Later on, we found out that section was already out of season. As we walked farther, we finally saw much better cherries, but most of the good ones were way too high to reach and there were no ladders available. There were some lower branches, but the cherries there were not great in quality, so we ended up picking only around 3 lbs. We then decided to switch to the peach and nectarine area hoping for a better experience, but unfortunately there was barely anything good to pick. Most of the fruits were either overripe, damaged, or already picked over. Overall, it felt like the farm should have better guidance on which sections are still worth visiting before customers pay and spend time walking around in the heat. The staff was fine, but the overall fruit quality and picking experience were disappointing for us this visit.

Well being truthful even some as we picked....The orchard is beautiful, the staff is always friendly, and the experience has become one of our favorite family traditions. In a world where so many places change over time, it's honestly amazing to have a spot that stays consistently wonderful year after year. Thank you for a decade of memories, sticky fingers, full buckets, and happy hearts. Already counting down until next cherry season! Now to pit them and make a fresh cherry pie..... $4.50/pound

They were somewhat mushy but the flavors were amazing!! Best berries I've ever had!! So I can only imagine fresh mulberries off the tree. Fast forward a year later, and I had the opportunity to go mulberry picking. Made an entire road trip out of it. After driving 7 hours, we still drove another 2 hours to get here. And let me tell you, it was so worth it. After paying the entrance fee, they give you a mulberry harvesting tool. As well as plastic containers if you wish to take any home. $9 per container at the time or our visit. You can eat as many mulberries as you want while your here. And there isnt a time limit, so thats cool. They have so many mulberry trees. The more you move to the back of the farm theres more mulberries for you to pick. They are in different phases of maturity. My wife likes them lighter in color, almost a little bit of green to them. They are more tart that way. The darker they are the more sweet and ripe they are. You can bring yout own water in. And good thing we did as it was super hot and sunny. Its nice that the trees do provide some shade. I really enjoyed our time here. It was definitely worth the drive. And it was a fun activity the entire family can participate in!!

We went on a morning that was overcast, which turned out to be perfect since there isn't much shade on the farm, it kept us cool and out of the direct sun. The entry fee was around $7, and parking is free. However, the lot can fill up fast, so I highly recommend reserving one of the earlier morning time slots. The process is pretty organized: you go through a quick line to get your tickets scanned, and then the staff hands out picking sticks (one to share between two people) and a box for your harvest. The farm is massive, with tons of rows of trees to roam through and pick as you please. Pro-tip: Don't forget to check out the back rows! Most people tend to miss them, so it's a great way to get away from the crowds and find the best, untouched berries. My only real gripe was the pricing for the fruit at the end. Charging an additional $15 for the box to take your berries home felt incredibly steep, especially since the amount of fruit the box holds doesn't quite equate to that price point. Overall, it's a wonderful outdoor experience, just be prepared for the extra cost at checkout!

Today's dinner had a few dishes that were standout and a few that tasted good but had a bit too many ideas going on. Fried shrimp and sweet potato appetizer - this was my favorite dish tonight, the shrimp shells were fried crispy, and I've never seen it paired with sweet potato, but I love a fried sweet potato. Filet mignon and divers scallops - this dish had way too many ideas going on, I think if it was pared down it would be more cohesive. However this was my mom's favorite. The dish had lap cheung (Chinese sausage) which I thought was a tomato at first, pate, a unique-looking fried egg that was yolk, then white, then yellow on top of rice, scallops, onions, Laughing Cow cheese, served with a thick slice of milk bread. The scallops were huge and tasty, but felt out of place and were overpowered if you ate it with the pate. Without it, the rest of the dish would have made more sense to me as a take on a "steak and eggs" breakfast. The braised oxtail was a really innovative take on bo kho. It was like Vietnamese lasagna, with a sheet of rice noodle layered on top of baked Bolognese sauce. The rice noodle had a cilantro sauce, but it was hard to tell or taste when you mixed it with the tomato sauce. It was served with bread and shallot aoili, and while the aioli was absolutely delicious, I didn't understand where I was supposed to eat it with the dish. I made sure to take it home though for another use. This was my dad's favorite. The fried whole fish was solid as usual, though pretty pricey. I've gotten this every time and I don't remember if the accompaniments are always the same, but I think the sauce was. Tonight's dinner got the highest praise from my parents - "expensive but worth it"!!

There were so many local vendors from all across the South Bay, Monterey, and Salinas areas selling fresh fruits and vegetables of all varieties. So many spots had free samples of their fruits which was my favorite part. As one person kept shouting, "you get more samples here than Costco!" and they weren't kidding. After all the organic goods, there was a great selection of bakeries and food trucks also selling different items from Chinese dumplings to Mediterranean spreads. I was happy to see so many vegan friendly options too from my walk throughout the market. We were even gifted with live music from a guitarist. Even during its peak times, there wasn't a huge crowd that prevented you from moving back and forth between the shops. I thoroughly enjoyed the vibes and look forward to stopping by again.
