Customer Service is not as great and doesn't really greet you the food bread quality is 100% the drive just be careful not once I went there twice thry overcharge. It's a family run establishment Panaderia Gonzalez not a big bread store, but because they sell lots of bread, the conchas, panaderos, empanadas, puerquitos, mantecadas, etc are always very fresh. I also like bread here as none of the sweet breads is ever overly sugared or overly sweet. Customer service has always been excellent in the interactions I've seen and been involved with. A few months ago I misplaced my wallet after buying bread at the panaderia. I checked my truck, then came home and still could not find it. I called the bakery and a young lady shared earlier in the day, they had found a wallet. I described it for her and she said, yes it was there! This family and it's members saved me. Best panadería ever. I swear there isn't a better panadería in entire SD! Their pan dulce is so so yummy very delicious very soft! Anything you get from conchas to empanadas are so delicious. The bread is very fresh and you can tell right away is made daily. We like their bread so much that for día de Reyes we also got a rosca. And it was amazing! Best rosca ever better than northgate better than anything else. Even the sweet bread is better than panchitas. I really recommend this place! It is worth it and it is amazing! My feiend who is like my sister is the one who introduced us to this amazing place! And she actually is the one bringing it to us! Awesomely affordable fresh baked goods! Majority of the baked goods were $0.65 and coffee is $1.50. There's a parking lot within the plaza and a lot parking spaces available on a Saturday early afternoon. Once upon arriving, you can pick up a black tray and tongs to select which baked goods you want. There's three tables that can seat around 4 people per table. read more

I love the consistency this location has to offer quality sweet bread so fresh that you can smell it from the outside surroundings it makes you crave it to the fullest. Today I bought 21 assorted Mexican breads for my visitors at home and loved the presentation the staff had to organize all the breads to look presentable. Panaderia Gonzalez is a nice little gem hidden in the south bay. You'll find blue stacked trays of a variety of pan dulce. If you get here early you will have a great variety to chose from. If you get here in the afternoon to get your pan dulce for tomorrow, not so much. Unfortunately the store is pretty warm, no AC, as soon as you get in there it pretty much is just the warmth from the baking and the sun. Lastly the place is kinda a downfall due to the inability to pay with a card. Only cash here, no futuristic payment options here! This place would get better reviews is there weren't so many other more convenient options. Almost every grocery store has just as many options for pan dulce, a huge amount of variety in all hours of the day and located everywhere. I really want to like this place but it really isn't the greatest. I want to give this place 3 stars but I really can't bring myself to click that third star. read more

Don't know why this place has bad reviews honestly. Excellent service right now with COVID protocol in place, signaled distance stickers on the floor. You are not allowed to touch the bread which is excellent for higiene in my opinion. I saw they had hand sanitizer as well and the floor looked very clean. You tell them what bread you want they pick it for you. Amazing tasting bread, doesn't taste super sugary which I love. The orejas are nice and crispy, and the birote smells like heaven. Also had a tortuga I think that's what it's called it tastes like spices and not just sugar. This place is cash only, and to the person who complained that they only speak Spanish maybe learn some Spanish so you can enjoy some excellent bread and you stop being so rude. read more

Forget Panchita's bakery, forget Northgate pan.... this is way better. Soft, not too heavy, delicious. The women who work here are so nice, the place is clean. I bought some bread at the bakery on Palm Ave. just two days ago 6/4/15. After my girl tasted the bread, she turned around and asked the cashier if the owners where the same. He said NO! We paid for the 4pieces of bread, which was about four bucks...expensive for what we got. If it where the original Gonzales bread, we wouldn't be complaining so much. But this bread was just like the crap you buy at Northgate. I think a bit worse. You just can't get decent mexican bread anymore. I kind of like the sweet bread La Bodeguita has. read more

It was listed under coffee and tea places, but when my dad and I got there it had a very sparse selection of those such drinks. I didn't expect it to be like starbucks quality or anything, but it was very dissapointing. We ended up not buying anything, though they had a large selection of pastries. The location isn't the best and the shop itself is a little bit lacking in the looks department but the pastries didn't look bad. We were completely dissatisfied with the drink selection though, so if you're looking for a cute little cafe, or somewhere that you can get a quality coffee, tea, or specialty beverage I would look elsewhere. read more
