from this company. Search elsewhere, a few months ago I have received a letter stating we are doing to increase your internet from 60 to 100 megabytes and not charge you more. This company is absolute garbage. They took over Brighthouse Networks, who had their flaws but was somewhat reasonable in an effort to satisfy the customer. They send me offers in via e-mail and mail addressed to me about the same service I had but at a cheaper promotional rate. I call them to inquire about the promotional rate, and they tell me that I am and existing customer and nothing is offered to me... only more expensive services that I don't need. Then they have telemarketers calling me at all hours trying to sell me the promotional offers that I "don't qualify for." Their service went down during the hurricane, which is understandable, but after 4 weeks and every single house on my block had service restored I was continuously given the run around. Nobody knew how to resolve this problem, so I cancelled my service, I had to fight to get the month I had no service removed form my bill way more than I should have. Every other day after I cancelled, I have been receiving telemarketer calls to sign back up and guess what??? I now qualify for their great promotional offers!!! Who knows if they could even get the service to work at my home now... we will never know. Keeping with their dishonest practice, they went back on their word and are charging me the month that I had no service again, this time without even sending a statement. They send a collection agency after me, but oddly I have an inquiry on my credit statement form Spectrum a week after I cancelled... they must know I have good credit and felt this was a good way to rip me off one last time. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY FROM SPECTRUM. I went with CenturyLink, and have been very happy. Their prices are better, their customer service is best for people who are hands on with troubleshooting with them, but are worlds better than Spectrum. read more

They just hooked up my wifi the tech guy was so nice I really couldn't have asked for better customer service. I use the wifi almost immediately and it was super fast, T-Mobile is probably happy I'm not using my data to stream Netflix any more he was also super quick with the install it definitely didn't take more then 30 minutes hopefully I continue to get great service. read more

Subscribed to Bright House internet 1st qtr 2015 on their promo deal that was good for a year. That year went by and my subscription went to the regular price, which was expected. Here it is 1st qtr 2017 and I'm getting ads for their merge (or buyout?) from Spectrum...whatever...as long as my services AND price stay the same. Forward a few more weeks and I get a letter in the mail stating that my promotional rate will be up soon and my subscription will be going up a bit more; this is kinda lame, thought I. So I call them just to get some info on what the new deals are and find out that I can upgrade to their 300 speed for just a bit more than my bill is going to be...awesome! I speak with the tech guy as well as "Chris" the sales guy (not sure of his spelling; I didn't ask how to spell Chris....because...5th grade spelling bee champ) and I find out there's just a measly $199.00 fee to switch over. Laughing at this, I asked "Chris" what the fee was for?? He (in his socal surfer tone) stated that it's to have the tech guy some to my house and switch the equipment. I told "Chris" that while I'm wiring my 107 year old house with cat6 cable and outlets, I can just do the switch on my own; I am giving them back their modem and just purchasing one anyhow. ALL he said to that was "okay". So, I told him that I'd call back to finalize the deal. After researching and settling on a modem, I called them back to say "Okay, I'm ready to go from 100 to 300 mb/s!" I got a very welcoming "Okay! Now you just need to pay the 199..." "Uhh, no." "We cannot waive the installation fee sir." "What do you do for two hundred bucks?! I can install the equipment myself..." "This is just what we've been told; we can't waive the fee." "So...lemme get this straight, you still need to charge me almost two hundred bucks just to switch my plan?? Even though you really DON'T need to send out a techie guy because he isn't going to install ANY of your equipment....bullshit." After speaking with several other reps and a tech person, who all have different responses, no one really gave me more of an answer than "We have been told that we're not allowed to waive the fee". I was heated, but not defeated. I decided to hook up the new modem and get them on the horn once again... THIS time I spoke to a nice lady that actually gave me the most honest answer- she said that she doesn't even truthfully know exactly why it's $199, and she doesn't like the "fee" but will eventually pay it herself. I had Brighthouse for years, but then realized, with the recent price increase, that I was paying $100 for about 6 channels that I actually watched. While looking at an ad for Spectrum ($90 for TV, internet and phone) I was told that $145 was the best that they could offer me I canceled the cable portion of my service, keeping the internet. About 10 minutes later, a friend called to tell me that his email had been bounced. When I looked, my storage on my email account had been reduced to 10MB (I have high-speed internet, which has a couple of GB storage) So, I called Spectrum and the "did not know why this happened" and restored my storage. When I returned my DVR and digital converter, I checked my email when I got home and my email account had been suspended. Again, I called and they "did not know why this happened" but restored my email account. So, Bottom line.....If you cancel any portion of your service, they will mess with you and try to make you regret ;your decision. Corporate greed, your name is Spectrum. read more

