He did an excellent job in communicating Speedy Glass' process of the windshield replacement, explaining all the items on the invoice, and keeping me informed of the status of my windshield replacement. Speedy it was not. Despite spending a laborious amount of time giving details of my car (standard Q5) just for a basic quote it took them well over 24 hrs just to return a call. In the meantime I received a quote and appointment from another company wIthin 20 mins. In addition when I explained my issue to the female who returned my call, she showed no interest in dealing with any complaint. When I questioned her on this blasé attitude she just hung up! I asked several times for a quote , was not given one. When I went by the shop to make an appointment it was 430 and the sign said they closed at 5. The woman was put out that I showed up, was not at all helpful and said she was closing( half an hour earlier than posted on the door.) When I asked why it said 5 but was really 430, she said " because of covid" If it were my business, I would update my info and abide by those posted. To boot why the hell would Covid have an Impact on POSTED closing and the shutting shop early!?!?. I ended up going to another shop in the area .....much better service. read more

Somehow finding a rear side window for my old toy truck was too hard for any east van glass shop and I tried a dozen .. I asked my mechanic in north Van for any tips and even tried calling all the lower mainland auto wreckers and no one said they could help me until my handiwoman suggested Speedy. I popped in to the York location and Ryan quickly found both a wrecker in Kelowna who had the window I needed, and also a brand new OEM piece from Toyota! We made an appointment and the next challenge was shipping but while that got sorted Ryan kept my truck secure and dry, updated me regularly, dealt with ICBC for me, and then returned it in perfect condition. Junkie thieves are always a danger in Vancouver even if you leave nothing in your vehicle but at least now I know that if I get bad luck again Speedy can solve my problem. read more

Early February, I noticed a small hole in the rear window of my venerable 2,000 Buick Century. As I live near the ocean, I suspected a crow dropping shellfish from height. Whilst driving, the small hole increased, and eventually the entire window shattered. I brought the car to Speedy Glass at 1868 York Avenue, Vancouver. The technician searched for a replacement window and informed me that this particular window was no longer manufactured, and there were no windows in all of Canada. He suggested I contact a wrecker for a used window. I bought a window from a wrecker in Surrey and returned to Speedy Glass. The technician informed me that without a new seal, the resultant appearance might not be pristine. I said as he can use duct tape, or whatever, so long as it does not leak. When I picked up the car later that day, the installation was perfect, indistinguishable from new. I highly recommend Speedy Glass for efficient and reasonable cost of repair. Richard D read more

They turned a rock chip that was 1/2 inch wide to a massive crack that was 10 inches wide. Then they said they couldn't replace it because it would take too long. Took it to another shop and they said that it was likely due to the technician not using the right tools. Went from a fully covered ICBC claim to having to pay 200$. read more

Horrible experience with this location. I went in to get my back window fixed and after waiting hours, I got my car back and they did a HORRIBLE job. I couldn't believe it!! The Window lining was off, there was glass sticking out! I had to go to the Kingsway location to set an appointment and get it fixed again! When I went to the Kingsway location, the manager took a look at it and even he was shocked at how badly it was done. When I tried calling York about the issue, they never picked up their phone. Avoid this branch of Speedy Glass if you can. We took our car in almost four months ago to have the windshield replaced, and we are still in the midst of having them fix everything they broke when they put the windshield in. They did manage to put in new glass without breaking it. However, in the process the installer sliced open the plastic cover on the interior of our windshield (the side piece that covers the speakers and wiring on the side), so when we went to pick the car up, they informed us they'd have to order in the part and would install it when it arrived in a week or so. Nearly a month later, they received and installed the part. Then, after we took the car and drove home, the plastic cover for the wiring on our rearview mirror fell off. When we attempted to put it back on, we discovered that the installer had broken one of the tabs on the piece, and it would not stay attached. So we took the car back and asked them to fix it; again they said they would have to order in the part, which, it turned out, was an entire rearview mirror since they couldn't order just the plastic cover. But they then ordered the wrong rearview mirror -- a simple rearview mirror, when the original had a digital compass and thermometer in it (that's why the plastic piece they broke was covering wiring -- a basic rearview mirror doesn't have this piece at all). So we asked them to order and install the right mirror. Over two months later, they called and let us know that the part had come in -- but it turns out that yet again, they ordered the wrong part. As soon as we got in the car to drive home, we noticed that the part they'd ordered only had the compass, not the thermometer, and the installer had completely ignored the fact that there was thermometer wiring there that he couldn't hook up. We are still waiting, after all this time, to have our car back in one piece as it was when we took it in all those months ago. No telling how long it will take them to get the right part in and install it. I did have a windshield replaced on my other car at the Broadway branch, and there they were able to install a new windshield without breaking anything else, so perhaps the installers there are better. But I can't recommend the York Ave. branch after all the trouble we've had -- all of which was created by shoddy installation work. I won't be going back to Speedy Glass in future, because of the wide variance in quality of their work. read more

