This is a hidden gem. The customer service from Reggie was pretty welcoming and makes you want to believe the food is good before you try. The 4 stars are for the customer service. I got the fish greens and Mac and it was okay. Gives home cooking vibes. Catfish was okay but the chicken thighs were perfect worth going back. The waffle is like a carrot cake or spice cake type waffle and different. If you're close and don't want to cook but want a home cooked meal to order. This is the place to try.

We had the best brunch at Spice and Gravy! My husband and I were looking for a new restaurant to try and we stumbled upon this one! I got the biscuits and gravy and they were DIVINE. May I add, they have great portion sizes! My husband had their catfish and grits and in addition to enjoying his meal, he loved their homemade tartar sauce! The atmosphere was so warm and the staff made us feel so welcomed! We are already planning what we are going to order on our next visit! Haha!

This is a little secret Mom & Pop Restaurant in a strip mall. My sister and nieces had been before so we decided to go after church for brunch when I was in town. There were quite a few of us and I can't remember everything we ordered but I ordered Catfish, greens and Mac and cheese . Some ordered the same, French toast, Chicken (looked too dark and dry for me, but my bro in love polished it off) and Waffles and loaded Grits. Unfortunately, they missed my sister's "loaded" grits order and just brought grits. They then took them back, but unfortunately again forgot her. We had to remind them that she still didn't have her food and we were almost finished. The chef brought out her order and apologized and asked her if she wanted a side of greens for free, my sister accepted. Restaurant cute and quaint. Server and service kind and gracious. I would higher additional help as there was one up front and one in the back. They ran out of grits when I got to order. My mac n cheese was absolutely amazing. My fish was delicious, but although my greens were flavorful, they had too many stems for me. I also ordered a side of banana nut French toast and they were pretty good.

I'd seen reviews about this place so hubby and I popped into this spot on a Saturday afternoon. From what I'd read, it seemed like this place was an upscale eatery so we were somewhat surprised to see it located in a strip mall surrounded by a bunch of other eateries. The curb appeal left a lot to be desired but we did not want to judge a book by its cover so we decided to give it a try. We walked in around 1 PM on a Saturday and the place was empty. The place was clean with minimal decor and they had 2 TVs mounted showing football games (our visit was during TX-OU weekend). We walked up to the counter where we were greeted by Reggie. He was nice and told us how it worked. You place your order at the counter and then seat yourself. He also told us about the brunch they have on Sundays. I wanted to try the Shrimp and Grits but was told they were out of shrimp. I went with the FGG - Fish, Grits, and Greens while hubby ordered The OC - Orange Chicken and waffle. Our food came out pretty quickly but I was shocked to see our food served on paper plates. They were nice, elevated paper plates but paper plates nonetheless. We were also given plastic cutlery for our dine-in service. Definitely not what I was expecting for meals at this price point and at a dine-in restaurant. The presentation of the food was nice though. My food was just alright. I noticed there were no salt & pepper shakers on the tables and I could have used it. My grits were bland but I figured they expected the seasoning from the greens to flavor the grits. It didn't work for me. I later noticed that the website says their meals are "seasoned well with low sodium" so that could explain why there were no salt & pepper in sight. The sauce on my hubby's orange chicken had a nice flavor and he enjoyed his waffle. I guess the chef had gone out to buy more shrimp and Reggie brought us a sample of the shrimp & grits. We tried it and it had more of a chowder type of texture. I'm glad I chose the FGG over that because I would not have liked it. I wouldn't rush back to this place but I'm glad we gave it a try.

Decided to try out this new black owned business in Arlington after church and it had such a nice ambiance. The decor was very warm, and inviting with soft music in the background. I got french toast and bacon. The french toast was really good and had a nice cinnamon flavor. It was more on the wet side but the taste was solid. The bacon was crispy too. Everyone was friendly and you could tell the staff is still learning but the owner was great about rectifying the orders.I look forward to going back and trying out other items on the menu. If you haven't give them a try!

