OK, I finally got a chance to actually dine in and try their specialty; steamed chicken. The same style chicken is served as a noodle soup or a rice plate. The service was nice and friendly. The decor is simple with some cute pictures/descriptions. Its a small restaurant but can accommodate a party of 6-8 people but geared for groups of 4 or less. They have one unisex restroom. FOOD: #10 Chicken & Rice (4/5) - their version of Hainan Chicken. Served with scallion ginger sauce, Hainan rice with a touch of turmeric, pickled carrot & daikon, roasted peanuts and a cup of broth. #2 Chicken Ho-Fun (4/5)- steamed chicken served with scallion ginger sauce on a noodle soup. The broth was clear and flavorful with soft ho-fun wide rice noodles. The soup was comforting on a cold rainy night. It was a nice dinner and we'll be back. Support your local business.

Their menu is simple - chicken with rice or chicken with soup. You have to be familiar with Hainanese chicken before coming here. Don't come and complain that the chicken is cold and lacks flavor - that is the point. There is beauty is simplicity.

I've passed by this restaurant so many times so decided to stop by for lunch with the family. We arrived around 1:30pm on a Sunday and it was pretty crowded. We were lucky enough that we didn't have to wait since the restaurant itself wasn't that big. We sat right by the entrance, which I didn't mind since the weather was nice. I decided to order the special - Pho 1: a bowl with ho fun, chicken fried wonton, and Thai Iced Tea ($19.99). I enjoyed the broth and the noodles. I wasn't a fan of the fried wonton since it tasted a bit stale. My parents ordered their other special - Pho 2: two bowls of pho, one with pho noodles and the other with egg noodles plus fresh half chicken, and they enjoyed it a lot. My husband ordered a fried chicken rice plate, in which we were told that it would take 20 min for it to be ready. The chicken was crispy on the outside but a little dry on the inside. I will be back for their chicken pho but would most likely skip their rice plates since it was just mediocre. I know that they also have a location in San Leandro that I would like to go one day.

Been trying to look for a chinese chicken pho place for a while since the only one I really enjoyed was shut down in Oakland a while back. Definitely hit the spot and very reasonably priced! There was a lunch combo that included only for dine in customers which were: - a bowl of noodles - crispy fried wonton - thai tea or vietnamese ice coffee All three items were very tasty and def worth the price $19.99! Service was fast and straight to the point! Shares the same plaza as Mala Town and Din Din so it will be super packed during the weekends!

I ordered online for pick up and within 10 minutes the food was ready to go. When I got there, the restaurant smelled SOO GOOD. The food did not disappoint! The chicken was so juicy and broth tasted very clean and smooth. Perfect for a cold recovery. The garlic sauce they had on the side paired well with the chicken. I will definitely be coming here again to try their rice plates.

Drove 1 hour and a half to get here to specifically get chicken pho with giblets. I don't love giblets, but I need to increase my iron level so I was looking for liver. We were seated immediately. Food came out fast. I like how u can choose what kind of noodles u want. I have never been to a place that specializes in just chicken pho. I ordered the number 6. I was hoping the soup had other regular chicken pieces in addition to the giblets but it was just one big piece of liver and plenty of gizzard. It was nourishing. I did add a lot of sriracha to it. They also had this nice ginger and onion condiment to add to it. This place looks like a fast casual place. not fancy or anything. Their drinks are really yummy! I had fresh cold soy milk (not from the can) and my husband had fresh sugar cane juice.

If you're looking for an authentic Vietnamese pho ga.. look elsewhere. But if you're just looking for a hearty chicken noodle soup, then this place is for you. Unfortunately I was under the impression that this was going to taste like chicken pho. It had absolutely zero notes of the usual aromatics that go into pho. It legit just tasted like chicken noodle soup that one could make at home.

Ordered here through Uber Eats and I wanted to order tofu spring rolls which only the shrimp and pork spring rolls were options, so I called and asked if I put the shrimp and pork spring rolls if they can make the tofu ones instead since it is the same price. The lady was really nice about it and super accommodating about it. The tofu spring rolls were really refreshing and good. Ordered 2 chicken pho's with no meat one with egg noodle and the other with ho fun noodles. The ho fun noodles were definitely over cook and on the mushy side. The broth wasn't to my liking it was really fishy tasting. Im glad they gave the ginger green onion sauce cause it helped make the flavor better but still tasted fishy. Vietnamese coffee nice and strong and the Thai tea is perfect sweetness and creaminess. Good prices.

