So, last week I was trying to help my friend set up his new smart TV. He's kinda on the old side and doesn't even have email or internet at his house. Her just has old style cable from Spectrum, you know the one with the cable box at each TV? I figured this new TV would still be able to connect to the cable box according to the instructions. After connecting the new smart TV to the box, immediately the TV went into a locked mode, asking to reset the parental controls! WTF? Tried rebooting and nope. So, I told him you better call Spectrum and have them come out here and help you. I read that the TV need WiFi and internet to do the initial setup to clear the input ports or something like that. So he got on the phone and the customer support person scheduled a guy to come out and help the next day. The guys showed up right on time, and called ahead even. I thought he's have a cell phone that had a mobile hotspot feature, but her didn't, so he installed a internet router and modem and then crawled all around under the house fixing the connections or whatever. He was there for like two hours! He got it all up and running and now my friend has cable TV on his new smart TV. The guy was super professional and didn't show any signs of frustration, said he crawls around under houses all the time. Spectrum customer service and technical service were 5 stars, fast and professional and included in your Spectrum service. No charge! read more

They've totally taken care of transferring one phone to another, also came out to our house and installed a new cable because ours was old and cracked. Zane at the store was great to deal with! Ok, lets get the negative out of the way. Spectrum is EXPENSIVE and they increase the bill every few of months. They really don't have competition in South Lake Tahoe. The positive...their service people are great! Ricky installed a new modem on my computer in less than an hour. I stared at the instructions and put the new modem aside for over 2 months. We sold our house and I closed my account, unaware, five days after the start of the billing cycle. I received a notice from a credit collection service for $117.00. We had used them for over twenty years. I was told point blank that no consideration would be given, that they bill monthly. Not even an email notice. Yeah I paid the damn bill but I'm upset. I have to give a shout out to all the employees here in South Lake Tahoe. Their poor store has the worst reviews so I was prepared when I went in. They couldn't have been more helpful!! I had a really difficult situation with transferring my business land line to a mobile device. Unfortunately several service representatives screwed the whole thing up linking it to wrong numbers and wrong accounts. It was an absolute mess and took 4 weeks! I did have to go into the store a few times to resolve this but they knew what they were doing and what they were talking about and actually explained what was happening and why, unlike anyone I spoke with on the phone. The heavy sales pitch isn't just annoying, it's dishonest. I agreed to an up-sell and ended up with $50 more on the bill, no explanation. Also after you return the cable equipment you need to call again to cancel cable or they won't take off the charge. That wasn't mentioned when I called to cancel. Rude rude rude. read more

I've been really frustrated with Spectrums customer service. The actual internet service works fine, which is great but it's been such a headache to deal with Spectrum. The people on the phone will tell me one thing and then I go to the store and they tell me another. I was Upsold on the gig internet and mobile plan which is outrageously expensive. Maybe it would be worth it if you don't have any other outside streaming or phone service, but that's not the case for most people. I told the lady who was setting my service up that I didn't need any of this; not a tablet, not a mobile line, not a landline, etc. I wasn't given what I actually needed. I wasn't even provided with options. I was automatically set up with the most expensive plan. I called to downgrade my plan and was switched to the basic plan for just internet but my bill didn't reflect this. My bill was still over $200 and I'm stuck with a tablet that I never wanted and stated that I didn't need. I was told on the phone that I could bring the tablet into a spectrum store, when I went in I was told they don't take it and to go to fed ex instead. I'm running around for a basic internet plan. Spectrum, please work on get everyone on the same page. I would love to be a loyal customer but this is quite frustrating. read more