The food and service is absolutely amazing. The interior design is really nice. It brings the southern home feel. Love the warm colors and the feel. Ceiling, floors, pendant lights work really good together. I had the vegan plate and it was amazing and seasoned to perfection. Mushrooms, greens, and grits. I could have eaten ten of them. My children had the fish which they raved about. My wife had the chicken and cheese grits which she also loved the natural lemon pepper flavors. The mac& cheese was good it was done perfectly. They have fountain drinks and a delicious chocolate tea which you have to try and frozen margaritas.

On a whim we tried Spice and Gravy today for lunch. There weren't too many reviews but why not try it out, right? I am very happy that we did as the food was great. I had the chicken and waffle and that was some of the best fried chicken I have had in a long time. It was very juicy, crispy as can be, and perfectly seasoned. That waffle, it was no second fiddle on this plate. The cinnamon was a nice touch and the texture of the waffle was perfect for being able to stand up to the chicken being piled on top of it. It almost had a buckwheat earthiness to the taste but it wasn't that. This was no run of the mill waffle though, I can assure you that much. We dined in and the food wasn't rushed to get out to us but also we didn't feel like we had been waiting for it for an unreasonable amount of time. Long story short, we will be back!

This restaurant was absolutely extraordinary! Spice and Gravy was the perfect place to eat for me and my family, especially during brunch! I had the chicken and waffles and they were the BEST chicken and waffles I've ever had! Roscoe's has some real competition here in Arlington! The chicken was perfectly cooked and tender while the waffles had an amazing flavor and super fluffy! Meanwhile, my mom had the shrimp and grits, which she said was a " mouthwatering, delicious" dish! The shrimp had such a unique and tasty flavor and the grits were 10/10, leaving you to want more! As far as the ambience and atmosphere of the restaurant, all the customers had such a joyful spirit and wanted to stay there for so long mostly because of how welcoming and friendly the owners were! It's like going to big Sunday brunch with your family and friends! Lastly, the owners really take into consideration the safety of restaurant health with the plastic cutlery, paper plates, and plastic silverware because it's so important for customers to know the owners are taking thought into our health and safety while eating at their restaurant! I cannot wait to go back to Spice and Gravy and get a bucket of shrimp and grits to go! Highly recommended!

Do yourself a favor and visit this hidden gem! It's a small restaurant located in Arlington near Matlock & Harris St. They are very nice people and the food is very good, seasoned well, and the portion sizes are just right! We will definitely be going back!

This is a small operation, one person front of house, and a single chef. I'm keeping that in mind and applaud trying to make it happen on your own! This place is well hidden in a strip mall and has fairly limited hours. We went for Sunday brunch, and the interior is nice, the owners are really personable and welcoming. We over ordered just because we want to make a well-rounded decision. I ordered the gravy and biscuits and my husband the loaded grits, and we shared a French toast. The meals are served on flimsy paper plates, and though I totally get trying to speed things up for clean up, I wished they were a little more rigid. Small detail. The French toast, skip it. It was dry and forgettable. The biscuits and gravy.... as a gravy connoisseur, I give the thumbs up for a homemade gravy. It had great flavor and was absolutely loaded with sausage. The biscuits were not homemade and were probably microwaved from frozen. This took points from that dish, but again... small kitchen so I get it but still. Bummer. My husband liked the grits, but he had to eat the bacon first because it couldn't be mixed up. He also prefers them ultra cheesy because they don't have a lot of flavor, but he said the sausage and eggs helped. I felt like it came with enough cheese, but he said meh. We put most of what we ordered in a box and tried again, ordering Catfish, Greens, and Mac. The catfish was well seasoned and had a good cornmeal crust. The gouda mac was just ok, but we could taste the gouda. The greens were salty but flavorful. I wish more places would offer collard greens. They are so underrated. We would like to try their fried chicken. The food was good but not standout. I love that it's a small business and was quiet enough to have a conversation in there and if you're feeling southern food, this may be a good choice if you're in the area and within their open hours.