I have to admit Union City is not high on my list of culinary destinations, but here I was after a hike around Coyote Hills Regional Park and I was hungry. I had never been here before, but I did have a fine Chicken Pho at their look-alike sister location in San Leandro (review: https://yelp.to/G9ktnncAbr). Steamed chicken was calling my name, and it wasn't clucking. I decided to go for the $14.99 Chicken & Rice, which was a pretty generous portion. Served cold, the chicken meat was mostly dark and pretty tender. The chicken rice was quite hefty with some vinegar-doused veggies and ginger-garlic sauce on the side (photo: https://yelp.to/Phn43hGd0a). It came with a cup of hot chicken broth, although it didn't stop me from ordering more soup. I got the $7.99 Chicken Giblets Soup just 'cuz I loves me some innards. The bowl was filled with gizzards and hearts topped with chopped green onion (photo: https://yelp.to/vB5rOHKaYi). It really hit the spot for me. They have pho ga, of course, and other rice plates with variations on chicken preparation like Crispy Whole Leg and Fried Whole Wings. Don't cluck it up! FOOD - 4 stars...chicken the way I like it AMBIANCE - 4 stars...comfortable spot, not too crowded SERVICE - 3.5 stars...attentive enough TOTAL - 4 stars...clucking my way to Union City RELATED - Exploring southern Alameda County? Pho ga 88 is one of the newest additions breathing life back into the plaza here. True to its namesake, pho ga offers multiple variations of chicken pho. They also have Hainan chicken and fried chicken thigh, all of which our group had a chance to sample. Amongst these 3 items, the pho ga and fried chicken were the most liked. While the Hainan chicken was tender, the sauce was just okay and the rice was too saturated with broth, leaving the texture mushy. The pho ga was delicious, but amongst all the places in the bay area, this broth had a more herbaceous profile. The fried chicken thigh was perfectly moist while also having a very crispy outside layer. Thought it was a little under seasoned, I found that easily fixed with a splash of soy sauce. The egg rolls were also delicious and made fresh to order. Service here is mostly self service for any of the drinks. However, food was ordered and came out fairly quick outside of the fried chicken. All in all, for anyone looking to satiate their fix for pho GA or Hainan chicken, I'd look elsewhere but if you are in the mood for fried chicken over rice, look no further.

Only time I can eat chicken breast is here because it is tenderoni! Only thing they're missing with the pho ga is the pickled green peppers and ginger nuoc mam sauce.

I'm so used to beef pho so I was really intrigued when I saw a place specializing in chicken pho open up! This place is canto style. I've been here twice now and have tried their chicken vermicelli pho, their regular pho ga, the chicken salad, and the fried whole chicken wings. Each bowl of pho was so comforting, with a clear, light, yet flavorful chicken broth, juicy pieces of bone-in chicken, and a side of fragrant house made ginger scallion sauce. My only complaint for the pho is that there are so many tiny bones in the chicken which makes it difficult to eat. For appetizers, I'd skip on the chicken salad but definitely would get the fried whole chicken wings again. Huge, freshly fried, piping hot, super juicy, and perfectly crispy. Could use more seasoning but went so well with the sweet chili sauce they provide. No complaints in regard to the service. It is pretty up to standard. Shop itself is pretty small but I haven't seen it super busy yet. Hopefully soon because they have some really good food!

A friend recommended this place when we wanted soup because it was cold. I was surprised that most of the food in this spot was chicken-focused; the menu was small. I haven't tried chicken broth pho, so I was excited to try it. The inside of the restaurant was small but cozy. The service was great too. We didn't have to wait long to get seated. However, the parking can be hard, especially on the weekends or during peak hours. I ordered Noodles and Soup. I was used to beef broth; I was surprised that the chicken broth was light and flavorful. We also ordered Shrimp and Pork Spring Rolls, and Finger Fried Shrimps. We enjoyed the snacks; they tasted fresh and filling. Overall, we enjoyed our visit to Pho Ga 88. The food was great, and the prices were reasonable. I will be back and will try their other menu options.