The phone was hacked with tec problems I took the phone back to the Semoran Blvd store where I bought the phone and service. Now their computer is sayin that I did not buy the phone at the store and I cant exchange in store. The phone is sent back to the warehouse and graded A. However the phone remains as the active phone and Spectrum's computers refuses to sell me another phone before I pay in full the first iPhone. Bad Technicians - Installation on a new house on April 12. Took several hours because they did not do the fiber install at the head end correctly. It took them a long time to identify and connect the fiber. Service call 2 days later because the box kept rebooting. The tech that came out for that said all the coax connections were loose. He tightened them and things were ok. Now May 3, everything was out after they installed service for the next door neighbor. I called and they said they would come out May 4 between 2-3. The tech they sent out arrived late and did not have a fiber kit. A supervisor had to come out and bring a kit. Found out the tech installing the neighbor took my working fiber rather than taking the time to diagnose the other fiber ports. Another day of service lost because of their inept technicians. I called to complain and all they would do is give a $10 credit for the 2 days of lost service. Nothing to compensate me for my wasted time due to their laziness. read more

Ongoing problem for 2 days: Called two days ago because got flyers in the mail advising Spectrum will be taking over Brighthouse and showing new prices for better service and internet speeds. I called Brighthouse and was advised these prices were for new customers and old customers (of 9 years) are not eligible for the new prices. Spent 22 minutes on the phone and was not helped out at all. Pretty much was told to deal with it and there was nothing else they could do. I was then transferred to the cancellation department and was hung up on before even speaking with anyone. Day 2:Was on the phone for 36 minutes reaching the cancellation/retention department. Spoke with one CSR who said the best they can do was kind of matching the new Spectrum prices, but could not explain the breakdown. She transferred me to another individual to help further and when I explained to him what was going on and that I would like the cost explained because I'm potentially cancelling my service, he hung up! Spectrum has taken away whole house dvr and I am not happy at all about it. And the spectrum installer gave us a faulty box to begin with. We knew it was faulty because some of the clock lights didnt work on the front, so it was obviously used and returned. We asked the tech when he installed the box and he said we didnt have a choice take the box or it doesn't get installed because it was the only box he had left in his van. So we were forced to take a non-functioning box that shuts off 2 - 3 times a day. So now I have to take a day off and go to a spectrum store to change out the box. Spectrum customer service is the worst service provider I've ever experienced in my life. Not only do they make you wait a very long time over the phone for a simple question, they do so in person as well. I wanted a box in the bedroom and made an appointment which I was told there was a 2 hour period on specified day. When they were long overdue to be at my home I called. The representative told me they would be there any second arriving at my home. Well an hour later, I had to call off of work waiting for this idiot, I called back and was lied to again. They never even called the agent to verify his location but I was told he'd arrive in a half hour. An hour later I called back and finally a dispatch person got a hold of the agent and I was told he can be at my home 6 and a half hours later than what I was told in the first place. At this point, I was tired of hearing so many lies I didn't know if he'd even be there by then or not so I told them to cancel it completely. I was trapped in my home waiting all day being lied to by several people and I missed a day off of work. In NY spectrum is forcing everyone to go digital, without a box you can't even get one channel. I'm sick of this service and their representatives. I'm shopping for a better service. In mid-March, Brighthouse changed the format on my DVR recorded shows listing. They made it much less informative and more difficult to navigate. I phoned them (waiting on muzac for 40 minutes for a live person) the same day they changed it, only to be told they had upgraded my system! More of an upgrade to their corporate coffers! The next morning I phoned again (waiting on hold another 30 minutes) asking them to put it back the way it was and was told that wasn't going to happen. My next call was to AT&T which also serves the Melbourne FL area. Since I was calling about new service, I got through immediately (lol). I was quoted a price for a bundle that included U-Verse whole house (had only 1 DVR with BH) , 12mbs internet (had 9mbs with BH) and unlimited phone (same with BH) guaranteed price for 2 years and for $4/month LESS than BH. AT&T had installation 2 days later.... and I couldn't be happier with the service after they rewired my whole house and yard with state of the art cables at no charge! On the morning of installation I cleaned and boxed all my Brighthouse equipment up and returned it to their Melbourne office, stated the reason why and requested cancellation of all service and account to be closed. That was March 13th.... it is now May 22 and in the meantime Brighthouse has had the audacity to bill me for April and I am STILL waiting for a refund of the UNUSED portion of the March service in the amount of $125.75 after calling them every week since. Bottom line... I will never do business with Brighthouse again. They obviously do not value the loyalty I had to them for over 6 years... Silver lining....AT&T has given me better service and more respect after only 2 months of our association. read more

I just moved and "upgraded" my Brighthouse internet connection. However with this new system we lose the internet for a minute every hour on the hour. This bumps the children off their games and forces us to reset many connections, like our smart tv, a few times each day. When we are working online at home we get bumped off webpages and lose work. Five service calls, two missed appointments (I waited for hours each time), one service person who gave me a fake phone number for follow-up, and hours on the phone before they admitted it was their equipment and there is nothing they can do. On one I have been on hold for over 2 hours after asking to speak with a supervisor for the rude customer service I receive from a rep name Janice. Still holding on that line. On the other been on hold for and hour now a rep Marnie pick up I told how rude the first rep was and that all I wanted was to reschedule an appointment she told me hold to to check the account and forgot about me oh wait she hung up on me.
