I love a good Indian meal but this was GREAT! The air conditioning blows kind of hard but maybe it was just the area where we were sitting. They don't mess with their spice levels either. Getting medium on my tikka masala was spicier than normal but still so good. Our waitress brought over a side of yogurt to calm things down. The yogurt itself just elevated all the flavors. Service and food were great. Anyone going here can tell this used to be a Gunther Toodies restaurant. Much of the furniture is still there from the yesteryears. Granted the Indian motif does add to everything but still feels like the former self is still calling out. Regardless, a wonderful treat for this part of town. Beautiful authentic experience at Spice Room tonight! The mango lasso was so creamy and just a little bit spicy, yum! Had to take off a star because the medium spice level on biryani was a little much for my palette and I left with a sore tongue... and a runny nose... But delicious nonetheless! This is my FAVORITE Indian food that I've had in Colorado!!! I've had such a hard time finding good Indian. Coming from the east coast where the food was incredible, this spot is definitely a must. The restaurant is so vibey and beautifully decorated. I love that the menu suggests drink pairings for the food. The staff were so kind and attentive. Wow!!! Everything was delicious! I met up a friend and we were both craving Indian food so I suggested the Spice Room. We both have never been. It was pretty busy for a Tuesday night. But we still got sat right away. Our server was attentive. I ordered a chicken tikka masala and i can't remember what my friend ordered. We also got garlic cheese naan. The flavors were there the naan was so delicious, that I could eat it with every meal. I will definitely be back. It was so good. Met a friend for lunch. There is plenty of parking in the back. They had just opened, so no wait. We were greeted and seated right away. I liked the lunch portion. Even with it being smaller, I still has some to bring home. My first choice was Masala Dosa, but those are not available until after noon and it was 11. I chose Palak Paneer instead. Delish! I went for medium heat and it was just right. I love the spinach and cheese cubes. The rice was hot and fluffy. We had Papadams to start with some chutneys for dipping. We have now been here twice and have been thoroughly pleased both times. The service was incredible-our server was working so hard and they were quite busy both times we went. The menu is a little overwhelming, with lots of options, but I like reading the little notes about the dishes! The food is soo delicious! I tried the vegetable korma, mild and my husband had the chicken tikka masala, mild. On our second time there, I just had to get the veg korma again and we shared that and a sweet potato tikka masala. Chef's kiss, scrumptious!! Truly blown away by our dinner this week- we have ordered takeout a few times and always liked the food but haven't had a chance to eat in and finally decided to last week. It's large space and used to be a 50s diner, they have done such a cute job making it uniquely their own AND they saved the booths which I loved. We got there at 5:30 on a Thursday and it was filling up, by the time we left most seats were taken so next time I might call ahead just to be safe. I didn't expect the crowd but so glad to see it. The food was AMAZING - the menu is extensive so they have all of your favorites and then some. Our waitress was very helpful in sharing ideas on what to order so we got a few classics and a few new dishes and really loved it all. Saag Paneer, Jalfrezi with chicken and a few others from the "house specialty entrees". We stopped in before going to see a play at Arvada Center, based on the wonderful yelp reviews. It was a little hard to find because the Address lead us to a small strip center when the restaurant actually sat as a standalone building behind the strip center, and facing the road. The inside is quite lovely And the people and staff are friendly and helpful. I was so taken by the decor, I had to stop and take pictures of everything as we went to our table. We decided to try a few different items. We had the Saag/Palak Paneer (medium), the tandoori chicken tikka (boneless) with a side of tikka masala sauce, some vegetable Momo, and garlic naan. 4.5 stars. Woohoo, there's now an Arvada location of Spice Room! So happy this restaurant keeps expanding. This definitely used to be an old diner. Interesting choice of place to repurpose. Love that there's a huge parking lot. Came here with friends one evening and enjoyed our experience. I got the Lamb Biryani, while my partner ordered his usual Baingan Bharta. Both were phenomenal. I have gotten takeout here several times but haven't eaten inside yet. The restaurant looks fine inside, props to the decorator! So far I have had my go-to orders for Indian takeout places, namely Tandoori chicken, goat vindaloo, and malai kofta. The malai kofta had a tiny amount of raisins and some spices that I don't find in the same dish at other restaurants, so it was not what I expected but I could get used to it. They have a tandoori wings appetizer, which is not typical, but not rare, either. It is quite good and I have ordered it twice now. The samosas are acceptable but not the best I've had. The spicy levels are very low compared to elsewhere. I ultimately got the 5/5 for a couple entrees and they were about as hot as a 3/5 elsewhere. I think next time I should ask if they can give me a side of the sauce or spice blend that would make the food hotter. I don't particularly enjoy the front desk experience; I feel like the people greeting me have been uncomfortably brusque. This is not a deal breaker because I only have to exchange 7 words with them, but I feel like they are unhappy to see customers who are walking in. read more

On Wednesday, April 29 my friend and I met to have dinner at 530pm. This was my first time at your restaurant. The food was very enjoyable and thr chai I had was amazing. At 640pm we were approached by someone who wasn't our waiter and were told we needed to leave as there was a reservation coming in. No one was waiting - in fact there were a few empty tables. We were there 70 minutes. I was so disappointed. Is this common? It would be one thing if we were told prior to sitting down, but we had just paid our bill and I had not yet drank my chai. I typically get chicken tiki masala when I'm at an Indian restaurant, but this time I decided to mix it up. We had the Chicken Shahenshah. They repeat your order back to you then when your waiting for your main course, they come and tell you it was taken to another table. Holy YUM!!! My grown daughter asked to eat here for her birthday. So I just met her. What a delightful surprise both and the atmosphere AND the magnificent food! It seems like Spice Room (in Arvada) prides themselves on their vegetarian offerings with quite a bit also classified as vegan. When I order Masala Chai the server made sure that I knew that it has dairy. I'm not a veggie but I very much enjoy Indian veg dishes! And I am a huge fan of southern Indian food which is hard to find in NW Denver. Wowza! The dosa and also the idli are screamingly fantastic! This new location is very popular, and rightfully so. On both of my recent visits, the place was packed. The parking lot is large, but it was still pretty much completely filled. Service is solid. I generally dont post reviews but this the most horrible mockery of Indian food I have ever eaten. We ordered tomato soup, mushroom manchurian, and Achari paneer 1. In tomato soup we found curry leaves which is generally found in south indian dishes and the taste of tomato soup was overpowered by curry leaves. Funny part, we found full garlic pieces in soup. Can't imagine what else can go wrong with such a simple recipe, 2. Mushroom manchurian also had curry leaves. Now, any indo chinese dish NEVER EVER has curry leaves in it. I can accept fusions but fusions are supposed to taste good. These are horrible 3. Achari paneer - gravy was watery, it seemed like they literally put Achar ( mango pickle) in the curry. We walked in and had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. The place was packed! I love how it was an old diner and they kept the charm of the place.