We started with the One Piece Mixed Salad (tofu skin, vermicelli noodles, woodear mushrooms, carrots, celery, seaweed, and peanuts, all mixed in a savory, acidic, and spicy dressed ) and the Shredded Potato Salad, both of which made for nice appetizers. We also had the Cold Skin Noodles (Liangpi), a bowl of wide, chewy noodles mixed with a savory sauce and topped with tofu puffs, shredded cucumber , bean sprouts, and a creamy sesame sauce. Hailing from Xi'an, the Braised Pork Pita Burger was fatty pieces of pork braised in a savory sauce, served in a dry round of "pita," but even better was the Spicy Cumin Lamb Pita Burger, which contained a tantalizingly spicy, flavorful filling of tender spiced lamb. The Signature Beef Bone Noodle Soup came with noodles in a simple broth, topped with three bone-in beef ribs. The meat on the ribs was rather tough and sinewy, and the soup on the bland side, but the presentation of the dish was definitely impressive. Finally, the House Special Braised Dry Noodle was a bowl of noodles topped with a savory sauce with lots of different dried ingredients including tofu, s mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, and red bell peppers. For each noodle dish, you could select from a variety of noodles, but my favorite by far was the 2cm "General Wide" noodles, which had an amazing chewy texture. Overall, this was a great restaurant for authentic Northern Chinese noodle dishes and other eats. Everything came out from the kitchen in just minutes after we ordered. I love the el dente texture of the noodles giving it a bit of chew. My braised pork belly dry noodles was not dry... very watery which was not to my liking. I want my dry noodles with as little gravy as possible. The flavor was light despite all the gravy, but the veggies and one egg made it up. The house special dry noodles had just the right amount of gravy for taste but not enough ingredients. I was wondering why the restaurant is called One Piece... I guess the entire bowl of noodles is one piece noodle as it was hard to eat as all the noodles are tangled. No complaints here just need to be careful with the splashes on your shirt. Overall the food was good, service was decent as we were offered actual menu instead of only using QR code to order. The place was not small with plenty of table. A bit noise as with all Chinese restaurants.

That caught me off guard as I was expecting raw meats like you would at any other hotpot establishment. I suppose there are pros and cons to their decision to precook the meat for me, but I would have liked to have known they would do that or have the option of receiving it pre-cooked or raw since the doneness of the meat is kind of crucial to how good the hotpot will taste for peoples preference.

I actually have one of Ox 9's other locations bookmarked but when I found out there was a branch in Fremont, I detoured to try them out. I came on a weekend for early lunch, and the restaurant was quite empty and spacious. There is a window that allows you to see where the sausage (noodles) get made (pulled). Located in a strip mall, there is ample parking. Two friendly women told me to sit wherever and order via QR code. I deliberated for a hilariously long time over the width of my noodles but ultimately decided on the beef and pickled veggie noodle soup with the thin flat noodles, as well as an order of the lamb skewers. The food came out reasonably fast, given that the noodles are hand-pulled, and the portions were HUGE. The lamb skewers were highly rated online and I can see why. They are perfectly spiced and so flavorful, without being so coated that the texture changes, and they have the PERFECT fat to lean ratio so they were unbelievably succulent, but not cloying. An order is 3 decent-sized skewers and I absolutely housed those. Next I was served a huge bowl of steaming, fresh noodles. The small flat noodle was the perfect size for me, as they were already quite wide. I was not looking to chew through literal dough sheets so I am glad I didn't opt for any wider noodle size. The texture of the noodles was sublime, so QQ so springy, you can really tell that they are hand-pulled. The slight imperfections and difference in thickness between noodles gave each bite a unique chew that was so addicting. I wish the physical dimensions of the bowl were a bit bigger because the noodles were a bit tangled and clumpy and I would have liked a bit more room to mix and spread them out. The beef noodle soup broth was just ok, I think the flavor could have been a bit deeper and stronger, but I could appreciate a savory beefy flavor. The pairing of pickled vegetables and tender beef is a classic though, and I do appreciate the clean, soothing taste. There is chili oil, soy sauce, and vinegar at every table so I added a bit more salt and spice to mine. Portions were HUGE and I was already getting full from the lamb skewers, so I took a good amount home. I packed the noodles and soup separately, and the superior gluten formation of fresh noodles held up to a day in the fridge, and were still quite tasty when reheated on stovetop. I loved this place and would absolutely return to try the other noodle dishes and noodle dimensions, as well as get more of their fabulous skewers.

