The food here is incredibly authentic and affordable. The spicey pot is the best we've had on the east coast, and we have been to Philly and NYC a few times. I'd say it is even on par with what I have had in northern China. Cost wise it is expensive, but that is to be expected. The portions are quite large and one pot can feed a family. The stir fry allows you to customize the ingredients that go into the dish. But what makes this dish stand out are the mouth-numbing spices and the different layers of texture arising from the meats and vegetables you choose. We came here on a Saturday night, and the ambiance was perfect. The waiters were friendly and helpful. Although the place was busy, we did not have to wait long to get a table. We ordered spicy chicken wings for our appetizer, one large seafood hot pot to share and a ma-la stir fry. The stir fry was my favorite. We selected lotus root, mushroom, cabbage, intestine, tendon, shrimp and fish -- all of which were stir fried together into a wonderful conglomerate of amazing flavors and texture. I'm not into spicy food. A friend recommended this place. Ordered the "mala stir fry". The serving was pretty small with 5 large and 3 small in the pot. The pot was enough for 2 people. It was about $25. My first time to try mala stir dry pot was in Flushing food court. The one in Flushing is so much better than this place. I probably won't come here again. read more

I had very similar experience with Stanley when I wanted to give my colleagues a treat 2 weeks ago. I would give negative stars if I can too. Worst experience ever in a restaurant. While people are waiting to be seated, one of my colleagues just went out and bought a cup of tea. So the tea was like half-finished when we finally got seated. The waitress was so anxious to throw her cup of tea out and refused to provide any service at all. We tried to reason with her that it's only a almost-finished cup of tea bought while waiting, however it just didn't work out with them. The waitress even called on another 2 waiters to join her when we started to talk. The three of them talked in a "Throw it or leave it" way and tried to drive us out of the restaurant. Finally we ended up in the tofu soup house in the same plaza but we were so pissed by their attitude to us. It was not a big problem not to bring a cup of tea, but the way they treated customers was like we owed them money or we broke the law. So ridiculous! read more

i really miss central jersey because it's a wonderland of amazing asian food. spice 24 is one of my favorite places to hit whenever i'm back to visit home. they serve these great made-to-order stir fries - you pick a number of ingredients from a paper menu (including various meats, seafood, vegetables) and then they whip it up in the back with whatever sauce you pick. the spice 24 mala is HOT, like numbs your mouth as you're downing water throughout your meal kind of spicy. the black pepper brown sauce is a much more friendly option for those of you who can't tolerate the heat. read more

Quick and attentive service. We had a pick your own stir fry and crab with the whole sha bang sauce---- WOW! Everything was excellent. I was tempted to go back the next day. The food quality has gone bad these days. They sold bad shrimps. My friend and I both got dysentery after a meal.

All I have to say is... A stupid waiter literarily ruined my dinner. He "accidentally" thought we want take out box instead of the pot, so eventually we ate like four homeless people with take out box! This place sounds fun at first but you quickly realize it's unrealistically EXPENSIVE. For example: you pick meat and veggies then they stir fry for you. It's so easy to make it $40-$50 per dish (not big). And it only comes with one small bowl of rice. Every extra small bowl of rice cost you another $1.25. All the dishes are salty and you need lots of rice with it. read more

Decided to try Spice 24 today as I was passing by Edison. My first impression walking into the restaurant was that the interior design was something left to be desired--the overall area seemed rather dull and uninviting. The interior was definitely in need of more lighting because it was rather dim when I arrived. My group ordered the Stir fry option on their menu. You are obligated to select either 5 large ingredients or 8 small ingredients (all priced between 2-4 dollars per ingredient) so at the minimum it will run you up to at least 15+ dollars, which is quite pricey in my book. When the food arrived, the portions was adequate and can fill two people. Let me just first say that I think the ingredients were probably better quality than the average Chinese restaurant but it was really difficult to tell because the entire dish was doused in oil. It was literally dripping with oil, which is kind of gross. And yes, I know most stir fry dishes from Asian restaurants tend to be oily, but this was just way too much. Taste-wise everything else was pretty standard, nothing overly fantastic. That being said, the one thing I really did enjoy was eating their Taro. Let's just say that comparatively to the other restaurants nearby, I doubt this place will be open for that long. So good luck! read more

Saw this place when shopping nearby, and decided to give it a try. Me and my boyfriend love spicy food, and love to try all types of cuisines to satisfy our appetite. Spice 24 is very unique where you can pick your own toppings and they will cook it for you in your sauces. We love it. We also ordered soft shell crabs and it was yummy too. I was able to eat 2 bowl of rice with these dishes. Love they also offer bubble teas, love my spicy food and my bubble teas. read more

their menu divided into 4 parts . soup pot, stir fry. louisiana style seafood by lbs and bubble tea drinks. we order seafood soup pot, t style lemongrass soup pot, stir fry picking 5 items and what they call house special soup pot.every thing come fast. service is ok . but all the soup pot taste same. can't tell thai favor lemongrass or pickle cabbage. compare to the little lamb hot pot place. and the tofu place in the same h mart square. wish them all the best. read more

Been to this place three times. First time was with my hubby and a friend, and it was fun then because we didn't know what to expect. But then the second and third time was pretty basic dining experience. You basically choose the ingredients for your noodles, the level of spiciness and whether you like soup or the stir fry. The options are nothing special - broccoli, mushrooms, cauliflower, corn, etc. They require a minimum number of ingredients depending on the size of your party. The food is good. I tried the spicy sauce (the one that says "numbing spicy") and it was a mistake. I should have taken it seriously because it was really spicy I couldn't even taste the food. The Asian fusion sauce was better. I usually get some kind of meat, squid balls, quail eggs, and some vegetables. I haven't tried other items on the menu but I've seen other customers with different foods and they all look delicious. We will come back for sure. read more