If you are in the area this place is a must!! This was literally one of the best pieces of fish I have ever eaten. I am very picky about my greens because I make a mean batch myself. The greens here are legit!!! The keto tacos are so good. If your trying to watch the waste line give those a try. The owners are so great. They were so friendly and attentive. We have penciled this in to go to as a family once a month. Give them a try. You won't be disappointed.

Just to the right of the sign were two Level 2 chargers. We each ordered two 2 meat plates, which included two sides. When we got home and opened the to-go boxes, we realized we had WAY over-ordered. We had enough for two meals for each of us! We had chicken and pork ribs, mac & cheese and flat green beans. It was very tasty with a sweet and spicy barbecue sauce. I spoke with the owner and thanked him for supporting EVs, to which he replied, "How could I not? It's what's coming. How could I not get on board?" He mentioned that quite a few of his customers found him on Plugshare.com and stop by regularly for a meal and charge. I had to Google "So mote it be."

I genuinely want this place to succeed, which is why I still give it chances every so often. Today (Feb 24, 2026) I stopped in with my daughter just to pick up sides. Many menu items were unavailable (we were told no greens), so we ordered cabbage, sweet potatoes, and cornbread. The total was about $15 and I paid $20 and told him to keep the change as a tip. Unfortunately, the food quality was disappointing. The cabbage was essentially plain steamed cabbage -- very underseasoned and more like cafeteria vegetables than braised southern cabbage. I actually had to go home and re-season and cook it further just to make it edible. The sweet potatoes tasted good, but they had a noticeable smoky/BBQ odor, like they had absorbed grease or smoke from the kitchen environment. The cornbread itself was very good, but the portion was extremely small -- basically a sample-sized piece. Considering I tipped $5 on a small order, it would have been nice to include an additional piece or two. The biggest ongoing issue, though, is consistency. Over the years the restaurant is frequently out of items and the quality varies visit to visit. The dining/kitchen area is also visibly worn and could really benefit from a deep clean and upkeep. I truly say this respectfully because I remember how good this place used to be. The potential is still there, but right now the food and overall experience don't match the prices being charged.

It was a great size and again fried to perfection. The hush puppies were really tasty. The fried corn fritter was delicious. The pickled tartar sauce was unique and I loved it. OMG the cabbage was so DAMN GOOD! This stole the show. It was cooked perfectly and seasoned with love. It touched my soul and I wanted to lick my container. The Mac and Cheese was a NO for me. It was like black pepper and cheese sauce. It was just blah and II didn't even eat it. However, others may like it, but it wasn't that great. Sorry Nana! Overall I had a good visit! Based on that, they were supposed to be open. Not a good start. I posted about this on Facebook, saying it looked like they were closed for good. A friend of ours replied the next day that she had moved down the street from Juicy's and she saw the restaurant open for business that day. I headed over again and they were open. However, I was craving chicken, so I ordered the chicken plate (you can specify 4 wings) with mashed potatoes w/brown gravy and pinto beans (of course). Have you noticed that most dining out today is underwhelming? It seems to me the restaurants are using cheaper ingredients. Everything tastes bland. BUT NOT AT JUICY'S! The meal hit the spot for me. The wings are "whole wings," meaning there are no "drums" and "flats." Each wing at Juicy's is BOTH PARTS. It's the whole wing! I was full after just three but Bonnie grabbed the last one to "keep it from going to waste." (I think she was keeping it from going to MY waist...) The beans reminded me of my mom's pinto beans. The brown gravy on the potatoes reminded me of my grandmother's gravy at Thanksgiving. The cornbread was almost like cake. Even the music was great, featuring R&B and blues. I was told my order should be ready in about 20 minutes. I left and went to Starbucks up the street and came back about 30 minutes later and he was putting my order into the bag. I want to preempt by saying give this place a try and see what you think. You may have a different experience. There is construction being done on the street in front of the establishment, FYI. I personally did not enjoy the taste of the food. The yams were okay, but again, the taste just wasn't there for me. The cashier did say that they've only been open a year so maybe it's a work in progress.