Pho VN is located in one of Union City's popular Asian cross street malls, sharing a large parking lot with other outstanding eateries. The space inside the restaurant is large and can comfortably fit small and large parties alike. Reminiscent of the classic Vietnamese restaurants in this area, you'll find each table stocked with utensils, napkins, and sauces and staff scurrying around with bowls or trays of them toward their hungry patrons. As we walked in, we were motioned to sit at any of the open tables; the staff greeted us with menus and got us started with waters. Their menu is comprehensive and includes all your Vietnamese staples including popular appetizers like spring/egg rolls, noodle dishes like pho and vermicelli, rice plates, and delicious iced drinks featuring the traditional phin filtered Vietnamese coffee. For the pho bowls, you'll have the option of a medium or large portion with the primary difference being the amount of noodles you'll get and a slightly smaller protein portion. I ended up getting a large and it was plenty filling but the medium seemed reasonable as well. With each bowl, you'll get a platter of bean sprouts and basil leaves to spruce up your meal. Highly recommend dumping those in right when you get the steaming hot bowl! I also ended up getting an ice coffee - the flavor was strong and balanced out as the ice melted. It was a delicious indulgence! When it came time to pay, we did so up front at the register. They are cash only but I believe cash apps are also accepted. The staff were quick, friendly, and thorough in their service. You'll have a pleasant time here with your party and minimal interruptions from the staff unless you're looking to refill on waters. Overall, Pho VN checks all the boxes for when you're craving a hot bowl of pho and meaty pieces to go with those bites. I haven't had a chance to try their other dishes yet but this location is conveniently located, easy to get to and park, and accessible to other activities and eateries nearby making it very likely I'll be back soon! This watering hole will surely host someone you know if you're a local and if not, get to know the owners as I hear they have origins in the community!

Also there's no phone reception, had to get their WiFi which I'm glad they provide. I got grilled pork vermicelli and they accommodated my request for more salad and less noodles since I'm trying to watch my carb intake. Delicious, finished the whole thing. Came with soup on the side although that was very salty, wish it were more clean. Portions are huge, my friend got pho and was only able to eat half. Clean restaurant, plenty of tables and parking.

It was very quiet in the restaurant for a weekend dinner, which was quite surprising considering how popular the other locations are. The whole operation is pretty contactless as you order via QR code, there's a pitcher of water at your table and they bring you the food. I got the Original Sliced Beef Noodles. It's sort of like hotpot, where they bring you the boiling soup and the toppings in a tray, so you dump them all into the soup and eat it while it's hot. The beef was pretty lean and tough, so it wasn't what I expected because the Chinese menu actually translates to "fatty beef." Meat and toppings tasted bland, like they were sitting in the freezer. Other than that, the meal was alright and you can't really mess up this kind of meal since there's not much cooking involved. The meal was a bit pricey for what it is, and unfortunately I can't imagine them being open for long if things don't improve. I do recommend trying other locations in the chain though.

I am no OG attendee but...I personally thought their dumplings were AMAZING! I was craving xiao long baos so bad. Their XLB was the best I've had in the bay--when I bit into the skin, it was a mouthful of delicious broth. Many other XLB spots could barely produce as much broth as Bing's. The skin was also perfectly QQ. We also ordered their classic pork and cabbage dumplings. Wow. So flavorful and clean. They don't skimp on the meat portions here, that's for sure. Lastly, we got their braised beef noodle soup. Noodles were consistent and QQ, though the broth was a little bland. Albeit, this is a dumpling spot after all! Service was great--food came out super fast and water was always refilled. Perhaps the establishment has taken in the feedback already bc tbh I am not seeing what the negative reviews were talking about hahaha! Perfect mom and pop vibes all around! I WILL BE COMING BACK

Braised Beef Noodle Soup - tender medium-sized noodles to easily slurp up. The braised beef was stewed well and little bits of tendon and crunchy flank. Pork Shrimp Won Ton Soup - We ended up getting served WT Noodle Soup, which my wife did not want. After flagging down our server we explained that we marked down Won Ton Soup with no noodles. Luckily, they verified with the menu we had marked up. They quickly corrected the order. That shows great customer service. The service was friendly, courteous, and attentive. I'll be back.
