My favorite restaurant in Jackson. If you love spicy food with well cooked rice and meat, this is your place.

You definitely need to order the butter chicken. It has to be one of the tastiest dishes I've ever tried. I also tried the curry lamb and it was okay, but the butter chicken was the highlight of the meal. I've never had Ethiopian food before, so everything was different. But I enjoyed myself while I was at this restaurant. I will definitely try it again. read more

Ate here last night and it was incredible. The only problem is that it is 80+ miles from my home. Great food, great service, I recommend the Seekh Kabob and Keema Naan. Go with a group like I did so you can sample lots of items. Everything we got was excellent. Went again and got the lamb vindaloo which was outstanding! read more

Hubby and I went for the buffet. Did not disappoint. My favorite ethnic food! Great buffet variety, all fresh and hot. Service was super. I like that they bring the naan to you fresh and hot from the kitchen. The only reason I did not give 5 full stars; comparatively to the Indian restaurant we frequented back home, it just didn't compare. But since we live here now, we will definitely go back. read more

As always, Spice Avenue impresses me. It's a very comfortable space in an easy to get to location. Jackson has a great variety of southern foods, but this is the only Indian spot that I know of. Honestly, if there were 20 others, I would still come here. The atmosphere is comfortable and pleasant. The staff is awesome....very polite, friendly and accommodating. That is something seriously lacking in most Indian restaurants. The food...omg...the food. I eat myself into misery when I come here. It is delicious, hot and perfectly spiced. The best thing is that they ask you, between courses, if you are ready for the next course. I could write a small novel here, but I won't. I will say, that if you like quality Indian cuisine and GREAT service, get your butt over there. read more

Eh. It's ok, for Jackson I guess. The chicken tikka massala had a slightly unusual flavor. Cinnamon or something. Not bad, but not what I was expecting. Doesn't come with a side of rice, even though that is pretty standard for most Indian restaurants. My naan was a little undercooked as well. This place is pretty good for the Jackson area, but it is alright in terms of flavor at other Indian places I've been to in major cities. I had the mutton biryani and was good. All-in-all, it was a great experience here. I probably will go back again to try their lamb curry that I heard so much about. read more

Went during lunch buffet. Chicken tikka masala is my favorite but this place serves it sweeter than what I'm used to eating. I was bummed that they didn't have the saag paneer. Also bummed that they didn't have rice pudding for dessert. Maybe I'll come back during dinner for those things since they are on the dinner menu. read more

Well, just ate at the lunch buffet because I was craving Indian, but unfortunately the craving was not satisfied. For starters, the food was lukewarm right off the buffet table. How??? I have no idea, but it was. The only items that were spiced well and delicious were the chicken masala and chicken tandoori. Delightful. Everything else fell short of every expectation I had for the restaurant. Nothing else was spiced or even tasted like anything. BTW Indian food has an array of wonderful spices and flavor notes, but only two items on this buffet fulfilled the criteria. And the naan was okay. Nothing special. So in conclusion, this buffet is okay if you like lukewarm chicken masala and tandoori and don't mind paying $13. Otherwise, find another Indian restaurant. read more

The service and food was first class at an reasonable price. My wife had the lamb korma and I had the lamb curry with rice and bread. Our tab was less than $40.00 including tip. The goodness starts off when you step inside the front door and smell the aroma and it gets better from there. If you have any hesitation, don't miss this treat. read more

Fantastic Indian restaurant. We were looking for a great place to find some Indian food in the jackson area and were recommended by a friend to try this place. We went for a dinner on a Friday night. The naan came out hot and fresh. The mild chicken tikka masala and butter chicken was delicious. The wait staff was fantastic and made sure we had whatever we needed. The price was about what we would pay at other restaurants for dinner in the area so it was reasonable. We will definitely be going back and adding it to our normal rotation of places to eat. read more

