When in Imperial Beach, this is often the very last service station before you hit the Interstate 5…read morenorth/south freeway entrances and it has a car wash too! Though not the cheapest gas in the South Bay (today unleaded regular was going for $4.49 /gallon,) Shell does offer good quality gas and you get a discount on the Plus or Works car washes if you put in at least 8 gallons of gas or more. This Shell also offers a convenience store, if you want to stock up on munchies and drinks before you hit the road. The car wash is not bad and I like that they have those soft bristle brushes at the end which gently caresses your now clean car, dry. The only reason I deducted 1 YELP STAR from this Yelp is because it kind of is lame that Palm Shell Carwash is right across the street from a really low-priced AM / PM Arco gas station on Palm Ave. This station usually beats the Palm Shell Carwash price by sometimes .15-.20 cents per gallon! I suppose if you have the time and the initiative, it pays to shop around down there for reasonably-priced gas. The car wash discounts are nice added incentives to fill it up with that blend of nitrogen-enhanced Shell gasoline that I know my car seems to love so well.

The gas prices are not the best, but the pumps and islands appear to be in great shape. The convenience store is called IB Mart and is stocked up with plenty of goodies for the road. Payments can be accepted both indoor and outdoor. Because it's on the corner near a lot of stores (in particularly the 99 cent store next door), you see a lot of walkers frequently cutting through to get to the other side. Some are potentially homeless. It's not crazy out of control, but I personally would only gas up here in the daylight. It's on the corner not too far from 5N/S freeways. Getting out is tricky. One exit requires a right turn only which means you have to drive down a while before being able to make a u-turn (whomp!). The other exits into 4 lanes at a stoplight and requires that someone lets you in. Not convenient if you need to get over to the left turning lane to access the highways. Le sigh... But hey, if you need gas, you need gas. Prices here are mid-range comparing to other stations in the area. If it's not urgent, feel free to pass it up.

I just went to this gas station for the first time I was here in San Diego and going to Los Angeles…read moreand I saw that it was cheap so I decided to go there, I ordered $20 of gas so I could fill up the tank, when I turned on the engine I didn't see it until few minutes after and I saw that it wasn't even full, I know how my car is, and usually it'll get full with $35 it's a four-cylinder, I had half of my tank so that's why I put $20 and I knew it was going to be full, I also asked the person that if they would give me the change if it was less than the 20 to get it all full, he said yes, but after minutes when I saw my car it was like a quarter behind the full tank, I don't know what I'm gonna do but this is unbelievable I didn't even knew that was possible here in United States, because I think they are stealing and that the prices are not accurate, I can even say that what its saying on the receipt it's not correct, I don't know if I should go on a legal process because this pisses me off a lot and I don't know how many people they have been stealing, but this is not possible, I am really upset because of this because how they are being like that, they're not making things correct and stealing everyone's peoples money!!!
