We were invited to join another couple in this escape room adventure. The business is located on the lowest level of the casino's underground outlet mall. Enter the mall inside the casino, there is no exterior entrance, and take the escalator or elevator to the lowest level. They are located at one end of this single hallway, multi level, mall complex. (Maybe check the casino website for a floor plan before you go.) The business is open limited hours and requires online reservations. We arrived early enough that they had not yet opened their doors. Another party reserved in the same time slot called to let staff know they were running late. The staff were able to accommodate their late arrival and begin our session a bit late because that nights schedule had room. Normally they would have begun the session at the scheduled time. The waiting area is super cool. I just love it! Very imaginative. Fantastical. And they have a Zoltar! Very nice. Just don't make a wish to be 'Big'. Staff were all very friendly. Once everyone was present, we were lead down a hallway behind a door off the waiting area and brought into one of the rooms. The staff member gave a very quick rundown of some rules and let us know if we needed help they were watching and to just raise our hands. Everyone had to ask for the hint to get one. There is no speaking communication. The hints were given on a video screen overhead so reading English is a must. We worked pretty well with the other party. I had expected one puzzle to lead you to the next, but these were mostly independent puzzles. You didn't know which you needed to solve first, but each time a puzzle was solved a door or compartment would open to reveal something you will need for another puzzle. All together there were three rooms and I lost count of all the different puzzles. Honestly it was kind of frustrating at times. We did manage to get a few puzzles completed without a hint, but most took one or two hints. We were 'on the right track' but just hadn't pursued it quite enough. Time was running short - yes, the sessions have a time limit - so we asked for all the hints that we could! That really helped move us along, and yes, we did manage to solve all the puzzles and get to the exit. Woo-hoo! In the end, it was quite fun and a nice entertainment. There were a variety of puzzle types and some props were used for more than one puzzle. There are also plenty of items that are of no use and just there to distract you. It took everyone's different skills to get the puzzles done. The rooms are on the small size, some more so than others, and I would not have liked more than eight in the space, but ten may have fit comfortably as well. At the end of our adventure we were quickly escorted out of the area so they could reset it for the next reservation. Our memories of the experience are very positive. Maybe a bit pricey, but in the end, we don't remember the cost and we do remember the experience. So there ya go. read more

Took my daughter and 5 of here friends her for a 16th birthday adventure, the host Nick was great, the rooms & the puzzles were fantastic, we solved the Temple of the Laughing God puzzle, teamwork and one hint got us through with 17 minutes to spare, everyone had a blast! I needed to add that the decor was exceptionally cool, and the host/s people behind the scenes were on a specific song request from the girls so fast I was shocked, they also did a free themed group photo at the end for us. read more

Wish I could give a review based on experience, but despite having shared games with 1 slot left, and me being a solo player 4 hours from home (close to where I grew up with plenty of local friends still nearby but it being a weekday afternoon), this location chose to continue to insist on a minimum booking of 2 for any reservation. They then explained that there was "a minor in the room," so they couldn't solo book anyone. Unreal. I inquired again about booking solo in any of the other shared rooms that had fewer than 8 slots left and was again turned down. So, yes, this company would rather turn down any revenue to add to a shared room, opposed to letting an escape room junkie see two locally-owned escape rooms and possibly share what a great experience it was. We had reservations for 8:30pm this past Saturday night. We arrived at 8:15pm as advised in our booking. There was also a party of 6 people booked to go in with us, but not related to our booking. They arrived right at 8:30, so I guess understandably we needed to all wait until they arrived. We enter the Temple of the Laughing God and our host quickly breezes through the directions. It was a good time. Honestly, I though the space/tasks would have been better suited for groups of 5-6 people total, not 8. It kind of felt like too many bodies getting in the way at times. Also, I disliked how more than one room was open at once. We entered the second room thinking we could work on it and we tried to because we had access to it and later found out it would be easier to solve at a later time. We ended up not solving in as we had 1-2 small things left to do. Had we not wasted our time in that room at the no appropriate time, we would have solved it. We were told when we exited that if we had about 3-4 more minutes, we would have escaped. I'd be willing to try Aftermath next time. read more