I would give this place 5 stars, but they took away the vegetarian plate that I so enjoyed. Their buffet does not have all the vegetarian dishes served on the veg platter. However when my spouse and I have eaten here, we have always enjoyed what we have tried. The chicken is fabulous, no matter which flavor you choose. One of our favorites is ordering garlic naan, which they serve up with fresh garlic and hot off the grill! Fabulous! And you can never go wrong finishing up your meal with a dessert there. Wow this place is really hidden, I would have never guessed how nice it is on the inside from seeing it on the highway. The staff is really friendly and the decor is nice. The only problem is the price. I mean it is really way too high for the amount of food you get. I would recommend the buffet if you don't know what you want and have the appetite to get your money's worth. One of my favorite dishes was Butter Chicken, but it didn't come with rice. The waiter asked me if wanted a bowl of plain rice and I said sure. When I got the ticket, I saw he had charged me $4.50 for a bowl of plain white rice. I felt ripped off for that, because he made it sound like he was just gonna give me a bowl of rice. One other time I got the Chicken Tikka Masala and it was really good. Again the price was way too high and there were no sides at all. I give this place 3 out of 5 because the price is 30% to 40% more than it should be, but the food is amazing. read more

In my opinion, It is one of the best place for Indian food in this area. Whenever I get a chance to visit Jackson I make sure to visit this place either for Lunch or Dinner (according to the time of my visit). This restaurant is pricey no doubt, but the taste of the food served nullifies that. For lunch I prefer their buffet. It is quick and nice with number of meat and veggie dishes, plain and Biryani rice, fresh Salad, naan, sweet dish, and a number of Chutney selections. For Dinner I usually go for their Dinner special Combo. It comes with choices of two meat or veggie curries, Rice, Dal, Onion salad, and a sweet dish arranged in small portion in a big platter along with some Naan. Individually the portions are less than the standard entree' size but as a combination it is just perfect. So why I have given it a four star? That is because when I visited this place recently with a group of 12 for dinner. We had some below-par experience. Food quality was still excellent but the service and attitude of the owner/staff were not satisfactory. It seemed as if they are unable to handle more than a handful of people. It took more than 2 hours for dinner to arrive at the table. This restaurant can really shine if they go with some trained professional servers and dining room staffs. I still will visit the place (though I'll avoid going there with any group larger than 6-8). read more

I'm a fan! I think it's a total rip off that you have to pay an additional $3-$4 for a container of rice to go with your food. HOWEVER...their food is really good. My favorites are the okra masala & chicken tikka masala. They can be a little pricey--especially if you want rice with your food--so you can save $ by going to the lunch buffet. Dine in for all you can eat, OR get the buffet to go--as much as you can stuff into a styrofoam container. Both are about $11. The decor is nothing special, but the food and service are good. read more

Worst experience ever...Place was freezing cold because heating was not working , seriously man! It's January...Food wasn't good at all...Naan (bread) piece was burnt... I'm surprised this place isn't more popular. When we went, it was pretty empty. The food is really delicious. We ordered off menu--a dish we usually get at Indian restaurants, aloo palik--and they were very accommodating. The food came quickly and the servers were polite. The atmosphere was very quiet and laid back. Also, very cool glasses made out of tin or some other type of worn metal which seemed to add to the authenticity of the place. This place was pretty good, the service was amazing. The only problems I had were that the lamb korma I ordered was almost all bone and very little meat and that rice and naan were extra. I like the idea of bone in for extra flavor, but there was very little meat on the bone, so I felt a little cheated. I visit this restaurant every now and then. Nice food but over priced if you dont pay attention to your bill. Its different everytime more so when the owner rings you up, so you better watch and make a note of what you eat. They were much better right after they open they had better people at that time. And I guess they have changed there cook as it taste different. But still its one of the good restaurants in Jackson. read more

The food is great, the service is good.....my only complaints are that they've started charging extra for the buffet on certain days...but I don't see any justification for that. The offering is almost always the same. I prefer to get the buffet because otherwise you end up paying a lot more for less food. I'm talking a container of $15 sauce and rice...very little meat or vegetables. They are the best Indian restaurant in the area...and they know it. read more