The internet service was interrupted in the midnight and early morning after 12 hours of sitting without the service I called to the customer service for the first time. Usually we just wait for it to come back. The lady said that there are no reports on the service problems in our area and tried to resolve the issue. It was not resolved and the technician was sent to us. He checked the box outside the house and all the devices inside and said that there are no any problems. Meanwhile when he was still inside the service came back making everyone happy: 3 people working from home and the technician himself. When I received the bill I noticed $49.99 service charge and called billing department for the verification. I was told that they always charge for the technician's visit no matter what. In this case the technician provided the code " CUSTOMER'S EDUCATION" which cost money. Seriously? Did I ask you for the technician's visit or for any education - NO. From my vision you are supposed to provide service I'm paying for. You failed - fix it, failed again refund me for your failure, but do not charge for your failure. Spectrum's vision of the same point is different unfortunately. They do not bother to let you know that they will charge for the visit, they do it behind your back silently. I've learned my lesson always ask Spectrum what it will cost to restore the service you were not provided with, ask both the phone person and the technician. BE CAREFULL AND PREPARED! Up in the mountains, power outages happen. A few months back We had a black out. We lost cable for a week over a 4hr blackout. Id call CS and Tech Support, only to be on hold for most of the call. 1.5HOURS later, Im told to go to South Lake to get new boxes. I go to the SLT store and they only activate 1 out of 2 (me being a Customer, not knowing they need to be activated in the store). Another 1hr on the phone, no Cable still, We are told I need a Tech to come out 5 DAYS later, but they will CREDIT ME for all the trouble......Tech comes out, spends 5 minutes, fixed it and leaves. 3 days later, Cable is out AGAIN(NO POWER OUTAGE), I call and a 'Sales Guy' put me on hold SEVERAL times transfers me several times. 1.5 HOURS later, after listening to him say hes fixing it, we hang up..Im tired so go to bed. Next day, my Cable display on my TV looks like it did in the 1990s. I call, yet ANOTHER hour of HOLD and people giving excuses. Took 30 additional minutes to get a (you guessed it) TECH scheduled out here, 5 DAYS later, but I will see a CREDIT on my bill for the inconvenience! Tech comes, spends 10 minutes, telling me that a Tech on the phone could have fixed it!! I asked if he could ask them why my bill is so expensive, he tells me to CALL. :# I call after Tech Leaves to ask where my Credits are and why my bill for 4 boxes is close to $500??? Im being told that I have an OLD PACKAGE, that SHE will fix it...Yet ANOTHER HR of hearing typing and HOLD, and she says she fixed it... That night, my Cable display on my TV looks like the 90s AGAIN, called, put on HOLD for OVER an Hour. FINALLY get to a TECH Specialist (pfsh), 45 MINUTES LATER, they FINALLY FIX IT. Im put over to a Dept to see what the CREDIT is.... They are very unprofessional. The girl's name is Stephanie at the front desk and she treated us very rudely and wasted half our morning. Our Spectrum service technician, Brian, was outstanding. Our TV service in Meyers / South Lake Tahoe had failed, and he came out on the service call and successfully troubleshot two separate hardware problems. One problem was a failed Set Top Box and the other was the need to boost the weak signal coming into the house from the outside Spectrum cable service. He spent nearly 3 hours providing a complete solution for the complicated network topology at the house here (multiple televisions, two phones, and internet service). He even made a special trip back to the warehouse 10 minutes away to retrieve a piece of equipment needed to boost the signal into the house. She knew him by first name, and clearly wanted to help him first. When I finally get to talk to an agent, the young gal tells me they cannot access my account. They can only help if you have internet and tv. Cannot help with mobile only customers. I was directed to the store by the spectrum phone operator. I have been a spectrum home internet customer for 2 and a half years. Recently we decided to change our mobile service from t-mobile to spectrum mobile. So on Monday I went into the SLT store which is my local store. I encountered Lorenzo immediately. The first impression was that he was eager to help me with my issues. I told him I would be back later in the day with my family, so we could buy 2 new phones and carry over my current phone or possibly buy myself a new phone as well to their services. We came back to Lorenzo, who helped us again. And stated my phone would need to be paid off from t-mobile first but that my phone was compatible with spectrum service. So we ended up being at the store for 3 hours. We purchased 2 new phones and 3 phone lines since my phone. I would pay off at t-mobile the next day. He said perfect and assured me my phone was compatible. So I paid my phone off and came back the next day to Spectrum. I am expecting to walk out with amazing cell service. Like my family members all have had since we switched to spectrum the previous day. That was not my experience. I was helped by an amazing associate, Aimee. She worked for another 2 hours trying to figure out why I couldn't make or receive phone calls or text messages. Brandon and Dawson also came to help to see what was going on. Those 3 employees, Aimee, Dawson, and Brandon, are outstanding. They called their tech support and got on the issue. I ended up having to leave. Still without being able to call or text. But I was rest assured that they would figure it out for me. Aimee called me later that evening to give me an update. She asked if I would be willing to come back to the store the following day, which was a Wednesday. To see what else could be done. I came back in at about 10:40, and Dawson was their to help me. I wasn't even in the store for 5 minutes, and he was the IMEI is not compatible. Turns out that Lorenzo didn't even check to see if my IMEI on my t-mobile phone was compatible. He just looked at my model. Which is not how spectrum checks phone compatibility. So I paid off a phone that wasn't even able to transfer over. His lazy sales cutting ways cost me 8 hours of my work week and hundreds of dollars . When I could have just bought a new phone the very first day. His cutting corners to lie to me just to get a sale. That is not how you build customer relations. The way Dawson, Aimee, and Brandon stepped up to save the sale and to help me as a person and a customer was above and beyond. I will never ask for or talk to Lorenzo again. I had an incredibly horrible experience with Spectrum and they really let me down. Suffice to say - Spectrum sucks, what a 3rd rate carrier - NOBODY should use Spectrum. I had requested if service was available at my new home, to which they proudly exclaimed that they had service on my street. So I set an appointment for a month in the future when I was moving in to my new home. Upon arrival the tech told me that there is NO service anywhere near my home. He went on to say that he himself was sent out to survey the location 3 weeks earlier and he disqualified the location as not having service. But nobody contacted me until the same dude showed up to tell me he couldn't do the install. What a joke Spectrum is! Stay away! Now I cannot get a refund and when I call I'm left on hold for hours. And to make things worse, I have to work from home and I have NO internet connection because Spectrum was unable to follow through on their commitment and there's no way I can get an alternative installed within days. read more

PLEASE BE AWARE: Spectrum / Charter Cable in South Lake Tahoe, California has very poor Customer Service Communications and follow-up. I sold my home and contacted them to make sure I paid any final bill and that they could confirm that I had cancelled the service. Due to the fires where I lived, their offices, like my home, were evacuated and I was not able to speak with anyone. I left messages and asked for a call back. I even emailed them. No one ever called me back, but today, 3 months later, I find out that they sent me to a collection company called Sunrise Credit Services. Sunrise Credit Services was very rude and threatened me about the unpaid bill. I called Spectrum immediately, asking why I never received a call or a bill. They had my phone number, my email and my mailing address. I even paid my bills with auto deduction from my credit card and never cancelled the auto deduction. They had no idea why my account was sent to collections! I paid this bill the minute I knew it existed, but I am very worried that they have already negatively affected by credit score and shared my sensitive personal information with a questionable collection agency. I am so very disappointed in the way I have been treated by Spectrum after being a good customer for many years and ALWAYS paying my bill. I'm sure Spectrum could not care less about my experience as their Yelp rating is already extremely low, but I wanted to warn other customers of the risk you take doing business with this company. read more