The escape room was super immersive and a total blast, with progression that felt rewarding and stakes that felt real. Our game master Lucy was absolutely incredible - helpful every step of the way, and when we were done, she gave us her list of her favorite quotes from our group and took all six billion photos we asked her to take. My boyfriend and I took our three teenage daughters and his mother to do this escape room. We did Temple of a laughing God. The room was unique and challenging and the puzzels encouraged great team work. First escape room I've done without locks only puzzles. The team master was very positive and enthusiastic when we asked for hints and the room itself was beyond creative! One of our favorites and we escaped! Also loved the unique imagination of the lobby! Will be back to complete the other room next time we are in town! read more

Took the 5 of us (two adults and 3 teenagers) out to Spellbound Escapes as a surprise to our kids. We got there and was met by Amala who walked us through registration and how to play the game. We signed up for the Temple of the Laughing God. Let me tell you, the puzzles, the decor, the atmosphere was so movie like, it made the experience that much more intense. The kids loved it and my wife and I were very happily surprised with the experience! We solved the rooms with 11 minutes to spare and we each solved at least 1-2 puzzles along the way. I highly recommend doing this in Foxwoods. We didn't know what to expect but now can't wait to do it again in another room! Don't miss out. Go! You won't be disappointed! read more

Went tonight and had an awesome time! The puzzles make sense for the most part, ( we used seduction to figure out the one that didn't). And escaped using two people. It was very well done and we had a ton of fun. The host is amazing and we can't wait to see what rooms they have to open up this summer! We have done many escape rooms all over the country and this is definitely in our top 3. This room easily gets a 4 star in my book. read more

We had a really good time this evening and found the adventure to be sufficiently challenging. We were paired with another couple (they were awesome) and a bachelorette party to round out our group of 8. Overall, it was a good experience. You definitely need a good sized group to complete some of the challenges. The puzzles were reasonably difficult. The atmosphere was fun. "Special effects" were well done. Our host was quirky but awesome. Price seemed a little high to me but my wife says it's on par. And honestly I don't mind paying more if it means they'll add additional rooms and stay open. It was a fun and different date night activity. Highly recommend. And, again, hoping they add another adventure so we have a reason to go back!! read more

From the moment you walk into their eerily elegant waiting area, Spellbound's staff are immersed in full character and are very welcoming and engaging. The props and puzzles are well made and the multiple rooms enhance the experience. All of the children and adults were able to contribute in many ways which made for a thoroughly enjoyable adventure. We weren't sure exactly what Spellbound was when we happened upon it at the Tanger Outlets in Foxwoods. We walked in and the staff was super friendly and happily explained the escape room concept to us without being pushy. We decided right then to do their escape room and had a blast. The puzzles were attainable solvable without being too obvious/easy and we genuinely enjoyed solving them. The staff applauding our eventual "escape" was a pleasant and very friendly touch. We will definitely be recommending them to friends and family and are waiting excitedly to come back and try the new rooms they are currently (12/2019) designing! read more

So fun for all ages! We had 13-41 year olds in our group and everyone had an amazing time. The decor is fantastic, the challenges and puzzles were fun, unique and interesting. The staff was great! So we really enjoy escape rooms, and this was a great one. We were on a family reunion trip and our group of 10 was really looking forward to this. We are from all over the country and were unfamiliar with the casino and outlet mall situation. The map seemed pretty straightforward and the extra directions included in the email , while a little unclear, seemed like they would be obvious once we got there. This was absolutely not the case. Two members of our party are elderly (91 and 84) We drove up and were dismayed to discover that we had no idea where to go. All the other outlet malls we have been to were outside, you know the kind you drive up to and walk right into the individual stores...not this one. We ultimately dropped off my mother (91) and two of us went inside to figure out where to go while my husband parked the car. After almost 40 minutes we finally arrived-late to our destination. We were 20 minutes past our start time. It was almost a mile and a half from where we started. It felt like the first clue was finding it. Three other members of our group were already working and the remaining members came much later than us. We were told that our time slot was unmovable and that's why the others had started(about 5 minutes before us) We would never have picked this place if we knew how far the walk was. Nowhere was that communicated to us. And they knew we had "oldsters" The staff members response was a wry "yeah, it's pretty hard to find.." If that's the case, why not include better directions?!? The room gets 5 stars but the experience gets 0 so I give this escape room 3 stars. read more

