Food isn't bad - would say it's probably the best option / closest to home cooking in south surrey. The service stinks though. The wait staff were more concerned with talking amongst themselves than they were with helping customers. The restaurant seems a bit backward when you enter (it's deceptive). This place has seriously declined. The food has gotten progressively over salted with either salt and/or msg. Portions are smaller and the flavor of the food on my last two visits was very poor. What a lousy meal. Too many health violations reported recently as well. Service was ok and the ambiance is fine, but no point to go here with such disappointing food. Once upon a time, there was a little Indian restaurant that was INSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANE. Then, it switched owners and while it's not the same, it's a solid 3 stars and will likely get better as it's still fairly new. It's still big and airy inside, if not a bit dark, with tall ceilings and nice decor. But there just isn't the same hustle and bustle feel of a well oiled machine. We got the staples: Butter Chicken, Lamb Rogan Josh, Chicken Tikka, and Saag Paneer. I firmly believe you can judge an Indian place on how they make these largely westernized staples. They were very good, but pretty strong on the sauce and sparse on the meat. We were the only table in the place which was a head scratcher on the slowness of the service, but I like to think they were making everything to order. The one thing that I really loved about this place before was the cocktail menu. Sadly that has gone the way of the dodo and it's just a very basic menu now. Hopefully they will add some signatures. It's easy to get to from across the border and has great potential, so I look forward to trying it again when there are more kinks ironed out. read more

If I can give 1000 stars... I would! This was our first time here. We were greeted by all and had a wonderful date night. We ordered butter chicken, fish tikka, naan, aloo paratha, rice, & raita. EVERYTHING WAS SHOCKING BECAUSE IT WAS BETTER than the other Indian restaurant's and let me tell you... we eat a lot of Indian food. Clove & Tasty Bistro is our favourite go to places. I am sorry to say but..... THIS RESTAURANT IS BETTER!!!!!! I had to go meet the manager and ask for the chef to come out because they need to know that their food, presentation, service, quality, & ambiance was absolutely perfect. The manager is Vinayak & the Head chef is Amrish. Our server was the sweetest, very eager to serve us and her name is Simran. Please try this place. It is a must! Went on a weekday afternoon - Excellent food, good service, good prices, ambience is decent as well.

Tonight was the 2nd time I've ordered from this restaurant, and with how amazingly tasty it was, I can't wait to order from them again! I ordered the Tibetan Veggie momo's (fried based on the recommendation of the server), Chilly Paneer (so spicy and so tasty! Just enough spice to warm up your scalp, but not so hot that you can't taste anything afterwards), the Chicken Tikka Masala (I've had their butter chicken which was the best butter chicken I've ever had, but I think this is even better than the butter chicken!) The Peshawari Naan, which had an awesome texture to it, so flaky, almost like a puff pastry, and the veggie pakora's. I love veggie pakora's, but they're usually so heavy. These ones were so light and delicious! I honestly can't wait to try more dishes from them! Definitely order from them, they're the best I've found in South Surrey!! read more

We were walking towards White Spot and passed in front of Spice Republic. Never been in this place. Should we try? We are in our 70s. Wow. Outstanding experience. My wife had the Butter Chicken and I had the Chicken Korma along with Garlic Naan. We asked for medium heat in the spicing and it was just right. Oh but the complexity of flavours was wonderful . We ate more than we should have and there was still a lot which we packed up into their nice little compostable containers to take home for our next meal. Our servers, Aman and Samir gave us just the right amount of attention. We definitely are going back to explore the extensive menu. read more

Ate here for the first time since the change of ownership. Atmosphere was lovely and the staff attentive. We started off with the Raj Kachori (which was excellent) and then ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh, Daal Makhani and Mango Paneer. All were excellent. We love this place!! This is our 2nd visit there as their food is amazing! We had their lunch specials and ordered the Dum goat biryani and butter chicken which were excellent! It came with so many delicious condiments! Both of the appetizers that we ordered were delicious and their presentation were outstanding!
