I currently have 6 herniated discs (apart from the fused levels) and moderate to severe foraminal stenosis in my neck. I have a *lot* of neck and back pain. I have had weekly massage therapy for a good 10 years and have years (accumulated) of physical therapy. I have been seeing Zoe for about 2 months now and I say with experienced perspective that she is absolutely exceptional in her knowledge and skills to provide pain relief. I also see what is the best physical therapist I have been to in Sparks, twice a week. Zoe and my PT do many of the same processes, each validating the other. Zoe has extensive (and impressive) knowledge of how the body's structures work together for function and health, and she knows what to do to mitigate pain and discomfort that result from use, misuse, and injury. I cannot recommend Dr. Jared Andersen enough. Jared has a background in both acupuncture and sports…read moremedicine. I didn't even know that combination existed. I live in San Francisco, but spent the summer in Truckee and I had been experiencing a severe amount of pain in my neck and shoulder. I had had a trip to urgent care and was prescribed some prednisone which one it wore off the pain came back. The amount of pain that I was in was worse than anything that I had experienced in my life and the only way to manage it was heavy pain medication. I had a pinched nerve and a bulging disc at C5 and C4. Also I became unable to lift my shoulder more than 90°. My first visit Jared did a very thorough evaluation with different kinds of muscle testing and recommended some traction exercises to help me create some space in my vertebrae. These exercises only take me three minutes a day and I do believe are helping create more space between my vertebrae and free up the pressure on my nerves. We got the pain under control pretty much immediately through the acupuncture. Today I've been pain free for about 3.5 weeks. Can't tell you how amazing it is to be out of pain after being in so much pain for nearly 6 months. My life had become seriously altered due to chronic pain. I was unable to sleep on my side, my sleep was seriously disturbed and reading books or snuggling with my children became nearly impossible. Even after returning to San Francisco I actually made the 3.5 hour drive (one way) a couple of times to Truckee just to see Jared. I really believed in what he was doing. Every healthcare professional that I have seen, another acupuncturist, physical therapist recommended by my doctor, a chiropractor, and bodyworker told me that it was probably going to take a very, very long time before I would regain movement in my shoulder. On my last visit up to Truckee I saw Jared another two times in a row, this would've been my fourth and fifth visit. The morning after my fifth visit I was able to move my arm all the way up 180°. I was completely and utterly shocked. After various treatments, with multiple healthcare providers, sometimes I would think that I was seeing a degree or two of improvement but I never expected to see something like this. I can tell it's not yet perfect but I'm going to make another day trip, if you can believe it, just to see Jared to see if we can get it there all the way.
