First time to this location. Use to go to here when I was in college many moons ago when they were off of 360 and Abrams. Great service here, friendly and kind. The food as I remember so so good if you want that southern style food that'll stick to your bones/waist lol and put you to sleep afterwards lol. Simple set up in the dining room area. They got the menu displayed on the tv it tends to transitions too quickly so I took a photo to study and know what to order when we got to the counter. Love this place will definitely come back but it'll be far in between cause it's so darn good I can't be eating this every day hahaha. I decided to come try their Sunday Menu around 11:30a. It opened at 11, it was already a line forming. Quit a few people a head of me. I say if you come on Sundays you need to arrive there early because I could tell they would probably sell out of their main specials. Majority of everyone ahead of me ordered shrimp and grits. I decided to get the shrimp and grits which included 1 fried fish, 1 side. It was about $22. It was back by popular demand. Honestly, not my favorite choice on the menu. They do give you a good amount of food. My hush puppies were overcooked and hard. I got a side order of corn which was really flavorful. The fried fish was okay. The grits could have been more soft. The employees are always nice, just this time around I wasn't feeling this particular item. read more

As a Cajun born and raised in South Louisiana, I will say it with my whole chest that this is the best Cajun food in the state of Texas! From the tasty food to the friendliness of the staff, it all reminds me of home. You cannot go wrong with anything that you order. Everything is authentic and delicious. Customer service was good. I liked the greens, but the macaroni and cheese had an interesting taste. The catfish, however, was not good. Mine didn't look like any of the pictures, and I'm not sure if it was cooked in old grease or just over-battered, but it definitely didn't taste like catfish. The hush puppy had a weird taste too. Unfortunately, every time I come here whether it's early or late they are ALWAYS out of something. My last experience I ordered porkchops, sweet potatoes, rice and gravy, with cornbread. I didn't care for the the breading on the porkchop at all. It just fell off the meat. The cornbread tasted like cake, the rice was hard, and the sweet potatoes were from a can. I've had this restaurant bookmarked for a lil while and was hungry one day so I figured why not try Damian's. Damian's get a good hard 3 stars. The service was speedy just like I like it. Food here is good. The fish here has some sort of specialty seasoning on it which is tasty and is a decent size. After awhile the seasoning became a little overwhelming, but overall it was good. The fries were basic with the same type of seasoning on it as the fish. The fries didn't taste like they were freshly cut, but still good. The greens had a delicious flavor to them. However, they were overcooked. Overall, I'd actually visit Damian's again for the fast service and fish that was hot, freshly fried, and was decently priced. read more

So sad to say I don't have pics I dug right into the meal so my fault for that. This is a customer service based review because the customer service was amazing. I felt like I was at a friends house chilling. The man Damian himself was there and the guy is as cool as you can be on a Sunday. What a great vibe the place had. I got the rib plate with red beans and rice and yams. So now on to the food. I enjoyed the fried ribs they were big juicy tender and seasoned well. They were the star of the meal. The red beans and rice was a no for me it tasted like a Zatarans powder mix or something it was mostly brown gravy no beans no sausage no seasonings. The yams were not for me as well very watery thin consistency not like I like my yams and the Mac and cheese was decent. I like the seasoning mixed into the Mac and cheese although a bit overpowering it was still good. The cake I got at the register was good it was a pound cake with a caramel glaze very delicious. Overall Damian's is a decent place for some good food. Is it the best? Naw. Is it the worst? Not by a long shot. I would actually visit again but I would just get an entree. read more

We decided to grab some lunch before heading home after a Cowboys game, and we settled on Damian's. I wanted the smothered oxtails, but decided on fried ribs once I got to the serving area. They were AMAZING, and they gave us so much food. My husband got Salisbury steak, which wasn't his fave...but he really enjoyed the red beans and rice and mac and cheese. I got the ribs which were everyone's fave. They came with rice and brown gravy, and two side. The brown gravy tasted like the powdered mix to me, but you better believe I ate it...I didn't love the cabbage, it was a little bland, BUT, the collard greens were bomb! My pals got catfish and seemed to enjoy that as well, it was fresh and cooked to order. They also really loved the vanilla pound cake. Damian was up front with the crew serving, and by the patrons, it looks like it's a local fave. Was also really impressed with the lady at the register. Good food! Everything was good and flavorful(except the cabbage) but the best thing that we had was the oxtails even though I neglected to get a picture of it. Customer service is good. Food doesn't give authentic Cajun food. I had the fried rib with red beans, dirty rice, corn bread and a side of gumbo. This was the worse gumbo i ever had being from Louisiana. Cornbread was too sweet, red beans had no taste and was just spicy (Popeyes red beans are better) dirty rice blend, and ribs had a sweet taste as well. It's been years since I frequented Damian's, back when it was across from the GM plant. The food was very good, the diner was very small, but clean and staff welcoming. I know they have moved to a much bigger location, but food quality and welcoming atmosphere are still in place. Limited menu, but what is served is delicious, simple and will bring you back. Lunchtime visit on a work-day. The line was not terribly long, but there were a good number of people. The people working behind the counter were nice and looked eager to please their customers. I ordered the fried catfish plate with side of cabbage and greens and it came with hushpuppies. If you bought a drink with it, you got dessert free - so I got the butter pound cake (I believe it was called). First off, it took FOREVER to get my food. The good thing is they made it fresh, so yay... but remember, this was lunchtime - had to go back to work. It was piping hot and after burning my tongue a couple of times, I was finally able to tell the fish was pretty good. The hushpuppies were alright; definitely have had better. Let's talk about these veggies I got for my sides. The greens... were not Collards. They tasted more like Mustards, which are also fine. But these things were so overcooked (or canned?!) and not seasoned at all. So bland and way too soft. The cabbage was the same. Way overcooked, no seasoning to speak of, overly greasy. I could not do more than one bite of either, so they went in the trash. The cake was hearty and tasty - went well with ice cream later. Stumbled on this Cafe by accident. It was late in the day so my options were limited. I ordered the chicken fried chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Hush Puppies, and Peach Cobbler. I mean how can you go to a place that bills itself southern cooking and not carb it out! First impression was, it's a very clean and well maintained family space. It's a walk up counter to order. The young lady that took my order was friendly and offered suggestions for items they were out of. From there I sat at a table, and about 15 minutes later the chef brought out out my order. All the staff was pleasant and called Mr by name. I had to wait a little for the ribs but didn't mind cause I was given a fountain drink and there was good music playing. The restaurant was clean and decor was Nola themed. Came in for lunch today...there was plenty of seats. Its a walk up like cafeteria style but the servers serve you. Even though its corona season its still seating inside. I ordered the 2 piece fried catfish, yams, mac n cheese and sweet tea...OMG!!!!! The fried catfish was cooked perfectly and it was well season. The food is AMAZING. We got oxtail with rice and mashed potatoes. The meat portion is so large that it could feed 2 people. The gravy was to die for. The owner looked like the happiest man and had such a great attitude. There was a young girl checking on tables and she was so sweet. The ambiance is a New Orleans style hole in the wall. Lots of seating and parking. There's a few TVs if you want to watch the game. My partner is a huge soul food fan and inhaled it so fast. This will definitely be a go to spot.
