    Returning equipment
    Tracy B.

I needed to return some equipment as I cancelled cable services I didn't use. It's Sunday and I walked in about 12:30p to a store full of people scattered all about. As I walked to stand in line, the male employee asked if I had a return, to which I said yes. He annoyingly informed me that he was the only one working and that everyone in the store was in front of me. Then he suggested rudely that I go to the UPS Store, where they can take my equipment. I totally get that it sucks being overwhelmed and the only person working, however, it really doesn't take much to nicely say that UPS Store is considered a return center for Spectrum and that I could possibly receive quicker service with them. Of course, I left and went to my local UPS Store, where they were more than happy to help me. I hope the guy's day at Spectrum gets better.

While I was out of town, a task was given to The head of household.. Fix the problem with the cable box and the router.. Task was completed.. went to the cable office and waited in line for over 45 min on Monday. Came home with a new cable box and a router.. Nothing but problems.. our ring and Alexa devices are not working.. Plus our bill was hitting $180 a month.. Called today and the rep said to take back the modem, because it was outdated.. He was able to get us an appointment at the furthest store .. The worker at this store apologized saying the modem we were bringing back has a back up battery and that we didn't need to come to the store. He set up an appointment for the tech to come out on Monday.. We were able to reduce our bill and if he can get us up and running I'll be a happy customer!

While Elijah got me set up with my new Iphone purchase, I was able to help an older gentleman pay his bill on their kiosk behind me, so he didn't have to queue into the line.

This is not a corporate store. The young lady working there--who was also not well groomed--told me…read moreshe could not help and that it did not matter that I am paying for a phone with no service and cannot access my phone without Wi-Fi. Her explanation was, "I don't work for AT&T, I work for Prime Communications." She went on to say that the fact my phone does not work is "my problem, not hers," and that there was no one who could help me. She refused to provide her name, but gave me the district manager's name, Mr. M (I do not want to publicly criticize him since I have not spoken with him). However, she would not provide his phone number and claimed he could not be reached. I explained that without my cell phone I cannot access my apartment complex, complete two-factor authentication for work, or handle other important tasks. She simply shrugged and said "oh well." When I mentioned possibly seeking legal counsel, she responded, "Go ahead, I would love to see AT&T sued," again followed by, "I don't work for them." Keep in mind, this was my second trip to this store location, totaling about an hour in-store, in addition to 2.5 hours on the phone trying to prove my identity because "the data doesn't match," even though I was physically present in the store with my ID and they could clearly access my account with the same information. The AI chat assistant "Andi" and AT&T chat support have also been completely useless. I spent more than 30 minutes on hold only to repeatedly hear, "Work with me, it will only take five minutes to resolve your issue." After three weeks, no one--from the store or the national support office--has been able to activate my transferred line. Neither the store nor customer service can verify my identity without sending a text message to the very phone that has no service. Apparently, physical presence and a valid ID do not matter. To make matters worse, I received emails and AI chat confirmations indicating that an iPhone had been ordered, but the store claims they cannot even see the order in their system. When I originally signed up for AT&T service over the phone, I already had reservations and a bad feeling about proceeding. During the call, I could hear employees chatting, cursing, and discussing personal relationship drama in the background--it sounded more like a soap opera than a professional business call. However, the direct phone number was provided by my apartment complex, since AT&T is the only provider wired for the building. To AT&T's credit, the internet service works. At this point, unless a true corporate store can resolve this issue quickly, I plan to cancel the wireless service and move to another carrier, even if it costs more. A discount is meaningless when the service and customer support have been this poor. As for cancellation, I am not even sure how I am supposed to cancel a service when no one can properly verify my identity. I am seriously considering stopping payment if this situation is not resolved immediately.

Price went up without notification in under a year. There are better current plans (cheaper,…read morematches or exceeds all of the features). I gave an earlier 5 star review based on dishonest promises. Knife in the back type corporate business. Going into the store though Jasper was patient and fixed everything. I would give him 5 stars, but the person I talked to before him justified the price increase by saying I was notified (I verified I was not) and when I told him I wasn't said I couldn't raise my voice at him. I also did not do that. Unnecessary stress and an hour wasted due to shady business practices at the corporate level, but the store eventually settled it.

Over several day's, I have been trying to "switch and save" wireless phone carriers. The best new deal SEEMED to be with AT&T. WHAT started out to be a comfortable new monthly rate with a new phone went from around $50 per month (all inclusive), day's later increased to $108.00 per month. That and the new phone was taking over a week to ship to my home. After MANY hours on the phone with a robot (nearly impossible to get a live person on the phone or website), I was always referred to their websites AI named Andi. He couldn't help me either. I ended up finally talking to a live person to which I canceled this new "SERVICE". No attempts on their part to keep me (no retention department i guess), just a huge waste of my time. Buyer beware! Even though it's not perfect, I am staying with Boost Mobile carrier at only $15 per month.