I spoke with Jackie and Dario who answered any questions I had and were able to book someone to come to my place that afternoon! Chris was great!- very courteous and professional and did an excellent and quick job of replacing my windshield with quality glass. I might change this review after I've gone there but so far the service creeps me out. It is totally American-franchised-out. Efficiency to the point where I don't trust them. Juts like I prefer credit unions over big banks, family owned restaurants over McDonalds...this is just another corporation with 100% focus on saving themselves money. 1. You think you are calling a local Kits number, and it takes you to some faraway place where a guy is literally reading from a script and it not only takes forever, but it also involves a huge amount of unnecessary information and questions. We even started badly, as I was asked "how may I help you?" and I say "I want to book an appt to get my windshield replaced" and its met with the first of a hundred roboticized responses spoken by a human on the other end: "Do you wish to book an appointment to replace or repair your vehicle window?" 2. And the lack of communication didn't help. Wants to slot me into a time period without telling me how long it will take. Why do I have to ask? 3. Little manipulations. "Let me see if I can get you in within the next 30 minutes." Oh, not for two days. I'm sure they say this to everyone but after they collect so much information and you've wasted so much time, you just take what they give you by this point. 4. Lots of wasted information. You dont need my VIN. You don't need my credit card number. You don't need to know my deductible since you are looking it up anyways (I can't help but wonder if I had said it was a different amount if the price quote would have been different). I came away feeling like I REALLY don't want to go to this place. No trust at all. I want to go to a place where I can call the owner directly or he cares about his reputation. read more

From booking an appointment on their 1888 number to getting my car fixed, they are really friendly, helpful and informative. No push selling to make you pay more than what you need. I got a small rock chip in my windshield on my drive from Ontario to BC. I wanted to get it repaired since BC requires a vehicle inspection. I booked my appointment online which was really easy. When I got to Speedy they looked at the chip, which was probably about 1cm in diameter, and immediately said I would need to replace the whole windshield to pass the inspection. That did not seem right to me so the women went inside and googled something and then called a local garage. She then confirmed that I would need to replace the windshield. She quoted me about $375 and told me that that was discounted from $450. I was still skeptical so I decided to leave and call the garage that was going to do the inspection. They told me just to bring it in and they will decide. I took my car in to get inspected the next day and I did not have to replace anything. Out of province people beware. I am very impressed with the customer service at this location. I came in this morning and I was very disappointed when I learned I would have to call my third party insurance to make the claim to repair the chip in my windshield. The lady at the call centre assured me they would do it. Don was awesome! I called my insurance company, got the claim number and asked if they could still do the job. Don made the time to take care of my windshield. Not only that he vacuumed and cleaned my windows because he felt bad about the misinformation I received. 70 bucks for a 49 dollar rick chip repair. They didn't seem to care when I showed even mr lube does it for 20 bucks less in half the time. Found three other places way cheeper while I sat here waiting. Should have looked around instead of stopping at the closest place. read more

The windshield made crackly sounds when it was first installed. I called to inquire and was told that the sounds would be gone within 48 hours. The sounds were caused by a delay in curing because of cold weather. After 72 hours the sound was still not gone. I called again and was told to come into the shop which I refused since I had mobile service. If I want to go into the shop, I would have done so to begin with. I was then told that if the noise did not disappear in 2 weeks another appointment could be made at my home. The noise finally went away, so I tried to cancel the appointment at my home. The number provided to cancel the appointment on the automated email was not in service. I called a number that I found on the web and waiting 10 minutes in a queue only to be disconnected. I called again and waited another 10 minutes and finally got through and cancelled my appointment. I asked to speak to customer service. The only number available was in Quebec and it was after hours. I was told to call in the morning after 8:30AM--not going to happen. Frankly this company could do with a little work on customer service. I think the mobile service is great, but don't have a problem because it gets complicated and time consuming. Perhaps, I would have been better off going to BROCO. read more

I had a great experience at Speedy on York in Kits last week! My passenger car window was vandalized and I had to have it replaced. They had to order the window in (it arrived and was installed the next day) but I was able to come down right away and have the glass vacuumed out and plastic put over the window to keep the rain/wind out of the car. They did the ICBC claim for me and I only paid my deductible. The service agent (I didn't catch his name) was thorough, efficient and very nice. He even stayed 15 minutes after closing as I was late picking up my car. I would definitely recommend this location to friends and family! read more

Got Speedy at 500 Eagleson Road in Kanata, Ontario, to Fax a quote for windshield replacement to my insurance company (Aviva). Insurance company sent me a cheque made out to Speedy Glass for their portion of the repair cost. Called Speedy to order windshield related to their quote. Windshield arrives and Speedy called to say it was in and to make an appointment. Went for my appointment and was immediately told that the price had increased by $50 beyond the Speedy quote. Speedy representative then condescendly told that this is not the way Speedy conducts it's business related to insurance claims, i.e. Insurance Companies ask glass installers for a quote directly and not requested through a customer. From my perspective I was following the instructions of my insurance adjuster and what did it matter as long as Speedy was paid for their work? If Speedy had a problem with this they should have not sent the quote to the adjuster in the first place. Mark, the Speedy representative was very rude and short tempered....he told me that the whole thing looked very suspicious including the cheque.....made me feel like a scam artist in front of other customers. This whole debacle occurred despite the fact that Speedy Eagleson had sent the quote to Aviva, who then issued a business cheque to Speedy.....I was told that the Manager must have set this up and that it was not acceptable. I was told that if I had a problem, I could call the manager who was away until the next day.....makes one wonder who is running the farm!....... Needless to say my windshield was not replaced and my trip to Speedy was a complete nightmare. As for me, I drove 40 miles for this appointment followed by a friend in a second car......what a waste of our time and effort. Talk about terrible customer relations and lack of common sense and understanding by Speedy..........Absolutely unbelievable!!