Spellbound?! Yes indeed! My friends and I played this game while we stayed at Foxwoods this past weekend and it was such a great time! Everything about the experience was magical. The lobby was beautiful, the game itself was captivating and beyond enjoyable, and the host Nick really made the entire experience. I usually don't leave reviews, but the world deserves to know about this guy, such a great personality. He made us feel comfortable trying something new, and had us laughing the entire time. I highly recommend checking this place out if you are at Foxwoods, it was a great little break from the tables plus we had good luck afterwards Nick was our good luck charm! Zero stars. From when we walked in the host who claimed was the manager, was so disrespectful and demeaning. At first we thought it was just part of his job but we then realized how genuinely rude this man was. My dear friend GENTLY touched a wall which then slid and then the gentleman cscreaming to stop the game. We were told to "just listen to simple directions" condescendingly. We had asked to speak to the owner and after an altercation of us calling her honey she claimed we did a lot of damage yet our party fished out $200 to be a part of this experience which was less than subpar. Escape this company/facility! Let alone the room. read more

For the price you pay, I'm not sure if it's worth it. Our group spent 30ish minutes stuck on ONE puzzle because we kept receiving the same hint after asking 4-5 times for new ones. Especially because afterwards we found out we had done everything right except pressing one button out of order, it seemed really unfair that no one could come over the loudspeaker and give us a more descriptive hint to help us keep going. By the time we got to the final room, with three massive puzzles, we were down to 5 minutes, so we had no time to even try to understand the instructions for the puzzles, and we kind of knew with only a few minutes left we weren't winning, or even going to be able to make an attempt. We had a ton of fun in the room up until that point, but that definitely left a sour taste in our mouths. They were quick to grab the microphone and tell us at one point (when we thought we'd finally figured out the puzzle and moved on) that our friend was being forceful with the elements of the room and to close the hatch he'd just opened. We had all watched it open with ease, but regardless of that issue, why couldn't they stay on the line and give us a better hint than the cryptic messages they continued to leave on the TV- whose instructions sounded like exactly what we were already doing (no spoilers for how to solve the puzzle, although you might need it since they're not willing to help). When we ran out of time, all that happened was the music turned off and a very unenthusiastic employee told us we didn't make it and it's time to leave. We had to ask where we made our mistake with the puzzle we got stuck on, and he told us we did everything right except something was out of order. We asked where in the clues we would have found the specific order, he said it doesn't say it, you're just supposed to figure it out. When we then asked why the hints were all the same/not helpful when they knew we were just one small step away from the next room with three giant puzzles we'd been losing time to complete, he just shrugged. The theming was amazing and if we had been able to enjoy playing around in the final room/been given a better chance to beat the game when we had deciphered the clues and executed all but one thing correctly, I'd probably be leaving a much better review. But for $35 a person, it's not worth it to get held up on technicalities, receive no help, and not even get to the final room until time was almost up. We're definitely not sore losers, I've lost a lot of escape rooms, but normally places help out for pacing sake and try to keep people moving, so it was very disappointing and discouraging for our group to be trying for half an hour on the same puzzle with no help and therefore lose any chance we had at beating the final room. There are lots of fun things to do at Foxwoods, I'd recommend almost any of them more than this. read more

Went here for a friends 50th birthday. Should have listened to the people that were walking out before us that warned us not to waste our money. It was a horrible experience. The host was rude and condescending, his "act" was taken a little too far. Our time was cut short and our money was wasted. The owner was no better then the host.
